Since there was a change of owner I feel like this establishment has gone down hill. The previous owners actually ran the restaurant themselves and their customer service was excellent. I don't think the workers now know how to smile or greet customers. I was standing at the counter to make a take out order and the young man came to the counter 5 times and did not acknowledge me. I finally had to ask if I could make a take out order. The food is not as tasty as it was before. The last time we went in the summer roll was falling apart. The pho was really bland. And they gave us a free tapioca which was old. It was so sour! Tonight I only ordered porridge that took 1/2 hour to make and $20 for a bowl of porridge is pricey. The host was very kind and understanding. We had two adults, two children and one baby. She was very accommodating to our needs and brought out cute animal shape bowls and soups for the littles. Also, food came out very fast. The pho all tasted great! It was kids approved for sure. We also had their fried spring rolls that was crunchy and good but wish it had more filling. I am so happy my friend introduced me to this place!! She's told me countless times that this is her #1 go to for pho and wow she did not let me down! The service was amazing. We had a sweet lady take our order and my friend goes so often she knows her name and what she orders. Great customer service! I felt very safe eating here and our food came out very quickly. I ordered takeout of two dishes and the subtotal with tax was $31.31. Paid with Visa and added $2 tip. Only noticed on my receipt later when reconciling the statement that they added a "credit card surcharge" of $1, which is 3% "to cover the cost of accepting credit cards." It's possible I might not have seen a sign that should be prominently posted at the cash register, but I won't know because I'm not going back there. I used to love their spring roll vermicelli but today it was different. The spring rolls used to be light and crispy. Now they are heavier and more oily. The rest of our group had ordered pho and noticed a disappointing difference in the quantity and quality of the meat. There were also fewer vegetables (basil, bean sprouts, etc.). What they used to give per person had to be split between three people. I understand the restaurant has new owners and they may still be in the process of refining and familiarizing themselves with the menu. I hope it gets better. read more

Interesting place!! Love the way it looks inside very cool. Its like a bar and restaraunt.I wont even try to describe it but will include pics. A pic tells a thousand words :) The staff is very attentive and cool. We got here around 5:30 pm ...we took awhile to decide on what to order but when we did the food came fast and all at the same time (A plus for sure) We all went with pho with the thin steak. I was expecting the soup to be very generic like alot of other vietnamese restaraunts but their soup was better than average ... The steak was thin with no stringy or rubbery fat...yum!! So I've lived in Manoa my whole life and I love pho, vermicelli etc... yet I've never been to this location. I've narrowed down my 2 favorite places frlm.Stadium Pho to pho viet. Stadium Pho sauces have a little kick, while pho viet doesn't. I love both. This location does have a bar in it. I didnt even know how big it was until I walked in. The restataunt could most definitely use an upgrade, however it's super clean. Nice high ceilings and nice staff. Food came out very quick. Portions size is perfect ! Parking at manoa of course free, and there is tons. The new(er) elevator takes you right upstairs to the restaurant. read more

When CK suggested we have lunch here, I thought this was just a Pho place, but it turns out they have a ton of other tasty goodies as well. Having said that, I was invited for Pho, so Pho it was. I'm not a huge Pho fan, but this was really tasty (due in no small part to the fact that it was not buried in *ugh* cilantro)! There was lots of Thai basil, bean sprouts, jalapeños, and lime. The broth was also flavorful and it came with plenty of noodles. CK taught me a trick which is to put the jalapeños in for flavor but not actually eat them. Service was very friendly and our server made suggestions without being pushy (one of the true arts of serving, IMHO). This was so enjoyable, I'm going to go back to try their "not Pho" menu! read more

My go to order is the rare steak pho with summer rolls and a thai tea. Set with a whole bar, moody lighting, and pink walls you're guaranteed to have a relaxing meal. You have to try this place. I specifically recommend their pho, the broth is super flavorful and the portion fills you up. I got the large beef balls and steak pho with the steak and the side. The owners recently changed and it's just not the same Pho is still good (a little saltier than before but ok) and so glad the menu didn't change but everything seems just a little too corporate now. It's loosing that mom and pop shop feeling which is a little sad but good for them I guess? - No more sizes for the pho only one size. I always got the extra large so I could share some with my toddler (who clearly is too little to get his own bowl at 1.5yrs old but eats enough out of the new size that I am left a bit hungry after). Pho also tastes a bit different, a bit saltier than before and tastes like it's missing some rock sugar or something. - They have more servers but the service seems to have declined...??? the old owners were just so attentive even on busy days. We used to go at least once or twice a month and the old owners remembered our order every time down to the exact drink, appetizer, and entree. Not too motivated to keep going back unfortunately. + They still have winter rolls (my ABSOLUTE favorite thing and everyone needs to try them, kind of like a spring roll summer roll combo). This is the only place Ive had them and I hope they never change the menu/take them away. +/- a little easier to see the price breakdown of everything on the menu. New owners seem a little more "corporate" in the sense that they have printed receipts and a square POS machine, menu TV boards, servers with uniforms, etc. idk how I feel about it tho... + the takeout has gotten much better in terms of ease and presentation. Packaged much better than before and makes it more convenient. Before I would only want to eat in but now it's a good takeout option as well. + looks like they might be expanding to have a full boba bar? Manoa Marketplace doesn't have one of those (just some blended powder stuff in the korean places) so it would be interesting to see if it's good. I went here last night for dinner. I was feeling a little under the weather so I thought eating some hot pho would be the best remedy. We got the combination pho, spring rolls, and bbq pork and spring rolls with vermicelli. The pho had a nice flavor. It came with all the condiments such as lemon, bean sprouts, jalepeno, and mint. I added hoisin and sriracha. There were many different types of meat. I think it had meatballs, brisket, tendon, and tripe. They all worked in harmony. The spring rolls were deep fried a cripsy brown. It was flavorful and the dipping sauce was nice too. Finally, we had the bbq pork and spring rolls with vermicelli. The pork was cooked nicely. Overall this was a good restaurant located in Manoa Marketplace. Service was attentive and friendly. Food was good. The price wasn't too bad. read more

