I was incredibly impressed by the quality of the Vietnamese food served here at Pho Vietnam. The whole restaurant felt very authentic. The decor was well thought out. Each table was stocked with napkins, sauces, and silverware. The menu prices were a little higher than the one pictured currently on Yelp, but nothing too unreasonable. My boyfriend and I decided to visit, because we were craving some good Vietnamese food, and this just happened to be the one with the highest reviews in the area. It was empty when we arrived, but that seemed normal for a weekday morning. We were greeted, seated, and given plastic cups of water right away. I decided to opt for my usual, bun thit nuong (vermicelli with bbq pork), and he decided to try the pho tai (beef pho with thinly sliced steak). We didn't wait long before our food came out. The veggies in my vermicelli were so fresh. The lettuce was crunchy, and the cucumbers and carrots were perfectly pickled. All the colors were so vibrant. The fish sauce was tasty, and the noodles were the right texture. I was quite surprised by the pho. I typically don't order it at Vietnamese restaurants in this state, because the broth is always bland, the noodle-to-broth ratio would be uneven, and the price would not match the quantity and quality. NOT THIS PLACE. Although the bowl seemed small, it was quite filling for him. The broth was quite flavorful, almost as good as home. That's very uncommon to find. They gave him a good amount of steak and noodles. He was very happy with his meal. Overall, this place might be the best Vietnamese restaurant in the state. I'll preface this by noting this was my first ever experience with pho. I got a large pho tái (eye round steak). It had a ton of noodles and a good amount of meat as well. The broth was pretty good but didn't blow me away. I threw in all of the jalapenos they gave me to add some heat but even then it wasn't too spicy. The beansprouts and limes added a lot to the flavor, and they give you plenty. I also got a BBQ pork spring roll which was awesome. It tasted very fresh & healthy and the vinaigrette that came with it was delicious. The service was great, my order was taken quickly and the food came out fast. I always had plenty of water. I enjoy coming to pho Vietnam for the noodle soups since this place is so much closer than the other pho restaurants in the Raleigh area. I would give it a four stars if only the quality is more consistent. At times, soups would be great. But other times, it would be very disappointing. I usually go for the pho, unless I want something a little spicy. In that case, bun no hue is my best option. The sandwiches and spring rolls are great as well if you are not into noodle soups. read more

Worst service. Only One server on staff. Server told us that he wants to quit and he hates working there. We waited so long at our table that we went in to order at the counter. Three Pho and three spring rolls three drinks. Waited almost 30 minutes for the food to arrive amongst a sea of dirty tables. Spring rolls were so hard and dried out that we didn't eat them. Drinks arrived once we finished with food. Food was ok.. it's been better on our previous trips. It seems as though this place is under new management, I was hopeful that some improvements would be made to the building. It's old and dirty and clearly the staff is unhappy. Staffing issues everywhere seem to be plaguing the customer experience. Not sure I'd return. The previous visits garnered good food , allowing one to overlook the state of the building. Whilist I feel for a singular server to handle the entire place, that's on the owner. Service and experience set the decision to frequent or return to a restaurant. Sadly, I'll be looking elsewhere, even if it means traveling. For 75$ for three people, I will definitely look for a new favorite. read more

My family came here hoping to find a solid place for Vietnamese food for when we don't feel like cooking it ourselves. I got vermicelli with bbq pork and an egg roll. The pork was good and it was refreshing dish I was hoping it would be. The only downer was that it didn't feel super authentic. The lack of pickled daikon made me a little sad, but it was still a solid bowl. My dad got the bun bo hue, which he said he liked. My mom got a dish that she said tasted more like Chinese stir fry than whatever she thought she was ordering. Overall a fairly good place. Not hype worthy, but good for a quick meal before hitting the Asian market. read more

The food was excellent but the service was poor. That said, I would go back again because the food was so good! I recommend the spring rolls for an appetizer. Really everything looked good! We got a seafood soup and a beef soup, both excellent! The tables are pretty close together in a very small venue so not a great place for a date night unless you enjoy hearing everyone else's conversations and they yours. We ordered a soda that we never got and everyone gets water with no ice. We never saw our server after our food was served so I got up and refilled my water myself. They have no decor, no ambiance. Maybe ordering your food to go would be best given the setting and service were not spectacular. In any event, it is worth checking out if you are craving great Vietnamese food. read more

