This place is a hidden gem, it's kind of far out tucked away but so worth the drive. GET THE PHO, THATS IT! 10/10 The wait - 1. There was a long line outside, but it moved fast! 2. They have a boba tea cute store attached so you can get boba tea while you wait The food 1. Pho was insanely good - you cannot go wrong with any of the PHO here. 2. Fried rice was mediocre, so were the spring roles, but that's totally on me for trying to explore stuff on the menu haha.

Rating: 3.8/5 [dine in] We came on a Friday night and were seated right away. Service was pretty fast, and they provide water bottles. A09 Garlic Fish Sauce Wings ($9.50): The menu said 5 to 6 wings, but I think we got 7. The sauce was good, but the wings were a bit dry. BM2 Banh Mi Dac Biet / Special Vietnamese Sandwich ($8.50): Yum, fresh soft bread and overall delicious. The flavors were a bit homogeneous, and I wish the pate and mayo stood out more. P09 Combination Pho ($15.50 Regular): The broth was very light and didn't taste like the beef bones were simmered long enough for the flavors to come through. It tasted better after adding hoisin sauce and Sriracha. The broth-to-noodle ratio was also off; there was more a lot more broth than noodles.

It's been over six years since I last had Pho Phong Luu, and the scene today looks very different from my first visit. It's 2026, and while Pho Phong Luu has moved to a new location with better parking and ample dining, it hasn't lost what makes it special--its efficient chaos and unforgettable flavor in every savory bite. Even in the larger space, the restaurant stays consistently packed. Every nook and cranny is filled, and if the front waiting area doesn't clue you in, the overflow seating next door at HK Tea certainly will. Despite the hustle, everything runs with impressive efficiency. The team moves fast, the operation seamless, and the place buzzes with parties and backgrounds of all kinds. Portions are generous. The food is authentic, bold, and deeply satisfying. No notes. You're doing amazing, sweetie.

If you're craving a delicious bowl of hot pho on a cold day, Pho Phong Luu is the place to go. Our go-to these days is P04 with eye round steak and brisket, $14.50 for the regular size. Pho comes out fast and is served at the correct temperature (scalding hot). Vegetable condiments are always fresh. The broth tastes so good that we always finish it all. Wish I had a bowl in front of me right now!

I came here on a Saturday around 11:30 am. Surprisingly, there was not much of a long wait and we got seated pretty quickly. I decided to order shrimp spring rolls ($6) and combo pho (15.50). The combo pho was delicious and the broth was refreshing. They put lots of meat in the pho and it just melted in my mouth. The shrimp spring rolls came with a peanut sauce and tasted amazing when combined with the spring roll. The ambiance was really nice and the food came out pretty quickly.

Hands down the best place to get pho in Austin. The broth is always deeply flavorful -- you can tell it's made properly with bones simmered overnight, not just powder. Honorable mention are the fish sauce wings which are fresh and made to order. The wings used to be much bigger, but they're still good. Service is consistently fast, and the menu is straightforward and easy to order from. I also love the combination bánh mì.The Thai tea is solid, but the Vietnamese coffee tastes like it's made from a powder packet, so I'd personally skip that. There have been some pricing changes and the wings are smaller than before, but overall everything is still solid. Even with the slight increase in price, this remains my go-to spot for pho in Austin.

You might have to wait to get in, but once inside and you order, your food comes out quickly. I ordered Pho with brisket. There are other things to order and different proteins. Lots of soup and meat. I added a little lime, some spicy sauce and a sweet sauce for flavor. It came out excellent. They feed a lot of people quickly. So the tables are close. It reminds me of a cafeteria except there are chairs and no benches. It was crowded today and we waited about 15 minutes to get inside, but worth the wait!

Best pho in town I love the rare beef option and my husband got the banh mi He also loved the sandwich but wish he would've gotten the pho instead and he isn't as big a fan as I am! We also tried the fish sauce wings - amazing so good!! We tried the egg rolls too - great starter! Service is quick and plenty of parking since it's in a shopping center Nice and clean inside the dining room too! It's a little far for me personally but it's my favorite spot for pho now!

Come here if you want an exceptional bowl of pho. This place is always packed, but the waitlist moves quickly, and they're quite efficient with making sure tables are cleared as soon as people are done eating. It is connected to HK Tea, where you can grab a tea while you wait, or just sit and wait for a table to be ready. The pho itself is simple but flavorful. I would skip getting the spring rolls, but the banh mi is quite good. Just double check their hours ahead of time because they're not open everyday, have midday break hours, and close early on the weekends.

