Best hole in the wall pho spot!! Service is amazing, they always do their best to take care of everyone. Pho broth is always very clean and flavorful, and you always gotta get fresh noodles. Combination fried rice is one of the best I've had, so flavorful and huge portion. Spring rolls are so fresh and fish sauce wings are perfectly crisp and taste amazing. We got the Thai tea to wash it all down and it was 10/10. Can't recommend this place enough, just go eat there.

Came here for the first time after hearing great things about this place. I ordered a "bun dac biet" and my husband ordered a pho thai. the food came out quick which is nice! the pho broth was very flavorful. my order came out and i was able to take a couple of bites of the thit nuong and it was really good. i liked it. unfortunately i didn't get to try the shrimp or eggrolls as i noticed a strand of hair in the bowl which quickly made me lose my appetite. a worker came by (guy with glasses) and asked how everything was and i told him about what i had found and he was very very apologetic about it and even offer to remake my order or any other food item i wanted.but with the restaurant closing within 10 mins, i said it was ok and passed on the kind offer. to be honest if the employees weren't so nice and took accountability i would've given this place 0 starts if i could but thanks to great employee, the service was worth the stars i gave. maybe one day ill come back and i hope this wouldn't happen again but as for now, ill pass.

Out of all the pho spots in SJ this would definitely not be my first pick, but it's not a horrible option either. I got the Beef Combination Pho and the broth was on the salty side. The meat looked over cooked but once I ate it it was still soft. They don't give a lot of meat though. Good amount of noodles which I appreciate. All they did was take our orders and give our orders. Had to ask for sauce tray because they forgot. Place is super casual and a good amount of people in a weekday lunch! Overall: 3.8/5

I've been at least 20 times, and i've put my family on Pho Luc Lac too. Fried rice is sometimes absolute fire with perfect wok hei, and sometimes kind of mid, maybe depends on the chef. Pho here is consistently great and the bun bo hue is one of the best in the area. My girlfriend is obsessed with the hue and we go like once a week for it Service is solid and typically pretty quick. I hope they start seeing us as regulars eventually haha

Pho Luc Lac on Branham Lane in West San Jose is definitely worth checking out! I stopped by for lunch today and ordered the pho with steak and meatballs, and it was honestly one of the best bowls of pho I've had in a long time. The broth was hot, rich, and full of flavor, and the steak and meatballs were both delicious. Everything tasted fresh, and the portion was very satisfying. You can tell they put care into preparing their food, because every bite was flavorful and enjoyable. I'm really glad I decided to come here for lunch today. The food completely hit the spot, and I left very happy and satisfied. I will definitely be coming back again soon and highly recommend Pho Luc Lac to anyone looking for a delicious and flavorful bowl of pho in West San Jose!

We came here bc I was craving Spring Rolls. And to my delight the peanut butter sauce was pretty delicious! It had a hint of spicy-ness which for me was a pleasant surprise. The ambiance is also super casual. The service is as good too although the young gentleman was on his phone both time we wanted to get his attention. My bf Beef Plate was good he says. He certainly finished it all.

Fast service. Big portions! Delicious and good spot for kids. Broth is yummy and rich.

Bbh, pho luc lac, fried rice with ribeye, pho ap chao (crispy chow fun) and Bo luc lac (shaken beef) with tomato flavored rice. Yum yum!

Went here recently on a Sunday and had a wonderful experience from the moment we arrived. Trung was great to interact with. We ordered a large bun Bo hue, a large pho luc lac, fried rice with ribeye cooked medium level (as recommended), Bo luc lac with tomato flavored rice, and a chicken pho ap chao to share amongst 3 adults and 4 kids. Everything we ordered was delicious, tasty, and the portion size were very good and perfect for sharing. I was pleasantly surprised with the pho ap chao, it was really tasty and crispy and a dish I have not tried before. We really enjoyed everything but the Bo luc lac (shaken beef) was super tender and the beef was flavorful! This is a must try in my opinion! This restaurant is clean and tidy and has cute decors of bamboo hats hung from the ceiling and remind me of being back in Vietnam again. Staffs were attentive as customers entered. Plenty of parking spaces in the plaza. I will definitely come back here for everything I tried during my visit and to try more when in the area or on the way back from Santa Cruz. This will also be a great place to grab Togo for picnics or for hiking as well! My kids are already asking to come back to the restaurant after our first time there. So glad to know of another Vietnamese restaurant that has so many yummy dishes in SJ!

