After a very long day at Disneyland, my partner and I wanted to find a pho place that was open late. We found this place through yelp and was excited that we didn't have to end up eating at Dennys just because it was late. We never got a bill, we had to go up and ask to pay so we can leave. I give the service 1 star. The broth for the pho received the other 2 stars. Delicious. I ordered the pho with rare steak, well done steak & brisket. They have 3 sizes which is nice, & the prices are ok. The meat was average but again, the broth was just that good. Found thanks to Yelp. Came here on a Sunday night because we had been in Tustin around 845-9pm and everything was closed! Pho Lu is open til 3am. Walked up about 915 and place was packed, but we were seated immediately. I had a small pho and hubby had a large so we could compare sizes. $5.25 for small and $6.50 for large and both were satisfying. Broth good and plenty of jalapenos, bean sprouts, and basil given. Also tried shrimp spring rolls and they tasted extra fresh too. The peanut sauce with them was extra yummy and I didn't think you could really change that up. Restaurant had a few families with small children and tons of young college age kids. Will definitely be back because of hours but also pho was very good! I went here for the first time. It was pretty busy. A lot of choices. My dad order Com Tam Bi Cha Thi Nuong, my sister order Pho Tai Nam Gau, and I order Banh Canh Dac Biet. When my dad got his food, he got like 3 regular size meat. The portion of the meat was so small. My pho was bland and so thick. This is my favorite place to grab a super delicious bowl of Oxtail Pho. They actually servre the oxtail in a separate bowl in its own broth from your Pho. The Oxtail broth is a flavor party in your mouth. It feels like you have two dishes instead of one. I like reaking my fork tender oxtail into small bits and mix it in my Pho. The only reason we come here is because my wife loves their fresh egg and milk in soda beverage. -The mangers/owners (two older gals) that sit behind the counter are awful! It's as if they hate their job/business and are so troubled by the chore of ringing up every customer, that they have to great you with a frown and an unhappy, rude demeanor. -Food always comes out inconsistently. Sometimes my rice dish comes in 2 minutes, wife's Pho comes in 8 minutes, drinks come in 11 minutes. Sometimes, Pho comes in 1 minute, drinks in 5 minutes, rice dish in 15 minutes. I can go on. Zero Stars. The broth was too sweet. The broth was not hot at all. We asked for our meat on the side but it came in the bowls. They have no spicy oil sauce. We asked for raw onions and they didn't give us any until we asked again. The customer Service was not great. We received 1 napkin each. No refills on our drink. The first time I went here I LOVED it, the second time it was still awesome and the most recent time I went here it was just pretty good. I've gotten spring rolls here a couple of times and was disappointed both times. Ask for the meat on the side for your pho (if you're ordering the rare steak)! I feel like they give you more that way. Other than that, they're open pretty late from what I can tell (they don't have business hours posted anywhere) and the total for 3 medium phos and 1 order of spring rolls came out to $24 so price is pretty normal. Easily becoming one of my favorite pho spots. Pho Tai broth is a bit sweeter than most but not unlike Pho79 down the street. Oxtail here is also very good. Super clean restaurant. One you would feel good taking the family to. After a longgg day at Disneyland, pho just sounded so perfect! Thank you fellow yelpers for recommending the oxtail pho! It was delicious! They didn't just give me one teeny piece of oxtail, they came out with a whole separate bowl with 3 fat pieces with tons of tender, tasty meat! I also added a plate of raw beef on the side, that was yummy too. I think of all the pho places i've been to, this has to be by far my favorite. This may be because I've never been to a place that served oxtail pho. But hell, more places should! I'm definitely making this my go-to pho place when i'm in the garden grove/ anaheim neighborhood. I've been to this pho restaurant twice and it doesn't disappoint. The place is usually crowded, but fret not like any other pho restaurant the patrons are in and out so you won't have to wait long for your table. We were looking for a place for pho and decided we'd drive through Garden Grove and stop at the first place we saw, which turned out to be Pho Lu. The server seemed kind of surprised that we took our time looking through the menu since it was our first time. He stood there with his pen and pad in hand ready to write for a few seconds before realizing we'd need more time. My mom went with pho while I got a vermicelli dish. We also got spring rolls and I had an ice coffee. I was surprised when my vermicelli dish came because it was served with lettuce for wrapping. It was a bit weird for me, but tasted great. I also had a taste of the pho and it was very good. They are very generous with the amount of beef you get. The spring rolls were OK. The roll itself was good, but their sauce wasn't that good. TOGO ORDER: Recent wisdom teeth (4) extraction and late night munchies brought me here. Bf and I ordered the ox tail rice noodle (pho) to go. Phone conversation was a little confusing when I kept asking the