The restaurant is connected to a banh mi + drinks restaurant called Boban, and you're able to order separately and bring the food to the Pho Bistro. The interior was brightly lit and clean, with modern and cohesive design. Service was quick and attentive. However, we later learned that buying a Pho would have a free coffee added, but our waitress did not let us know. We saw the advertisement on the side wall as we left :( The coffee (which we bought from Boban) was good so I wonder if Pho Bistro shares the same coffee. The pho tron was good! Food was absolutely delicious but I have to especially call out the dry chicken pho. No other place I know makes this. The chicken is so fresh you can taste the difference where the meat is chewier and fresh. I took my family and the kids and mom absolutely love it. It was a cool Hip vibe and the design concepts were very urban. Loved how they have an inside and outside patio and the concept of having the Banh mi shop with a pho shop is interesting. Coming from Coachella Valley, but former OC resident. Took advantage of our day in town and looked up somewhere new to try. Just based on the pictures we decided to check this place out. Walking in it was definitely nicer than most hole in the wall restaurants around town. They even have a cafe area to the right when you walk in, with boba drinks but more so the aesthetic of the entire place including the restaurant , looked new and very clean and welcoming. Space between seating is good. Granted there was two other groups in the entire place, but I imagine when it is very busy, you aren't packed like other restaurants the same size that have too many tables. Food was great for their simple menu choices they have. So definitely made it easier to decide what we wanted right away. Got two appetizers , sweet potato fries and crispy chicken. The fries tasted like you expect so that's good, and the chicken was better than I expected and the portions aren't too big to where it'll fill you up. So that you have room for your pho. Pho was great, we shared a bowl because I usually don't finish my own. But I feel the way this tasted I could have easily had my own bowl and next time I probably will. Service was good, typical Garden Grove service; if you know what I mean. I do recommend this place especially if you are just looking for pho and not a bloated menu like other pho places. They share space with Boban so although there's outdoor seatings, it belongs to Boban. When entering the restaurant, immediately to your right will be Boban...OneV pho bistro is a bit in...there's no way you'll miss because it's directly in front of you but don't get confused by the cashier/desk to the right...it doesn't belong to them. Now to the pho. We ordered a dry chicken noodle with baby/chicken eggs and their combination specialty pho. The dried chicken noodle was more like clear, glass noodle used for Japchae; somehow the noodle was all stuck together like a gigantic ball. The chicken were shredded so you can ask for dark/white meat. Sauce was not on point. The pho...wow I never had pho broth with that much MSG. It was so bad that I couldn't finish the broth and I typically love to divulge all my broth. It didn't have any pho flavouring that I'm accustomed to from the traditional restaurants such as Pho Flavor, Pho 79 or Phoholic. Upon arriving in the middle of the day on a Monday, you're immediately seated and greeted by a staff member. Aesthetically everything in there is very clean and conveys peaceful ambience. I will say I really like what they have done to the place and you just feel comfortable once you step right in. Their menu is simple, which to me in the case that they do focus on their quality so I was excited to try their dish. I ordered their standard beef pho and their daily in homemade pennywort drink. The pho did come out extremely hot and you can tell with the heat steam hovering over the top of the bowl and the drink came simultaneously. Beef pho - 4/5 They do have different seasoning and vegetable to add to your bowl. I do believe this is more of the northern style if I'm correct, which has a different base broth compared to the southern style and it was more on the tangy side for me, but it's not extremely tangy. The herbs did give more leverage of a flavor profile and they do give different herbs than the typical pho restaurant. The tendon could've been more tender or soft but it was on the harder side. The beef was soft and tender, but I wouldn't describe it as melting in the mouth. Pennywort drink - 5/5 though it was not sweet at all, you can ask for sugar and mix it in yourself. Ask for me, I like the fact that it's not too sweet so that I can actually enjoy the flavor of the drink instead of having the sugar overpower. read more

Best Pho I've ever had. The broth and all of the herbs were so fresh. The proteins were tender and full of flavor. The whole bowl was elegantly presented, and so well balanced. The serving was so generous I wound up taking half of it home. And don't get me started on the Vietnamese coffee. OMG. I'm finally getting around to reviewing this new restaurant. I came when they had their grand opening. The restaurant itself is nicely renovated and there's plenty of parking. Service here is pretty lack luster. There's a robot that brings out your food. Other than that's it's a typical Vietnamese restaurant with mediocre service, no attention to customers besides taking order and taking payments. The place feels unwelcoming if that makes sense. Also if you wanted to order boba drinks or sandwiches along with your pho you are SOL. You would have to walk over to the boba side and pay separately as they don't allow you to order at the table. Very inconvenient. Ok now let's talk about the pho. They only have beef or chicken pho. That's it. The menu is pretty limited. The chicken pho was pretty disappointing. The broth was very bland. The chicken pieces come inside the bowl. Is it regular chicken or organic walking chicken? I guess we'll never know. My biggest pet peeve is when the pho doesn't even come out hot. They share space with Boban Sandwich, of which I have not had chance to try yet since we were here for Pho.
