Decided to try out Pikes Kitchen, it was on a friday around 4 in the afternoon. The kitchen wasn't pack you have about two/three kios you can order from, and a variety of selections to choose. I got some onigiri which was ok.... the rice was loose once I bit in to it, the rice ball crumble and fell every where, Same with sushi, picked it up with my chop sticks and the rice completely fell apart. I wanted a dry noodle with cold, refreshing sauce, and their soba filled up my hunger. buckwheat noodle was of good texture and the plating was very well done. definitely did not seem like a cheap dish from a random food court. My workplace is a 5-6 minute drive and I had run out the door without making my lunch. Was so happy to find this place! I love that they have Korean, Japanese, and Vietnamese vendors in the food hall. There are a lot of excellent choice from small snacks and side dishes as well as large entrees. They also had some Latino foods like pupusas and soup. There's also a bakery as part of the bubble tea place where they have cakes, cookies, macaroons and other fun treats. I was super impressed at the wide variety, friendliness of the staff, and how clean it was. This type of food hall is more my style as opposed to some of the larger ones. I will definitely be back to try more food and drinks! Pike's kitchen is a pretty nice food court to be at - they got varying options from Korean to Japanese to Vietnamese to stir fry to ice cream/boba. I've been here several times and so far have gotten food from monster tea and japomen. The ice cream from monster tea is pretty good - I'd recommend getting some after a meal. It's good that you have so many options in one place, since you can get x and your friends can get y, and everyone would be happy. Seating might be hard to get, since this place gets quite packed. Prices are reasonable (to a certain extent), and very ambient environment. Can get pretty loud though, but a great place to hang out with friends. Y'all I really messed up with my first review. I've been here a few more times now and I definitely judged this place too quickly based off of one mediocre entree. The other dishes that I tried, notably the udon, bibimbap, jjampong, gimbap, ddeokbokki, And shaved ice/pastries were the BOMB DOT COM. I am still craving the udon and shaved ice and wish this place wasn't so far away from me so I could come more often just for those two things. I took my parents here for lunch as well and they wanted to come back for dinner to try other items (ps my parents are picky eaters!!) The korean Street food really tasted like the street food I had in korean a few years back and it was decently priced (albeit still a tad bit expensive for my taste) but overall this place is possibly the only place where you can get food served to you like this and I am obsessed!! The Japanese food in this Korean owned joint is just awful!! The latest yubu invention has rice that is barely cooked. Not edible. When this was brought up to the Spanish worker at the counter, his response was 'tell him' while pointing to a Korean gent in the kitchen. Poor service in addition to the bad food.... I have been here a couple times, this time we ordered namda korean rice cake pot at K street stall. I believe this is a new item on the menu. The pot came out pretty big with rice cake, fish cake sheet, 2 fried dumplings and 2 glass noodle fried in seaweed, 1 boil egg. Luckily, it doens't taste super spicy compared to other korean restaurants I have been at, but the rice cake is a little hard, the glass noodle roll is huge and could barely bite off from. The price for the pot is $11 and $1 for additional cheese. There is also a side of clear soup on the side to help cool you down from the spiciness i believe. Overall, It is a good meal for the price but I rather try this as different Korean restaurant with side dishes (yellow radishes). Pike Kitchen is a popular Asian food court on the Pike and after stopping by today, I totally understand why! We were craving some Asian food and stopped by for dinner on 9/2/21. My partner ordered a chicken sandwich and I had a bulgogi bibimbop bowl. The chicken sandwich was very crispy and had a refreshing slaw, we enjoyed it a lot. The bibimbop had white rice, shredded carrots, daikon radish, zucchini, mushroom, and shredded kale, bulgogi beef, and a fried egg. The bowl was very delicious and it was a large serving! We did have two qualms: the food was more on the pricey side and the bibimbop did not come in a hot stone pot, so the rice wasn't crispy at the bottom. My mom just called this my home away from home -- it kinda is! Mmm, ooh, the matcha mochi doughnut is amazing! Like nothing else I've ever had, so glad I finally tried it. That's from Pike Bakery -- and they make a really great Thai tea, too, and also have great, fresh ice creams. The ice cream could be a meal on a hot day! They also have a nice selection of drinks -- I mean, ready-made cold ones in cans and bottles and such ... in the fridge-like case by the door, that