My dad and I stopped in around 11:30 a.m. for a quick lunch and to finally try this place since it opened. The dining room was clean, quiet, and comfortable--good first impression. (The name matches a spot inside 99 Ranch in Kent; not sure if they're related.) We started with spring rolls. They were fine--fresh enough--but light on fillings (half a shrimp per section and a very thin slice of Vietnamese ham). For mains, we ordered Bún Riêu and beef stir-fried noodles. As someone who cooks Vietnamese food at home, the Bún Riêu was a letdown. Traditionally it's a crab-and-tomato broth with depth from shrimp paste; we weren't offered any on the side, and the soup didn't show much of that savory crab/shrimp-paste character. I also didn't notice any crab meat. The beef stir-fried noodles had decent flavor but were extremely oily, which made them hard to finish. Service was mixed. Our server was friendly and checked in--much appreciated. The food runner, however, set dishes down without a greeting or clarifying who ordered what, which felt a bit abrupt. Overall, I'd describe the flavors as more Western-leaning than traditional. Not bad or terrible by any means, but if you're craving authentic Vietnamese profiles, there are better options nearby. Suggestions to improve: offer shrimp paste with the Bún Riêu, boost the crab depth in the broth, go lighter on oil for stir-fries, and add a warmer handoff when delivering dishes.

I'm surprised that I haven't reviewed this location despite coming by here when it had opened. However, this is an issue as with each visit it got progressively worse. I returned here recently as my grandmother likes this spot but after today's visit, she seems to join me and my sediments about not wanting to return. Let me first start by saying this spot was originally a great pho and Vietnamese restaurant. They offered great eats with probably the lowest price in Federal Way for a few years. The portion sizes were good with plenty of meats or vegetables. The spring rolls here were big and served with a great peanut sauce that was topped with crushed peanuts. Now here is what happened that made me stop coming here. First, I have had several issues with orders here. The first was I ordered Bun Bo Hue and pork knuckle was listed as an ingredient but I did not see anything that looked like a pork knuckle. Mind you, I have never ordered a Bun Bo Hue ever but the fact that I can recognize a missing ingredient is concerning. They did bring me a side of it with a broth but had I not noticed it then that would have been unfortunate. Next, in three visits I have found a sticker, a piece of steel scrubbing pad, and a bug in my pho. Not only did it completely ruin my appetite but they didn't really offer much of an apology or seemed genuinely surprised. They would offer to remake it but I have lost all motivation of eating and they didn't offer any compensation. So I was done with this location years ago. In this most recent visit, we ordered spring rolls, egg rolls, #5 pho, #1 large pho, and large Bun Bo Hue. We received our spring rolls and egg rolls after a few minutes but I noticed that the peanut sauce was not as brown and lacked the crushed peanuts. Then I noticed the Bun Bo Hue was not as generous as before, it didn't have tendon like when I first had it. It seems like they have only raised their prices with no intention of keep consistency or quality. The broths were also packed with MSG as my grandma was even saying how she was so tired and took a nap which she never does. She also mentioned that the brisket was all fatty pieces and didn't enjoy any of her brisket which her pho was a steak and brisket combo. Additionally, we asked several times for napkins: when we received our appetizers and when we received our phos. They didn't even check in on us so there is absolutely no service. Finally, there were a few tables that had finished their meals and the dirty plates were left there even up until we left and it wasn't even busy on a Saturday early evening. I'm glad I stopped coming here and will continue to support other local pho and Vietnamese restaurants that have better quality, consistency, service and overall experience.

Pho Dac Biet was excellent! Atmosphere and service was bright and kind. My mom had seafood noodle and presentation and color was top notch.

This was my first time checking this place out since moving to Federal Way, and I really enjoyed it! It was pretty busy when I went, but the wait wasn't too bad at all. The lady taking our order was super friendly, though I do think she could've been a little more attentive. The food was really good, and the boba was pretty decent too. I'd definitely come back again.

View of the restaurant and the parking space

Stopped by Pho Chau 2 and unfortunately, the experience didn't leave a great impression. The food itself was just okay. Nothing particularly memorable, but not bad either. What stood out more was the lack of cleanliness throughout the restaurant. I was given my own water jug, but the lid had visible stains, which immediately raised concerns about food safety. The sauce containers had similar issues, though I get that it's tough for the owner when customers want different amounts. The table felt sticky, there were flies buzzing around, and an unpleasant odor lingered while I tried to enjoy my meal. Parking was also limited due to the small and crowded strip mall it's located in. Overall, the experience left more to be desired than enjoyed. JY review

Drove by here recently and decided to hit up the viet spots in FW. This place is decent, the portion is reasonable for the price. The workers are nice and polite. Plenty of parking spaces in the area. I would be back to try the pho and others stuff on the menu.

