Just my POV since I lived in DaKao district t in VN and I ate literally 90% of all the egg noodle places in that district and when I saw this place...I was so hype to see if they can relive my memories. Unfortunately it didn't...BUT it's good in their own way. The place share a parking lot with other shops so it can be busy at time or abit long walk to it. I came for dinner and they're cleaning the floor with Clorox so it just abit strong to go in to each and abit slippery - BUT they do have signs and couple people sitting and reminded you about the wet area. The menu is good and plenty of varies type of noodles and other dishes. I ordered combination dried one. Service is good, just abit pushy feels like since they just drop the menu and within 15-20seconds they came and ready to take order...I was not and he just stand there & waited til I'm ready. Quick turnaround and portion is nice. Noodle is okey, just not chewy and felt like overcooked. Topping is great & generous. The sauce is okey, not too depth nor tasty. The broth is nice and good. For the price, it was good, same as other places.

All the good Vietnamese food can be found in the Santa Ana area and even if it's an hour drive, it's worth it. This has some of the best dry noodle bowl that I have had. I don't know what the dish is called but it's a dry noodle mix with seafood, wonton, squid, and this crispy pork bits on top. When you mix everything, it's quite tasty. There's enough flavoring and I personally dont think you need to add any additional sauce to it but that's just me. I highly recommend you order any of the teas that they offer. I got the lychee tea and it was quite refreshing. Also you should end it with black sesame che as a dessert. It's made fresh at the restaurant and it's just so much better than the powder ones.

My brother and sis in law took my mom and I here to eat for lunch. The parking spot area is pretty small; a little hard to find a parking spot. The place itself is not that big, and decent size. It seems to be a family own restaurant. I ordered the number 32, I forgot what it's called but it came with egg noodles, meat, and a bunch of seafood. They also gave you a bowl of broth so it's not so dry. When I took a bite of the food, it was delicious! It was a mix of savory, sweet, and salty. The flavor was perfect! Everything was great, however, I wasn't a fan of the squid that was in the noodles. Maybe it was the texture, but it wasn't for me.

Saturday, 08/15/2025 We stumbled upon a new noodle place today. It's actually Chinese Noodle House "DAKAO MY VI" 8851 Garden Grove Blvd., Suite 115 Garden Grove, CA I found this place by chance and read the reviews and thought we should try them and we were not disappointed. This is a family owned restaurant with about 15 tables, but it spacious. The service was average. We both had the number one special noodles (see pictures). The noodle bowls consisted of seafoods nice big shrimps, sliced pork, crispy pork fat, squid, and their special sauce. It was so tasty, we could taste the fresh egg noodles. And if you like spicy don't forget to add their fresh green jalapeños to the noodles. Happy eating!

I went to this place today since I was in the mood for Vietnamese noodles and wanted to expand my list of restaurants that serves hu tieu and egg noodles. I ordered the #32 which was a combination of both, it had lots of goodies since as wontons, shrimp, fish ball with fish roe inside, pork, liver and squid. I ordered an extra bowl of those crunchy yummy pieces of pork fatty bits which I love. They were very generous with the quantity you get. The broth is very clean tasting and delicious. It's a great find and probably going to be one of my go to restaurants when I am in the mood for noodles which is often since it's cold.

Noodle is firm and sauce is plentiful and tasty. The meat and shrimp were moist and big . Food comes out fast and ambiance is typical noodles frills noodle joint .

3/5 overall. Food was ok and waiter was nice. However, this place seems running down and needs some upgrades. I got here an hour before closing time but they seemed rushing to clean up and close the shop.

Very good mi - the noodles are chewy and the sauce is very flavorful. We got the special mi kho dac biet. Has squid, tongue, liver, pork slices, shrimp, and fish ball. I would definitely come back again - worth the 14.99 price. Plenty of parking and they take credit card too.

4.75 stars. They earn this review because I'll come here and their broth isn't bad. Always dac biet ko.

Came here around 2pm on Thursday for a work lunch, plenty of parking. I end up ordering #32 mi sui cao thap cam. I didn't realize sui cao is basically wonton but with shrimp in it. When it came out, I was really surprised how big it was. Lots of meat and noodles, they don't skimp on the portion. The noodle had a nice chewy texture, the sauce was really good and flavorful and the sui cao was tasty. I love how it comes with the fried fat, crispy and flavorful. I think found my new favorites place for mi kho. I think dakao my vi is a lot better than most places in Westminster and less pack. I'm definitely coming back here for the mi kho.

