Decided to try this per a coworker's recommendation - was glad I did. The BBQ pork rolls were pretty fresh and crunchy (loaded with veggies and a strip of pork), and the avocado durian shake (a tropical fruit found in Southeast Asia) was creamy and delicious (not over-poweringly sweet). The grilled pork banh mi sandwich was good. It could have been a little more spicier and less of the sauce but still enjoyed it and would encourage people to try it if nearby, especially as the food is quite affordable. Loved our pho, but not a fan of the crispy egg rolls. The crispy egg rolls were soggy on the inside.. Really strange texture. Also, while we enjoyed our pho, we were slightly disappointed that they did not have more choices for the tripe of pho (no mixture of different types of meat). It was also a little, just slightly, on the pricey side. I used to being able to get a small bowl for $6-7. Either way, better than what you can get in chapel hill or durham. read more

This was only my second experience with Vietnamese cuisine, the first being some mediocre bun. My wife ordered the small beef pho, I got the large brisket pho, and we split crunchy eggrolls and bbq pork springrolls. The eggrolls were good, the springrolls were awesome, and the pho was just amazing. Not having other pho experiences to compare to, I'm not sure how they stack up against other popular pho spots like Taste or 9n9, but the flavors were complex and everything was cooked perfectly. I had to force myself to stop drinking the broth after I had eaten the last of the noodles. Even with a voracious appetite going into the meal, the large pho was plenty to fill me up on its own. Ordering was slightly awkward since there isn't exactly a counter to stand in front of, it's more like you hang out beside the POS as they type the order in. Not sure if this is the system they'll be sticking with, or they're just ironing out grand opening kinks (the menus are currently just printed on the blank back of what looks like kids placemats). Honestly, those types of things don't detract from the overall experience, more that it gives the place character. It's really all about the fabulous food. I thought this place was great for a quick weekend lunch. The shrimp basil rolls were on point and hit the spot. The vermicelli pork bun is what I always go for and I thought it was great here along with the prices being super cheap. The bahn mi sandwiches are more then 2.50 here which seems to be the norm at least in Atlanta where I moved from so I wish they were a bit cheaper. Parking is real easy to find a place since they are as standalone restaurant with parking around the building. I don't understand why this place only has a 3.5 average. The pho is clean and delicious, the egg rolls are big and full of flavor, and the staff is kind. The best part? You can add as many meats as you want, no extra charge- score!! I love pho, and I'm picky about my meats, so this is a huge plus. * Pho with tendon, brisket, steak : The soup base was clean (as clean as any oily pho dish can get), the meats on point. The tendon wasn't as thick and soft as expected, though- I probably won't add tendon next time. They served a good portion, too. (Con : I noticed the table next to me ordered a small pho, and there's a pretty big difference between the small and large) * Egg Rolls : The egg rolls were fried to a nice crisp and were stuffed full. The visual wasn't great, so I bit into it with little anticipation, but it was nice and juicy! They have many more options on the menu and a variety of different flavored smoothies to choose from as well. Okay, so I've tried lots of Vietnamese places in the Triangle, in hopes of finding my favorite and so far, this is my favorite place! HOWEVER, I haven't had the pho here so I don't know how well they do it!! I'm Vietnamese and this place hit the spot for me! They don't Americanize their dishes too much and they keep it simple. It really reminds me of simple Vietnamese cooking, like what my mom would make, which is what I miss more than anything. I ordered some spring rolls, egg rolls, and the bun thit nuong. Between the egg rolls and spring rolls, I definitely preferred the spring rolls. By the way, here they refer to summer rolls as spring rolls and spring rolls as egg rolls. So the egg rolls are actually "cha gio" and spring rolls are "goi cuon". The bun thit nuong was absolutely perfect, and they don't skimp on the fish sauce (nuoc mam) either. I will definitely be back to try the pho later! Also a plus is that it's right across the street from Grand Asia! read more

I am not very experienced with Vietnamese cuisine but I can say that the Vermicelli BBQ pork was delicious! The pork was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The whole dish went together well and I like how you can sauce it to your liking. I have high hopes for this Vietnamese restaurant. The service was excellent! It is a casual atmosphere but you are seated and waited upon. Even though we strolled in half an hour before closing we had no pressure to order or eat quickly. The staff was very friendly and attentive. A bill ticket is given during your meal and you go to the register to pay when you are finished. I also tried the Beef Lemon Grass Bahn Mi and though it was not to my liking, I have no past experience to compare it to. I think they made it correctly, it was just not what I thought it would be. UPDATED 8/22 After trying a few more items on the menu, I do not recommend their spring rolls. They only contain pork OR shrimp (most Vietnamese places will have both in their spring rolls), making the roll very plain and consisting mostly of lettuce which is disappointing. The peanut sauce was also disappointing, containing about 90% hoisin sauce and no ground peanuts. For some reason the broth during my last visit was pretty bland no matter what I added to it. ------------ People who have gone to Pho Vietnam with me usually complain that there aren't enough options on the menu. While I don't disagree with that, I think their food is worth coming back for. It's true, they don't have as many different cuts of beef or combinations for their pho (you can ask them to combine cuts though, just be very clear with what you're asking for) on the