I put in a simple order for my son & I. My son's pho & side of rice came out within 10-15 minutes. I waited for our spring rolls & my vermicelli bowl well after my son had started eating. I asked about my food just before 7pm to which I was told it was still being worked on. I paid my tab then asked a short time later that I'd like the remaining food to go. At 7:15pm I went up to the register to request a refund for the items I never received. I was asked if I had paid my bill (by the same young lady that took my payment). I handed her my receipt & she informed me that my food had been ready. It's unclear why, it was never brought out. I had told her that we had been waiting for an extended period of time to which she agreed. I pointed out that another two person table, that arrived after us, had been served their food before us. The young lady plainly told me that it was out of her control since there were new people in the back. No apology just an excuse. No one took responsibility for the disorganization in the back. I again requested a refund only to hear that she didn't know how to do a refund. I'm the end, I was given the cash for the two items minus the taxes. I've been to this establishment in the past & never have I experienced this type of situation. Hopefully, it was just a one off because they have excellent food. For now, I have no desire to return

Since it was late, the place had several tables filled but wasn't a full house. There's tons of tables for groups of 2+ people, and I got seated immediately. Inside is brightly lit and very casual. With all my usual first visits to Vietnamese restaurants, I got their Thai tea and their grilled beef short ribs rice plate. That tea was standard and took a little while to prepare since staff had a bunch other delivery orders to fill throughout the night. The rice plate itself was tasty; the grilled beef short ribs looked burnt but still tasted as if they had all the seasoning as I like, and the meat still pulled off the bone easily, so it definitely wasn't overcooked. The rest of the plate is very standard but satisfying in my books. It was also quite nice chatting with the staff a little bit too on some of the dishes. This is a place I'd recommend for some good food, and they're also open slightly later compared to most other places around their vicinity, so it's also a decent choice for if you want foods little later than usual. Really happy this place gets constant traction, and I will be recommending here to my friends!

We came off a flight at Sea-Tac hoping to find something to satisfy everyone before the long drive home: The eye round and flank beef pho definitely hit the mark. My husband ordered the mixed beef, and not having had tripe before wasn't a fan, but still enjoyed the other meats in the dish and overall flavor. Egg rolls were excellent and the fried rice was a favorite for my 10 year old. My 12 year old sampled and loved every dish equally. The owner was exceptional and waited on us like a one-man show he was warm and friendly us and our kids. The wait wasn't long, but he surprised our kids with chocolate after dinner for waiting patiently and smiled and joked with everyone in the restaurant and he moved around the restaurant. The restaurant itself isn't anything too exception in terms of looks or presentation, but the food and family feeling to it has definitely earned the respect of locals getting take out. We'll add it to the list of great places to stop.

They have probably…read moreone of the most chaotic and confusing menus I've ever seen, but they serve some really excellent food. Walking in for a Saturday lunch into this establishment, the entire restaurant smelled like sizzling meat and aromatic herbs. This was a little past noon and most of the staff were in the back taking their lunch break. There was only a single guy in front managing everything. We placed our order at the counter and were given an estimate of 20 minutes for the food. It took exactly 20 minutes, and he even gave us a 2 minute warning when it was almost ready. #4 Combo ($28.99) - This is a huge portion, easily enough for two people. In fact, this was the only thing we ordered (they had run out of the other item we wanted) and we finished only around 75% of the meal. The plate includes an entire mound of rice under all the meat. The photos of this dish are deceptive - the meat on top hides what's underneath. It's actually an appropriate amount given all the protein, a far cry from other places that only give a small bowl of rice. The rice is fried until dry and leathery, sticking together into larger chewy structures. It's actually an excellent texture for this dish. And the flavor is phenomenal, giving the fragrance of herbs, ginger, garlic, and other spices. In terms of meat, the dish includes two Kroeung meatball that taste of lemongrass and aromatic herbs. There's crunchy garlic stuck to the outside and everything is pan fried until a crust develops from the great sear and char. The inside is so meaty, with lots of whole pieces of meat rather than ground. It gives a burst of fragrant umami. There's a chicken wing, stuffed with vermicelli and shredded chicken meat. Again, it has a very fragrant and lemongrassy flavor. The chicken skin pulled along the stuffing gives an extra oomph of texture. Finally, there's an entire chicken leg/thigh quarter. It's so good, one of the best chicken quarters I've ever eaten. I especially love the scoring on the skin of the thigh that allows the pan sear to really develop an extra crusty layer from the additional surface area. The chicken meat interior is so tender and juicy and gives such an amazing coconut enhanced flavor, full of umami. The chicken fat and skin gives that crispy fattiness that enhances the chicken to the max. Now that's how to cook chicken! On the side are some spicy and crunchy daikon pickles mixed with some mint. Also, a fragrant and really spicy minced pepper mixture that gives an instant fresh burn. It's not smoky at all. (5/5) Everything Theary Cambodian Foods serves is a flavor bomb right to the gullet. Delicious, delicious, delicious food. Too bad it's so far away from me, otherwise I'd be a regular.
