I work down the street at a large Corp office. I've been looking for a solid pho place to eat lunch at. For a while I had to settle for pho que huong. Which isn't baadd but not the best either. Anyways, Pho Mac just relocated to this location from what I know. So far I've tried the eggrolls, Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodle), and Pho dac biet. I think I've found a winner! This place is great! I took the shrimp pho photo midway while eating so it looks like there's less broth but really there was more! (I just couldn't wait to dig in) Very rich flavors in the broth I could definitely taste that shrimp flavor. We also ordered shrimp spring rolls and shrimp fried rice. Mediocre & not fresh. Pho: We got the pho tai bo vien. Deceivingly large bowl with some dainty portions. Broth is seasoned, but it doesn't consist of those herb-y flavors pho broth should have. Bo vien is definitely frozen and has a freezer burn aftertaste to it. Beef quality is pretty decent, but I think we got a children's portion? Overall, everything is overpriced, portions are practically microscopic compared to other places, and food is not completely fresh. Coffee: When I tried to adjust the sweetness to my cafe sua da order, I was told that it's not fresh and is premade. Why? Who knows. It takes less than 5 minutes to make *perfect* cafe sua da. For the area, this restaurant is pretty good family run restaurant. They speak Vietnamese, the menu is in Vietnamese (with some English translaitons), and they have solid dishes that hit the needs. I am from Southern California, therefore I am very biased and have high expectations for Vietnamese dishes and DFW in general has been rather disappointing. This location is pretty good for the area and would likely survive in Little SaiGon. I like their Pho Chin - beef brisket pho, Com Tam (rice dishes), and Bun (dry rice noodles with fish sauce). Their Bun Bo Hue is solid. My father who came to visit from Little SaiGon said it was awful, but my brother and I think it's pretty good. :) Their egg rolls are closer to real Vietnamese egg rolls with meat and not a bunch of veggies like Chinese egg rolls. I like their goi cuon thit - they use the proper sauce for this. I do not recommend their Pho Ga (chicken). The chicken is not good, the broth is incorrect, and they don't have the proper noodles (which is a small issue because outside of Little SaiGon it seems most restaurants do not have the proper noodles for chicken pho). I also do not recommend their chicken for rice or bun dishes because they are pretty bland and plain. In Frisco for work and asked someone where the best nearby pho was. She immediately recommended Pho Mac. Normally, I like to sit down at the restaurant for pho, but I was very tired, so I took a chance and ordered it over the phone to go. The man on the other end of the line was very nice and answered my questions patiently about the different types of pho they offered. I had called as I was walking out the door from work and drove straight to the restaurant, which took about 10 minutes. As soon as I walked in, a server immediately recognized I was likely picking up a to-go order and asked my name. The food was ready. Checkout was easy. And I could tell the restaurant would have been a nice place to sit down and eat. I was worried that, since I took it to go, the broth would be too cold to cook my beef adequately, but it was VERY hot even when I got back to my hotel. I put the beef in immediately, and by the time I was ready to eat, it was cooked. This pho tasted SO GOOD. I already loved pho, but this honestly gave me a whole new appreciation for the dish. I didn't feel like my portion size was compromised at all by taking the order to go. Their spring rolls with peanut sauce were also just what I needed. This was the perfect meal to relax with after a long day and I am thrilled that it was so enjoyable, even as a to-go order. tl;dr Pointless cost-cutting I've been coming here for years, back from when they first opened at their old location. I loved it, both for the good food and the friendly greeting you got walking in the door. Both are now missing. I typically order to-to every few weeks; the fried roll and fresh spring roll, plus a bowl of beef Pho with everything. Each time I've come since the pandemic, things have been getting progressively worse. It seems the old regular staff is now gone and it's being run by inattentive teenagers. However, this isn't my main complaint. The problem is that servings are noticeably skimpy. For example, you used to get a decent container of hoisin and siracha with the Pho, now you get 1 tiny packet of each. You used to get 4 sizeable pieces of raw round steak, this time I got 3 smallish slices. I'd write this off to a one-off mistake, but each time I've ordered recently, some portion of the Pho ingredients are missing. Let's talk about the fried roll. They used to be flavorful and perfectly fried, but this time they were bland and not completely fried. But the worst was that they only provided 3 tiny (1" by 3") pieces of lettuce, Not enough to even wrap all the way around the roll. How much money do you save by not including a full leaf of lettuce? Next, the Pho, seemed off as well. But it only included one small sprig of Thai Basil, 4 strands of cilantro, and one (!) tiny slice of lime, which was mostly rind, barely any flesh. C'mon now. I hope your management realizes that this kind of pointless "economy" hurts your business more than you'll ever save. It saddens me to have to say this to a place I've loved for years. read more