You know a pho place is good when: -There's a constant line on Sunday. We waited for ~30 min since we had 7+ people. -There's a bunch of Asian people eating here. -The pho resembles my mom's homemade pho. It hit the spot. The broth is clean, pure, and flavorful. - I finished it all of it. This is a hot take but I didn't need to add hoisin or sriracha. Fresh jalapeños for added spice is good enough for me. -I ordered a kids size because the regular looks big. But you can upgrade to a large for $2.50. You can only choose one meat for the kids size. I went with the thịt chín (brisket) and they were so generous! The brisket was delicious and tender. -My fiancé ordered the đặc biệt (special) with all the meats. I tried the bò viên (meatball) and thịt tái (round eye) and they were both good. But I prefer the thịt chín (brisket). -They're not open for dinner on the weekends (they probably run out during the lunch rush). The Vietnamese coffee was good but it was too sweet for me. Overall, the pho was great!

A pho/Vietnamese spot that does right and does not have booth seats that smell like a wet rag! I came here a few times, the pho and rolls are always good. The ingredients are fresh and they actually cook the tendon through to be soft and edible. Expect the place to be very crowded and the hours of operation are very narrow. But they do move fast. Just remember to physically write your name on the waitlist. Probably even add a last name. I was surprised to see my name there more than once. I've yet to try the other things so looking forward to coming back and doing so. Connected to this is a tea place where you can wait and will lose more of your money there...... But I know better.

It's a decent Vietnamese spot. Unfortunately I don't see why other people claim it's the best one in town though. The wait can be quite a bit of time (not an hour but also over 15 min) and you have to stay put and not leave because their waitlist is you writing down your name and your party size in a notebook. No phone number or anything like that -- so you cannot leave the building if you don't want to miss your turn. It is a busy spot and people come and go pretty fast. The servers are nice and quick as well! The Pho was pretty good, I got a P08 and Shrimp Spring Roll. The broth was nice and fatty, not too salty nor bland, just right. The spring rolls were....just spring rolls. I liked them. I would come back there specifically for pho, since it seems to be their specialty, and the restaurant is fairly close by.

Not sure why I haven't rated this place yet because I have been here so very many times. It is probably my favorite pho place in town. It's just so clean. The broth is so clean. It just makes you not feel too bad after you eat this. Its always hot and fresh and fast when it comes out. So very fast lol They are so busy for a reason. Today is no exception. It was so busy during lunch hour on a Saturday. There was a lot of people and a huge line outside. We had to put our names down and it took a good not too long 15 minutes or so and we almost had to share a table, but they were gracious enough to give us our own table if we waited a little longer. We tried the wings for the first time because sometimes it's out. It's a little steep for six wings for 9.50 but it was fried perfectly well and delicious. Very tasty with a lot of fish sauce. My usual combo was perfect. I love how they give you a lot of different cuts of meat and meatballs and lots of noodles. Well worth the large. My friend got the tofu pho and all the times we've come everyone has gotten different items. We even tried the banh mi one time and it was delicious as well. I see they have rice plates now. Slowly expanding their menu. So smart! This place has been consistent. It's definitely my go to place. I tell everyone about if they want a good pho place. They don't open all the time though so always check the hours. They don't need to. They can afford to close half the week because of so many people coming all the time. So happy for them. Happy it's not too far from where we live. It's kind of fun that it's connected to Hong Kong tea next-door. Have yet to really love their drinks there. I've tried multiple, but it's just fun that is connected and you can hop right on over. Very smart as well. Worth the visit if you haven't tried a good pho up north.

