I was really disappointed with my experience at Pier 6 on Sunday night. We sat at the bar for quite a while, and the bartender with the dark hair repeatedly walked right past us without acknowledging us or asking if we needed anything. We understand that restaurants get busy, but a simple "I'll be right with you" would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, the lack of acknowledgment made us feel ignored, and the bartender's demeanor came across as unwelcoming and unpleasant. This place has soo much going for it, but it doesn't quite have it all figured out. We had a reservation for 7pm, didn't get seated until 7:25ish which is so fine. We got a great seat, it was a warm sunny summer day in Boston, all is well. The service here is soooo slow. It took 1.5 hours for us to get our food. Obviously this happens sometimes, places have their off day, but our friend had gone 2 nights prior with her friends from work and it took them 2 hours to get their food just 2 days before. It was particularly interesting because the night we went wasn't even thaaat busy. Like there were people there, but there were open tables and the bar area wasn't packed with people or anything. Took the ferry here for a snack and some great views of the city by the water. We started with the mezze plate to share, which had tasty fried pita with zaatar seasoning and dips. I had the clam and corn chowder, which was a bit pricey but a pretty filling portion. It tasted fresh and had a good amount of clams, bacon, potatoes and corn - not too thick or thin, but was lacking some depth in flavor. Service was generally good, I think the food runner was new and he brought over food 4x that was not ours. Server was great about thoughtfully splitting our bill. It took a while for our round of drinks to arrive, and then our server never came back to our table. After more than an hour waiting, and watching other patrons who were seated after us get their meals, we asked another server to check on ours and were told it would be another 5 minutes. We waited at least another 15 or so, and asked for the check for the drinks. No one apologized, and the entire staff just seemed indifferent. Everything about this place is amazing. First you have to take this little walk to get there and the views are amazing so it's already a Vibe getting to where you're going to eat. Was visiting Boston and was near this restaurant so thought I'd give it a try. Don't bother! Half the staff is completely clueless and has no idea what they're doing. Witnessed maybe a manager (she was dressed in a tie dye shirt and shorts) in an argument with a patron yelling at her, then after they left was loudly complaining about the patron with her staff. Saying she'd "put her to the ground" next time. I would have left before o got my food but there was nothing else close by. Pier 6 has a million-dollar view -- and about a five-dollar kitchen. Honestly, that skyline might be the only thing keeping the place afloat (literally and figuratively). We've been here a few times, mostly because the view tricks you into thinking, "This time will be better!" Spoiler: it never is. But like a toxic relationship with a great backdrop, we keep coming back. The restaurant was practically empty, yet somehow the staff still managed to act like they were juggling a Saturday night rush at the North End. Our server was the bright spot -- relatively attentive -- but when we asked the bartender herself for a refill, she gave us a look like we'd just asked her to rewrite the wine list. "I'll get your server," she said, and off she went... which was confusing, since, well, she's the bartender. Then came the cod -- and let's just say if fish were priced by the ounce, this one might've been worth about $6.50. The "roasted" cauliflower on the side was ice cold, so I guess technically it was a chill-grilled veggie medley. We tried to flag someone down for some oil & vinegar, but the staff seemed to be deep in a group therapy session at the bar, chatting about their personal lives while making direct eye contact with us... and still doing absolutely nothing. In the end, we laughed about it -- because if you don't laugh, you'll cry over your cold cauliflower. Pier 6, you've still got the view, but the rest is floundering. We'll probably come back, though... for the sunset, the Boston Skyline, and the eternal hope that one day both the cauliflower and the service will be warm. read more

My friend and I went to Pier 6 to view the Tall Ships. We had purchased advanced tickets for the first floor. Since I have trouble standing for a long time, the manager was helpful in finding us a small table and chairs. However, my friend and I decided if they could accommodate us, we would spend a considerable amount of money to have a table on the top floor on the outside. Management did make this happen and they charged us the full amount for that top experience. we enjoyed watching the tall ships for three hours. The staff were great and the food plentiful. We had a wonderful time that day. When asked about the, now double charge, the manager suggested I call her on Monday to see if I could get money back from our original tickets. That seemed reasonable because they were so busy the day of the tall ships. Sadly, I have called almost daily since that time. Although I speak with very nice staff, the manager has never called me back and I have received no word about whether or not I could have been reimbursed for our original tickets. The day of the tall ship sale was wonderful, the repeated lack of response has have left my friend, and I disappointed and questioning whether we would return to this restaurant. read more

