Surprisingly quality of my bun thit nuong (grilled pork vermicelli) was really good! When i looked at the prices I was a little skeptical because it seemed outrageous for a pho place but for the demographic they are catering to, I get it. Server was attentive and quick however, the food was not so quick so keep that in mind even on a slow night like a Monday, which is when I went. The decor seems a little cheesy, but it's cute nonetheless. read more

Had a great lunch at one of the newest pho spots in SD. This one is owned by the same folks as steamy piggy and flama lama and has awesome decor just like the others! Menu is really simple, just a few things on it. Tried the short rib pho ($15), which was excellent, meat was tender and flavorful as was the broth. Good portion size and food was out quickly. The restaurant started to fill up around noon on a weekday. The server was friendly and prompt with service although seemed like just one waiter for the whole restaurant. Would return for sure! read more

Tried this pho spot today and ordered the vermicelli along with their new grilled pork spring roll. The vermicelli was fresh and flavorful, and the portion was generous. The grilled pork spring roll had a nice balance of crispy and savory pork, making it a great! Never had this one before. Place looks pretty nice. Service is pretty fast! Came on a Friday evening and got sat before the rush came. The green Thai tea and egg coffee are superb. Me and my partner both ordered the pho nom. It comes with all three meats on their menu; meatballs, brisket and the beef rib. Soup was flavorful and meat was soft. Jason and James were a great help with our questions and overall had an enjoyable experience. I think I'll share the ribs next time though. read more

Tried out this new pho spot and wasn't really impressed. Inside has cute decor, located in the busy plaza with Crab Hut and O'Brien's with limited parking. We came at opening at 11am and were the first customers since we were on a time crunch. Don't be fooled by all the great service reviews, they solicit for good reviews with mentions of the servers names by offering free Thai tea and soft drinks. Our half asleep server even said if we want two free drinks we must leave two reviews mentioning him. We ordered two bowls of pho and it took 30min to come out, our drink took about 15min even though we were the only ones there. Thai tea tasted like iced milk with no sweetness or tea aspect to it. Pho broth was decent but nothing that made it stand out from other pho spots in San Diego. read more

The passionfruit lemonade is sweet, tart and refreshing. The boneless meatball and short rib pho (PHỞ SƯỜN THỊT VIÊN) is full of flavor and the bowl is plentiful. The grilled pork rolls were amazing, with the added crunch of the egg roll skins. The pho fries are a creative, delicious take on loaded fries. Overall, great experience - would recommend. Stopped by for lunch as we saw the business while driving down Convoy, and so glad we stopped in. The ambiance is so pretty with how they decorated the interior of the restaurant. Danny was extremely personably and multitasking so well. single handedly managing the front of then restaurant and balancing everyone's needs and orders coming out. We started with a Vietnamese coffee which was the pick me up we needed for a long morning. The eggrolls came out quickly after and were piping hot, but deliciously crunchy. The short rib and meatball pho came out next. My husband liked this one in particular compared to other pho places because the broth was much more beefy in flavor vs a heavier star anise flavor. The bun was also very filling. Portions were decently large for us with enough leftover for dinner. read more

Came in Saturday night and there was no wait. Waited less than 10 minutes after ordering for our food to come out. The broth in the pho was soooo good! It had good flavor and still tasted clean. The meat in it was super tender too. The fresh spring rolls were okay. The pickled vegetables were wet so it made the wrapper fall apart fast. The waiters were nice and fast whenever a customer needed something. I'd definitely come back! read more

With coffee served from Provecho, matcha from Nami and hojicha from Paru??? You just hit a trifecta of GOOD good. Our Typical Order: 1) Iced Earl Grey Latte - omg, I LOVE the earthiness that the earl grey syrup brings to the matcha. It has that grounded taste that coffee gives, and the hot version of it is like a HUG for your mouth and stomach. They also have cool inventive flavors like the Matcha Cloud, the Coconut Cream Cloud (which is a coffee cloud on top of coconut water, I hear it's refreshing), so you'll never get tired of the drinks they have here. I also want to mention that they do serve wine and beer, too... so there's something for everyone! FOOD Spend any time in a coffee shop and know... you're gonna get hungry! Sadly, seems like my main dish was the only one that was off. For the side dishes, I do highly recommend the potato puree. The roasted mushroom is again, overly salted. For dessert, we ordered coffee and a tiramisu cheesecake. Amazing amazing cheesecake and excellent coffee. When I asked where the coffee was from, the server actually gave us a free bag of coffee beans since they actually don't sell the coffee at the roaster, so I really appreciated this gesture. Overall, I think the quality of the food here is somewhat inconsistent. Some dishes we had were great and others were off. But the excellent service here (and the fact they gave us free bag of coffee) warrants an extra star, which is why I'm giving this place a 4/5. Would I come back to this place again though? Probably not given how expensive the food is and the inconsistently quality, but it was nice that I gave this place a try in San Diego.

I came for their two signature dishes while vacationing in San Diego: a bowl of Pho Nom followed by Vietnamese Egg Coffee. Both dishes lived up to and surpassed my expectations. The bowl of Pho Nom was massive, and it was a challenge to get about two-thirds of the way through it. This was a beef lover's feast filled with tender slices of short rib and brisket, wonderfully tasty beef balls, two huge and meaty back ribs, and topped by a perfectly poached egg. The broth was poured by the server and was richly satisfying. One of the best bowls of pho that I have ever had. This is likely a meal that could serve two people. I was very, very full at this point, and I'm not sure how I managed to consume the Vietnamese Egg Coffee, but I was not going to miss out on the opportunity to try this unique beverage that is uncommon at most Vietnamese restaurants in the northeast. Richer than the usual Vietnamese coffee, but just as satisfying. Since it was served over ice in a take-out cup, I was able to continue enjoying it in my car for the better part of the afternoon. Pho Nom is clean and comfortable, the service is excellent, and the two dishes that I had were top-of-the-line. My only regret is living almost 2,800 miles away. read more

The portion size is actually quite big, bigger than I expected with a generous amount of noodles & protein. I believe you're getting what you pay for. The broth by itself without anything else added yet was different than any other broth I had but it was good. Very beefy with a nice blend of the fish oil. The chili oil that comes with the bean sprouts, lime, and rest of the fixings had such a good flavor! Although the restaurant only has around maybe 12 tables (?) it adds to the intimate setting and overall cozy atmosphere. Whoever designed the interior should absolutely get a raise. We settled on mostly 2-3, but wow--the Thum Khao Poon (shredded green papaya salad) still packed some serious heat! Even my spice-loving kids were challenged. The server also gave us a heads-up that it's very fish-forward in flavor, which we appreciated and happened to love. The absolute standout of the meal was the Nam Khao Tod. It was hands down the family favorite--crispy coconut rice with pork sausage, crunchy peanuts, fresh herbs, and so many incredible textures and flavors in every bite. We could have ordered a second plate! We also had the Drunken Noodles with chicken, which were slightly oily in the best possible way, making them extra rich and delicious. The Chef's Special Basil Stir Fry with Crispy Pork was another winner. Our server brought over a chili vinegar that elevated the crispy pork to a whole new level--it was so good drizzled over every bite.