menu. However, their broth is one of the better ones I've tried in the triangle. I'm simple and usually just order a meatball pho so I don't need all the limitless options. Their Bun bo Hue is quite good as well with lots of different cuts of pork. I recommend eating it all in one sitting because the noodles will just break apart if kept till the next day. The Vietnamese iced coffee (with milk) is excellent. Very strong, just as it should be. I go to Pho Vietnam at least between once or twice a week both for lunch and dinner. The staff is really nice and remembers you when you go as often as I do. I normally get the Pho Ga, the chicken noodle soup. I found the broth here is the most flavorful out of all the other Vietnamese restaurants in the triangle. It is always served really hot with plenty of basil, lime and jalapeños. You get the option of getting the small or large. I alternate between the two, depending on how hungry I'm feeling. Both sizes come with a generous portion of noddles and chicken. I would recommend this to anyone that hasn't had an experience with Pho before. It is a great anytime soup. I've also tried the Lemongrass Bah mi. The bread is always fresh with a slightly crispy exterior and soft interior. The vegetables that come in it are always fresh and with great flavor. When I come to Pho Vietnam, I truly feel like I am back home in San Jose, CA. This is the first banh mi sandwich I have had after 2.5 years living in the triangle that does the dry shredded tofu. That is the only way veggie banh mi sandwiches are prepared in San Jose, so I was super excited to have finally found a place that does it this way! That itself puts this place at 5 stars. You can get an entire banh mi sandwich for less than $4 before tax?!?! Yes. We were looking for a place to replace Dalat, and I think we found a place that might be a little better. I also tried the lemongrass tofu noodles, vegetarian summer rolls, and the "regular" tofu banh mi sandwich. The regular tofu banh mi has a thin brick of seasoned tofu. I loved the lemon grass tofu noodles, they were nice and spicy and really filling. The spring rolls were great too, but I did not like the "house special sauce." And I also liked the regular tofu banh mi, its better for if you don't want something heavy, but are craving banh mi. I would return for all of these items. The star of the show both times I came here was by far the avocado smoothie. It sounds weird, but just try it. It tastes and feels like ice cream, but it only has avocado, milk, sugar and ice in it. It will change your life. Summary: The vietnamese food here is not like the vietnamese food you will find other places, but in my opinion it is the most authentic. It may not be bursting with flavor, but again, authenticity. I knocked off a star because while they have an entire vegetarian menu they don't have an actual vegetarian pho option :( they have bun, bahn mi, and some other cool stuff, but no noodle soup for us herbivores. Also the sandwich fillings were poorly distributed through the sandwich, but hopefully that was just attributed to the fact we came during the lunchtime rush. Ps. Honestly- this was a super simple and super enjoyable experience. Conveniently located and decent amount of seating indoor and out. When you walk in, you aren't impressed by any means. It's kinda dreary but you sit down anyway. You get handed plastic water cups and a menu. Menu has options but not that large a variety- which is fine! We ordered the cream cheese rolls for appetizer and two bowls of Pho- the reason we are actually there. One meatball and one eye steak. Food comes out quickly with a plate of bean sprouts, lime, jalapeños and some greenery. Add the sides to the Pho if you wish- I do. And now time to talk Pho.... yum! It was delicious! I really love the flavor of the pho here. Deep anise and beef undertones with all sorts of varied spicy notes. Delicious and cheap. Large fatty brisket beef pho bowls are only $9.50 and banh mi sandwiches are only $4. Fantastic! I went by this evening for takeout and they were not open. Chairs stacked on tables and lots of construction type equipment could be seen through the window. Calls went unanswered, but no machine. The restaurant equipment was still in there, so it doesn't look permanently closed, but maybe just shut down for the virus? No signage of any kind to let people know the deal. I gave this place ANOTHER chance to redeem themselves after screwing up my order entirely a few months back. My mistake. They screwed up my order YET AGAIN. When I had specifically requested that my dish be prepared with rice instead of vermicelli they prepared my dish with vermicelli -- completely ignoring my request. They also only added 2 of the 5 or so vegetables that are supposed to be in the dish and threw in some lettuce (in a hot dish, no less) randomly. I had a spattering of carrots, no cucumbers (and there were supposed to be cucumbers) and onions, and no beansprouts. I called the restaurant to inform them of their error and they were unwilling to do anything and told me that they don't deliver. What am I supposed to do -- place another order and pay again for them to make more mistakes?? It's pretty simple to read and follow instructions. Apparently this place can't do even that. The broth was very mildly flavored, not a rich deep flavor as I was hoping for, and quite more fatty than what I am used to. It definitely could have used some more acidic contente to balance out the fat content. They had no sweet basil, so that also did not help the flavor as Thai Basil is one of the main flavor profiles in pho. They did not bring out all the produce on the side, as it's customary. Most of the veggies were already in the bowl when it was served. We only got sprouts, lime and jalapeños on the side. There was a TON of onions in my soup, so I had to spend the first few minutes fishing most of them out of my broth. I didn't see much sanitizing between customers at the tables and overall the vibe of the staff wasn't super friendly. Nice little Vietnamese restaurant with traditional pho and other dishes. The place has ample heating in winter time, in fact, it was so warm that I decided not to order pho to avoid sweating when I recently visited in January.
