The sign for this place says Vietopia, not Pho To. I used to come here years ago when it was Pho To and it was good then. We went yesterday, the place is really run down looking and not as clean as it used to be. The service was slow, the servers working barely spoke English, they weren't Vietnamese but spoke very little English so we had to point at items and it was hard to order drinks. We got a mango fruit tea w mango jelly and a honeydew milk tea, both were horrible. There was no sugar in either of them, both were very bitter and tasted like chemicals. For appetizer we had spring rolls w very dry pork, shredded lettuce, shrimp and hot overcooked vermicelli noodles. They were not good. This was such a delicious lunch! I ordered the lemongrass tofu vermicelli and my guy ordered the pho. Both dishes were prepared with flavor and presented beautifully. Ended up here because Rollz was closed down from 11-24-21 to 11-29-21 and it was the 27th. We then tried to order online and You and I Kitchen, but that wasn't working so we just sort of started looking around and saw this place, which was open. We got our food to go. Staff was medium friendly. As we waited for our food I got to watch one of the employees greeting about 4 groups customers as they came in. It was clear that as they started getting a little busy she was getting a little shorter with the guests. I don't think I'd want to see her if they were slammed. I got the Bun Bo Hue. At first bite I was impressed, as the flavor was quite strong although there wasn't much heat. As I continued eating the flavor actually started to be a little overpowering and towards the end I felt like this broth was made from a concentrate. I just enjoyed this less and less with each bite. I'd definitely pick Rollz or You and I Kitchen for this dish in the area and their would be others on this about Pho To list if I was willing to travel a little further. Oh, almost forgot. They put the lime, Thai basil, jalapeno and sprouts all in a rather large bag. There was well over half a cup of water collected in the bag when I opened it up. Neither I or my daughter eat the sprouts in our soup but if I normally did I wouldn't have this time. I was glad to have them as a buffer so that the dingy water stayed off the other stuff. My daughter got the Meatball Pho and I didn't ask her how it was. The dining room was okay. A little dingy and their counter area was disorganized and unappealing. It makes me concerned about the kitchen to see a food prep area in full view that is not tidy and well organized. Their prices are high. It's been awhile since I've came to eat here but I can definitely notice it wasn't the same as the very first time! This place and gossip was always my go to for Bun bo Hue but I don't think it will be anymore. Especially with prices for their food increased by a lot. With Covid makes sense that they would increase but they went from $8 pho to almost $15. Which I thought was insane considering their food was okay! If it how it was when it first opened I wouldn't minded but I can definitely tell they changed cooks or something! I was disappointed that they don't give all the veggies that normally come with Bun Bo Hue, they just give your pho veggies. No cabbage or red mint. I do appreciate that they always hook it up with the Vietnamese ham since I don't get the beef. I'm not sure if it's because we came late but the noodle ratio was way off. There was hardly any noodles and the noodles that were in there where like small as if they had been cut. The broth was okay but did not have much flavor as when I used to come a lot, because it did taste a little watered down. I had a delivery order so can't comment on service or environment. However, pretty disappointed on the food I received. I ordered a Thai Tea Milk Tea, Crispy Egg Rolls, and Grilled Beef Sandwich. The Thai tea was disappointing as it wasn't sweet all and was actually a bit bitter. The egg rolls were just right though, and saved the meal in my opinion. This place has really stepped up their game since I was last here. Fully packed restaurant and the servers were on top of everything. Pho broth & meat were still delicious and smooth without the added grease. The vermicelli dishes were still fantastic, the egg rolls I thought were so-so. This review is for doordash delivery so Ive never been to this location. The pork rice plate with egg roll was bad. I mean egg roll was ok because fried food is good but the meat was fatty and like beef jerky. Plenty of rice and a sour tomato cucumber lettuce salad. By sour I mean it had gone bad. We kept looking for this place and almost didn't find it. The sign says Vietopia Bistro, so don't look for Pho To. We were kinda skeptical of trying it, but I was hungry so we did, and we are glad. I had the # 40R with pork strips, rice, spring