I like this place but I wouldn't go here unless the other places I usually go to are closed. It's open 24 hours so that's a plus, but it's really dirty here and the customer service isn't very good. The pho itself is actually pretty good and they give you a good amount of meat too. So I've been to the other Pho Vinh Ky on Brookhurst which I would rather go to than this one...This one is located on the corner of Newland and Westminster in a small little plaza in front of the Stater Bros and Seafood Paradise. It's dirty inside though...walk in and basically just seat yourself and then they will bring you the menu. They have 50% off beef pho now. What I got: Small Pho Nam Chin Gau Gan Sach ($4.50): my usual! It tasted a little different than the other location. I didn't like it that much here though. They do give you a lot of the meat, but I guess I just didn't like the taste of the broth here. Service: Not much to it. They also charge you 50 cents for... When I came here, only their pho ga (chicken) had the 50% off. They charge for water, so I decided why not get the thai tea? I might as well since thai tea was only about $1.50 more than water. Wrong. I might as well have just gotten the water since that's what my thai tea tasted like. Water and sugar. It was very diluted. I liked my pho, but my boyfriend didn't. The soup for the chicken was sweeter than the usual #1's that I order. I'm not sure if their soup base is sweeter than other places in general or if it was because of the chicken. They give you a sweet sauce to dip the chicken in. The sauce would have been great for me if there wasn't ginger in it. (I hate ginger). There was A LOT of chicken. For some reason, our noodle wasn't the usual thin, round noodles. The chicken pho they gave us had the flat thin noodles. Not sure if they ran out... They have another Pho Vinh Ky 2 a few blocks away. I would rather go to that one than this one. The other place is much bigger + they have a bigger selection of 50% off pho. I didn't try any drinks this time. I just went for no drink at all. You get to choose where you sit, so stay away from the windows. Had an after midnight pho craving that my friend, bf, and I just had to give in to so this place was recommended by my friends that live in the area. Good choice, my friends, thats 1 star for being open till 3 am. It's a little hole in the wall pho place but the first thing that caught my eye was the 50% off Pho Ga (which was already cheap as it was at the regular price of $6.50) which already made me happy as that's my usual anyway! 2 stars. The portions were huge (considering it was only $3.25!) and the noodles they use are much thicker than other pho places. 3 stars. We got there at 1 am, put in our 3 orders of pho and 2 orders of pork chops and rice dishes. It came and we gluttonously devoured all our mealls by 1:30. Fact. And surprisingly, there were quite a bit of customers coming in and out of this place for being considerably late at night. There is my 4th star for speedy and prompt service to cater to our hungry bellies! Um OK...they just lost a star from my experience I had with them last night!!! Dinner was going great...we ordered 2 soups and 2 rice dishes. Wife and I were in the mood for some tea so we got a pot and 4 ice waters for us and the kids as well. Food was great, then I went to pay for the bill. Their steak is fresh along with the vegetables. Overall this place sufficed my cravings for pho. 1/2 off beef pho? - WINNING! Let me justify my 5 stars. I feel like a bowl of pho to the vietnamese culture is almost like hamburgers to Americans. If there is anyway I can get my pho'ing on for less than $4 for a big bowl... then I am definitely a winner. At first I was hesitant to order the promotional item because I was afraid it might be flavorless; but that wasn't the case at all. When my noodles had arrived, it had this rich aroma, not like your typical Beef Pho, but a different smell to it. The noodles were a bit thicker than your typical Pho rice noodles which I enjoyed quite a lot. In addition, they were not at all greedy with the chicken meat, filled with lots of flavor and meat just how I like it. My dad decided to come here after our little venture to the Hoi Cho Tet at Garden Grove Park. I ordered my usual Pho Tai Nam Gan (rare beef with well done flank and tendons) here. They gave me a lot of well done flank, some tendons, but none of the beef slices. What the hell? Noodles were cooked nicely, a lot of veggies, but the broth.. the broth!! 50% off Pho Ga... mmm yah! I've had the Pho Ga and had the Com Suon Nuong and Trung Chien (pork chop with fried egg and steamed rice) here. We usually hit up this joint after closing up on Sundays. Hole-in-the-wall, quick and does the job. It's been around since I was in Jr. High (yes a long time ago I know!) I personally like Pho Vie 2 on Brookhurst/Westminster better for 50% off Pho Ga but I think for me it's more of a taste and preference. Mi famlia likes Pho Vinh Ky better. The Ga broth at Vinh Ky isn't too sweet (I like mine a bit sweet) the noodles are the bigger pho noodles just like Vie2 (maybe not as big but pretty close to it). Their nuoc mam for dipping is quite flavorful with garlic and chili (that's always good). The Com Suon was pretty decent. Usually non-Pho dishes are kinda whack,but here, the suon was pretty good. Nicely marinated, a bit on the thin side. I got 2 fried eggs (score!) and pickled veggies were aight. Not bad for $5.95 and late night. I think they're open till 3AM on most nights. My family has eaten here during the day and they said the broth isn't as good as at night..?? So word of advice, eat here at night. :) Another tip would be to ask for Ga and/or Long on the side, it seems like a lot more is given to you when asked for it that way. We couldn't wait any longer for the massive mess that was mother's day at a dim sum place across the street, so we wandered to this small pho joint, obscured amongst so many others. It has my momma's name in it, so I think I will always remember it. I think the pro here is the price -- everything is pretty dirt cheap, even compared to other places in the area.