    1) Dried House Special Egg Noodle With Oyster Sauce with BBQ Pork, Heart, Liver, Shrimp, Squid & Fish Ball ($12.99)

Very authentic egg noddles. They make their egg noddles in house so that's a +1. This taste better than My Vi Mi Gia and no line. Hidden in the crack of Garden Grove. The fried pork rind taste freshly made. You must add their spicy sate (on the table) and mix it with your noddles, so good. Still drooling thinking about this. I got 1) Mì Khô Dầu Hào Thập Cẩm (Xá Xíu, Tim, Gan, Tôm, Mực & Cá Viên) ($12.99) -- Dried House Special Egg Noodle With Oyster Sauce (BBQ Pork, Heart, Liver, Shrimp, Squid & Fish Ball) and with spicy sate. Definitely will come back again with my friends and happy.

Vouched for by a viet friend, this place has really authentic noodles with great flavor. Seems like it's relatively new. The soup that comes with it is nice. Friendly service, lots of seating, the parking lot can be very busy at night since it's small. I parked in a few lots over but at night it isn't exactly safe feeling even though it's empty and the streets are thin (meaning there isn't really a place where people would be unless they're hanging out at the empty businesses in between the lots - ok way too much rambling LMAO) Seems to be a unique place to try if you're not viet and if you are, it seems yall already know about it LOL

Hue Ky Mi Gia - Food and Service Appear to Be Declining…read more My wife and I decided to try Hue Ky Mi Gia. The restaurant is located in a busy plaza, and the parking lot is shared with several other businesses, so finding a parking space can be difficult. Location and Parking -- 2/5 The location is convenient, but parking can be challenging because many businesses share the same parking lot. Atmosphere and Comfort -- 2/5 The air-conditioning was weak, and the front door remained open, so the restaurant felt warmer than expected. Service -- 3/5 The service was only okay. The waiters were not especially friendly or welcoming. Food -- 2/5 I ordered the mì vịt tiềm. As everyone can see from my picture, my bowl came with only one small piece of bok choy. In comparison, pictures posted by other customers show the same dish served with several pieces of fresh vegetables. The noodles were okay but much too oily. The broth served on the side was not hot enough, and the duck was dry and tough instead of tender. The pickled vegetables were also too sour. Restaurants can change over time. Based on the difference between my meal and the meals shown in other customers' pictures, the portions and food quality appear to be inconsistent and declining. Cleanliness -- 2/5 The dining area was acceptable, but the restroom needed more attention and cleaning. Overall -- 2/5 Stars Overall, our experience was below average. Hue Ky Mi Gia may be worth trying once if you want something different, but the food, service, comfort, and cleanliness all need improvement.

However, I'd encourage anyone who hasn't had the dish before to try it if you're a fan of a thick starchy broth and wonderfully chewy udon noodles. There are different meat options to go along with the soup - crab, pork, etc., or any combination of. There's also a "light" broth option which is less thick but equally delicious. Aside from the soup, the egg rolls here are deliciously crisp and crunchy as they're made with rice paper instead of the standard egg roll wrapper. The restaurant is a great example of a hole-in-the-wall that's 100% worth trying. Expect to wait 20-30mins to be seated during normal dining hours due to the low room capacity and popularity of the restaurant (the food comes out really fast though!).

We waited about 30-40 minutes with a few parties ahead of us. They'll take your order while you wait. The restaurant itself is very tiny, no-frills, and more of an eat-and-go kind of spot. We ordered the bánh canh tôm cua, which they're known for. It came with a good amount of crab, shrimp, and meat, and the noodles had great texture, but I found the broth a little lacking in flavor. Would recommend adding in lime and fish sauce provided at each table. My partner got the bún thịt nướng chả giò but thought they skimped on the egg rolls and grilled pork (they used the same meat from the bún chả, which I didn't like). For the wait and food, I probably wouldn't come back since there are so many other great Vietnamese options in the area.

They were actually one of the first places around to serve this style of noodles, and I've enjoyed it for many years. However, over time, I feel like the quality isn't quite the same as it used to be. Maybe the prices are a little lower now, but the portions also seem noticeably smaller. I recently stopped by in the evening for some snacks. The atmosphere was open, casual, and lively, although both the service and the food seemed a little slow coming out. The balut was way too big for me, so I honestly couldn't really eat it. But the grilled blood cockles were large, fresh, and very juicy, which I really enjoyed. The restaurant itself is small, but it feels airy and comfortable. They also have outdoor seating, which is especially nice in the evening when the weather is cool. Overall, I still have a soft spot for Grandpa's Kitchen because I've been coming here for a long time. I just wish the food quality and portions were more like they used to be.
