My wife and I had a very good meal here recently. We were a little worried given some of the negative Yelp reviews, but were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. We both had steaks (prime rib and filet mignon), which were very tasty and cooked exactly as we ordered them (both the waitress and manager came by to confirm that they were cooked properly). The side dishes were also good, especially the mashed potatoes. This is definitely a good place for a steak when you're visiting Deep Creek Lake. And the service was very good too. read more

Our waiter Casey was great. Food is expensive and drinks are weak. Everything we ordered was good....average. We had spicy garlic wings, crab dip for our free appetizer and crab soup which is why we went. We ordered a crabby chicken and a crabcake sandwich to go. When we got home there was about 5 French fries in the crabby chicken box. We were offended by the hostess when we entered the restaurant and told to seat ourselves on the lower level and not even asked if we wanted to sit upstairs in the final dining area or downstairs in the bar area. After questioning our waiter about it we found out there was a large party upstairs that had gotten out of hand and they were in the process of being kicked out. read more

Visited for the first time Saturday afternoon following a disastrous visit to another local establishment. This is the bar area below the main restaurant. The service was excellent. Very attentive and friendly. My wife had the Crabby chicken sandwich (grilled chicken topped with crab dip). Definitely a knife and fork dish, unless you can handle the mess. I had the Chesapeake flatbread (basically a crab pizza). Delicious. Our visit rescued what was looking to be a poor outing in DCL. We will be back. Maybe try a dinner in the steakhouse next time. read more

It's really expensive here but the food is good. Not quite worth the price IMO but I'd still come again because there is one particular dish that wowed my friends and me: Legendary Creamy Crab Soup. I think it was called "Legendary". Not quite sure but it was impressive. There was no fillers (potatoes) in this soup and there was plenty of crab. Some of the chunks of crab took up a good portion of the spoon. I don't know how many crabs were cracked open to fill a bowl (don't bother with the cup. go for the bowl) but we enjoyed our bowls of soup immensely. Our main entrees were also quite good. I ordered the New York Strip and there was very little fat and cooked medium rare when I requested medium. Shrug. One of my friends ordered pasta which he said it wasn't bad at all but he'd much rather have one of the steaks. The service and ambiance here was really great too. If you are willing to burn a bit of cash, this place is an option. We were very pleasantly surprised to have found this place. read more

God Awful....really...the worst steak I have ever had. Terrific and enthusiastic server, which is a rarity in this area. Calamari were overcooked...and appeared and tasted as if pre-breaded and frozen. The accompanying sauces were quite good....sort of marinara...and a sort of asian. $42 bone in strip....cooked in a 1200 (or something like that according to the menu description) degree broiler....medium/medium rare.... came to the table not even 1" thick...not hot...barely tepid. 1200 degrees should yield a nice caramelized crusty exterior....the darn steak looked like it had been boiled...no caramelization. Somehow the kitchen managed to way overcook the steak without the previously discussed caramelization. $42 buys a terrific bone in steak at any of the top national chains that is 1.5 inches thick or thicker....with a lovely crust. Salad was a joke...seemed "pre-assembled" and put back in the cooler....thus the lettuce was becoming limp and loosing the crisp... Tomato was mealy and totally devoid of flavor....ummmm.....hello ??? don't store your damn tomato's in the cooler...store them at room temp. and plate them just before serving. My lovely dining partner had a combination surf and turf that was underwhelming at best...not properly cooked..everything overcooked...and the asparagus slathered in some oily substance that added not flavor whatsoever. Everything we had was something that would not challenge a 10 year old in the kitchen....everything we ordered was a simple preparation that simply required some minimal oversight. Just no excuse for even an inexperienced sous chef to mess this up so completely. Atmosphere is nice....decor is cool...service was friendly and efficient...but...the food just sucks...nothing was better than average....and what should have been the star of the table was literally inedible. read more