This is a no frills kinda restaurant so go in with that expectation, but the pho and special banh mi were soo good! The pho was very light tasting and flavorful enough (not the biggest flavor bomb, more subtle and homey) but the banh mi was the star for me. It was different than other banh mis I've had, perhaps it's the softer yet crispy bread that resembles more of a sub roll than a baguette, or the Mayo/butter that I haven't really experienced elsewhere. This is the one place we've come back to repeatedly for takeout throughout the pandemic and I can't say enough about their attention to quality, consistency, and detail. I know there are all the "fancy" mainstream-appeal kinda places offering wagyu beef or tiger ribs or whatever douchey sounding ingredients but if your broth isn't up to snuff who the hell cares? Best pho broth in Austin by a mile... and comparable to places in Houston (that alone is high praise). Been eating pho in Austin since 1995, I've literally had all of 'em so this isn't vapid hyperbole. I have a message for the owners. PLEASE open a location downtown (that place where that Mad Greens on 2nd and San Antonio would be perfect). You will have absolutely no competition, all the hungover people will be there for breakfast, all the tech nerds will be there for lunch, all the health nuts will be there for dinner, and all the drunkards will be there after hours. I will help bankroll and market this project. Call me, let's talk. ;) read more

Super thankful for finding this place on Yelp because my experience here was amazing. The sever was super friendly and very quick. We got bottle water, wrapped chopsticks spoon and napkins in a small basket placed on our table. Music playing was classical and calming. Menus are on the wall clearly labeled in English and Vietnamese. Our food came out quickly. Hot and fresh. Portions are quite large which is awesome especially cuz the price is so reasonable. I got the P09 combo pho, shrimp spring roll and the BF got P04 eye round and brisket with their Vietnamese sandwich. If you're looking for a Vietnamese pho eating experience, no fusion, where more than half the clientele is Asian. It's here. Amazing. Will 10000% be coming back here. read more

This was my first time having pho, and I was so impressed! The broth used in the pho was extremely delicious and heartwarming. Everything tasted fresh and the service was really lovely. I went with my dad, who has been to Vietnam, and he said this pho was less spicy than those at Vietnam. However, they put house made hot sauce on the tables which was a great complement for those spice fiends. We also ordered Vietnamese milk coffee which was so addicting!! I highly recommend. And to finish it off, we shared coconut water, which was incredibly fresh and refreshing. 10/10 read more

This is the best pho we've had in Austin, and it compares to what we had when we visited Saigon. We got a large pho tai chin to go and put it together at home, and it was absolutely wonderful. The broth was sweet and full-bodied, but not over the top, and the flavor was perfect. We got a special banh mi as well, and it was excellent -- the baguette had great crunch, the sweet mayo was very good, and the pate was flavorful with a great texture. I was a little skeptical but once I got here it was clear this place is legit for Viet food. The banh mi for sure is the best in Austin and probably the second best in Texas. The shrimp spring rolls are pretty good too but I wish they had crushed peanuts in that dipping sauce. read more

On the hunt for a bowl of pho in the Austin area and this one is the best I have found so far. Their soup is a bit on the "sweeter" side but taste great and they serve those "asian" cuts in their pho like "sach" (tripe). Place is clean and the Vietnamese ladies that work there are nice and quick in their service. Overall, a good honest place for a quick bowl of pho. read more

Hands down best pho in Austin. Recommended by a friend of mine who owns another Vietnamese restaurant. Tried Pho Phong Luu for the first time today and really enjoyed it. Broth is clean, and deep with beef flavor with just a hint of sweetness. Meats were all top notch and cut to order. Best meatball I have had in soup. Portions were perfect size. Staff very friendly and attentive. My only complaint would be to have more rao with soup but everything else was perfect. Can't wait to go back! read more

This is a bit out-of-the-way from where I'm staying but I'm very very glad I came! Their pho broth is made fresh and you can definitely taste it. The flavor is fantastic . No Siracha needed! I also had the fresh shrimp spring rolls which were very fresh tasting as well. This pho was so incredible. We got a p05 and a p08 and boy oh boy we're they delicious. We got take out and everything was packaged really really well. The broth was rich and delicious with subtle warm spices. The meatballs were a perfect texture for pho meatballs and the brisket was amazing. Such a big fan. The spring rolls were good too but the pho was the star. The atmosphere when we came to pick it up was very inviting and made me happy. read more

After the last bad experience, they reached out asking for the chance to make it right. They offered the three orders of the nem nuong goi cuon and two bowls of pho on the house! (A re-do of our last delivery order) This was a very very nice gesture and shows they truly care about their food and customers. Wow. Talk about excellent customer service!! We picked it up instead of taking the free delivery and tipped generously. The nem nuong spring rolls were delicious as ever. I really could just live off of those and I bet if they had a food trunk in West campus for these rolls alone, that truck would be thriving!! Drooling as I think about them now. The pho broth this time actually had more flavor than the last two times we tried it. It was definitely a lot better. Before it tasted quite bland, but this time there was a little richness to the broth. I can confidently say I was happy with the meal this time. Thank you Pho PL for going above and beyond. Hands down the best pho in Austin! You can tell the ingredients they use are better and the broth is amazing. I'm not sure how they do it, but you can tell that they use better ingredients than other places and it's also very clean, natural tasting with great flavor. There's a lot of great pho and banh mi to be had in Austin, but Pho Phong Luu is hands down the best. Even friends from Houston (who often look down their noses at our local Vietnamese restaurants) have been blown away by this place. You'll want to check their hours before heading over, but this place is definitely worth a visit. read more