price, and she kept responding, "okay. ready," but other than that lady was super friendly. Speaking on my bf's behalf, he said she gladly accepted $5 in coins and made him feel really welcome. As soon as we got there to pick it up, the order was packed, bag-knotted, and ready to go!! They give you a generous amount of broth since it's served in two bowls ( one for the noodles and broth, one with the meat and broth). I like how you have three different options of sizes of pho. The young guys waiting tables were very accomodating. They spoke English rather well compared to a lot of other spots in this area, which is always a plus, since none of us were Vietnamese. Pho - it was just average to me. The broth wasn't that special, and we were HUNGRY, too. The soup tasted good, but was missing a little something. The noodles were fine. The meat in them was really chewy. I don't know if it was the quality or something, but it just wasn't appetizing. Vermicelli with the egg rolls & bbq pork - this dish was very good. The pork was tasty, and it smelled wonderful coming to the table. Bright, simple flavors. The veggies tasted fresh. The sauce you pour into it didn't really add to it, but the rest of the dish was good enough so that I didn't mind. Vegetarian fried rice noodles - I'd never eaten a dish like this before, so I had to sample my friends' order. It was basically mixed veggies and tofu in a chow mein-like sauce with rice noodles fried into a patty. I LOVED this dish. The sauce tasted great, the patties were nice and crunchy, and the vegetables were nicely prepared. I highly recommend it. I'm kind of against the grain on this place. This place used to be my IT place for pho. I loved their oxtail pho. It was always so good and filling. But that was BEFORE. Pho Lu recently went thru a renovation, prettying up the interior. But now like a busty blonde, it's as dumb as it is pretty. The service has gone so far downhill, it's pretty much halfway to China. And I'm not talking bad service. I'm talking AWFUL service. I've had orders misunderstood despite even pointing to the item on the menu. I've had bowls of soup actually spilled on the table by the server with no words of apology or even an offer to clean it up. That's right--a server spilled a bowl of soup I had ordered and then just walked away from the mess. Sure the food is good but you know what? Good food starts to taste horridly bitter when the service you receive is so appalling. And guess what? I've now found two or three awesome pho places literally around the block from pho lu. I no longer need to worry about losing 25% of my meal due to server incompetence or placing an order, waiting 20 min, and then being told the item was out of stock. Why suffer the busty blonde's insipid behavior or rude manners? Look around. There's a pretty brunette right around the corner! read more

Went here few weeks ago with a group of friends, the only reason we came here is because it was still open after 10pm, open late is always a plus for people like myself that enjoy the nightlife. But besides open late, the Pho here is acceptable, and I don't feel it is better than other Pho places in Garden Groves. Also it is not cheaper and the portion is a bit less compare to some other Pho places I go to. Pho at 1:30AM? Nice! But would it be any good? Oh, it was VERY good. I had their combo pho - the rare beef was very very rare, just how I like it, with very generous servings of meat. Their broth was some of the best pho broth I've ever had. It was smooth and was so full of flavor, I barely had to put any sriracha or hoisin sauce to it. Very good broth. I have to admit, I was a bit apprehensive of eating here the first time . . . something about being the only people in the restaurant. Though, it was also 10 to 5p on a Saturday. Which probably had a lot to do with it. If there's anything you notice when you first enter the restaurant is the overwhelming scent of cumin (as well as something cardamom-like) that comes at you as you enter the restaurant -- which for the uninitiated, may be slightly off-putting. As far as the food -- the broth was very flavorful (no dousing the bowl with copious amounts of hoisin sauce), and the portions generous (so much beef -- outstanding!). You may want to reconsider ordering the large, even if you're really hungry. It is definitely larger than what you'd get at comparable pho joints. Actually, it's quite huge. To the point where we had to take home the spring rolls we ordered as an appetizer (that came out at the same time as our pho -- which is to say that the pho comes out quickly). Noodles generally are supposed to be a simple, tasty, and filling affair -- and Pho Lu succeeds on all three counts. read more

