Spinach and Bacon Salad, Slice Cheese Pizza
    Danielle P.

I was looking for a quick lunch in The Grove. Pie Guy Pizza was a short wait time. For dine in l ordered at the bar. I had the spinach bacon salad which was interesting but good. The pizza was good. I have decided this would be a good place for my family to go for lunch or dinner when we are in the neighborhood. There is Wi-Fi so it provided space for me to do some work as well.

These pizzas are HUGE! I mean, the boxes barely fit in my fridge! My partner would consider himself a pepperoni pizza fanatic, and it's safe to say Pie Guy's pepperoni pizza earns his stamp of approval. I'm not a huge meat eater, so without consulting me first, my partner ordered the vegan pizza for me the first time we tried this spot for carryout. He didn't exactly piece it together that a vegan pizza would in fact not come with any cheese, but hey, mistakes happens and I forgave him! I will say that a pizza with no cheese is not for me, but I think this is a fabulous option if you're vegan or dairy-free. For our second time visiting, my partner and I split a pizza, half pepperoni for him and half hamburger for me. It was SO incredible, and we got a few meals out of it! I love that they also offer pizza by the slice if you can't commit to the whole, massive pizza :)

Pie Guy has some amazing NY style pizza! The best I have had in STL by far. It had a hipster vibe and a full bar. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I got two slices of cheese pizza and a side salad. I loved the pizza! It was cheesy and delicious. I also really enjoyed the side salad. It was simple but really delicious. It went along well with my pizza. Defintley stop by Pie Guy!

Pie Guy continues to have the absolute BEST pizza in the STL area! We love the simplicity of the menu, the friendliness of the staff, and the fun welcoming environment. Anytime we are on this side of the river, Pie Guy is top of mind for a great place to grab a bite to eat. I highly recommend the spot for excellent New York style pizza, a fun environment for adults and families alike, a great beer, selection, and reasonable prices.

Given this is St. Louis: 4 star pizza. If in Jersey this rating would be much lower, but c'mon, those pie box graphics and flying pizza slices on the wall are classic and can't help but put a smile on your face. The crust here is solid and the pies are huge! The sauce though is rather disgustingly gross on the pepperoni pie making it utterly inedible leaving me to dive into the Hawaiian style pizza as I put aside my pride and for the first time ever, bit into a pizza with bacon and pineapple. Alright , after the pepperoni pie, this one actually tasted alright, almost (dare I say) good. The garlic knots were a tad too large and needed more garlic and another 5 minutes in the oven for my liking. But this place has a fun vibe and the pies were ready right on time. I think you really need to experiment with the toppings and sauces here to find the right combination. Given some time, I know I'd find my go to pie here.

Stopped by this place while bar hopping and was pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere! It was busy and filled with all age ranges, from people in business casual, families with kids, college students, etc! They sell out their popular dishes pretty fast so we couldn't snag the garlic knots but we got Detroit style pizza and it was so yummy! It was perfect amount to split between 2 people. I love the inside decorations and would come again to try the New York style pizza and garlic knots!

Wow, this was our first time here. The pizza is big and filling. It was not as busy at late night which we like. There is a bar that serve drinks. There was also several game arcade and a pool table. It was a relaxing vibe. Bonus that they open late night. Also free lemonade or water.

Came here for late dinner on a Saturday. The space is neat! It's a good vibe with pizza and pinball games while you get some drinks with friends. We got the special pizza, as well as pepperoni. We wanted to try sausage but unfortunately they were out so we got the veggie instead. By far the pepperoni slices were the best! All pretty decent though. Best NY style pizza in St. Louis that I've had. Holiday drinks were subpar... a little too sweet / interesting flavor combos. But I plan to come back for that pepperoni pizza!

10/10 Definitely one of the best pizza places in STL. One slice is as big as the width of my hand. I usually get hot honey and ranch on the side which just enhances the flavors.

Picked up a pizza to go, good price for the size and overall would recommend. It was a very solid pizza but not my all time favorite. You can skip the garlic sauce- it's pretty much just butter.