roll, salad and egg. I'm not going to say it was the best food I ever had, but it was definitely delicious. My husband and nephew had the Special Pho. The generosity of the meats was superb. Let's not even talk about the flavor, DELICIOUS. We then took the walnut shrimp to go. When they say lightly altered, they really mean grilled :). You could barely see any bread, which to me was attested to their generosity to give you more substance. The grilled veggies with it and sauce was excellent. We haven't had such good boba drink since we've been to Las Vegas. (We've tried many in utah) this place took the top in flavor. CAVIAT, almost didn't give 5 stars for this, the actual boba was more firm than soft. I have them the benefit of the doubt this time, I hope to not be disappointed next time. It was a really cold night and soup sounded really good. We were going to another pho place across the street that we've always gone to but passed this place instead. We decided to try Pho To but decided not read any reviews on it. The place seemed pretty busy. When we were seated, I noticed that the customers that were seated at the booths were not seated every other booth which was not social distancing. I ordered a water and a Diet Coke. They had the GOOD ICE!!! I was kinda full so we decided to share a bowl of soup and ordered angels egg rolls. The egg rolls came first. They were about four inches long an itch and a half thick. They had a little noodles, carrots and pork inside. The egg rolls were served on some shredded lettuce and a cup of fish sauce based dipping sauce. The egg rolls had good flavor but needed lettuce leaves and cilantro to completely be Vietnam style. The pho came a few minutes later but they forgot the condiments plate of string beans, jalapeño, cilantro, lime, and basil. We ordered the Pho Tom which is the shrimp soup. What's loved that this place does that none of the other places I've been to haven't done is, they peeled the shrimp tail! The pho soup base was AMAZING! It had the right balance of flavors and lasted until the last drop. Usually, flavors at most pho places do not last until the last drop. This place has had the best flavors we've had so far in Sal. So why only four stars? Well, they are expensive for pho. $12 for the shrimp bowl. I can see paying $10. Then there's the service. They weren't bad, but they weren't great. I also ordered a taro smoothie with lychee jellies. For $5.96, it was a good sized cup. However, the taro flavor was very weak and there was not enough jelly. I'd rather get a smaller cup from Quicly's and enjoy the flavor in a smaller, cheaper cup. I would definitely come back to this place until I find another place with good flavors at a lower price. I haven't been a fan of Pho after I stopped eating meat. Just not as good as ramen to me. My cousin kept begging me to go with her and this spot had great reviews from people I trust so I decided why not. It was snowing and freezing in Utah so something warm did sound nice. I can now say after trying the pho here I am a huge fan of pho! I crave it constantly now. Their tofu pho has so much flavor! You can get vegetable broth or beef broth. The serving is large and the service was superb. They're boba drinks are very good as well. This had become my go to pho spot and lucky me that it's so close to me! I've dined in and take-out from this place a few times. It was my favorite pho place however, this last year or so, the food I've received was sub-par and service is really slow. When I dine in, it takes about 30 mins when there are only 2 other occupied tables in the restaurant. I remember being excited about eating good pho. I bite into their food just for disappointment to fill me again- I realize that the food's taste has gone down so much. The servers always seem to not have an expression- they just have a straight face. I understand that workers have a bad day, but it seems like everytime I dine in, they seem like they aren't so happy to be there. I have no problem with people's emotions, but with the servers' vibes, it brings down the atmosphere in the restaurant especially if the restaurant is empty of customers. This is definitely our new favorite. The design of their place is very chic and modern - I love their booth seats. The staff is super friendly and nice. And like every other great pho, you need to make the best broth and this place nailed it! They serve really good boba drinks, we would even come here just for boba to go. This place serve spring rolls and their peanut sauce is darker than other pho places but for some reason I looooove their peanut sauce the most! I ordered the durian smoothie and the pho dac biet. The durian smoothie was good, pretty standard stuff. Not a lot of people like durian, but I grew up with it and absolutely love the flavor!
