Cafe Sua (Da) so good!! Worth the price !!
    Caitlin D.

Thank you for accommodating all 12 of us when we suddenly walked in! I was thinking we could sit split up, but they put 3 tables together for us. Very kind of the man at the third table to move-- crying at his kindness because he didn't have to move while eating. I've eaten at a different spot in the same complex, but never had Pho Minh before. I think I'll start coming here more often, the prices are pretty good and it seems like it's a family run business. I really wanted bun rieu, but it looks like a sharing size bowl-- and I'm pretty certain everyone at my table wanted pho. So, I ordered a Pho Bo Vien, Regular Bowl ~$13. And Cafe Sua (Ca Phe Sua Da/ Iced Vietnamese Coffee) ~$5. They give a large amount of pho noodles! I couldn't finish it myself and brought half of it home for dinner. The broth was delicious, not too fragrant! If you want nuoc beo, there's no upcharge (my friend wanted it). My iced Vietnamese coffee came out very delicious, with notes of chocolate. It's strong and I love that they used crushed ice. I could tell they dripped this themselves rather than using Lee's Coffee Concentrate-- so hats off to them! My other friends ordered: Pho Ga, Pho Tai, Goi Cuon, Mi Quang, etc. They gave us sharing plates of herbs-- basil, lime, jalapeños, and lots of beansprouts. I love how fresh all of them were! Really great quality herbs here. Overall, I paid about $20 for my lunch! I'd say it was well worth it and I can't wait to come back again.

Amazing family owned gem in City Heights! The ambiance is inviting with an unassuming charm. Service was prompt and informative. The menu was diverse and would be a pleasure to explore more. I had the pho dac biet and a Vietnamese coffee. I was especially impressed with the diverse types of herbs they provided with the pho, more than just the typical basil, sprouts, jalepeno, and lime. If you like spice, Pho Minh delivers! Our waitress Nhi was spectacular and went above and beyond in providing us an incredible experience!!

Beef rib pho Service Pho Minh has solid pho, but the service definitely needs work. Don't expect much interaction--just walk in, grab a menu yourself, and order at the counter. The kid working there was mostly on his phone and didn't seem aware he was on the clock. That said, the beef rib pho is pretty good, and the quality is on par with other pho spots in the area. Come here for the pho, not the service.

This is our new go to place for pho now. We had a few pho for the past week because it was cold and rainy. Everyone knows that mean PHO TIME! The broth for the pho was delicious and the noodles/meat had a good amount. Service was great as the owner recommended a few other dishes that I will try as there not many other restaurants that serve dishes that they have. Come here and you will not regret it for PHO!!!

In an area saturated with Pho restaurants ("Little Saigon") Pho Minh stands out. It's hard to impress the local crowd which means if you're the newcomer to the area you need to try hard. Pho Minh excels at a few things - first, don't expect the pho to magically appear right when you sit down (the experience I had in many other pho restaurants). Rather, order what you want, and wait just a bit to get your pho piping hot! It's been a while since I was served soup that hot, and it was a great thing! Then, pho in of itself is a simple thing - a broth an ingredients that make the broth more flavorful as time goes by, because the ingredients impart their flavor into the soup. In the case of Pho Minh the broth arrives brimming with flavor, using quality ingredients. This makes for a really tasty bowl of soup. Seasonal - pho oxtail, a must try Great - any pho Mediocre - spring rolls. The peanut sauce needs some reworking Ambulance - 3 out of 5. Sort of expected in pho restaurants Service - 4 out of 5. Very personal, and with a great big smile Give this place a try, but keep it our secret! I don't want any of the charm and quality to go away.

Came here today for lunch and was blown away by the flavors. The salt and pepper chicken wings were crispy tasty goodness. Some of the best pho I have ever tasted. Big chunky bits of brisket. I had the Bun Ca turmeric fish soup and it was also absolutely delicious. Our server was friendly and informative. The only downside was the ambiance but honestly I took a star away and gave it back for the variety of quality flavors and meats in the food. I will definitely be back.

I had dinner here with my family after the SD zoo and it is the best PHO location we've had in San Diego California. It is a small location but family owned, very authentic and just really good. The service is quick and the workers accommodate to what you want. I do have to say chili oil is extremely spicy but, yummy. I would recommend the appetizers, crab cream puffs and egg-rolls before your PHO.

I got the filet mignon pho and the broth was amazing. i wish the meat was not so dry but besides that 9/10. Along with pork egg rolls , honestly extremely happy with them and would definitely get them again. amazing flavor. Great customer service, it looks family owned and they are all super nice and attentive. It's a small shop but amazing food and service!

Pho Minh on El Cajon Blvd may not be spotted immediately while you're driving through El Cajon Blvd, but what you will find out, it will not be your last visit once you've tried their food. Authentic, quality, variety, fresh, tasty and delicious! Their soups and stir frys are hits and are popular dishes, ones you can't find anywhere in City Heights, East County or Southbay areas. This family owned restaurant is a hidden gem. You will be lured into ordering dishes you've never tried before because the pictures on the menu look so good. You may also start venturing off in trying different types of foods you've never eaten before based on how Pho Minh prepares their dishes. Early last year, I was introduced to Pho Minh by my daughter. She constantly raved about all the assortments of soups she had tried at this place. She goes on to tell me that the fried calamari and fried tofu (both perfectly seasoned) will not disappoint. So, go figure, today, I am a fan of Pho Minh's tofu dish and have gotten others to like tofu too ! Likes: vermicelli chicken (and pork) spring rolls combo, egg rolls, salt&pepper chicken wings, pho rib, honey walnut shrimp, rice plate combos, mi quang, bun rieu, bun ca...these are just to name a few Dislikes: lack of parking space and tight parking stall size A 12-mile drive to Pho Minh in El Cajon Blvd is worth it. In fact, last week having lunch one day wasn't good enough. The family and I ended up doing a part 2 and made it back to Pho Minh the following day ! We're obsessed and we highly recommend Pho Minh!