One of the greatest slices of pizza I've ever had. Next time I probably won't get the side garlic sauce. But the pizza was perfect.

Literally so mad at myself for not coming here sooner! As an avid pizza enthusiast, I'm always willing to try new spots that has anything to do with it! I often sometimes change my eating plans, since I don't want an entire pizza to myself. As wonderful as it would be, it often goes bad by the time I get to eat all of the leftovers. This spot was perfect, as you can get it by the slice. I came in around 1pm and the lunch crowd was gone. I ordered a slice of pepperoni and a Diet Coke (the choice was hard- they all looked amazing!). The total was $7 for both- definitely a plus. I sat down and got out my laptop to work a bit. Within 5 minutes, my pizza was out and holy smokes it looked amazing. The crust was crispy and the cheese was flavorful. The pepperoni had an authentic taste, it was fantastic. The staff was awesome and friendly, and I'm so excited to come back and try more types. They also have a carry out window for late night slices. Sign me up!! Thanks so much for a great Thursday, Pie Guy!

I'm torn due to personal preference. I loved the crust, loved the meats, loved the consistency and the cheese was perfection but I was not a fan of the sauce. It had a vinegar flavor, I'm sure they hand make their sauce and maybe it just wasn't the right batch, but honestly I would not go back. I provide a four because maybe others would love the sauce, I was just not my thing. The owner was great, the joint was clean and the staff was friendly. Go try for yourself and tell me what you

There's a charming patio out front, if you want it. You can settle in for a long dinner, post up at the bar for the night, or grab a quick bite before heading out on the town. Bartenders are warm and approachable, and the in-house mixology is confident without any "we spent 30 hours perfecting this" pretense. The whole experience is like Sam Malone the bartender (save the drama) at Cheers: friendly, self-assured, the kind of place that makes you feel like you could spend all night there without anyone rushing you. We had a Paper Plane and an Old Fashioned -- the latter served over a custom ice cube stamped with a double ax (a nod to the wood fire). The cocktail list leans classic and reliable: if you know you like gin or vodka, you'll find something easy here. The espresso martini is the standout, it works as a dessert drink or any other time of the meal. We started with the Smorgasbord instead of our usual garlic knots (which are their own delicacy), and it didn't disappoint: toasted brioche with mascarpone and strawberry jam, several cured meats (capicola, prosciutto, pepperoni), parmesan, gouda, dried cherries, and chutney. My one nitpick; the pepperoni and gouda were tiny cubes, which makes them tough to grab cleanly compared to the sliced parmesan or rolled prosciutto. In this situation give the man a toothpick. The tallow-fried wings are, in my opinion, the best in St. Louis. The beef-tallow-and-potato-starch breading produces a tempura-like texture and crunch that keeps them light. Adventurous-but-classic sauces, bourbon butter BBQ, buffalo, and pineapple honey habanero (legitimately spicy; bring backup). The wings stand on their own without sauce. For pizza, we got the Napoli (tomato, fresh and smoked mozzarella, arugula, parmesan, black pepper, olive oil) -- her standing favorite. Expect proper Neapolitan: soft center, thin crust, charred crisp edge. Don't lift and bite fold it. (She insists: no fork. I use a fork - I know how dare I!) The pizza menu reads creative but never gimmicky; meat-lovers, vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-conscious diners all have real options. Before Kyle took over, Pizzeoli was known as a vegan-forward spot, and that flexibility lives on. We closed with the seasonal ice cream sandwich, fresh-pressed pizzelle wafers, crème brûlée ice cream, and a torched marshmallow cap. Excellent. A couple of practical notes: they're dinner-only (4-9:30) and the new reservation phone line is a robo call. Easier to use the online waitlist or book online directly. Pizzeoli is dressed-down-or-dressed-up friendly, kid-welcoming, and somehow works equally well for a pre-game stop or your dinner of the week. I've never had a bad dish here, and there are several I come back for specifically -- Lesley for the Napoli, me for the wings. 4.9 stars out of 5. If that toothpick shows up, a perfect 5. ;) Worth the trip across town, an hour drive for a long dinner, if it were open for lunch, the suggestion for two trips in one day would be welcomed or two-days in a row.