Love this place!!!!!! Come here very often and don't see a change anytime soon. Open very late, the restaurant is clean, and the staff is always on point. The owners are extremely friendly as well. I will drive out of my way past Pho 1 - Pho 79 to come here. I know I pass many Pho restaurants on the way here, but it is well worth it. I can sit here and explain what I order, but I'm not going to do that, no need. The Pho is great here! The flavor is good, the quantity is just right, and the price perfect! If you eat in, there are three sizes to choose from for your Pho. Take-out offers only two sizes omitting the small. The meats are great quality and everything stays very hot if your decide to do take-out. The appetizers and coffee never let me down either. One of my favorite Pho place in Orange County, if not my favorite. Pho Lu will not let you down. **Next time you are searching on Yelp for Pho and you see 10 locations closer to you and this location says 9 or 14 miles away, do yourself a favor and make the extra 5-7 minute drive to eat at the best Pho place in Orange County! I have never had trouble with parking here. I will say that it may be a little difficult to find parking right out front, but don't worry, there will be a spot somewhere in the shopping center. The quality has gone down noticeably in recent weeks, to the point where this isn't the instant answer when someone says, "Let's get pho." It should mean something when I drop a 5-star review down to 2 stars. Service got stupid too. My mom likes to order a Pho Ga (chicken pho) but with the beef broth instead of chicken broth. She's done this many times at many places. The last time I went with the parental, they bring out full Pho Ga with chicken broth. If you know your pho, then you know that chicken pho is more golden in color, and beef pho is darker. We even taste it to make sure, even though my beef pho is there for comparison. Here's how the convo went: Us: Excuse me, I ordered Pho Ga with beef broth, and they put in the chicken soup. Them: We gave you that. Us: No you didn't, look it at. Sucks that I have to give them such a low rating, but as others have mentioned, service here absolutely sucks. My boyfriend and I arrived and waited about 5 minutes for a table. When the server instructed us to sit down, the bitch behind us stole our table. I don't even think she even knew what she did. The server noticed and was shocked but didn't say anything. Instead he directed us to the far right of the restaurant. Fine. Whatever. We took our seats and waited like idiots before they finally thought to give us paper mats, utensils, napkins and the menu. We waited another 10 minutes before someone took our order. I ordered the oxtail pho but our server (some girl with glasses) said they ran out and ___insert_inaudible_jibberish_here___." I didn't understand her the first time so I asked her to repeat herself. The second time around, she was as quiet as a mouse. I apologized and asked her to repeat herself again. I'm not sure if she thought I was messing around with her but she gave me this attitude like she didn't want to take my order. Instead of asking her to repeat herself once more, I just ordered something else. I ended up getting the Pho Chin (#3) and my boyfriend got #5. We got an iced tea and iced water. Fast forward to the food and it was probably the best pho broth we've ever had. The broth was rich in flavor, cooked for hours on end, probably. The Pho Chin was good. The meat wasn't tough at all. The meat was perfect with an even ratio of meat to fat. Side condiments are extra. Vinegar onions and beef oil are 50 cents extra I believe. Thick rice noodle substitution is also extra. Extra filet mignon is $4 more. Basically anything they can charge extra for, they will. Okay, back to service... As mentioned earlier, it's as bad as it gets. We didn't get our drinks until halfway through our meal. I've posted a video for reference. After our meal, we asked for the check and our very same server (the girl with glasses) said to go up to the cashier and walked away. Rude. Definitely a favorite for us young people who like to stay up late and have an awesome bowl of pho in the middle of the night. This is our go to pho place in Little Saigon, not only because of the late hours but it's just that good. I normally stick with the pho tai, but their bo kho (hopefully I'm spelling that right!) is sooooo yummmy. If you don't know what that is, its the Vietnamese "beef stew" with hearty chunks of beef, carrots and onions, served with a hot baguette and this place gets it right! Dip the beef into the salt and pepper w/ lime mixture they give you for more flavor! YUM makes my tummy grumble of hunger just thinking about it. Other items worth trying would be their beef spring rolls, packed with meat and veggies and pretty big size too.. sharing is caring! Drinks are legit too. Supposedly they put cinnamon in their broth? I don't know if that's true but do not worry, there's no real hint of sweetness in the broth other than what's normal :) Definitely go here if your lost in Garden Grove among the many many pho joints and can't make a decision! Their broken rice sucks. I got the broken rice with shrimp cake and their shrimp cake which I always get anywhere when I get broken rice. Theirs was the worst I've had. I thought all shrimp cake tasted the same but here it doesn't in a bad way. I remember eating the same thing here a year ago and it was pretty decent but today it was terrible, both inside and outside. Portions were also pretty small. Order more rice if you want for extra charge. Came to try the Ox tail pho today. It is definitely worth the try. I have had it at other places, but here, it was really good, better then anywhere I have tried so far. But the winning dish for me was the egg rolls, I love it here. Will be back for the eggs rolls for sure! Or for when I am craving ox tail pho. Pho 79 is still my favorite place for pho. But Pho Lu has creepped its way to my next fave! The bowls here come in 3 sizes. The hubby got the medium and its plenty! I got the small and it was perfect.
