We had a wonderful dinner here a few nights ago and I wanted to share our experience. The four of us started with drinks at the bar. The bartender did not disappoint. I let him know that I was in the mood for something tangy and he suggeted a fresh grapefruit martini. It was delicious! The night only got better from there. We ordered the cesear salad and enjoyed some bread while waiting for our main courses. Our waiter's recommendations were spot on for all of us. We had the best experience thanks to Boubou! She was incredibly friendly, funny, and made us feel right at home. She recommended some fantastic appetizers, the wine Gavi, and what turned out to be the best tiramisu we've ever had. Boubou was attentive, helpful, and just a joy to be around. Piatti - pesto pasta and spaghetti - Italian Near Me - Laguna Beach, California

6 of us had dinner at Piatti last night in Laguna. We were terribly disappointed in all but our wonderful server and the cocktails. The pasta portions were insultingly small. The sliced italian meats for antipasto may have had at most 1/4 ounce of product. The chicken marsala had no marsala taste. They were out of several desserts and we dined at 5:30! The latte's were just warm and the coffee taste was average at best. Since so many things were subpar but quite expensive for the amount of product, we will try another restaurant. read more

The atmosphere and food are excellent!! Our waiter, Ricardo, was so friendly and very engaging. Definitely elevated our experience here. The Ceasar salad was one of the best I've had and I definitely recommend the Fritto Misto as an appetizer! Overall, one of the best in laguna beach! read more

to start we tried this restaurant three different times with friends...there reception and flavor of there dishes are horrible. They don't even taste the food before they bring it to the table. The ambience is nice. but when they bring your second course, they take your dirty utensils, and put it on the nice white tablecloth to reuse for your second course. very arrogant atmosphere. read more

My first time here at this restaurant and was super excited to spend my grandpas birthday here. We got sat on a Friday evening but got greeted by a busser for water. It took almost 25 minutes to get drinks started. I felt like our server was not knowledgeable and lack the attentiveness. As someone who works in the service industry, there is a lot of gaps in this new restaurant and not worth the price. I felt like our server never checked on us at all. Overall, would never come back here again. Food was decent but the italian bread was alright(wouldn't order again). Drinks took forever and were never coming out properly and missing components. Very sad service. Also, Every question I had asked the service they were not knowledgeable and other team members had no clue what was going on. read more

Piatti is a great new addition to Laguna Beach. Great and friendly service, the space is light and easy. Feels like home. The food is delicious. Love this place!!! My friend and I were walking by as we gazed into the patio and a very friendly gentleman by the name of Donny said hi would u like to look at a menu? We said sure and told him we would love to dine here. He said it was very nice on the patio and showed us his favorite table in front of a waterfall. He talked to us about the food and said a server would be right with us. A server by the name of Lino came over and said hello how are you? He asked if we would like to start off with a drink and we ordered a Sauvignon Blanc and a Prosecco. He brought us our drinks and asked if we were ready to order. I ordered the Margherita Pizza and my friend asked if he would choose the Eggplant Parmesan and he said yes that is delicious and one of our signature dishes. The atmoshere was very pleasant and decor was on point for a very nice Italian restaurant. Our dishes came out promptly and they were both delectable! Lino came back to check on us and we told him everything was wonderful. He was so attentive even though he was getting busy with guests. When we were finished with our meals Donny came by to check on us and we talked about how authentic tasting the food was. Everything tasted so fresh! We asked Donny if he owned the restaurant because honestly he acted as if it was his own establishment. His care and concern for his guests was very noticeable. He is a great General Manager and obviously cares for patrons and employees alike. Kudos to Lino and Donny for their wonderful service and to the Chef and Cooks of Piatti! Tried this relatively new Laguna Beach restaurant on Ocean Avenue and have high hopes. First, the room is gorgeous. The covered patio is really nice too and a good number of diners were split between the two about evenly. Good lookin adjacent bar w some action but truthfully didn't give it much notice. We had an excellent wait staff top to bottom and even the manager was attentive. The food served was all fresh and nicely prepared w generous portions. Tasty and delicious. Kudos to the Beef Carpaccio and the Fritto Misto - both some of the best I've ever had. They seem to be trying out several new dishes - withholding others while perfecting. Want to try their pizza sometime. Curiously, a lack of seafood mains...? Had an excellent Cappuccino and Pistachio Gelato to finish. Three appetizers, three entrees, bottle of Italian red wine, excellent ginger drink plus the finishes and tip - two hundred and fifty. This place is certainly central and should be good for tourists and locals, alike. Behave like a Roman - give it a try! read more

My wife and I really were really looking forward to Piatti, but our experience was just mediocre. We make it down to Laguna quite a bit and we are always looking to support the local restaurants. We shared a salad, pizza and pasta. Unfortunately, nothing was exceptional. Their $18 chopped salad was actually a big disappointment. Despite its description, it did not contain any cheese or salami and very few red peppers. It was mainly just romaine lettuce, endive and a vinaigrette dressing. The service was also marginal. Our servers would go long lengths of time without ever being seen. In additon to our wine, we also wanted water. Each time that we ran out, we had to ask for our glasses to be filled and were made to feel like it was a inconvenience. To top it off, when our bill had extra items on it. Luckily I caught the mistakes so they could correct them, but there was not even an apology. I hope that Piatti makes it in their new Laguna location, but it will be a while until I go back. read more

Tried the Laguna Beach location for the first time and it was far from perfect but has potential. The good: Waiter was attentive and really tried to accommodate. Food was pretty good but I think we just ordered the wrong thing. The not so good: When we first arrived at 8:15m they are already warning us on a Thursday night the kitchen will be closing soon. That's nuts. If you have confidence in your food and you have a bar in Laguna Beach, which they do---you have to at least stay open until 10. Look at Nick's---packed to 11:00 PM most of the time every night. I tried the wood roasted octopus and it seemed okay at the time but I paid the price when I got home. The Cioppino was about a 7, not nearly enough fish for what they charge but the broth was nice. Mainly a few shrimps and some clams and muscles so not the best choice unless they increase portion size. The best: The Arugula salad was a homerun--we got one and split it and it was plenty and tasty. The worst: My wife ordered a very tiny portion of plain pasta to just add to her Cioppino---they brought 1/2 of a small bowl and charged us $12 for it. So our out of pocket for the Cioppino with a little pasta was $50. Too much for what we got. That was a joke. It should have been an extra $5 tops for the pasta. read more
