    Grilled Beef Banh Mi
    Joy W.

The menu at M-K pho is quite extensive. We easily got a table as walk-ins for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Service 2.75/5 Food 3/5 (see below) Ambience 3/5 We ordered: Grilled Beef Banh Mi Dry Vermicelli Bowl with meats House Special Pho Butter Garlic Wings The Pho bowl was fairly large but the broth was average. The bun on the Banh Mi was disappointing because it not did taste fresh. The chicken wings came hot and crispy but there was a lack of a distinct flavour. The dry vermicelli bowl was a generous serving and our friend enjoyed the meal, which raised my rating to a 3/5. Overall, the meal was really average at best. We had asked the restaurant if they validate the parking, they do not and had suggested we park on the street. When we asked for two cups of hot water, it never arrived and we asked again mid-meal, the server had forgotten. No-one checked in with our table if we needed anything. We also had to ask for a refill on the tea. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

After not being able to get at tatchan noodles, I walked over here. The pho broth is quite light, the noodles are cooked well and the portions are very large. The quality of beef is good, not dry and over cooked at all. The service is pretty good as well, as soon as I entered was seated and they came to take my order. They do have a QR code on the table, but it is for the previous Taiwanese beef noodle restaurant! If I'm ever around the area and fiending for a large pho I would definitely return!

    Beef carpaccio

Very average pho, on par with what I've had so far in Richmond BC. Service is average, ample natural light and seating throughout. Very organized and pretty menu with lots of variety. Came here for an early dinner tonight and ordered their House Special Pho, beef carpaccio, and a lemon soda. Pho broth isn't very rich or beefy. It's passable, but sweet and flat. I overheard the waitress in Vietnamese say that they ran out of soda water so they just mixed up sprite with lemon. Didn't mind it, but wouldn't order again. The beef carpaccio is just sliced frozen eye round with oyster sauce (maybe hoisin?), fried & sliced onion, Thai basil, and peanuts. It's on the salty end and very one-dimensional. I just ended up dunking half of it in my pho broth to not waste it. Overall a very average dinner. On par with the level of Pho 37 down the street. Maybe that's the standard here if you're a local. But as a Vietnamese person from the Bay, I can't give this over 3 stars.

    mango shrimp salad

Small Vietnamese restaurant at the northwest corner of Buswell and Saba, close to the Richmond Public Market. A few different restaurants have occupied that spot over the years, and this one opened not too long ago. Went on a weekend during lunch, and the place was half-full. No frill interior. Small menu with the usual items, with a selection pho, rice/vermicelli plates and appetizers. We got the mango shrimp salad. Was a zesty mix of mango and various other veggies, and a few pieces of shrimp. The dressing isn't too heavy, although it was a little spicy. The mango used is the not super sweet or ripe type that are served in julienne cut. We also tried their signature beef pho. Got the large size and it came in a very large bowl, although it wasn't completely packed so I was able to finish it. The various meats were decent. I liked the soup base was salty enough. The noodles were soft, but not mushy or clumped together. Overall it was a solid meal for a reasonable price.

    Veggie pho with sate broth
    Matt B.

They have a veggie noodle soup ($17) with vegetable broth, so I decided to try this place out. You can convert the broth to sate broth for $1.50, so I did that being the sate fiend that I am. The pho came out in about 15 minutes. You get tofu, veggie ham, veggies (broccoli and carrot), and plenty of vermicelli. The portion was enormous. The broth--which makes or breaks a pho--was very satisfying. The sate was not too heavy, but intense enough, and the intensity built up as you get through the bowl. Good service and pleasant interior. Very good veggie sate pho option.

Pho M&K Vietnamese House Address: 8131 Saba Road, Richmond, #150, BC V6Y 4C3 Food Appetizers Chicken Wings Served hot and crispy, the chicken wings were generously sized and well-seasoned. The creamy texture added an extra layer of richness, making them a standout starter. Each bite was flavorful, with a well-balanced mix of seasoning and crispiness. Rating: 9/10 Assorted Fried Foods This platter featured a selection of fried items, including fish balls, sausage, tofu, and more. Everything was served warm, with a satisfying crispness on the outside and a soft, flavorful interior. The seasoning was on point, enhancing the natural flavors of each component. A great option for those who enjoy a variety of textures and tastes. Rating: 9/10 Beef Carpaccio Thinly sliced raw beef, drizzled with olive oil and lemon, and topped with diced garlic. The portion size was decent, and the flavors were fresh and well-balanced. The citrusy brightness from the lemon paired nicely with the richness of the beef, while the garlic added a subtle punch. A solid choice for those who appreciate delicate flavors. Rating: 8/10 House Special Pho A generously sized bowl of pho, served with fresh bean sprouts and basil. The broth was warm and comforting but slightly milder than expected, lacking a bit of depth in seasoning. While it could have used a stronger, more robust flavor, it was still enjoyable, especially with the addition of fresh herbs and condiments. Rating: 8/10 Ambiance The restaurant has a bright and clean interior, creating a welcoming atmosphere for diners. However, one downside is the lack of designated parking. Guests must find street parking nearby, which requires payment, potentially causing a slight inconvenience. Rating: 7/10 Service Service was outstanding. Both servers were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and accommodating, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Their attentiveness and professionalism enhanced the overall visit. Rating: 10/10 Price The pricing is reasonable, especially considering the generous portions and quality of ingredients. The value matches the dining experience well. Verdict Pho M&K Vietnamese House is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in the area, offering flavorful dishes and exceptional service. While the pho could use a bit more depth in seasoning, the appetizers were excellent, and the friendly atmosphere made for an enjoyable visit. A great spot for those looking to enjoy authentic Vietnamese cuisine in Richmond.