Parking is easy within a block or two. Outdoor, booth, and table seating is available. My husband had the gluten free pasta because it is also vegan, and no lie and true to form, it was delightful and light! The tomato sauce is Perfection: not too acidic, not too sweet, letting the grand yet humble tomato shine. I chose the puttanesca, one of my favorite traditional Italian pastas. I would order this again!! Had plenty for lunch the next day. Not to be left out: the toasted ravs and cannoli. I've had a few T-ravs since moving to StL, and these are excellent. The tomato sauce for dipping, once again, is a real treat. The cannolis? Precious, flaky, and dreamy. I ate one at our table and took the second bad boy home. FIRE.

While traveling through Missouri, my wife and I were looking for a place to have dinner. I searched…read moreYelp and came across Anthonino's. I also remembered seeing it featured on the Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, so we figured it had to be worth a try. When we arrived, we were asked if we had a reservation. We didn't, but noticed a few open seats at the bar and asked if we could sit there instead. The two bartenders welcomed us right away and told us they would take good care of us throughout the evening. My wife ordered an iced tea, and I started with an Old Fashioned. For an appetizer, we ordered the Toasted Ravioli ($14), which is handmade in-house and filled with ground beef, ricotta, and pecorino romano cheese, served with marinara sauce. It's one of the dishes featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. For dinner, my wife ordered the Chicken Marsala ($23), and I went with the Bolognese ($17), made with veal, pork, red wine gravy, cresta di gallo pasta, stracciatella, and Calabrian chili oil. The toasted ravioli arrived looking great. I tried one without the sauce first. The fresh pasta didn't fry up quite the way I expected. It was more flaky than crispy, and I was hoping for a little more crunch. The filling was decent but could have used a bit more seasoning and flavor. The marinara sauce also had a bitterness to it that wasn't my favorite. When our entrées arrived, both dishes looked and smelled wonderful. Unfortunately, the flavors didn't quite live up to the presentation. My wife's Chicken Marsala had good flavor overall, but the side pasta was very gummy, and the sauce again had a bitter note that seemed to overpower the dish. My Bolognese was the biggest disappointment of the evening. When I think of Bolognese or a rich meat ragù, I usually expect a wider pasta such as pappardelle. The cresta di gallo pasta wasn't my favorite choice for the dish, and it also had a gummy texture. The sauce itself suffered from the same bitterness that we noticed throughout the meal. Looking back, I probably should have ordered the Carbonara once I realized the Bolognese wasn't being served with the type of pasta I was hoping for. Overall, the meal was okay, but it didn't quite meet the expectations we had after seeing the restaurant featured on television and reading the reviews. The service was excellent, and the bartenders did a fantastic job taking care of us. While this visit was a bit disappointing, there were plenty of other dishes on the menu that looked great, and I would be willing to give Anthonino's another try and order something different.

I will say the toppings are generally covered by cheese and so if you don't know what was ordered you might wind up with a bite of something you don't like (as was the case for my heat-averse aunt who got a big mouthful of jalapeño on one of her slices). I called to place an order, the man that answered was very short, he said they were busy and wait would be an hour and and a half, I said that's fine. Continuing on, ordered the special minus mushroom. Wanted to ask if a different topping could be added but was cut off and my ordering was over. OK, NBD. Got to the place to get the pizza, my husband went in to grab it and the man at the counter was rude and short with him. Also the place was empty so maybe we called in the order during a dinner rush hense the 95 min wait, again NBD. An employee pulled the pizza out tossed in in the counter and walked away. Then a younger employee walked up to the counter and collected money. I'm hoping the older man was just having a bad day, but being rude in 2 different manners is not a good look. When we get home and started to enjoy this pie half way into eating a slice was a nice piece of rubber, kind of looking like a hair tie or something. Now that's a huge turn off. First experience and now the last. Sorry folks but bad attitude and a foreign object is at all not appealing.