I booked a reservation for Saturday July 11th for lunch to see the tall ships. I booked it over a month in advance, as I have family coming into town for the event. I got a call 5 days before saying they now require a $150/minimum per person. I have a 7 year old with me. I'm like, so I have to pay $150 for a plate of fries for my 7 year old? She said yes. Went with a friend who lives near it and a perfect place to meet with friends. The location is right on the water and the view of Boston is great during the day and even better at night. They have a menu with great choices. I had a big cup of the clam and corn chowder which was a great start. They have a choice of cold or hot lobster rolls, and I chose hot. It was delicious. This was my 4th time here, so obviously I absolutely love this place!! It's my to-go place whenever I have guests over visiting me in Boston. First off I love their views of Harbor on all windows! Secondly, they are always able to accommodate my dietary restrictions. They have lots of seafood on the menu including starters! I love their grilled salmon, and I often order their cheeseburger minus the meat patty and instead get a grilled salmon added. In the past, I've added fried fish to the burger as well. Though this combo is not on the menu but they accommodate it and adjust the price in it. My son is a picky eater, but he absolutely loves their creamy mashed potato, so I always get it on a side! But they have a nice kids menu too and have small salmon on kids menu too! They can make great non-alcoholic mocktails too, so you will never feel left out when you're there with friends who drink! read more

She went out of her way to make sure our food was cooked the way we had asked. The views from Pier 6 has a gorgeous view of the Boston skyline looking across the harbor. Lots of seafood options as you'd expect at a dockside restaurant, with some vegetarian and meat proteins on offer as well. We shared a seafood fra diavolo linguini and broccolini side, and a lobster roll on a healthily-sized platter of salad and sweet potato fries. Our server was great - quick service, very accommodating. And if you're nervous about the Charlestown parking situation, don't be. 90s brunch- so fun! It was a cold and rainy day so we didn't get the full experience of the outside. We got to sit on the side covered area past the bar which was nice. Our server was wonderful. He was helpful answering questions and very approving of our choices which was cute. The espresso martinis and day trippers were delicious! The food was also incredible. A Hidden Gem with Incredible Views and Even Better Service! My boyfriend and I stopped by Pier 6 on a quiet Tuesday afternoon, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our week. The waterfront view is absolutely stunning--truly one of the best spots in Boston to relax and take in the harbor. The food and drinks were excellent--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly portioned. What really stood out, though, was the service. Lee, the manager, went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome and taken care of. You can tell they really care about the guest experience. And Jimmy, our bartender, was a total pro--friendly, fast, and made some of the best cocktails we've had in the city. We'll definitely be coming back soon. Beautiful location, wonderful service, and delicious food, oh my! What else could you ask for? Hostess was nice and offered us either a high or low table. Opting for a high table we got seated in the corner overlooking the gorgeous view of the water and city sky line. There's a full bar and lots of cocktails available to pick from varying in really sweet to slightly salty. We tried their Royale Spritz, Watermelon Frosé, Fizz what it is, and cucumber martini. Our favorite was definitely the frose which is perfect for the warm weather approaching. We shared an order of steamed mussels with fluffy and soft focaccia bread. These were the biggest mussels I've ever seen before and they were great! I loved that there was enough bread to soak up all the sauce. The Pier 6 burger was juicy and salty with fresh butter lettuce, tomato slice and red onions. I do wish there was more than the small dollop of thousand island dressing however. Fries were perfect pairing. I requested for the seafood fra diavlo to be spicy and they kindly obliged. I got even more of the plump mussels with two fresh shrimps on top. The sirloin was hugee and heavily salted and peppered. It doesn't come with any sides but given how large it is I don't think you need one. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. They even had outdoor seating and en extra bar on the pier so you can get an even better view. I would love to come back here and recommend others to check them out! read more

I dined here on a Saturday evening and had a good experience. I sat in the outdoor roof section, which is first come first served seating style. There is no covering for shade but the two tables nearest the door get a little bit of shade from the building. The views of the water are so lovely from here. I got the frozen watermelon drink and it was delicious. For good I got the goat cheese salad and the fried calamari. I really enjoyed the salad and the calamari was so good. I didn't love the fried peppers they combined with the calamari serving. I also tried the fish tacos and those were very tasty. This was a great dinner overall. Reservation app is not good. Many diners were upset because there weren't seats available. We had explicitly requested inside and noted we had a toddler and the host did not show any of that ...and we would have to wait 40-60 minutes for an I side table for 4. We noticed 2 tables for 2 opened and asked if we could do that. They agreed. Stressful. Then 2 kind ladies said they would have their after dinner drinks at the bar and we could use their table to put together for table of 4. Pier 6 recently changed to a "service dogs only" policy after allowing dogs on the outdoor patio for the past few summers. Instead of publicizing this change or posting signs so that people would know not to bring pets anymore, the staff is openly harassing people with dogs. This harassment includes having multiple staff members interrogate dog owners about the nature of their disability and other prying questions. This is an ADA complaint waiting to happen, and a deeply unpleasant and upsetting experience for myself and several other neighbors who have spent years bringing our dogs to this patio (some of which are actually service dogs!) read more

Let's start with the waitstaff - I felt like I walked into the halls of a judgy high school. They were all young and very stand-offish. I felt myself trying to be overly nice so that THEY would like ME, instead of the other way around. It was uncomfortable from the hostess stand to my waitress. The food and drinks were also disappointing. It was the worst painkiller I have ever had, and the tuna Tartar was tasteless. The only saving grace was that the fried calamari was actually really good. So why come here? The view. The view really is stunning and it's a cool spot in the navy yard.
