This is one of the best pho places I have been to so far. I ordered the vegetable and tofu pho, and it was fantastic. I don't believe this was really vegetarian because my Vietnamese friend said that the soup base is made with chicken broth. I still really enjoyed it, though! The vegetables were plentiful (mushrooms, carrots, cabbage, green onions, broccoli, fried tofu) and the side of sprouts, basils and limes was very generous as well. They also give you complimentary tea, which I liked. My friend ordered the pho ga (chicken) and said it was good but was a little lacking in flavor, however, he is Vietnamese and very particular about the way Vietnamese food is prepared. Good quality pho. Friendly and fast service. Good portions. I usually get their pho or Hu tieu both are always good. I did get the bo luc lac one time which was delicious but it took an extremely long amount of time to make. Everyone was about 3/4 of the way finished until I finally received my rice plate. Main reason why this place is getting 2 instead of 3 or 4 is because of the crappy service. I was trying to talk to a guy who took our order, and he hella ignored me and walked away. I like this place. It's cleaner than most. I always order the large #1. The presentation of their pho and garnishes is the best around. The rare beef in the pho is still rare when they bring it to you and it's arranged in the bowl in a flower pattern. The bean sprouts don't have those hanging brown ends and the jalapenos are nicely sliced with no loose seeds hanging around. The flavor of the broth is mild and not overpowered with cinnamon. After reading all the great reviews we decided to give this place a try. It was cold & rainy outside...perfect pho weather! The hubby and kids had pho & I had the bun bo hue. Both were excellent & very flavorful!! And the portions were huge & they did not skimp on the noodles like most places! So happy to finally find a good pho place near home without going all the way to San Jose! And of course I had to try the famous green waffle! Delicious!! This place is usually decent. Whenever we are in town we go here, but not anymore. We ordered food to go and I went to eat my food. I was eating Vietnamese Springs Rolls and you know what I saw? A SLUG! THERE WAS A SLUG IN THE SPRING ROLL. I am Vietnamese and have ate at many Vietnamese restaurants, but never have I had a slug in my spring roll. NEVER. A Milpitas staple. Sort of a bench mark for good pho. There are better places; but there are far more worse places out there. I give 4 stars based on the fact they are better than 3. The soup is good and huge so the value is a 4. All the other dishes are good but not great. Actually, for all you Viet-foodies like me: the banh tam bi is the best I have found. Congested parking in a congested area but that's not their fault, it's more the reason for their success. Service is fast and not rude, they accept plastic, which is a huge plus for me. Venue is relatively clean, a little small, but there are TV's and the restrooms receive regular attention. The smell of green waffles permeates the air and smoke from the kitchen is kept far from the dining area. I've probably have eaten here 100 times and have never been made upset. I went here for the first time last week and I really liked the Pho here. The broth is good and they don't add that much MSG to their broth which makes it much healthier. If you're a big fan of green pancakes, they make it fresh here and it smells sooooo good! You can't leave without having at least one. Service is decent and I love pho. read more

I've been here twice, ordered take out once and dined in another time. I'm just getting the hang of Pho, which I actually tried in a Vietnamese home. So far NOTHING has come close to the home cooked Pho I had but it was pretty delicious here. I have a good appetite and love Pho. The time we dined in (my husband and I) we ordered the spring roll and it was served with this ridiculously scrumptious sauce! We had two each and by the time our Pho came we were already pretty full! We gave it a go anyway and sadly we were unable to finish all of it. The noodles portion was ever so generous! I am definitely coming back, I'll have to take my time in looking over their extensive menu and try something new. read more

No more strange fuzz around the bowls makes me a happy camper! That being said, the pho's alright, but you're bound to have a taste of some MSG at virtually every Vietnamese restaurant that sells it. I ordered the broken rice dish with beef and sunny side style eggs, just the way I like it - but the beef had a not so soft texture and was a bit hard to swallow, so next time I'm going to Pho Nam for their Com Tam plates. Solid Vietnamese pho/food. I'm Vietnamese, I go to Pho Nguyen once a week for lunch. They serve all the vegetables (gia, rau que, and ngo gai) that should be served with pho. They give the right amount of noodles, soup, and meat. If you want the hanh dam, nuoc beo, hanh tran, they've got all that too. I've tried their beef stew (banh mi bo kho) and it's pretty good. Big ass bowl of meat, carrots, soup, served with a toasted baguette. My friends and I also order the steak cubes (Bo luc lac)- steak cubes sauteed with onions bell peppers, served with red rice or fried rice. I even ordered their bun rieu and it's above average compared to some other places. Their rieu tastes homemade, good broth, good rieu, fried tofu, tomatoes, and quyet. If you've got room to spare, try their green waffles- hot, fresh, made to order. read more

Business was pretty good, especially considering that it hasn't been open long. I tried the pho because I generally like to compare that between different restaurants. I liked the pho here actually. Came here with a few co-workers and the place was pretty filled up but not too long of a wait. which is good. I got my usual pho with steak and done brisket. It was pretty tasty broth but the smell was a bit different than other pho, no idea what they did but it was good. I'm writing this review because I have been to quite a few Pho restaurants and I have never ever ever ever liked Pho...but one day last week when our weather decided to take a break from the usual 80 degrees...I was feeling a bit cold and Pho sounded more appealing that masubi at the moment so my man and I stepped into Pho Nguyen. We were seated immediately and because my man is a Pho Lover he suggested the Pho Bac Biet which was AMAZING to me. Made fresh and the broth is exceptional. I'm officially a Pho addict. Pho Nguyen's got a cleaner and crisper broth than most Pho places. You can tell that they didn't add too much extra fatty stuff to make the broth heavy. So if you like light broths then this is the place to go. BUT the noodles were a little thin and the portions were a little small for me. The beef wasn't super fresh. I ordered rare steak but all the beef slices were fully cooked when I got my bowl :/ I also wasn't a huge fan of the chlorine smell emitting from their utensils/dishware. ate here today randomly just because we parked and didnt know where to eat. this place gets CRACKIN from what i see. it was around 1ish and people were still lining out the door after we got seated. the large pho, is super large. even my boyfriend had trouble finishing it. i like pho, but i guess this is a good example of "too much of a good thing". i got the small pho with brisket, and personally, it was good, but too much meat. like.. i just kept on finding slice after slice of meat after i was done with my noodles. got tired of it after a while. i dont know what it was, but after i ate here, i knocked out and took a nap for about 2 hours. almost didnt make the drive home because i was about to fall asleep like 5 times on the way. This place has really good Pho. I came here with a friend of mine on a late night and got there right before they closed. They were really nice enough to let us in. We ordered the chicken pho with white chicken meat. You can tell their broth is authentic and did not use any MSG. I would definitely come back here again. read more
