Don't Do it Folks!!!!! This place smells terrible!!! It was dirty. Food was terrible. The worst was the service!!! Upon arrival and during service, our server never smiled. I asked the server for some ice water and she pointed to my melted cup of water. So, I guess I got that point...gotta drink the warm water before you get a fresh cup. Two of us had to actually get up and go ask for condiments and extra silverware even after we asked the server for them. The hostess said she only had 3 wrapped silverware left. Our server added 18% gratuity on the check because there were six of us, so her terrible service was rewarded. Gratuity is supposed to be added because serving six people is busy work. My party of 4 was seated at 10pm and seated at 10:20pm. By 10:40pm we still did not have our apperizers. We canceled our order at 10:44pm, only to have employees talking about "wasting food." An employee followed us out accusing us of not paying for our margaritas.The bartender verified that we did in fact pay for our drinks when we first arrived. Our server Sal was very slow, didnt bring all our waters, was not friendly. I would not recommend this place based on service. Unfortunately, our food never came out, so I have no opinion on that. Hurricane Harvey made us cancel our wedding (which was to be at Rockport beach) so we had a small private ceremony on the beach and then came here for a late lunch/early dinner on a Wednesday and the staff were awesome! The food is pretty standard fare for the coastal bend area: heavy on the fried seafood but it's pretty good. Don't miss the onion rings and calamari! This review is 5 stars for the staff though. We, admittedly, were pretty demanding with regard to moving tables to get out of the sun and keep our group of about 14 together and they bent over backwards to make us happy and it was appreciated! No restaurant is perfect all of the time but we like this place - it's perfect for what it is: a casual bar/restaurant on the water that offers a great view and a decent meal with a great staff. Wish we had opted for Blackbeard's even though we've never been. The only bright spot was the bartender who seemed to enjoy his job. After being seated outside when we requested inside, an obviously grumpy hostess seated us inside where we thought it would be air-conditioned. We found inside does not equal air conditioning. Ordered fried mushrooms (frozen and too salty), gumbo (blahhh), then made the mistake of ordering the fried shrimp platter. After watching the lady at the next table eat her boiled shrimp, I REALLY wished I had ordered that even before I got my plate. Then I really WISHED I had. Blah fried shrimp, frozen French fries, vinegar based coleslaw (don't remember ever not liking coleslaw... this was a first) and blah hush puppies. Boyfriend got the fish and shrimp platter but added the snow crab. It was the only good thing at lunch. All the waitresses seemed tired and irritated. Add the fact the men's room restroom was out of order and the line for one restroom was always long, it was a terrible $70 lunch. I don't recommend this place. This is by far the worst restaurant in Corpus Christi, being not only an insult to paying customers but also an eyesore inconveniently located next to the magnificent USS Lexington. My family visited this location in June of 2015 as we were hungry and wanted to eat something before taking a tour of the Lexington. Unfortunately, what began as a simple order for beverages quagmired into a 50+ minute wait for the drinks. Furthermore, we were conveniently told it would be a 2 hour wait for food after we placed our orders. Overall, Pier 99 is like the beaches of Corpus Christi; an overrated tourist trap that reeks of garbage. read more

From a past positive experience dining here, during a recent Corpus trip we decided to revisit Pier 99 for lunch. Upon arriving there was a wait for a table, but we decided to wait it out since we were assured it'd be 15-20 minutes despite there being at least 5 other parties waiting for a table. We were seated within 15 minutes and got a nice table on the patio. It is worth noting all tables here are outside but the sea breeze keeps you nice and cool through the meal. Our waiter came out fast and was friendly and immediately got drink and appetizer orders in. We ordered the seafood queso and my son, who normally dislikes seafood said it was great and happily ate it. For our mains, we ordered a burger and fried red snapper and both came out fast and were delicious. The snapper was huge, it would be a great dish to share. The burger was also well received by my son. The prices were also quite cheap for seafood on the ocean and was an excellent value for what we got. This is a great place to stop by if you're after a great place near the aquarium with good quality and priced food. I'll be coming back next time I'm in Corpus without a doubt. read more

Waited much longer than we were told we would have to and then got seated in the "inside" dining area that is hotter than the outside area. Waited another 10 plus minutes until our server showed up. Took forever to get our food and the food was horrible. Waitress actually told us not to order certain things on the menu bc they are not good. Welp, if you like sitting with a drink and not eating or getting refills for 50 minutes, this is the place for you. We walked up to the waiting desk at the door and waited for around 10 - 15 minutes for a host to come seat us. After we finally got someone, we were seated directly in front of the live music speakers. The people performing live were good and fun to watch. After we were seated, the host asked what we wanted to drink. When he came back with our drink, we told him what we wanted to order. 50 minutes later, we decide to walk out while leaving $4 on the table for our drinks. Everyone around us was also waiting with nothing on their table. Maybe we came at a bad time, but keep in mind no one ever came to our table again to reassure us. Would never recommend. read more

We went here for lunch while we were staying on the Lexington. Most seating is open air but it wasn't too bad. It's all shaded or covered and the ocean breeze helps too. The wait for food was a little bit long but it was a bit busy and ended up being worth the wait. My mom ordered the oysters and said they were delicious. My dad said the blackens shrimp was really good. My husband got the black bean burger (he can't have fish/seafood) and said it was ok. I went there yesterday, Aug 24 2019 for my birthday. This is my go to spot for seafood when I'm in town and I can't even tell you how amazing the food was, in addition a beautiful view outside. I ordered, the U peel shrimp, Snapper with crawfish sauce & the catch of the day was Mahi Mahi , so I got that in a sandwich! The snapper was so delicious and the sauce and rice complimented it so well, shrimp was really fresh & they were pretty big too! My Mahi Mahi sandwich was beyond amazing. I just want to let you know that it was THE BEST BLACKENED MAHI IVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE! No exaggeration. Cooked to perfection & well seasoned! After walking around the beautiful Texas state aquarium (which you should absolutely visit, and maybe eat at), this place was a disappointment even for just a quick burger and fries. The total time me and my girlfriend spent sitting down at this restaurant was over an hour, for 2 burgers and onion rings. Service was terrible, they had 10 waiters and it took 10 minutes to get drinks (a Diet Coke and a water). No check ins, constantly looking around at the 9 other waiters to see if our food might actually come out, debated getting up and either looking around or leaving to go somewhere else. The onion rings eventually arrived first (after about 35 minutes), the portion was small and they were alright, nothing impressive. If they had come faster I probably would've liked them more. Then after another 30 agonizing hungry minutes our dry, tasteless burgers arrived. It took another 25 minutes to just get the check! This was a completely agonizing experience, and should be avoided if you're looking for an on the water lunch experience. read more

Service has taken a substantial downfall from previous visits. Obviously during warm weather, and even with COVID, wait times were at least an hour depending on the party size. That's not the issue though. The issue is the restaurant clearly overworking a skeleton crew nearly to death. Our server was constantly running around to an astronomical number of tables. Drinks took forever to arrive, food took forever to arrive. Calamari was well seasoned but chewy which is a good indication of it being previously frozen. Server forgot the salad for my colleague's steak dinner. She said the steak was tough, and my other colleague's flounder meal was too salty according to him. I ordered the whole fried snapper which was decent. It's a good meal for the price of $16.99. My side of new potatoes however was laughably small with just 2 on the plate...really? The food quality just isn't there from what I remembered on previous visits and it's a shame as the location is one of, if not the best, to not only get a view of the USS Lexington but to eat a meal. But alas, I will stick with Blackbeard's in the future read more