Located at my previous favorite Frisco Pho joint comes Pho Mac. We were seated right away, and their menus are standard for a Viet place. Their prices are incredibly cheap compared to other pho places which I appreciate. I like the option that they give you to choose multiple meats for a set price, which saves a lot compared to places which do a la carte. Our waiter had a nice sense of humor and was glad to have given us an extra plate of veggies at no charge. Pho came out relatively quick, and the food is a great portion. Update: Since my last review, I have been here several times. I am obsessed with their spicy beef noodle soup, Bun ho hue. It is sooooo good. The spice level is cough-inducing. I choked a few times, in a good way. I think this soup is the star of this place. The soup is light yet hearty. They give you sliced beef and Vietnamese "ham" which is more the consistency of bologna. It comes with some kind of congealed pork blood. I tried a bit of it and it makes the soup taste like you put pennies in it. I prefer to just leave it off. They give you cilantro and sweet bay leaf for garnish but instead of just bean sprouts, they also give you shredded cabbage. It reminded me of posole. Did I already mention it was hot? I also like their savory crepe and egg rolls. The service is always very sweet. So polite. ***** We have been here a few times already after this Vietnamese dude we know raved about the pho. He knew we were fans tothe pho at Pho Apple on Park and Parkwood. This is not really my favorite place for pho in the area. I think their broth is clean, but it lacks depth of flavor. I kept having to add hoisin sauce to it rather than just a squirt from the bottle. If you ask for more than one type of meat, they will give you mostly the cheaper cut of meat, but I appreciate that it doesn't have gristle. I would come here for the egg rolls and the savory crepes everyone raves about. I had never had it before and it was really delicious. You eat it like a lettuce wrap the same what you eat Vietnamese egg rolls. I also liked it just as a crepe. The service is very polite and friendly. You pay up front when you're done. My visit today will be my last. Literally sat down and had to cancel my order because my waiter came back and told me the owner will charge for extra veggies. Pho Mac is going to stay broke and I really hope the owners read this review. The fact that you would charge 1.00 extra for cilantro and 4 dollar extra for lettuce and for dishes that would generally come with cilantro and lettuce is foul. I've been supporting pho Mac for the last 2 years and will stop coming because the owners would keep wanting to steal from the Vietnamese community. This place is super good! When I'm craving pho, I love going here because of how close it is & how great their food actually is. Their menu is small HOWEVER, each item is really good. I've been here a few times in the past, but recently they've added boba to their regular menu. Yep--that's right you read correctly. I believe they own the boba shop right next door to them & they will deliver any type of boba drink to your table! It's so different & the boba menu has a large variety to choose from! Same great taste but they're only warm. The lettuce is now half the size. Price: A large combo now costs $1 more at $9.95. There are not many good Vietnamese options north of Richardson in the DFW area. Glad to have found a decent place for Vietnamese food closer to home. The pho was very flavorful and yummy. They allow you to choose three different types of meat to add to your pho all for one price which is nice. Having the option to order banh xeo was great as not all Vietnamese restaurants offer this. The restaurant is much cleaner/newer than most Viet places in Richardson/Garland. One star taken off due to the higher prices for the items as compared to other Viet restaurants. It is located in an area where rent is probably higher though. Overall, Pho Mac satisfies my Viet cravings without having to drive far. read more

This is my favorite place to go for Vietnamese food near my work and probably top 2 in Collin county. Favorite things to order: Banh Xeo (Vietnamese savory crepes that's crispy) Bun Bo Hue (soup is really good) spicy beef noodles, way stronger and more flavorful than pho if you arent familiar with this traditional dish.
