The service was friendly. The store was Inviting. I got two slices to give this place a try. The German Chocolate was a disappointment. I taste tested the crust alone and found it to be without flavor. It was a bit too strong on the coconut in the chocolate filling. I also tried the cherry crumble. The crumble top is really delicious but the bottom crust was not as wonderful and the cherry was a little too tart for my taste. I gave four stars because compared to some of the other pies I have tried at other pie places, it was worthy of 4 stars. We ordered mini pies - one Green Chili pork and one Italian beef. Although flavorable - I had to take it out of the pie shell to eat. The pie crust overwhelmed the pie. There was minimal filling but alot of crust. We also purchased a slice of pecan pie and apple. Both could have been better and really didn't have that upscale homemade taste that I think the establishment is going for. I would actually have given 2 stars because of the awful parking lot and getting in and out of the place, but that's not the fault of Piefection. I recently visited Piefection near my Aldi in Queen Creek. The staff was very friendly and informative. They have whole pies and slices for sale, even buy 1 slice and get another free. We used to get banana cream pie from Randy's Restaurant BUT NEVER AGAIN! Piefection is true to it name! Your banana pie was ridiculously delicious. The crust wasn't too thick or thin, the banana slices were ripe and not old and the fresh made real whipped cream was to die for btw people the whole pie was covered with whipped cream and NOT just the edges. As I was driving down Via Linda Road past the bowling alley today (June 17, 2021) I noticed a very colorful Piefection van parked in the parking lot. I immediately did a double-take and made a quick u-turn!!! I've been wishing and hoping for a homemade pie company to open near my home for years. Normally I have to drive a VERY long distance to pickup my favorite pie, the coconut cream pie with dark chocolate ganache at The Tavern on Camelback Road & 32nd Street in Phoenix. The Tavern pie is $65.00. So imagine my surprise that this same pie can be had at Piefection for a mere $17.00 (plus a $4.00 up charge to add chocolate ganache to the bottom of the crust). HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN! Let's do the math: Piefection: $21.00 The Tavern: $65.00 Savings: $44.00 Now I can easily indulge my coconut cream pie cravings for a fraction of the cost. We visited Saturday, August 13th. My Mother and I visited the new location off Dobson. They're not actually open yet, they have a "standup" at a neighboring business. We were looking forward to buying a delicious homemade pie from a local business The young lady working was so unfriendly and unwelcoming that we left. As my Mother was standing at the display case, the young lady asked her to move so she could put the pie away. I think she could have waited a minute or so while a customer viewed the pies. She didn't offer us one word about the pie or ask us if she could help us. Her only words the entire time we were there were "hi" and "excuse me" We usually get our pies at Pie Snob. read more

We picked up a Banana Cream pie from this place. For me, the pie was just ok, it was a fairly regular banana cream pie. The taste was too light for me...if you got a slice of banana in your bite it tasted like banana cream, if you didn't, it tasted like cream. For a $22 pie, I wasn't that impressed. But what really made me give Piefection two stars is the customer service. They don't answer the phone, they don't take orders, and there's no way to find out what pies they've made the day you want a pie. You have to go to the store and just pick something from what they've got. We didn't want banana cream pie, but it was one of the pretty basic flavors they had. We asked about the raspberry cream and were told they make that for the holidays and since those are over, probably won't make it anymore (but it's on the menu for one of their specialty pies available everyday). All of the interesting flavors on the menu either sell out (and Piefection doesn't use this info to make greater quantities), or they aren't made at all on the day you come. We didn't get much help in the way of how to get what we actually wanted from the person helping us either. After we left Piefection, we called another bakery/chocolatier in town. The owner answered (Piefection, note he answered his phone) and told us he was sold out of his lemon tarts for the day. We were bummed but it happens. 5 minutes later he called us back and said he had enough of the ingredients to make 4 or 5 tarts if we could wait a couple hours. We told him to make whatever he had the ingredients for and we'd buy them all. He said he didn't like to say no to customers b/c it's not good for business. This is a lesson Piefection needs to learn. Guess which bakery will get our regular business? read more

I was only in the store for about 8 minutes and just in those few minutes I felt extremely hot I can only imagine how it is for the employees working. These pies are the best! I left a review on the chicken pot pie that was 5/5 stars! The cherry pie is the best I've ever had. The ONLY complaint is that they don't label the smaller pies! So if you are buying a whole bunch of them for clients, or even to store in your freezer, there is no label on the container to remind you which pie is what. Definitely not the best pie in AZ as advertised. I bought two pies, an apple pie and a chicken pot pie. Both were absolutely mediocre. The apple pie lacked apples, and seemed to be filled with apple mush instead. At $20, I expected more than a pie I could find at Frys down the street (at less than half the price I might add). The chicken pot pie was literally more like soup. The watery gravy in this pie overwhelmed it and we literally had to serve it in bowls because it was so runny. The taste was decent to be fair, but the texture was horrible! This was also a $20 pie. This place does not deliver on its promises and better pies (much better) can be found cheaper and close by. They were extremely welcoming and generous enough to give us an exclusive tour of their shop. I will say that this pie shop is unlike any other I've seen before. The pie here is good, however the employees and customer service not so good. After going to the Mesa location for years, when they opened in scottsdale it was much more convenient. I have gone to the scottsdale location at least 6 times since it opened, today was my third bad exerience with staff communication and them not acknowleding it. I was sent home with a Frozen pie, nobody told me I would need to bake, no instructions how to bake, then when I called I was told the no sugar added pies are only made if you order 24 hours ahead. Moral of the story, how "freshly made every day" are their pies if they have them in the freezer? I won't be back again!! EDIT: I baked the pie as instructed by the manager and the crust is complete mush with a nice layer of water at the bottom. Going to try and save this pie and put it back in the oven.
