I've been here a couple of times because I live in the area. I haven't written a review because I didn't feel like there was anything to write home about after my previous experiences. However, my recent visit was exceptional and they deserve a positive review! I stopped by for takeout because I was feeling under the weather and was craving some pho. I ordered the pho with steak and meatballs. When I got home, I was surprised by the generous portion! They did not skimp on the steak. More importantly, the flavors were good. My boyfriend got the broken rice with grilled chicken. He thought it was very flavorful and was also impressed by the portion. My dad and I stopped in around 11:30 a.m. for a quick lunch and to finally try this place since it opened. The dining room was clean, quiet, and comfortable--good first impression. (The name matches a spot inside 99 Ranch in Kent; not sure if they're related.) We started with spring rolls. They were fine--fresh enough--but light on fillings (half a shrimp per section and a very thin slice of Vietnamese ham). For mains, we ordered Bún Riêu and beef stir-fried noodles. As someone who cooks Vietnamese food at home, the Bún Riêu was a letdown. Traditionally it's a crab-and-tomato broth with depth from shrimp paste; we weren't offered any on the side, and the soup didn't show much of that savory crab/shrimp-paste character. I also didn't notice any crab meat. The beef stir-fried noodles had decent flavor but were extremely oily, which made them hard to finish. Service was mixed. Our server was friendly and checked in--much appreciated. The food runner, however, set dishes down without a greeting or clarifying who ordered what, which felt a bit abrupt. Overall, I'd describe the flavors as more Western-leaning than traditional. Not bad or terrible by any means, but if you're craving authentic Vietnamese profiles, there are better options nearby. Suggestions to improve: offer shrimp paste with the Bún Riêu, boost the crab depth in the broth, go lighter on oil for stir-fries, and add a warmer handoff when delivering dishes. read more

I'm surprised that I haven't reviewed this location despite coming by here when it had opened. However, this is an issue as with each visit it got progressively worse. I returned here recently as my grandmother likes this spot but after today's visit, she seems to join me and my sediments about not wanting to return. Let me first start by saying this spot was originally a great pho and Vietnamese restaurant. They offered great eats with probably the lowest price in Federal Way for a few years. The portion sizes were good with plenty of meats or vegetables. The spring rolls here were big and served with a great peanut sauce that was topped with crushed peanuts. Now here is what happened that made me stop coming here. First, I have had several issues with orders here. The first was I ordered Bun Bo Hue and pork knuckle was listed as an ingredient but I did not see anything that looked like a pork knuckle. Mind you, I have never ordered a Bun Bo Hue ever but the fact that I can recognize a missing ingredient is concerning. They did bring me a side of it with a broth but had I not noticed it then that would have been unfortunate. Next, in three visits I have found a sticker, a piece of steel scrubbing pad, and a bug in my pho. Not only did it completely ruin my appetite but they didn't really offer much of an apology or seemed genuinely surprised. They would offer to remake it but I have lost all motivation of eating and they didn't offer any compensation. So I was done with this location years ago. In this most recent visit, we ordered spring rolls, egg rolls, #5 pho, #1 large pho, and large Bun Bo Hue. We received our spring rolls and egg rolls after a few minutes but I noticed that the peanut sauce was not as brown and lacked the crushed peanuts. Then I noticed the Bun Bo Hue was not as generous as before, it didn't have tendon like when I first had it. It seems like they have only raised their prices with no intention of keep consistency or quality. The broths were also packed with MSG as my grandma was even saying how she was so tired and took a nap which she never does. She also mentioned that the brisket was all fatty pieces and didn't enjoy any of her brisket which her pho was a steak and brisket combo. Additionally, we asked several times for napkins: when we received our appetizers and when we received our phos. They didn't even check in on us so there is absolutely no service. Finally, there were a few tables that had finished their meals and the dirty plates were left there even up until we left and it wasn't even busy on a Saturday early evening. I'm glad I stopped coming here and will continue to support other local pho and Vietnamese restaurants that have better quality, consistency, service and overall experience. read more

Stopped by Pho Chau 2 and unfortunately, the experience didn't leave a great impression. The food itself was just okay. Nothing particularly memorable, but not bad either. What stood out more was the lack of cleanliness throughout the restaurant. I was given my own water jug, but the lid had visible stains, which immediately raised concerns about food safety. The sauce containers had similar issues, though I get that it's tough for the owner when customers want different amounts. The table felt sticky, there were flies buzzing around, and an unpleasant odor lingered while I tried to enjoy my meal. I'm sorry but this review is based on my first time here. Ordered the beef spicy soup, it was 20% off and the banh mi pork sandwich. Food: My soup was not what I expected. Had some liver that were very dark, I was scared to eat them. The beef was also dark in coloring. This is the first time I did not finish my soup and I Love my pho soup and always finish them. Visiting the area and this place was so good we had to come back twice during our stay, and almost ordered our identical items again. Nice sized portions at affordable prices. Beef and broccoli had carrots and a nice gravy that paired well with the rice. Bun had a generous amount of meat, veggies, and lettuce. Crispy noodles were good as well. A great Vietnamese restaurant that serves traditional Vietnamese food. My parents live nearby and we love to take them here to eat. We also order food here to be delivered by Ubereats/Postmates. Restaurant is clean, parking available, no wait, friendly service and reasonable prices. Grilled pork chop with rice, pho, vermicelli with Eggrolls and grilled pork , crab noodle soup are some of our favorites. Don't forget the Vietnamese coffee ! You can never go wrong with their BBH and pho, but I also appreciate that they have an evolving / expanded menu with a ton of great options, including other noodle soups, vermicelli bowls, rice plates, banh mi, etc.! We went here a couple days ago & decided to try this small business. I'm a huge fan of Vietnamese food. Parking was really easy & convenient. Walking in, the guy was super nice and professional. We ended up getting the spring rolls, bonbohue, & combo pho. The spring rolls were so good! The bon bo hue & pho had a weird florally & sweet taste that I wasn't use to. We love to give these type of places a try because it could be our next go to. We ended up not finishing it because it seemed to over power the flavor but from other reviews they enjoy it. Finally found a place with good pho in this area. Ordered the large pho tai or steak pho to go. Portion-wise I was happy with the amount of broth and noodles but I think for the price they could give a little bit more meat, and they were also a bit stingy with the cilantro and onion. The broth is flavorful, the meat cut nice and thin, and I really liked the chili oil they give you with it. I could not finish that large portion of soup so next time I will order the small and pay for extra meat. read more

The vegetarian options (in the vegetarian section of their menu) are NOT necessarily vegetarian! Most of them have oyster sauce. I've asked several times about this, but they still use oyster sauce in most of their vegetarian dishes. That being said, I still love their veggie pho. Also, chicken pho does not mean it necessarily contains pieces of chicken meat; it only means the broth is chicken soup. Don't be like this Karen and loudly complain about your own mistake in reading the menu. Delicious and good value. I started coming during the pandemic to eat their bun bo hue and they have always been gracious enough to let me call ahead and order for dine in. A lovely comfort during uncertain times. One of the few places that have all the big Viet noodle soup dishes all on the menu--pho, bun bo hue, banh canh, bun rieu.
