We sat outdoors on a moderately cool evening, but the heaters kept us comfortable enough. We even had a view of the lake, although it was across a bustling RT 28. We started with a couple of IPAs and "Yes Chef" spritzes, accompanied by some wonderful focaccia ($14). The food arrived somewhat randomly, but we didn't mind since we were all sharing. One of our group, a vegetarian, started with a delicious and substantial Little Gem salad, followed quickly by the pimento croquettes. They were delicious, although a little confusing because there were two different versions: one filled with pimento chili sauce and the other with fried green tomatoes, a little frisée, and chili sauce. Both were very good, but I wasn't quite sure why they weren't all the same. The vegetarian in our party also ordered the charred stone fruit and generously shared it with the rest of us. Delicious. The hit of the evening was the wild boar ragout with gigante beans, tomatoes, leeks, and roasted focaccia toast. It was beautifully seasoned and wonderfully tender--perfect for dipping that delicious bread. My wife loved her pork belly over mac 'n' cheese. Last was my "Royal with Cheese" burger, made with Wagyu beef and a "perfect egg" on a brioche bun. Since I'm not a fan of runny eggs, I asked if the egg could be fried hard. Our waiter--who, by the way, was a foodie and an absolute delight--said he'd see what he could do. Well, while I respect a chef who sticks to a recipe he considers unique, I was a little unprepared for the compromise: a cup on the side containing a near-raw egg! He could have simply given me a fried egg on the side instead. Minus that quibble, the hamburger was very good, although I'm not convinced Wagyu beef adds much to a hamburger. We got the Margherita pizza, and it was SO good! I loved how crispy the crust was. When you picked up a slice, it didn't just flop over. It stayed nice and crispy. It had so much flavor, and I was seriously so happy with it. I also got the Help Wanted drink, and it was really good too. I think I found my new favorite pizza spot! If you're ever in the area, I definitely recommend stopping by. I'm already planning to go back so I can try more of their pizzas and appetizers!

During my most recent visit this week I noticed that much of the kitchen staff seemed to be different from the team I've seen over the past few years. The pizza was genuinely disappointing. The crust lacked flavor, the toppings were sparse and it felt like something that had been rushed out of the kitchen with little attention to detail. Even the presentation was careless, which was surprising because this restaurant used to take pride in what they served. It's frustrating to see a place that I used to recommend decline this much. I really hope the upper management takes a look at what's happening to the restaurant because the Old Town Tap I used to enjoy no longer seems to exist.

The bread and hummus on the table was a welcome addition, and was especially good for sopping up the wonderful sauce from each dish. - We got tempted by dessert and opted for the bread pudding with a side of homemade ice cream. Wow wow wow is all I can say! - Service was great...There were three people working the entire place so service was attentive, but not overbearing. It is worth the trip up Mt. Rose for a date night. It is located at the end of a strip mall shopping center with discrete signage and a funky Jameson "open" sign. The seating arrangement is unique and varied with wooden benches, hearth height tables, and bistro cafe tables. Surprisingly, the bistro table with offbeat folding chairs was surprisingly comfortable for my husband and I through 4-courses. Service was warm and welcoming. Like actually welcoming. Like we were sitting in their living room as an invited guest. The drink menu was presented in an oversized, laminated booklet whereas the food menu was printed out from the POS at the timestamp for when we sat--carbon copies with white and yellow paper. The whole experience so far felt like we had stumbled into a secret speakeasy. The cocktail list was very unique. I took a chance and ordered Abu Hassan Does The Amalfi which had Arak (anise taste) cut with gin to bring down the strength which mixed well with the mint and lemon. I do not usually like anise and didn't know what Arak was, so when I smelled it I figured I would be trading drinks with my husband. Opposite actually--it was a delicious cocktail and ended up ordering a second during the meal. The husband ordered Hugo Verde which was a thick cocktail, almost like a juice. He ordered Double L Negrini next, and it was amazing!! I had a sip and wished I had ordered it myself! A harmonious mix between a Negroni and martini. I would recommend starting with this cocktail if you are unsure. On to the food, we placed our order for four dishes at the top, and each on was delicious and timed out perfectly to allow us to appreciate each dish and enjoy our conversation. Each dish was perfect for my husband and I to share. Started with Pan Tomat which was grilled bread with a spicy tomato spread. Then, the Grilled Chorizo with Amora (French mustard) was served in a mini cast iron skillet. I'm not a fan of mustard, but the mini chorizo links paired perfectly with the French-style mustard. We then enjoyed our veggies with Britt's Panzanella. This salad was bright, fresh and had the most delicious tomatoes! Finally, we ended with Ribeye Cap from the Josper which was perfectly cooked--pink inside and charred on the outside. The meat was served already cut which was perfect for sharing and did not require a knife. As we completed each dish I told my husband that it was my favorite. Literally every dish was amazing. I would not have changed a single thing, but at the same time I am eager to taste the dishes that I didn't not get to try. I am looking forward to an excuse to do another date night up in Incline as soon as possible.

The mushrooms are an excellent compliment. The grilled steak was also cooked to perfection - medium rare. The flat iron steak is such a great cut of meat. The fries in duck fat were very good. For dessert, we had a chocolate masterpiece. The meal was well priced considering the location and the time of year. And while the meal was special, it was the service that really made the experience special. While being utterly professional, the staff is also friendly and on top of it. I regret I didn't ask the hostess her name, but she was excellent - filled our water glasses without being asked once, and asked if we would like clean utensils after our appetizers. Unfortunately, this was some of the worst coffee I've had in a long time. It was extremely watered down and almost completely tasteless. I actually ordered whole milk just to give it some flavor, which is something I normally never do. They also don't have an espresso machine, so switching to an Americano or another espresso drink wasn't an option. For a brunch restaurant, the coffee was surprisingly disappointing. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. It was good, but nothing that would make me order it again instead of trying something different if we return. One thing I did appreciate was how easily they accommodated one of our friends who is vegetarian. There was no fuss or confusion, and they made it simple for her to find something that worked. One real standout, though, was our waitress. She was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and had a great sense of when to check on the table without constantly interrupting our conversation. She seemed to appear exactly when we needed something and otherwise let us enjoy brunch with our friends. I really appreciated her style of service.
