The meats were good, but the shrimp was a little fishy. I loved all the fresh veggies and pineapples it came with though! I suggested the hu tieu to my friend, so they can try something other than pho. It looked really comforting! Service is really cute. The old man would ask if I'm done with just gestures. This place is fairly close to where I live and since my roommate was sick, I decided to stop by to get him soup. Parking isn't easy, but I was lucky to find a spot just around the corner. The man at the counter was very nice and efficient with my order. He even chitchatted with me a bit while I was waiting for my food, which I appreciated. What I liked when they gave me my togo order, was they reused a box from one of their supplies. I always appreciate it when a company does things to help the environment and they aren't wasteful. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed with my food. My Shrimp Spring Rolls were flavorless. While I did like how they separated the carrots and peanuts from the peanut sauce to prevent sogginess, the peanut sauce was incredibly watery. The consistency was not correct and there was almost no flavor to the sauce either. However, the ingredients inside the spring roll were very fresh and the shrimp was good. I also got the Pho Tai. My favorite part of the dish was the amount of meat they gave was very generous and it is good quality meat. I didn't like the broth or the noodles. The broth was extremely bland and a bit salty to me. Even adding in Hoisin sauce, sriracha and chili paste didn't make it enjoyable to me. The noodles weren't my favorite either. I'm not sure what it was, but I didn't like the texture of them at all. All in all, I was pretty disappointed with this place. I really wanted to like it since it is close by. Honestly, they could have been having an off day, but I doubt I'll be coming back here again to find out. read more

This place is a staple for my family and I when it comes to Vietnamese food. There is a quite a few options for Vietnamese in City Heights but this one is currently our favorite. To start I love starting with their Vietnamese spring rolls that are simply BOMB. Possibly the best. Though their order for four is $10 each roll is a generous portion and severed along side with their pickled dipping sauce and fresh lettuce leaves. I loved the pan fried noodles with the flat wide noodles. Easily a meal for two. The plate portion is huge! Parking is not always the best but I always tend to get lucky. There is never a wait any time I've came and there is always plenty of seating. Inside it looks clean and service is generally good. This weekend when the hubby and I went the waiter messed up on our order and when we asked to have it fixed she said "NO" she argued that we ordered what we got. Even if that were true I'm annoyed that she wouldn't want to exchange it especially since we hadn't touched the plate and as soon as we saw it we knew right away that it wasn't what we wanted. Luckily my husband is open to trying news things and was ok with keeping it. Suggestion would be to try and please the customer. The lady was quick to say NO and not be open to accommodating us. my family and I were starving when we came through the door 20 minutes prior to the store closing. They welcomed us in and served us quickly. The store was clean though nothing fancy. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. I had the bun bo hue while my family had the pho- we found both to be delicious. They give you a lot of noodles and a decent amount of meat, but I felt like the broth was a little on the weaker side. Just attended the restaurant this evening. Food and service were terrible. We asked for two spring rolls they gave us four, we asked to have the bean sprouts steamed they came out cold. Then the soup, noodles were raw and hard, broth was watery and lacked flavor. Seemed like they rushed getting the soup to us. We complained to the server but nothing was done. This place was good in the past but we cannot spend our money here anymore and have to look for a new pho place. I was pleasantly surprised coming here! I didn't know this location existed until my friends brought me. I am part Vietnamese, so for me it's hard to find a good Vietnamese restaurant. I was very excited to try! I typically order Pho Ga (chicken pho) when trying the pho for the first time. The most important thing is the pho broth. And I really enjoyed it! It was flavorful and wasn't missing anything. It made me very happy to know of another good pho spot. I also tried the charbroiled beef vermicelli, as that's another one of my favorite dishes, and it was also very good! My husband enjoyed his combination fried rice as well, which had a combo of several different proteins. The only thing is there is very limited parking, but you can usually find a spot either on the street or in their very small parking lot in the back. Lady at counter very rude . I ordered pho and they gave me plate of bean sprouts and herbs and 1 small slice lemon and i ask for another slice of lemon they charge me a dollar for 1 slice . . I waited 15 min for my food and lady had bad attitude when i said i ordered rice plate and you bring soup out and the rest of my guests watching 1 person eat for 15 mins and they should of brought appetizers out first but no , only 1 pho and every one just sitting there. Plenty of options from com tam, pho, banh hoi, and chicken wings We got 2 bowls of pho with fresh pho noodles, super big plus that they have fresh noodles as we haven't come across any other restaurants that carry fresh pho noodles Our small bowl was super full and they did not skimp on the portioning! Pho Van is a good Vietnamese restaurant! I have eaten here on a couple of occasions and both times I ordered the vermicelli bowl. This time it was the shrimp, pork and egg roll version. The meal itself was near perfect, except that one of the shrimps was not fully cleaned out. The pork and egg roll were terrific! I would say the shrimp was just a little over-cooked too. My friend ordered a pho offering which was very appetizing and good in taste as it was reported to me. Pho Van is not Saigon Star, but it's not PhoXpress either. I think it's somewhere in between. I would say the dining area is spacious, but on this occasion it was really busy at lunch time, which caught me by surprise! This does mean that this restaurant is well liked in the community and it was good to visit it a second time. One funny came when the man who brought my meal asked if I wished to have a fork with my meal - I said yes as I am very rusty with the sticks! Well, he never came back! I decided I was going to attack the meal with the sticks and let the vermicelli fall where it may! In the end I prevailed - ate all of it with the sticks (used a spoon just a little at the end to assist!). I was quite happy afterwards but just learned how rusty I am with the chopsticks! I've been coming here for years! One of the few Asian restaurants that provide a little bit better service. Food is always on point and big portion so a great value for the price. They're known for their pho. The broth is so flavorful and delicious. And they do not scarce on the meat! I usually always have leftovers. The last few visits, I have tried to try new items. Again, all were so filling and tasty. Haven't had a dish I didn't like here. Recently they hired a new host/waitress who is Hispanic. She's so nice and always has a warm big smile on her face. It's so nice to see that and truly appreciate the warmth she brings to the atmosphere. She's very attentive and makes the visit even more pleasurable. This is their first location and I have been to their Santee location (2nd one) first before knowing about this one. Service is really great here and the Pho broth was smooth and not so greasy. I ordered the Pho No 12, with no onions or cilantro and egg noodles instead of rice noodles. Also ordered the fresh coconut, they cut that open and poured it into a cup with the coconut flesh/meat. Open on Christmas Day 2023!? After a night of celebration during Christmas Eve, soup is usually the hangover cure. Such a blessing and thankful to this business for being open on a major holiday. The restaurant was jam packed for lunch but I was able to place a takeout order easily upon entry. The service was very friendly and organized. I ordered 7 bowls of pho, 2 orders of egg rolls, 1 spring rolls, and 2 banh mi. They have a few TVs playing the NBA/ NFL game while I wait. The large order was ready within 10 minutes and packed in one large box to easily carry. I had my handful with my 2 year old and one of the staff insisted on helping.
