This place is the best Vietnamese restaurant in Mountain View. The chef here use to work for Vung Tau Restaurants that closed down after 4 decades in business. The service was really good! They were super nice and checked in on us plenty of times throughout our meal. They offered us free garlic wings since it was our first time which turned out pretty good! I wanted a substitution on my rice dish and they made it happen, which was great. The food was okay. For this area though, it's decent. The pho was flavorful and came out really quickly. My rice dish did take a while but it was fresh, so I know they were working on it. The portions were generous!! We had enough for leftovers the next day which was nice. I think their menu is extensive, I would recommend for them to narrow it down to just a few categories and work on perfecting those items before expanding and having so many items on their menu. Overall though, it was a pleasant experience. They had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and parking wasn't hard to find either. I finally got to try this Pho place; it is very decent! The hubby and I came here on a Friday afternoon for some early dinner around 4:30; the place was mostly empty, which I liked. It's been raining so much under this gloomy weather I was craving something hot and steamy and.. beefy haha. Both of our bowls came out very fast, noodles good, broth good, beef good! (a la joey tribbiani). The only weird thing was instead of lime they gave us lemon wedges. Size S is plenty. The place is pretty clean inside with décor from the early 2000s; they have your typical push cart going around cleaning up tables & plates, each table has your usual stash of sauces and chopsticks and tiny sauce dishes and plastic spoons. We got: - Chicken curry with noodles [$12.99] added a baguette [+$1.50] - Grilled pork patties spring rolls [$6.50] - Grilled chicken over rice [$12.95] I love having my vietnamese curry with both noodles and baguette - I usually have the noodles first then use the bread to soak up the rest of the sauce.. but this particular curry soup was quite thick so it was perfect for dipping as first meal, then I reheated/added a bit of chicken broth in to thin it out for noodles for the next meal, only con was that the chicken was quite tough but flavors were good. Husband got the grilled chicken over rice - not the best we've ever had but quite good. My favorite thing was actually their grilled pork spring rolls! First off, Pho Tran Vu is probably your best bet for pho this side of town. I know because I'm lowkey addicted to pho, but I can't always drive to San Jose. I've had the Pho, Bun (vermicelli bowls), and Stir-fried Hu Tieu, and they're all quite good. The rare steak and brisket meat are more tender than most places, and tendons are cooked to melt-in-your-mouth consistency. The Stir-fried Hu Tieu was a nice surprise! I had the seafood one, and it had a solid amount of shrimp, squid, fish, clams, and mussels. But seriously, this place is so darn expensive. I really, really like the food. Open til 11! What a great find in this random shopping center halfway between Palo Alto and Mountain View. We were on the hunt for some clothing items and accessories for my mom's big trip to Cabo and found ourselves hungry just before 10pm, the time when most restaurants are closing and fast food is not what you should be eating. What a relief it was to find this restaurant with THE BEST Vietnamese food. This is my favorite type of cuisine so I have pretty high standards when it comes to Vietnamese restaurants. Prices here were a little high for similar dishes elsewhere, but the quality of the food blew me away. They use that super fresh and tasty patagonia shrimp - so clean and satisfying. They were also very generous with their portion sizes. We shared the mango and grilled shrimp salad (delectable!) as well as the spring roll with shrimp. The wraps on the spring roll were a little tough, but to be fair we were there late in the day. They were filled with fresh veggies and mom was impressed! Usually she complains that the rolls are not filled with much but not here! She couldn't say enough about how good the rolls were. I had the shrimp vermicelli bowl and mom had the shrimp and pork combo vermicelli bowl. We both sat in silence as we savored every bite of our delicious entrees. This is a great place to go for Vietnamese food. Their pho broths are flavorful and the meats are really good quality. I personally love their grilled meats which are really tender and juicy! I highly recommend the spring rolls with grilled chicken or pork, the grilled rice plates, the chicken udon soup, and any of their pho options. Also the fresh noodles "love it" One of the original Pho bowl from Vietnam is using fresh noodles "fat noodles". Very rare to find fresh noodle of Pho in Mountain View. I had the veggie spring rolls and vegetarian pho and both were delicious. Restaurant itself is nice and clean, plenty of seating even when I came in for a weekday lunch. A disappointing visit to Pho Tran Vu on a Sunday evening. While the restaurant was busy, it wasn't overwhelming. Service: I ordered an appetizer with my entree but never got the appetizer. Only when my pho came out did the server ask if I ordered anything else. Orders are entered table side into a tablet and there was a lot of punching of buttons yet my food was missing. Water was never refilled after the initial glass was dropped. Food: the broth had a off-putting smell when brought to the table. Missing was the usual scent of star anise, cardamom, coriander, and cloves. The broth lacked flavor, likely watered down do you it being close to the end of the evening. Noodles were fresh and slightly chew. Beef was sliced thin but bunched together in the broth into clumps. I probably eat 100+ bowls of pho annually. I'm sitting at home and about to eat my second serving of the large sized Bun Bo Hue I ordered from here last night. Yes, it's large enough to be dinner + breakfast. So many of my favorite restaurants have closed during this pandemic that I felt the need to write a review about Pho Tran Vu. I don't want it to go the way of the Dodo. People should really give it a shot. First off, being a San Jose native I'm spoiled with my pick of authentic Vietnamese restaurants in the South Bay. Less so when you get to the Peninsula. Despite Pho Tran Vu being so close to the Google Campus and thus perhaps catering to the palates there, I was shocked that their Bun Bo Hue was so flavorful and had all the fixings (except the pork hock, which to be fair, I'm not a huge fan of). Even the beef brisket they top the soup off with was lightly sautéed in chili oil. I only get the Bun Bo Hue here (it's that good) so I can't speak on anything else on the menu. But give it a try if you're into authentic Bun Bo Hue. Or give their Bun Bo Hue a try if you never had it before! read more

We ordered the pork, shrimp, and egg roll vermicelli, peanut sauce spring rolls, and chicken curry. All were very good but the highlight was that our daughter absolutely loved one of the waitresses. The waitress was very playful with our daughter,which resulted in the restaurant being filled with the cackling laughter of a two year old. I really appreciated the waitresses' attitude and engagement and letting our daughter explore the space. The inside of the restaurant is much nicer than expected. There hasn't been a dish that really stood out to me here, but it literally has all the right skews of Vietnamese foods I like...so If I were to crave anything - from Hieu Tieu Nam Vang to Mien Ga, this place will DEFINITELY DO. RECOMMENDATIONS: Pho Ap Chao - Beef was on point. Sauce was savory and fried chow fun was a good texture. My second visit, I tried the Seafood Pho Ap Chao (with crispy noodles) and liked it again. They could've added a little more fish, but for $13ish it seemed ok. The pho is great! I love the broth it's a perfect balance of salt and flavor. I usually don't deliver but nowadays it seems that it's a better option to go with.
