I'm a bit conflicted on the rating of this place because some dishes were absolutely delicious and others were severely lacking. The concept is great though, much like any of the other food court dining options. The variety of food was perfect for me and my group. I initially passed on the mochi donuts due to their exterior but went back recently with the recommendation of a friend. I will say the dough is absolutely spot on. Chewy and crunchy. The two flavors were ok but really the highlight was the batter/dough itself. I got an Oreo which was yummy and the matcha which was somewhat sugary and didn't taste much like matcha. I also got the pork banh mi which was delicious. The meat was well flavored and the bread was crunchy. The perfect combination for a great sandwich! I also shared some tteok bokki with a friend and this was watered down and really not good. It tasted like they poured ramen powder base into water and cooked it with rice cakes. Lo and behold they have everything I love under one roof!!! This is a nice food hall, I was so undecided, I kept changing my mind. I do have a list for future visits. They have bahn mi, pho, Korean fried chicken, sweet treats, etc. I settled on fried rice with chicken. Let me tell you that it was the best I ever had. My dish was so pretty for the gram. In addition, they have a drink shop called monster tea where they sell a variety of drinks ranging from milk tea to coffee. We got the espresso black milk tea w boba which came out fast. I've been to Pike Kitchen twice so far and got the mochi donuts and BBQ grilled pork vermicelli noodles (Bun Thit Nuong). It's a good food court with different options of Asian food (Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese). For the bun thit nuong, it was good with fresh ingredients. They give a big bowl of fish sauce (nuoc mam), way more than needed as it was a soup serving size of nuoc mam. I got the mochi donuts (almond and matcha). The food is just not good, very fatty meats, oily sauce and soups, no flavor or richness for it, just fatty and oily. This place seems to have changed hands or menu format since last there maybe three or four yrs ago, but didn't think was soo good then when I tried it with my younger kids and their friends though the prices were decent for taking a group of kids out. Last night was in area and went with family and everyone's meal was made with skimpy, low quality ingredients, and just blah. Udon noodle soup w shrimp tempura that was like ok frozen tempura, but the broth oily and flavorless and so hot at first it melted all the breading of the two tiny pieces it came with, tongatsu ramen w the fattiest "pork" looking item you ever want to see and what my son described as chewy noodles, a spider roll that was sorta mushy and my daughter choked down, and bimi bap (spelling, I know) that tasted decent enough but that honestly looked it was from the frozen food section at the grocery store with bits of steakum like beef and a sunny side egg thrown on top. I always enjoy going to a good food hall and having the opportunity to try a bunch of different types of food in one spot, and Pike Kitchen was a good place to do this. We ordered Gyūdon, Tuna Mayo Kimbap, and Dolsot Bulgogi Bibimbap. I really liked how you had the option to use a kiosk to order from almost all of the restaurants available. It really speed up and simplified the process! The Gyūdon was perfectly simple and delicious. The Tuna Mayo Kimbap was a little dry and probably could've used some more sesame oil, but it was still pretty good overall. I wanted the Dolsot Bulgogi Bibimbap to be the best-tasting option of them all, but unfortunately, my stone bowl was way too hot and ended up burning almost all of the rice on the sides and bottom of my bowl. As I did pay extra for the Dolsot option, I have to dock a star for the food being burnt. I also wish the Bulgogi bowl came with non-spicy sauce options so that those with spice aversions could also enjoy a sauce to mix in with their food. We stopped by Pike Kitchen recently for a weekend lunch. This is a nice big place offering ample seating but it can get hard to find an open table during busy times. Parking here can be a challenge too, even though there is parking behind the building too. Ordering is easy and there is a dedicated ordering station for dessert, Vietnamese food apart from the main ordering station for Japanese, Korean, and Chicken! We have tried the following dishes and liked every one of them! Beef Pho - large portion is filling and yummy! Spring Rolls Chicken Banh Mi sandwich - watch out for the heat! I stopped by this place on the recommendation of a friend. I've heard good things about Pike Kitchen