is. :-) Oh, I should also mention, I think, that they have very cute plush Monster key-rings for sale. I got one in blue, because the face (or visage, if you will) shows up best on that one, I think. The squash and onion tempura are both awesome. The one thing I didn't like as much was something that I think I thought was supposed to go all together so I mixed it but maybe what I thought was supposed to be poured over the noodles was meant to be had separately as a broth, so ... it's pretty good to ask and get directions if you're not sure, I think. That one I had gotten to go and realized later I ... didn't really know what I was doing, only after I had already done it. This is all over several visits, not all at once! Mmm, Burmese food .... I was so excited to try this place, but it was just so OK to me. This review is based on Monster Tea, Bowl Play, and PK Chicken and Beer. Monster tea was kind of really bad. I tried the taro milk tea with bubbles and my bubbles were hard and very old. I had to go back and ask for new bubbles which were a bit better, but still not anything good. The milk tea itself just tasted bland and had no real taro aroma to it. I just felt like I was drinking sweetened milk. It was $5 and some change for the smaller size, so overall pricy and not good. As for Bowl Play, my boyfriend and I originally wanted to try a poke bowl, but when we got up to order, my boyfriend could see black and brown spots on the salmon poke which was really strange and made us second guess the quality and freshness of the salmon. We ended up deciding on the classic bibimbap with spicy pork. I normally love spicy pork because of how flavorful it is, but this one was just very bland. The vegetables that came with it were also very bland and lacked flavor. It came with an egg that had been premade and was sitting there for I don't know how long. It could just be the batch of meat and sides that I got, but it was just so bland. For almost $11 a bowl, I expected something more. PK Chicken and Beer was really good. I got the basil chicken and it was crispy and flavorful. That definitely deserves 5 stars and I would come back again just for this chicken. The serving is pretty generous as well. Next time I want to try their kimchi fries! I could have had a bad experience because of the vendors and dishes I chose, so I might give this food hall another shot, but only if I'm with others who want to try it out. I do still want to try the kimchi fried rice from K street still, but if I come back I'm definitely not trying the first two places again. When the food arrived, I noticed someone walk by w/ tacos on their tray. We ordered chicken & fries from Pike Chicken & Beer, large #1 pho from Viet w/ 2 summer rolls. Everything was delicious. In hindsight I don't know if I would personally order pho as I'm partial to tacos. Finding good tacos is like finding a unicorn. I've seen a couple of places pop up like this and I've been very intrigued but weary of having no gluten free options available. I decided to come here with my friend to check it out. There's a good amount of options to choose from, depending on what kind of food you're in the mood for. They have everything from fried chicken to rice bowls to pho to sweets, etc. you place your order then get a buzzer to let you know when it's ready. There's a decent amount of seating in the middle too. I decided to get some pho and they told me that it was gluten free and that their fried pork belly was gluten free too. The pork belly was nice and crispy and meaty. The deep fried it so it had a nice crunch crust on it. The pho was pretty good! It's not the best pho broth that I've had but it was decent. There's also a bakery that makes different drinks and sells pastries. I got a dirty horchata to drink which was okay. They also sell "mochi donuts." They told me it's made from mochiko flour which is a sweet rice flour. It's technically gluten free but I wasn't brave enough to test it since I worked the next day. The people were very nice and happy to answer questions that I had. It's also nice when you have a group of picky eaters that don't eat the same thing since there's different kind of good to choose from. I'm not sure if they have free WiFi but if you subscribe to Xfinity or Spectrum you can jump onto those wifi hotspots. Monster Tea Pros: I am always looking out for boba places that offer Rose as an option. It is very rare for a place to get the right amount of rose flavoring and this place does it right. It is in the form of the matcha rose latte. I think the only unfortunate part is that I don't really taste the matcha in it because the rose is much more potent or I only taste the matcha as a subtle aftertaste. However, still delicious. I got boba with my drink. The only comment I have about that is that I think the boba needs to be cooked a little longer or warmed up a little more because it was a tiny bit hard to chew at the core but that may be due to the ice cooling it down. Con: Each drink cost about 4.25-4.75 before add-on and tax. Fairly