Good food but service isn't the best haha. When we went, the servers were children who would then sit down to play video games during their free time. I'm going to be lenient though because it is obviously a family run business and I totally understand. Anyways, the pho is pretty good but their banh mi's are the real deal!!! This place is the best Vietnamese food in town. Their pork spring rolls are awesome. They seem simple, but trust me. Excellent pho as well. Karen is the best as well. Saw the 5 star reviews, and had to check it out. Clean looking space, with the typical bathrooms for pho places. Saw their sign that says100% no MSG and was delighted. I usually dont drink the soup bc I am sensitive to msg, even resorting for awhile to making pho at home instead of eating out. Ordered the spring rolls. You can't mess up a spring roll, and it was fine. The Pho was amazing. Ordered it with tendon, tripe and fatty brisket. Drank some of the soup for the first time in many years. The music was fine dining style piano playing over the speakers. So uncommon for a pho place, but I liked it. This may be my go to spot for pho going forward. Will try the sandwiches next time. read more

How did it take me over a year to discover you?! Beat pho in Austin area! The broth, the meats ughhh so freakin good! I drank the whole bowl and that's rare! They're located in a hole in wall kinda place. Can't wait for their new location to open up so I can get my pho fix! First time my son ever ate so much! Def recommend and will come back! read more

The restaurant itself is inviting, with a clean and cozy setup that makes for a comfortable meal. The staff were courteous and efficient, ensuring everything ran smoothly, which I appreciated. The pho was good and clearly prepared with care. The broth was flavorful and comforting, though it lacked the deep, aromatic complexity and robust savoriness I've come to expect from places in San Jose, CA. Cannot put it in even top 10 in San Jose. It leaned slightly sweeter than I prefer, but it was still enjoyable. The noodles were well-cooked, and the meat was tender, though not as standout as some Bay Area counterparts. The portion size was generous, and the accompanying herbs and bean sprouts were fresh but I couldn't get the nuac beo or pickled onions. Why? That's messed up. I have tried all the pho possible in Austin. I am from Houston so have had a good amount of pho there too. This place was a great surprise. The pho is possibly the best broth I've had. It's my new favorite go to spot for pho. Broth is so rich and flavorful, and infused with lovely spices giving it an aromatic flavor. It's soothing, delicious, and portions are perfect. The balance of noodles to broth and toppings are all perfect. Iced coffee is just delicious too, some of the best I've had. I ordered the Pho Dac Biet large togo. This was during the COVID pandemic. There was enough food for 2 people. Everything that was raw beef was wrapped in plastic for safety. Very neat and clean in the togo box. Even the broth cup was inside a wrap. Onions and scallions, 1 hoisin sauce pack and 1 sriracha pack included. There was alot of effort put into my togo order. And there was barely any effort for me to put it together and enjoy. Food is amazing as always. I will always come back here for some pho. read more

Excellent place for authentic pho! The broth is rich, aromatic, and you can tell it's prepared properly -- deep, well-balanced flavor. The meat is fresh, and the portions are generous. I also enjoyed the appetizers, especially the spring rolls -- fresh and served with a delicious sauce. Service was fast and attentive, and the atmosphere is simple and welcoming. You know you've come to the right place for a beef pho when that's the only thing on the menu. The broth was rich and meaty, the portions huge and the price was good. The place was so amazing and has great options for food. This place didn't disappoint me at all. Everything was worth to try especially the Banh Mi Grilled Pork and Pho Tai Chin were delicious and has great flavor and packed of ingredients. Nice experience for lunch. read more

Easily the best pho in Austin. The broth is so flavorful it doesn't need sauce! I got the combo pho, but I'll try the shrimp pho or vermicelli on my next visit. Don't forget to try the sweet gruel. Interesting textures and wonderful simple flavors. Family-owned and very welcoming. read more