and I love all these food halls that are starting to pop up. It's a great way to try a lot of different things in one space. The cashier that helped me was so friendly. He answered my questions, recommended popular dishes as well as his favorites, and helped me decide what I should order based on what I had a taste for that day. Generally when I try a new Asian place, I like to try their fried rice. For me that's a test. If they can get that right, that's a good sign. I had the combo fried rice with chicken, beef, and shrimp. As soon as I opened the top I could just smell all the yummy goodness. Even before I tasted this rice I just knew that it was going to be good because of how fragrant it was, and I was right. It was delicious. I liked the fresh green onions and the black sesame seeds on top. The next time I can be more adventurous with my food choice now that I know that their fried rice is solid. I think this might be a hidden gem. While The Block is noisy and very busy, Pike Kitchen is great because you can be there with friends and talk to each other. An update since my last visit! I went yesterday for dinner with a friend and Pike's Kitchen did a wonderful job following CDC guidelines with socially distancing, sanitizing and wearing masks. In door dining is currently unavailable but you can go in to place an order, do curb-side pick up, online ordering or delivery. I ordered the vermicelli with grilled pork with an egg on top but never received the complimentary soup it was supposed to come with at Viet. The food was delicious but I was again let down with my order. My friend ordered a classic pork, regular ramen at Japomen and it looked filling and delicious. I got via UberEats: Jolly Frappe Twilight with 1/2 lychee 5 onigiri variety pack: Spicy Tuna: this one was my favorite!!! Hawaiian Onigiri: I know pineapple is a very acidic fruit but I couldn't really taste the pineapple in it just the spam. I sent my daughter here to pick up 2 rice bowls at the Korean stand. The website said the dosirak bowls were $12 each. When she arrived, the menu board also said they were $12. Of course when paying, she didn't pay attention to the math and just paid for the order. While waiting, she decided to look at her receipt and saw that she was actually charged $15 and $16 for the bowls. She raised the discrepancy with the clerk but he dismissed her and told her that the prices had gone up. She asked me what to do and since I wasn't there, I told her to just bring home the food and we will write a review since it seems that Pike Kitchen had no intention to correct their error. I'm not against raising prices, but I think it is unacceptable to publicly post one price and charge another. At Harris Teeter, if you catch a price discrepancy, then you will get the item for free. I have even seen restaurants that tape up price changes since I understand that changing an entire menu board could be very expensive. I think the management at the Korean Stand in Pike Kitchen is irresponsible and dishonest and they have lost our trust and business. read more

Very good about COVID precautions, and even though dining in was an option, very few people were taking advantage of it. The set up for ordering online and picking up in the store was a little confusing at first but they were friendly and redirected me. For ordering in person, it was a little overwhelming--there are different counters that you can order from, and I couldn't quite figure out if I could just order and pay for everything at one counter. There are also some slight differences between the menu online and the posted menu--they do have a poke bowl and I was bummed I didn't realize until after I ordered. Getting the food that I ordered to go took a bit longer than I anticipated given how empty it was. I think this was most likely due to them receiving a large number of uber eats/grubhub/etc orders making it look like they weren't as busy as they actually were. My fries were AMAZING. The Burmese stall caught my eyes because there are not many Burmese restaurants around here. I went and checked out the menu and I saw the Ginger Salad- I had to get it. I got it to go but I didn't wait until I got home to have the first bite - glad I didn't wait. Next, what do I want to eat for my main meal? I decided on a Stone Pot. You can select up to 7 ingredients plus a meat. I got the "basic selection" since I couldn't decide. I love spicy so I got the Spicy pork and the spicy sauce. Great combination of heat. Next they place the stone pot on the stove so the rice will be nice and crispy - it definitely was. Delicious. I couldn't leave the place without getting a scoop of taro ice cream. I love taro ice cream so I