pricey but I'd pay for it if it's good. Random tidbit: there's a bakery section right next to monster tea and it has various croissants baked with buttercream and fruits etc. There were also various types of mochi donuts. Highlights at this place are the Vietnamese bahn mi sandwiches, the chicken bites from Pike Chicken and Beer, ALL of the food from the Korean Street Food place, and the bubble tea. Pike Chicken and Beer was my favorite at first. Garlic soy and sesame chicken bites were so good! I always get them when I'm here. But my cousin tried some of the Korean street food. I figured if it wasn't a restaurant, I wouldn't want it. Oh my, was I wrong. Some of the best dishes I have had in a while. Everything I had there was absolutely amazing. Monster Tea's Peach Mango Fruit Tea was delicious. Definitely some of the best bubble tea in the area. The only things I didn't care for were the ramen and pho at the noodle place. I haven't tried the bakery or the rice bowl offerings either. Can't wait to try more stuff here. Just a note, if you're here when it's busy, be prepared to hear buzzers going off throughout dinner. I don't particularly like food courts, but I love food halls, which are simply glorified food courts. Is that silly? Yes, it is, but in my defense food halls do tend deliver a higher quality product. However, I'm not yet sure that is entirely true of Pike Kitchen. PK contains eight different eateries, including a bakery, and thus far I have only tried two of them. The first place I visited is PK Chicken and Beer. As advertised, don't show up unless you are in the mood for chicken and/or beer, or potentially some seasoned French fries, a recent addition to the menu. The chicken is served primarily in either popcorn or sandwich form, and you can choose one of four sauces: garlic soy, sweet sesame, spicy basil, or karaage. I was, of course, drawn to the spiciest option, the spicy basil, and was not disappointed. It more or less tasted like an elevated General Tso's Chicken, which isn't what I was expecting, but is a compliment. My top tip is to order the chicken cupbap. It's a slightly smaller portion than the chicken bites, but still plenty of chicken, rice, and surprisingly good pickled radish for the same exact price ($7.95). Don't be fooled by the dry rice sitting at the top of the bowl, as there is a bounty of sauce waiting for you at the bottom. On my second lunch trip to PK I decided to try Viet, which serves most of the staples you'd expect to find at a small Vietnamese restaurant. I had banh mi #2, also known as banh mi thit heo nuong or simply banh mi with BBQ grilled pork. The pork, vegetables, and pickled papaya were quite nice, but the sandwich suffered from a common bahn mi problem: dry, hard bread. Maybe it's needed for structural integrity, but it just isn't very appetizing to me. I would have rather had all of the ingredients on a platter with some rice. The sandwich came with a complementary tomato egg soup. This was the real disappointment. It tasted like they poured canned tomatoes into the broth and it wasn't nearly hot enough. Here's the biggest knock against PK. I have actually traversed it a couple other times and walked out with nothing because the prices are on the high end. Rockville doesn't exactly have a shortage of affordable Asian cuisine and I live in Northern Virginia where we arguably have a surplus of it. I'll pay the extra shekels for food I'm passionate about, but as solid as this food is it doesn't excite me. For now I'm straight down the middle with 3 stars with an open mind as I continue to work my way through the Hall. read more

I got into a yelling match with a worker at Monster Tea over my sugar level order. More on that later. 3 stars because I'll come for the delish grilled pork bahnmi (and that endearing side soup!) from the Viet place. And the sweet potato fries (with sprinkled sugar on top, HELLO) from Chicken&Beer. I'd probably never put sugar on my fries at home, but I'll treat myself if I go out to eat. You'll like the chicken if you like it drenched in sauce. And the ramen was somewhat bland with overcooked noodles. But I tried this during their soft opening so maybe it was a hit or miss. The poke bowl was okay--nothing memorable to write about. Back to Monster Tea. The older(-est) worker got mad when I went back with my unopened bbt to tell him the sugar level on my order was incorrect (probably just a miscommunication over the K-pop music, right?). Instead of correcting it and moving on, he started questioning my choice ('why would you even ask for that?') and asked sarcastic questions that I totally played into. He seemed pretty angry to say the least. Once the yelling started, I thought: 'WOW, I'm literally (the way Chris Traeger says, 'literally') fighting for my bubble tea. This is hardcore and embarrassing.' I think the worker realized the ridiculousness of it too (like are we REALLY going to fight over sugar levels and argue who's at fault?) and barked at another person to remake it. To the guy who remade