I didn't realize it was a chain with three locations in Metro Vancouver. We entered and the place was moderately busy. We were seated immediately. Rather typical looking restaurant but it was clean. Tables had QR codes for the menu and to place orders. We tried three things: - Deep Fried Durian Balls: Good. Becoming a fairly common dish now. Despite not liking fresh durian , I don't mind eating this. Outer layer is crisp and not too thick. - Rice Noodle with Tomato Broth: Good. Comes still boiling. Decent size, variety of toppings and a slightly thicker broth than most. Rice noodles are a bit soggy, but being all you can eat rice noodles is a nice feature for big eaters. - Yang's Chicken Rice Boneless: Good. Also comes boiling. Chicken is tender, and mushrooms have intense flavour. Service is minimal, but helpful. Overall, we were happy with our food as it was good, fast, and affordable. Not something I would crave, but a reliable option if I'm in the area again

We got in just before the dinner rush so were seated right away at the last open table. This place is a legend in itself, since their original location. Shanghainese place. We ordered: hot + sour soup - solid 4/5. Could use more heat but I like the level of acidity and they were generous with the veg/shrimp in it. Add some chili oil and you're good. XLB - theirs are big, and thin skin but still holds up well. Theres an aunty standing behind the counter making them nonstop. We got the regular pork ones and they were great. Absolutely loaded with soup (seriously, most soup in xlb ive seen in a long time) and the pork filling was nice and juicy. 5/5. shen jian bao - a lot less dense than most versions. Still quite light, and the bottom was nice and crispy. Filling was the same as the xlb. Also loaded with soup. This might be my fav version of this dish. 5/5. sauerkraut fish soup with noodles - I think this was made to cater to a more canto crowd, and I like it. Its lighter, much less greasy, and much less salty. Fish slices were cooked to perfection, still with some bite and not mushy. The purists may not like it but you can eat a lot of this and not feel sick. Could use more of the pickled greens though. 4/5. Total bill was $65 + tax and tip for 2 ppl, and we took home enough food for 1 meal. The restaurant itself is utilitarian. clean, somewhat modern and comfortable enough. There are some big screens showing stuff on TV. You can order with the waitress or use the QR code and order from your phone. Cash or debit only. Come here for no frills, high-value shanghainese food that is surprisingly light. Definitely recommend. Theyve been around for a long time for good reason.

Keep in mind they won't seat you unless your entire party has arrived. The total came to less than $30 per person, which is great value for money in Vancouver. While the xiao long bao and sheng jian bao were definitely the highlights of our lunch, I enjoyed all of the dishes. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for Shanghai cuisine in Vancouver. Xiao Long Bao ($9.25) Even with my questionable chopstick skills, the wrapper didn't break at all, which shows how well they're made. The broth was flavorful, with plenty of meat inside. I just wish the dipping sauce had a stronger ginger profile. Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings / Sheng Jian Bao ($8.50) Crispy on the bottom with a fluffy top. Interestingly, they have the same soup filling as the xiao long bao. Meat & Vegetable Wonton in Peanut Sauce ($12.95)This was the only dish I've never had in Shanghai (my friend told me it's commonly served in the summer, when soup dumplings would be too hot). Wine Chicken ($15.95)It was cute how they served this dish in a tall pot. It looks small, but there's actually a decent amount of tender chicken inside. Fragrant without being overwhelming. Crispy Rice with Salted Egg Sauce ($21.95)The flavor profile reminded me of Singaporean-style salted egg fried chicken (which sadly doesn't seem to exist in Vancouver). The crunchiness adds a nice balance to all the dumpling dishes we had.

But the fried chicken piece was about double the size than the one in Sapporo! Perfectly juicy and the crispiness is a nice contrast to the soup and soft vegetables. Beef brisket was soft and tender but would pick the fried chicken over the brisket. The rice was a bit lackluster compared to the more fragrant one in Sapporo.