We had such horrible service on Christmas Eve. The previous owners were always so attentive and friendly, no matter how busy they were. Tonight made me really miss them. It wasn't even busy. I had told the waitress that I wanted stir-fried noodles with tofu, and asked if it had broccoli. She said yes. When it arrived, it was stir-fried veggies, mostly white cabbage, with rice, which I did not want. It was so hard to flag down the waitress, and she told me "you ordered stir-fried vegetables." No, I know I said noodles. Other restaurants would have tried to correct it, as this was a misunderstanding. Nope. She just walked off. By the way, if there was any broccoli, it was just a stalk or two, no florets. I left just eating the tofu, and will never go back. read more

This is a pretty large restaurant located on the 2nd floor in Manoa marketplace. They have a large full bar, TVs and a pretty extensive menu of all things Vietnamese. Man, I forgot how expensive pho is in hawaii! (what's up with that!?). The rare steak with tripe pho was pretty decent, not the best I've had but hit the spot. The spring rolls were also good. It's spring break, and what better way to spend an evening than with my best friend?! Once again I've been having my pho craving. So I yelp'd "pho" around the Manoa location. There's a lot of parking though the closer parking stalls were already full, so I parked further from the building and closer to the bank. Read the signs just in case it's reserved parking! I didn't know where this place was since I didn't even realized that the building it was in existed! There were a lot more options that I almost decided on going to a different restaurant. Dawn knew how to go up to the second floor--there's a staircase on the side. She also told me on the way that this is a chain restaurant with the Pho place in Aiea (http://www.yelp.com/biz/pho-viet-aiea), WHAT--that really started to discourage me since I really didn't like their pho. How do you know that you're heading to the right place? They have a HUGE PINK banner displaying the restaurant name. Who'd miss that? In my opinion, it looks fancy for a pho place. Inside it's HUGE. twss They also have Christmas lights for some lighting and the walls are PINK--meh a light pink but still PINK. The bamboo chairs are cool looking. Dawn and I weren't sure where to sit... Or if we had to wait to be seated... We waited of course. There seemed to only one person waiting tables. Aside from us there weren't much parties. They also had a bar. I wanted a table with a view and luckily the waitress led us to a window table--not much of a view though. Of course we got side-tracked catching up with one another. She had to come back another round before we ordered. This is one of my favorite pho restaurants. I am not a seafood eater, so usually I don't order any type of rolls from pho restaurants because they use shrimp or crab. However, this is one of the restaurants with non-seafood spring rolls. It's one of the reasons that I go to this pho restaurant more often than not. The pho itself is good. The medium (the smallest serving) is pretty filling. The broth is very good, but I have to add that spice, so I add their hot chili pepper oil to give it that kick. Usually the broth is not too salty and there is at least 4 decent size pieces of meat that come with the pho tai. The servers are really nice. They may not alway be attentive, but they are very courteous and remembers their frequent customers. When I am in the mood for pho, I usually come here; not just because the food is good, but also because it is in town and there is a lot of parking available. read more

I like Manoa. Although I can't afford to live in this elitist enclave full of university professors and others with generations of old money driving Nissan Leafs and Toyota Priuses, I can patronize the shops and restaurants in the area and enjoy my role as a "poser" Manoa man. My teenage daughter and I wandered in here for a late lunch on a recent Saturday. She ordered the barbecue chicken plate, and I had the large pho with round steak and meatballs. I asked for the smaller size, but the server (or maybe owner) told me it wouldn't be enough, and he was right, as the large size was just enough. The basil, bean sprouts, and lemon were the right amount, without wasting anything. The broth was good. Though it's not my favorite place for pho (the broth is everything), it will do in a pinch.
