BLUF: Dive bar that is party-central during O's games but worthwhile on non-game days too. Pickles Pub is famous for being a green building just outside of Camden Yards. On game day the crowds pack into Pickles Pub and spill out on to Washington Blvd that essentially transforms into a block party. I recently visited the is quintessential Baltimore bar on a non-game day and really enjoyed it. While I was anticipating greasy bar food and various pickled options, the food was much better. In honor of pickles, I started with a shot of pickle juice and tequila. From there it was on to burgers and fries topped with crab dip. I've got to say, it was tasty! Definitely worth the calories. Service was friendly although inconsistently attentive. There isn't parking for Pickles so this is the type of place where you park in a garage, lot of on the street (if you get lucky) and then walk a few blocks. Overall, a great time. read more

I came to Baltimore for the crab cakes, but fell in love with the Fried Pickle Bacon Lettuce and Tomato (F.P.B.L.T) at Pickles Pub. Holy crap that was a nice mix of a great BLT and fried pickle spears. This was one great sandwich. I was with a group for lunch and we also ordered the Honey Old Bay wings. The flavor of these was good, but it was definitely more honey than old bay. I had a similar flavor before and they were better at the other place. Service was OK with the waitress barely stopping buy for drink refills and taking our order. It wasn't overly busy either. It wasn't terrible, but there was a lack of service for sure. TL;DR: Pickles Pub to O's fans is what The Bullpen is to Nationals fans. As an MD resident and lifelong Baltimore Orioles fan, nothing comes remotely close to the feeling I get when I go to Pickles Pub on an O's gameday! Yesterday was opening day, and as tradition, I usually go to Pickles before entering the ballpark because the vibes are great and the pub is right next door to one of the gates. On non-game days or before a Ravens game, it's easier to find a table or bar seating and order food. The chicken tenders, crab dip fries, crabby patty (crab dip burger), and wings are great! Whether it's drinking a few Miller Lites or Orange Crushes before first pitch or taking a Jägerbomb, Pickles Pub is the ideal place to let loose before an O's game. I've also been before a Ravens game, and it's usually quieter because the bar is farther from M&T Bank Stadium and tailgating is common (and there are other bars closer to the stadium, such as Purple Patio at Mother's Grille or Gameday Firehouse). But again, if you want food and a less crowded place to go before a Ravens game, Pickles isn't a bad spot. Just be warned that, depending on who the Ravens play, you may see a lot of fans from the opposing team, as there's a hotel nearby, and some fandoms, like the Bills, travel well to away games. read more

It is a well known fact that Pickle's is an Os Mecca. The drinks and atmosphere is always perfect. Last night the staff there proved why. Those young men helped me, a complete stranger, in a way that few of my own family would. My phone was stolen with all of my cards, id and hotel room key. The staff immediately went into investigation mode, reviewing security cameras, helped me contact my wife and eventually we found the phone and all of my stuff! They took the time and stayed with me until they knew I was ok. Really I can't thank them enough. This positive review is the least I can do. A popular and fun pub. Drinks are pricy and beer selection is limited. The orange crushes are great and I tried a King James one along with a Crabby Patty and Beer Battered Pickle Spears which were great. Service was fast and friendly. My visit to Pickles unconventional, but definitely memorable! My son and I were in town for a Ravens game and needed somewhere to grab lunch before catching the light rail back to BWI. I didn't want chain food and Pickles was a quick walk from our hotel and the Babe Ruth statue my son wanted to see. Even though it's a pub, it was definitely family friendly during the day and my son and I experienced prompt and friendly service. We tried the F.P.B.L.T. (fried pickle was perfection) and honey Old Bay wings w/ plenty of ranch. I also had one last Natty Boh, and they had some other good drink specials. The dining room was clean and there were plenty of seating options and games on TV. One fun thing was WBAL was in house filming fan reactions to the game and we ended up on the news. I was very disappointed with my experience at Pickles Pub. After being seated, I waited approximately 7 minutes without receiving any service. During that time, multiple customers around me were greeted and served, while both bartenders looked in my direction several times but never acknowledged me, offered water, or provided a menu. It wasn't until another customer spoke up on my behalf that a bartender finally came over, handed me a water and a menu, and immediately walked away without introducing themselves or checking if I needed anything else. Every guest should feel welcomed and valued when they enter a restaurant. Unfortunately, I felt overlooked and ignored. I hope management addresses this issue and reminds staff of the importance of acknowledging all customers in a timely and courteous manner. read more

Service was polite and fine. Crabby Patty 3/5, did I order this based on its cute name? Yes. What there even a hint of crab in this? No. This is a double patty cheeseburger, which, to be clear, I love. That said; the white sauce where the crab is supposed to be with Old Bay seasoning frequently fell out of the burger and at most tasted vaguely fishy. Pickles was the go-to spot for graduate students at UMB, however, they got rid of their UMB student discount and happy hour specials which is a complete bummer! I came here with co-workers on a non-game day. A mediocre Bloody Mary was $9.75. A cup of sparkling wine was $6. The service was okay. The bartender was really nice, but we had to either order from ToastTab (using the QR code) or go up to the bar and order. Beer Battered Pickle Spears ($11.99): tasted really good. They came with a ranch dipping sauce too. It was the perfect harmony of the acidic pickles and the crunchy batter. Crab Pretzel ($14.99): the crab pretzel came out in a "P" form, which I thought was unique. The pretzel itself was nice and crispy. It was lightly dusted with old bay, had crab dib and cheddar cheese. For only $15, I thought it was good. Spicy Hot Cheese Balls ($12.99): was not a huge fan of the pepper jack cheese balls. The texture was really mealy and the flavor was so mild, considering they used pepper jack. It does come with ranch ad potato chips, but I won't be ordering these again, The ambiance was pretty chill for a non-game day. Great spot right by M&T Bank stadium/camden yards. When I was there it was right after a Ravens game and the crowd was loud and packed watching other games on the TVs, which is usually a good sign that it's "the place" to go in the area for food/drinks. My girlfriend ordered a quesadilla. She noticed on the menu there were only two options, vegan and plain cheese but they were able to accommodate her by making a chicken quesadilla which she really appreciated. She thought it was good, about what you'd expect at a sports bar. I didn't get food, but I did get a huge 32oz grapefruit crush. All of the crushes are fresh squeezed and for the price of $16.75 I had to take it up. Could've had a bit more vodka but it still did the trick for me and was glad I got it. This is a great bar in the area to watch sports or just eat/drink for very reasonable prices. Would definitely go again when I'm in Baltimore again, and I'd try some food too. read more

This is a place I would definitely want to visit before or after an O's game. The atmosphere reminds me a bit of Irish pubs I've enjoyed visiting elsewhere. The beer list is pretty good, and it's well prepared standard pub fare. But the most enjoyable part was actually the service. What can I say? One of the greatest pubs in the greatest city in America! I will tell everyone and anyone - you truly have NOT seen an Oriole's game if you did not have a pre-game or watched the entire game at Pickles Pub. The energy of everyone getting together to cheer on the O's is INFECTIOUS! On the busiest days, people are packed in the outdoor yard area almost like sardines in a can...but that doesn't stop me! Because then I know it's a good game ahead! Game day crushes are WELL WORTH their price. I will give you an advance notice they pack a punch! So either split one with a friend if you are a lightweight or you are done drinking for a little bit lol! I have add a few apps in the pub before - solid delicious pub food, no complaints.