my drink, props&thank you. It's sad, because I really wanted to try a mochi donut from the bakery area, but the same angry worker was at that cash register. So I didn't try. Will I let this pettiness/misunderstanding get in the way of future drinks from Monster Tea? Yes, because you can just go down the road for the same basic quality of boba without getting yelled at. It's so cool that we have a food hall in the area! There were so many options to pick from, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, and there's going to be a Korean Gyro place coming too. I ended up getting a couple of Banh mi's and then went and got spicy basil chicken. It was so good and very filling. I love the concept of Pike Kitchen, which is basically like a food court except the additional crowding and noise of the mall. Pike Kitchen offers a lot of different asian cuisine in one space, and a lot of it seems to be "street food" type foods. I haven't haven't had a food I've disliked from there, but in full disclosure I've only eaten the food from the Poke bowl stall, K Street stall, and the bakery. All places were pretty good! I especially like the food at the K Street food stall, just because I often tend to crave korean food. I like their Kimchi bibimbap with shrimp, the spicy tuna kimbap, and also their cheese tteokbokki! I will say that when I had the cheese tteokbokki the first time, the sauce to cheese ratio was a lot better than when I ordered it the second time. This is kind of crucial for me since I tend to choke on cheese if there's too much. Besides my near death experience, it's pretty enjoyable to eat I also highly recommend trying the bakery's mochi donuts! Whoever thought of that is/was a genius!! This places is a in between a 3 and 4. It's a hit or miss for the food. I've been here a few times and ordered a few different items. Parking: very few in front of pike kitchen, gets filled quick. There is garage parking which is free and parking where Iron Age is. Not too bad just slightly cramped parking spaces. Inside: it's smells great inside. When you first walk in you would see the poke bowl station ahead and the left had the bakery, monster tea, and a small ice cream station. There's also fried chicken&beer, vietnamese pho and Banh mi sandwiches, Japanese ramen, Korean street food, and Korean gyro. Each bender had few but enough options to choose from. Pike bakery: really good mochi donuts and croissant options. Also dessert options were fairly reasonable too. They also have corns dogs too. Monster tea: to me it's like any other bubble tea places out there, nothing special. Just a place to quench your thirst or just basic bubble tea. My only issue is that one of the drinks I got (don't exactly remember - something with espresso) they didn't use really milk but rather powdered milk - a no no for me. PK kitchen & beer: ordered here twice and I love their sesame chicken. It's always made to order and their fries were good too. Japomen: I feel like it's an inspired Japanese ramen. Wayyy to gingery and the soup was bland nothing special. It's not a ramen fix type of place. Although they do offer different options onigiri which is nice. Viet: the Banh mi isn't made authenticly. It's also more on the inspired side and it comes with a side of small soup. Their pho is not pho in my opinion, pho nam nam is better and has that pho taste. Kygyro: Korean gyro place I haven't tried but they do give out a good amount of food. K street food: I only got the spicy rice cakes here. Size small. Oh man I couldn't even finish their small feels like a large. Flavorful and good. Bowl play: ...now I'm not sure what is going on but a poke bowl is NOT supposed to be mixed and smooshed. It's just suppose to have rice/salad at the bottom and toppings of choice at the top. Dressing either inside or on the side. When I ordered the girl mixed my food entirely which the dressing. Which I specifically told her to put the dressing on the side. It was just a mess and not good. The bimbimbap stone bowl was good and flavorful. It's on the expensive side but it's not expensive as most Korean restaurants out there. Overall: it's a good place to hang with friends, family, or coworkers. They do have free water and water cups. Seating gets tight when it comes to peak times, which is normal. Everyone's taste buds it different so I do say to try the different foods they offer, or take the yelp reviewers advices, and stay away from some foods. read more

First time here cuz i have been hearing a lot about this place and want to check out the hype. They give you a beeper when you order, when you food is ready the beeper beeps and you pick you food(servez-vouz) Its rather sort of a food court area surrounded by different counters which sell diffirent type of food from vietnamese/ Japanese/thai/ fast food/ and many others. I find this place very convenient since it also has a small bubble tea and bakery corner which adds additional convenience.. The parking is very limited and the chance are you find a parking is hard , however there are stores nextdoor which has parking spots... I really like this place cyz the staff are very friendly and that's kinda hard now days... Over all its a nice place with lots spanish music and good vibs. read more

