I had not eaten at a Pick Up Stix in several years. I had not eaten at this one before. The food was just okay. I had the garlic chicken. It had sort of a one-note flavor and a TV dinner texture. My wife ordered the tofu but was given the house chicken instead. Much like the garlic chicken, it had a TV dinner quality and a whole lot of salt. I remember Pick Up Sticks as serving much fresher food. The pandemic probably has not helped. Some other reviewers complained about the price. Well, that complaint has some merit but every restaurant has raised their prices. I eat out a lot and I do not find their prices out of line with everyone else. We usually go to the Placentia location but we were passing Anaheim Hills. We ordered two house special chicken with noodles instead of rice (and paid an additional $4.50 ) and cream cheese wontons. The wontons were as usual but the house chicken and noodles were just inedible. We had it "to go" or I would have returned it. Next time I'm just going to panda express where I know the food I'm getting is less fresh, but just tastier. I feel like I'm the complete opposite of the others reviewers. They are all complaining of the service but for me, I didn't think the service was bad at all. First of all, I didn't know pick up stix was a place that only comes with one entree... I thought you could order a combo and have a variety of items... Next, you can't get rice and noodles without getting hit with an extra surcharge. I recall if I wanted my broccoli beef with rice and chow mein, it would cost me roughly 14 bucks. Wtf... At panda it would only cost me like 7.50. Not to mention the beef and broccoli was not tasty. It was runny with too much sauce, and they had too much broccoli and not enough beef. In addition the fortune cookie was extremely bland. I felt like I was eating a piece of cardboard... I love Pick Up Stix, but this location just isn't very good. A while back, I didn't get my free entree when I placed a to go order (reward points) so she promised to credit it back when the manager returned. This never happened. I clearly got over it and moved on, but tonight my husband found a sharp metal (possibly from a cleaning brush?) object in his fried rice. Ummm thankfully he had lunch today so he didn't shovel his fried rice as quickly tonight because had he not, it could have caused a lot of harm. Look, during this pandemic, all restaurants are challenged to give a reasonable standard of service, so I hate to give a less than a favorable review but I think it important that the owner/management take notice of there lack of service. I typically eat at PUS once a week and have done so for over 20 years, so I would consider myself a regular. Again, during the pandemic, I don't expect the same service but on more than one occasion over the last couple of months, when I told the counter person that I will be eating outside (they have outside seating) and after 25-30 minutes I finally go back in to check and see that my order was just sitting on the counter the whole time is disappointing. The food is cold. Maybe consider adding another staff member or two to help. All restaurants are struggling for customers. Don't let poor service drive them away... read more