just got it plain with no toppings. Yummy. Overall a great experience and looking forward to my next visit to try other items. Really enjoyed going here for the grand opening! So many options to choose from. I tried as many as I could handle! The tea place is good. I tried the pineapple lychee tea. And $5 for a large size which included pineapple chunks and lychee boba, it was a good price. My date got the sea salt caramel black tea and that was pretty good too. The chicken from the chicken and beer place was AMAZING. Got the sweet sesame chicken bites and I was so satisfied. Crispy and saucy and sweet. Definitely going back for more of that! I also tried to sushi and ramen from Japomen. The sushi was fresh but not very flavorful. Maybe they don't use very high quality ingredients. But the price was pretty low so I can't complain too much. The ramen was filling and tasty, but again not very high quality. I like the open sink and free water. With so many options, we ordered some food from the Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese menu. To finish it off, we got some drinks from Monster Tea. I ordered the spicy chicken dupbop, unfortunately the chicken was way overcooked. From the Japanese menu, we ordered some appetizers, takoyaki and okonomiyaki. Both of these items were delicious. I like the food court idea from Pike's kitchen that we can get different food from one place. The soup of tonkotsu ramen is good and it includes all elements supposed to be in it like red ginger, sour bamboo shoots etc. but the noodle is like instant noodle the flavor of the Spider roll is good though the sushi rise could be better. Banh mi my wife thinks the sour flavor from the radish slices could be stronger. The pork was a little bit blank. But I like the beef pho soup. My wife ordered the small size macha rose latte without adjustment at all. And she thinks it's good if you mix the two layers well as macha flavor swirls well with the rose flavor. Great place for a wide variety of Asian dishes, but I imagine your experience differs wildly depending on what you get. I tried the inari sushi from On Top and frankly was a bit disappointed by the taste. I do think it's pretty good value, as they were having a 3+1 deal and the inari sushi is decently large, with a lot of toppings. However, the toppings did not taste fresh at all - not that I would expect straight from the ocean from a casual food hall but even the spicy pork had a bit of a stale taste. Also, while it's good that they put a lot of mentaiko, it's incredibly salty and would be a lot better with more mayo to balance out the taste in my opinion. It doesn't seem like they use proper sushi rice either - the best thing about the sushi was the tofu skin itself. I also got a horchata with boba from Monster Tea and, while the drink itself tasted good, it was incredibly sweet even though I got 50% sugar and the boba tasted both overcooked and undercooked at the same time. However, I did go with some friends and they seemed pretty satisfied with what they got so I might have just made a bad order. read more

They had football playing on the TVs when I was there and I also noticed they have a happy hour at chicken and beer from 3-6 on weekdays. Last time I was here, I had a go-to Vietnamese stand that is unfortunately gone now so instead I went to the Japanese one instead. I ordered the chicken katsu (around $18) and really enjoyed it. It was crispy and there wasn't too much teriyaki sauce on the katsu, it was a perfect amount. It came with a side of rice and cabbage I believe. The only thing I did not enjoy was miso soup because it tasted way too salty. However, it was only $1.75 so I'm not too pressed on it. The sushi tempura roll was good, you get 8 pieces. My boyfriend ordered the sesame chicken and the fries, both of which were very crispy. And, you get a large portioning for a decent price (about $13) for chicken. I was back home in Rockville visiting in December and was excited to check out these Asian food courts that I kept hearing about. Sorry to say I was NOT impressed. I luckily got parking right up front, but the parking lot is too small. When we left, there were two cars just standing there, waiting for people to leave. I got a salmon poke bowl at Bowl Play. It may be the worst poke bowl I have ever had. I lived in Hawaii for 2 years so I have had a lot of poke, both authentic and not. I currently live in Missouri and the poke I get out in the midwest are still better than Bowl Play. I just do not understand how this place continues to exist. The salmon tasted subpar. The topping options were boring and few. Not a lot of sauce. There was little to no flavor. The price was expensive.