Pho is a CLOSE second to my favorite food, sushi, and MAN does Pho Vietnam deliver. Every time I come here, I'm surprised at how good the pho is. It's definitely a different caliber of pho and slightly greasier than my usual pho-indulging location of Lime and Basil (cleaner), but taste is not compromised in the slightest. Yes it's in an awkward location and the exterior is run-down, but the taste of the pho is brilliant. I'm not that big of a fan of their fresh summer rolls nor their vermicelli, but definitely try the pho if you're in the area. I'm a little concerned about the 89 sanitation score that they have... but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt (I'm guessing they didn't really take sanitation as a priority since they are moving closer to Hillsborough Street in Raleigh?). It's a small Vietnamese spot that has really good food. I tend to get the tofu bún chay. It's a mix of spicy, slightly sweet, satly with a mix of lemon grass and other spices. I get it with the vermecilli noodles and it comes with julienne carrots, grilled onions, bib lettuce and grilled saucy tofu. It's light and filling at the same time. It's so tasty. read more

I stopped in here and picked up some goodies to go... yes, Pho to Go, among other things... a fried egg roll (cha gio?) and a Summer Roll (Goi Cuon?) and of course I couldn't leave without a BBQ Port Ban mi sandwich. My server Sandy had the kitchen prepare everything perfectly for taking it home, even keeping the Pho Broth in one container and the add-ins (including the Rare Beef in one, and the noodles in another) in other packaging. Pho Vietnam hit the spot for me. Vietnamese food is one of those things I constantly crave and we just don't have enough of it in the Triangle. Most of the other Vietnamese places I've been to are pretty far out in N. Raleigh or Taste in Morrisville which is not very convenient for me either. So I was happy when Pho Vietnam opened up. Though it's taken me way to long time to finally check this place out I was not disappointed on my visit. Being spoiled by tons of Vietnamese restaurants just a couple a miles away from my home in Charlotte I'm always looking for a place to frequent here in the Triangle. I ordered the Bun Thit Cha Gio (Vermicelli noodles with Pork and Eggroll) to go. The friendly hostess took my order and I was in and out in less then 10 minutes. I'll take that over a drive-thur any day. I came home to a nice portion of bbq pork noodles and all the fixins minus any hot sauce or hoisin sauce that is. Luckily I keep plenty of Siracha in my fridge. The egg roll was nice and crunchy and the pork was perfectly cooked and delicious. I ate every bit of my dish and for under $10 I thought it was a nice portion. This is a solid Vietnamese restaurant in the Cary area and the only one I know about in that area. I thought it was pretty authentic, the folks were friendly, and it seemed very clean. I look forward to dining in and digging into some Pho and Banh Mi on my next visit. Just tried out this place tonight, heard it opened yesterday! We had the pho with brisket and tendon and their bbq pork appetizer rolls. I usually judge a pho restaurant by their broth, and theirs was excellent! Tasty and beefy, with just a slight hint of spice to it. The bbq pork rolls had this crispy sweet pork in the middle that my 3 year old went nuts for. My only complaint is that the tendon wasn't cooked enough. It was slightly pink in some places. I like my tendon squishy and gelatinous! ;) This place did not disappoint, authentic food and reasonable prices. I would definitely eat from here again, i can't wait to try their bun and banh mi! I am super psyched that a new pho place is open in Cary! I hope more people try this place out and keep it in business. There's nothing like a steaming bowl of pho on a cold day! read more