We came here today for the first time for lunch. We both love Vietnamese food, so we were excited to see what they had to offer. They are located in the Branham shopping center off of Branham and Rose Ave. They share a huge parking lot with other establishments in that center. When we walked in, we were greeted and seated right away. I noticed that all the tables were taken. They were very busy. The inside is very nice and each table has a caddy with silverware, chopsticks and napkins as well as hot sauce and hoisin sauce. We studied the menus we were given. Ice water was brought out to us while we were deciding on what we wanted. We ordered two hot jasmine green teas to start with. For our appetizer we ordered the shrimp and pork spring rolls. My hubby decided to get the grilled shrimp rice vermicelli bowl and I ordered the Shaken Beef rice plate with tomato garlic rice. I was asked how I wanted the beef to be cooked. I chose medium rare. Our hot teas came out right away followed by our spring rolls. The tea was hot and soothing. The spring rolls were delicious with the peanut sauce it came with. Our mains, came out next. My hubb loved his grilled shrimp rice vermicelli bowl. He also liked the side of fish sauce that came with it. My Shaken Beef plate was absolutely delicious. It was cooked a perfect medium rare and was so tender. The flavor of the beef, with the peppers and onions, with a savory sauce, was so good. The tomato garlic rice was also tasty. I liked that there was some salad on my plate as well. The dish was amazing. Both main dishes we received had generous portions and we thought the prices were decent. The staff were so nice and attentive. Our overall experience was excellent. The food was very good as wells as the customer service. We look forward to returning soon.

I was trying to find the best place for shaken beef and this has to be my favorite. I've ordered to go from here twice. The portion is perfect and the quality is consistent. The meat is so soft (I ask for medium rare) and it's cooked perfectly. It's super easy to eat and the flavor is so yummy. The red rice has a nice flavor and buttery taste to it. One thing I wanted to note is that I asked for no bell peppers and they cooked the onions perfectly. It's soft and pairs so well. I would definitely not ask for the do chua (carrot and daikon) and just sub it for extra lettuce next time. I'm literally craving the shaken beef plate again omg I gotta go back asap! Next time, I definitely want to dine in and try their other menu items as well :)

Friday night at 7pm, it was poppin'! Waited about 15 minutes for a party of 6 Service was quick and attentive, as expected at a viet restaurant. Pho Luc Lac: Beef was tender and flavorful, but the broth was a little too salty to be honest Drunken Noodles: star of the show! Highly recommend to order this and share with your party Pad Thai and Bo Luc Lac were good enough, nothing to harp on though. Good alternative if you don't want to head over to east side, but if you do come, get the drunken noodles!!

Came here for lunch after craving a dish from my child hood! Found this spot and ordered the Bo Luc Lac and oh my good ness this is my new GO TO spot for this dish! Bo Luc Lac - 10/10 Perfect score, the flavor of the rice is so delicious and they even offer lemon with salt and pepper! The beef is so soft and full of flavor it almost melts in your mouth. Loved this dish so much after I finished eating my plate I ordered a 2nd one, but due to popular demand they ran out of the Red Rice! The interior design is very aesthetic and reminds me of authentic Vietnamese decor. The server said they get a lot of their materials from there. Furthermore, servers were great and very attentive as well! They mentioned that this dish is extremely popular and when they run out of the red rice that's it for the day, so just keep that in mind when coming here.

Ask the Community - Pho Luc Lac

When do you guys open back up from Vietnamese New Year?

    We are open now

Is there multiple noodle options for the pho like specifically egg noodle and flat noodle?

Yes... I always asked for the egg noodles instead of rice noodles and it's no problem not sure about the size of the noodle so I think there's no choice for that

    Are you open today?

    Yes we are open

Do you add sugar to your pho broth?

    Yes we add rock sugar

    When did your restaurant open?

    October 2019

Are you temporarily closed? When will you re open?

    We will reopen august 3rd!

Do they offer a catering menu? Would love to get a tray of egg rolls for a party!

When will the combination vermicelli with the shrimp, pork and egg rolls be back? The best!

Hi. Not sure at the moment. We are still waiting to hire another full time kitchen staff so we can have everything on the menu again. We are really struggling to find good help

How's their bahn mi and are their spring rolls authentic and yummy?

    Spring rolls authentic and delicious!!

Their phone number isn't operating. Anyone know what's up?

We were there last 10/16 they were having issues with pipe bursting i think... they had water people and electicians outside

    Are you on door dash?

    Yes, they are on DoorDash.