I've been to Pike Kitchen a handful of times now, so this review is long overdue! I love the concept of Asian food halls because there's really something for everyone. Pike Kitchen in particular has a lot to offer (the cuisine ranges from Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, etc.) and there's plenty of seating for larger groups. It's also a good place to go if you're trying to kill time while waiting for Iron Age... When it comes to the food, I really like the soy garlic popcorn chicken & cheese fries from Pike Chicken & Beer. Very fusion-y but you can't go wrong. I also recently tried the kimchi fried rice from the K Street vendor, which was delicious and just the right amount of spicy. I've had the poké bowl from Bowl Play, which was decent (I'm picky about poké though and Poki DC is still my fave). I haven't had the chance to try any noodle dishes from the other vendors, but that's definitely next on my list. I like getting dessert here afterwards too since there are so many options. I usually grab bubble tea from Monster Snow Tea, but there's also a bakery that sells a variety of pastries if you're looking for a sweet baked treat. Can't wait to come back. read more

I've eaten a lot of banh mi around DMV and this was the worst one I've ever had. The pate was barely there and the veggies were completely raw (not pickled). My husband also got a vermicelli noodle bowl and that was just ok. We also got spicy chicken sandwich and although the overall flavor is good, it's very small for the price. The spicy syrup they add is also a touch too sweet. But the fries were super good and overall, I think they know how to fry their stuff which isn't too common. So their rating is more like 3.5-4 stars. A few months ago I came to try other items and the bakery wasn't very good either. The mochi donut was hard and bland. This is a review for the entire Pike Kitchen, not for a specific vendor inside. The location of it is not all that great since it is on a busy part of 355 with a narrow strip of parking lot. There's a garage as well but sometimes I end up parking towards the end of the strip and would need to walk a bit. Not terrible, but not great either. Either way, this is similar to the "Spot" in Rockville or the "Block" in Annandale, VA, where they have multiple food vendors inside one cafeteria or hall. There's about 6-7 different vendors inside of Pike Kitchen. They all sell Asian dishes such as Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, etc. They also have a small bakery with drinks/icecream, which is great if you want dessert after the meals. The variety of the stores is good as you can get fried chicken, soup, sushi, rice dish, sandwich, etc. It seems like this place gets more crowded than other "food hall" type of places in the area. It feels cozy inside but it could also be because it's quite cramped in there. Even so, I think it seats fair amount of people at a given time. Of course if there's additional seating area, it would be better. It is nice to see Rockville area getting more of these types of places and adding more Asian food options. I went back few times after the first time visiting this place because I think the food there taste pretty good for decent price. But I cannot give 5 stars because the food is not amazing there, and perhaps it was not really meant to be that way as it is more like a fast food place for Asian dishes. Either way, I'd definitely recommend this place for a quick meal and if you don't want to travel to multiple places for a meal and dessert/drink/icecream- they're all in there. read more

I'll go against the crowd and be the outlier here. Yeah, we've seen a lot of these Asian cafeterias recently (the spot, the block). The novelty is wearing out, but I'm still a big fan of Pike Kitchen because I don't have to think too much before I make a commitment to go eat Asian food. What do I like here? The bibimbap. For $9 you can get a very, very generous bibimbap with great quality ingredients and a generous portion of beef. Compare that to the likes of bibibop, which is nowhere near as generous and authentic. It's a total steal and you can totally tell when you see the older Korean crowd that comes to eat here (yes, they stick out a lot in the young crowd). Besides the bibimbap, the bahn mi and spicy basil popcorn chicken are my next go-to dishes. The bahn mi is generously sized and tastes great. The spicy basil popcorn chicken has great flavor, but I understand the criticisms because it doesn't have the crisp like authentic Taiwanese popcorn chicken. In sum, Pike's Kitchen has been a great spot to visit. Recommend the bibimbap over all others. Parking is always tight at the front of the restaurant so go to the back through the left alley on the left side of the building to find additional spots. read more