More like 4.5 stars - service was fast despite almost a full house. The place is small and deceiving (passed it many, many times without realizing it was so close to home and so delicious). Their crispy spring rolls were homemade and very good and I got their pho which was also fresh and not overly seasoned. Don't be fooled by the outside! Ideally, it was to get a wide sampling of the menu...but really? I'm a glutton at heart. I love Vietnamese food. The food is good. This was my own perfect storm. Service is solid and attentive. Each time I went there, I was tended to quickly. When I ordered takeaway, the person taking my order offered me water and a place to sit while I waited. When I went to dine in, I was seated quickly. Each time, I saw several Vietnamese people eating there. Minority test: passed. On visit one, my first takeaway, I got an order of summer rolls and a pork sandwich. Summer rolls can be tricky. I've had them where the rice paper has been overmoistened. I've had them where the roll itself is over stuffed. I've had them where the roll is really just a container for rice vermicelli and a few shrimp. Pho Vietnam's summer rolls go heavier on the lettuce, with a little rice vermicelli in the wrap, giving them a cool, fresh taste. Over the course of my visits (hey...I had to order them each time. Consistency, you know?), the sauce ranged from having too much hoisin to a perfect blend of peanut and hoisin. The sandwich was a pleasant surprise: roast pork. The bread was tough and chewy, nice and crisp. The pork was well cooked and the vegetables were fresh. There was a sliver of jalapeno in the sandwich that added some nice heat. But while Vietnamese sandwiches taste good, they're really not why most people go out for Vietnamese... ...so I went back for a vermicelli dish...and more summer rolls, my second takeaway. Chicken and lemongrass delivered in both portion and taste. The takeaway container was huge. The chicken was cooked well. The sauce wasn't overwhelmed by either the lemongrass, the vegetables, or the chicken itself. Finally, I had the chance to sit in the dining room. I've never had good luck with takeaway pho. It's never ended well--always a huge mess. So when I decided to go back for pho, I wanted to try it in the dining room. As before, the service was fast. The tables had racks with sauces and spoons. The pho was exceptionally hot, so I put some leaves, sprouts, and sriracha in the bowl while I waited for it to cool. Even with the sriracha, the spice in the pho was pretty mellow. I can get my bun rieu and my hubby gets his pho tai and Banh Mi. You paid at the counter as you order at lunch. Dinner time, you can sit down and order. I've only driven by this place a million times, as it's right in my neighborhood. Finally decided to give it a go. I've heard so much hype about Pho I had to see what the fuss was about. For the rest of you, it's a soup. Yep, I know right? This spot was originally a fast food restaurant (fire), Maximillians (fire), then HotPoint (no idea why they moved), something else maybe, now Pho Vietnam. I walked in and it was plain. Like, we're in Vietnam plain. No worries, the food will speak for itself. I asked the waittress for advice. What do you do best? She told me which Pho to get (they had 4-5 different cuts of beef available). I'm glad I got the big bowl because I would have been starving if I had gotten the small. The flavors were amazing, but I didn't find it all that filling. Maybe I'm just a piggy though. Next time, I'll get some kind of app to go with. read more

Happy to find a decent bowl of pho in Raleigh. Coming from Asheville, NC (from Southern California) - it was a welcome thing to have a real Vietnamese restaurant in town. The pho here is quite good. I would say a solid 7 if you go by Orange County, Little Saigon standards. Their vermicelli with beef and spring rolls is pretty good, maybe a 6. Ice coffee is quite good here. A bit stronger than other places in OC, but not bad. If you are craving Vietnamese food, this will do the trick. It won't be the most amazing Vietnamese you have had, but it's good, authentic and fresh. I have been here on an "off" day but most days it's on. read more

But they are losing another star because of the gross hygiene. First of all, their official sanitation rating is B of 89 points (which I wish I had found out prior to eating and paying the bill). Um, do you know the ginormous number of things you have to do wrong to get below an A? I've actually read the guidelines, and know that a place pretty much has to deliberately mess up to drop below an A rating. We eat here on almost a weekly basis now, usually getting take out, and the quality and quantity is very consistent! They have added more vegetarian selections to their menu which is fabulous. I finally branched out from the pho and ordered the spicy crab vermicelli soup today. It was incredible- so flavorful and although not at all spicy, I think it is my new favorite. I got the small chuck brisket pho with an avocado and durian smoothie for takeout. It cost about $15.80 in total and they were so nice! Their service was fast and awesome. They packaged everything so carefully. Make sure to use the sauce they give you. And if you like spice, ask for a tiny to-go sauce cup to put some red vinegar chili sauce in that are on the tables. The flavors blended to nicely and the smoothie tasted fresh and creamy! The durian smell was gone but the flavor remained and lemme tell you, I will go there again and again. read more

I've been in here a few times for lunch, and one of those was with my entire team of 9 people. We've always had great pho, spring rolls, bahn mi, and ice tea. I've generally been happy with the quality, speed and price of the place. Today I decided to order take out for the first time for lunch. I got the eye of round pho, my usual, and a Thai iced tea. This meal was almost there, just not quite. The iced tea had tapioca pearls but the straw wasn't big enough to suck them up. So, they just block the flow of tea altogether. Also, they didn't give me any limes and very minimal Thai basil for my soup. I know this sounds like a little thing, but these condiments are crucial to a good bowl of soup. I will say that they packed it perfectly though. The noodles and beef were packed separately from the broth, and the bean sprouts came in a little baggie. I'll go here again to eat in and I'm sure I'll order take out some time, but next time I'll make sure and ask them for the limes and basil. read more

We were waiting for this place to open because we love Vietnamese pho and were tired of driving to raleigh or having to wait to indulge when we travel to bigger cities. Well, welcome to cary, nc where we've now got excellent pho. The place is not fancy and definitely leaves something to be desired as far as atmosphere goes. But now we have a secret. One night I asked my hubby to get some to go on his way home from work and now we do that regularly. They have it down to a science. They pack everything separately, including all the condiments.