Shan Xi Magic Kitchen has been on my Yelp Want To Go list ever since my brother and SIL told me…read morethat they really enjoyed a Chinese restaurant in Las Vegas and were told that a similar restaurant existed in San Diego. After their experience in Vegas, they tried Shan Xi themselves and glowingly talked about the delish food there. Today, 3/4s of my fam ate here and we definitely concurred with my brother and SIL's favorable assessment. 4.5 stars because their grub was amazing, but it could be more customer friendly where one of the staff checks to see if we need help ordering instead of ordering from the QR code menu. Shan Xi Magic Kitchen is located in the ultra competitive Convoy Asian District specifically on Convoy Street within the Convoy Village shopping center. The restaurant is next to our fave Asian drink place called Yun Tea, it's next to Olleh KBBQ, next door to Szechuan Chef, and a short walk to BB.Q Chicken. This is a popular strip mall, so it could be challenging for you to find parking. Parking is free for 90 minutes, but you'll have to pay after that time ends. Shan Xi is nice inside with gray brick on their walls, decorative lighting surrounded by rattan, Chinese dolls on a shelf, Chinese inspired figurine art on another wall, and a beautiful curio/screen containing Chinese knick knacks. Seating consists of tables/chairs and a long leather bench. Our servers were friendly, but to me having to order from a QR code is impersonal. I'd rather talk to a person, so that I can ask what they recommend. Plus, if diners aren't familiar with this type of cuisine, I'm sure they would have a bunch of questions. From Shan Xi Magic Kitchen's website, "Bringing the bold flavors of Northwest China to San Diego, Shan'xi Magic Kitchen serves authentic regional specialties. Our restaurants specialize in hand-pulled noodles, savory bread-based dishes, and traditional Chinese comfort food prepared with time-honored techniques." After being told that Shan Xi was similar to their positive dining experience at a different Chinese restaurant in Vegas, my brother and SIL tried Shan Xi and they were impressed by what they ate here and told us that we needed to eat here ourselves. Since my wife and I were off midweek, we invited our son to join us for lunch. We ordered the following dishes and feel free to mimick what we ordered: spicy cumin lamb burger, hand pulled noodle with cumin beef, beef magic fried rice, dry fried green beans, and a side of white rice. My brother and SIL love the lamb burger as a appetizer and we really thought it was tasty too. If you're not a spicy fan, this might not be for you, but the lamb was tender. The pita bread needed to be softer. Their hand pulled noodle with cumin beef was stellar, chewy, and delectable. Loved their beef magic fried rice and it ate really well by itself. The fried green beans were addicting, garlicky, and just yummy. I'm a fan Shan Ci and can't wait to try their other entrees. My brother and SIL were spot on with their positive reviews about Shan Xi Magic Kitchen. It was a blessing to have a spontaneous meet up with 3/4s of my fam and grub on some memorable Chinese food.

At first, she said the order only could be done on 1 bill. And then later she compromised with 2 bills, 5 people per table. That was nice of her! I just had 2 coffees before entering so I decided to skip ordering Thai tea. But they had a large drink menu, of fruit teas and more. My friend had the lychee tea which was very large and looked super refreshing! They also came by often to top off our waters which was nice. To eat, I ordered the $16.99~, Cashew Chicken Stir Fry with White Rice. It came with onion, green onion, carrots, zucchini, bell pepper, and cashews. The carrots were beautifully cut, but a little too crunchy for me to properly enjoy in the stir fry. Everything else was delicious! I think this could definitely be shared between 2-3 people. It was a lot for me, even after a large hike. The sauce was flavorful and not overly salty. I didn't ask for any spice level, but I think I'd choose mild or medium next time. My friends ordered-- - $12.99, Dirty Fried Chicken: This had a blitz coating of lime, mint, and spices. And it was decorated with thinly sliced green onions with a side of sweet chili sauce. The chicken was hot and plump, not dry, and very much mouthwatering! Would recommend. - $14.99, Thai Grilled Chicken Salad: Grilled Chicken Breast on a bed of mixed green salad, carrots, and cucumbers with peanut dressing. It reminded me a little of chicken satay~ it smelled and looked incredible. I think I might order it next time, when I want something light and fulfilling after a hike. - $11.99, Cream Cheese Avocado Wontons (6PC): These came out piping hot and when you took a bite they were oozing. It was very creamy and when you dip into the plum sauce it's a delectable bite. A nice appetizer to share with the table. - $16.99-$19.99 (depends on what protein you get), Pad Thai: This proportion was manageable for one person. The restaurant used thin rice noodles, but it didn't clump excessively compared to other restaurants. The prices are what you'd typically see at a Pan-Asian restaurant, a few dollars more than what you'd want to spend. But these kinds of restaurants, in my opinion, are for enjoying with others. So, if you're sharing food and all that-- the price is worth it (esp with the quantity that is given). Next time, I would probably order one of their noodle dishes rather than rice. Oodles by the Noodbar has such a large and diverse menu so I would highly recommend coming in to try them out.