Do you have a website or a menu? It will be very helpful

Their menu can be found from Doordash. Not sure if the price from Doordash might be slightly different from the restaurant, at least this shows you what's on their menu.…

I love that the dipping sauce is in a giant bowl, composed of the classic fish sauce concoction with sugar and some garlic and optional chili. Noodles itself was perfectly cooked, slight chew to it and not soggy. The dish had the sweet, salty, savory combo The egg rolls were on the smaller side but tightly packed with delicious ground pork. Crispy outside. Came with the slightly spicy sweet fish sauce with chili. The banh beo chen came in one small plate instead of little dipping sauce plates. It had minced shrimp (more like crumbles), friend pork rinds pieces, and green onions. I like that they used shrimp instead of mung bean paste. The steamed tapioca/rice cake base was also topped with fried pork rinds and fried shallots (tasted like smoky onipn rings). The combination of all the texture and taste was well balanced. Sweet, salty, umami.

Between Saigon and Hanoi, I went on a full-blown bánh cuốn quest, trying different spots almost daily. Street stalls, little hole-in-the-wall shops, famous spots--you name it. At some point I stopped being a tourist and became a rice-roll inspector. So yeah... my standards are unfortunately very high now. The best bánh cuốn I had in Vietnam was paper thin and almost translucent, with this delicate chew that somehow breaks apart and melts in your mouth. That's the texture I'm chasing. Coming back here, the rice sheets were noticeably thicker and didn't have that same delicate texture. They also weren't as fresh and warm as I remembered, which makes a huge difference with bánh cuốn. This is one of those dishes that's at its best when the sheets are freshly steamed and hit your table warm. The meat filling was also underwhelming and not nearly as flavorful or savory as another bánh cuốn spot I've had in San Jose. With a dish this simple, there's nowhere to hide--the rice sheet, filling, freshness and nước mám chấm (fish sauce) all have to work together. It's certainly not bad, and I can understand why people enjoy it. But after eating my way through Saigon and Hanoi in pursuit of the perfect bánh cuốn, this one is kinda meh for me now. My old review gave this place 4 stars. Vietnam ruined me.

The restaurant has plenty of seating, making it a great place to bring family and friends. When you're finished eating, you simply walk up to the counter, tell them your table number, and pay. Just keep in mind that they only accept cash or debit cards. If you're looking for a comforting bowl of Bun Bo Hue, especially on a rough morning after a night out, this is definitely the place to go. I will always come back here.

Unfortunately, the service was not very welcoming--the staff came across as blunt, impatient, and at times rude--but I could have overlooked that if the food had fully lived up to the hype. The broth made a good first impression and clearly included many of the right spices, although it was also quite salty. As I got further into the bowl, however, the flavor started to feel flat and lacked the rich, slow-simmered depth I expect from a restaurant that specializes in this dish. It tasted more heavily seasoned than deeply developed, so experienced bún bò Huế fans may find it underwhelming. The meat was also not as tender as I would have liked, and the congealed blood--usually my favorite part--was overcooked and dry rather than smooth and tender. The visible holes suggested it may have been cooked too quickly at too high a temperature. Overall, the meal was decent and had some good flavors, but the broth, meat, and service did not meet my expectations. I can understand why it is popular, but I would probably try another bún bò Huế spot next time.

I ordered their egg rolls and banh beo for catering which came with lots of fresh herbs/lettuce, fish sauce, and other toppings. Pricing was very affordable as well for the quality. I have also frequently gone into their store to enjoy a nice plate of com tam or bun thit nuong which has always been great. They provide their nuoc mam/fish sauce on the table and always are attentive. Restaurant is large and can accommodate a bunch of tables. Parking is also on a big plaza so didn't have trouble parking.

TLDR: Great Grilled Chicken…read more I really like this place, and would really recommend it. It's very clean and modern looking and spacious. I ordered my usual, Grilled chicken with broken rice. The chicken was very flavorful, but not dry. That's super important. My wife ordered chicken pho, and she liked it as well. The noodles look to be freshly made, and they were quite chewy. The soup base was good (according to her) and flavorful as well. We went with some friends, and they also really enjoyed the food. The chicken wings were also a great hit with everyone!

It's not outstanding, but it's definitely enjoyable. Unfortunately, the service ruined the experience. As soon as I sat down, I hadn't even had a chance to look through the whole menu before the server kept touching my shoulder and repeatedly pressured me to order. I found it very rude and uncomfortable because I really don't like strangers touching me. The older lady did it to everyone in our table, and she didn't seem to realize she was making our entire group uncomfortable, and it affected our whole dining experience. So, would I come back? Absolutely not. One visit was more than enough. I'm not willing to deal with that kind of pushy service again.