The atmosphere of this restaurant was great! You can sit downstairs, upstairs, or on the balcony... none of which is a bad choice. The service was great, we had Trinity as our server. He was very nice and knew the menu well. The steak was great, but for $30 I expected to get a salad and a side but you're only given one side total. I got cheesy crinkle cut fries as my side, theres nothing special about the fries at all. So all in all, this place is a bit pricey for what it is but is still a very nice place to dine while in Deep Creek. read more

This summer, we saw that their reviews on TripAdvisor were excellent so we thought we would give it a try. I'm so glad we did because it was excellent. Food and service was great. We've been here about a dozen times in the last 20 months. The consistency of the food is very high. Salmon is good but a bit plain. Chicken wing appetizer is very good. Homemade sauce and great flavor. Grilled chicken breast is juicy and well seasoned. Our kids always get the "oak barrel steak". Order it medium to actually get medium-well. Portions are actually normal sized. Don't expect chain restaurant portions. Prices are a bit high but our service has always been wonderful. read more

Great restaurant in Maryland near West Virginia.. It has a nice view up on the second floor. My daughter and I had the New York steak strip. The steak was cooked just to order. I ordered a cranberry margarita that was not watered down.. It had sugar on the outside of the glass instead of rock salt.. I really liked it. Incredible incredible incredible service. Food was a solid B+. Really great dishes and ideas, just lacked on flavor and spices for a true A+. It's like it's almost there but just not quite. The real challenge with this place is the price. It's at the Capital Grille level of pricing with the Rainforest Cafe atmosphere and feel. I get this is a tourist place, yet the audio doesn't match the video on this one. There's no way this is a 5 star restaurant that can demand those kind of prices. We took a large group there and were treated fantastic. Fake animals all around you for that lodge feel. Gift shop, random cheap water rock feature by the bathrooms makes you reminisce about the last Chinese buffet you visited. Probably won't be back here next time we are in town as there are plenty of other options who know what category they are in and execute well. read more

This was a lovely restaurant. We enjoyed our meal and the environment. However, I did not feel that safe in reference to COVID as several staff had masks but did not cover their noses. What a great restaurant! We went with a large group to celebrate our parent's anniversary and birthdays while staying at DCL for the week. Very cool setting inside that looks and feels like a lodge. (Apparently it looks great all done up for the holidays) Food was excellent; we got the crab dip and calamari as apps and both were excellent, the calamari especially. Pretty much everyone ordered steak (duh). I got the cowboy steak, and it was cooked to a perfect medium rare. My wife had the crab stuffed flounder, and it was very good as well! Fish was not over cooked and lots of crab meat. Mikayla, our server was fantastic! Also, it is a great restaurant for families. We had two young kids, including a rambunctious 2 year old that took to running laps around the restaurant despite our best efforts to keep her entertained with crayons. We were looking for somewhere to eat after hiking at Swallow Falls State Park, passing through on our way home to Baltimore/DC from a long road trip. Pine Lodge Steakhouse was an entirely reasonable choice. I had a very tasty prime rib, and she had a nice filet. The crab dip was tasty, as were the salads and sides. It was pricey for what we got - especially since all sides had to be purchased separately. On the other hand, choices for food appeared to be somewhat limited in the area, according to TripAdvisor and Yelp. In a more urban area with more choices, I probably would have been less happy to pay as much as we did for the (reasonable quality) food that we got; but it's not fair to grade a restaurant out of context. If you want nice food in this particular area, Pine Lodge is not a bad choice. read more

Great atmosphere, awesome food! Came here with my parents on a very snowy night and had a lovely time. I got a filet with mushrooms and it was perfectly cooked. My boyfriend's steak was a little undercooked but they took it back and heated it up no problem (he seriously has this issue at every single restaurant-maybe it's just him! Lol). There wasn't anyone downstairs to seat us so we went to the bar area. One of two waiters took our order and then came back to tell us several items were no longer available and some items were only available for certain times. Wanting to try a local beer, I ordered a draft only to hear they did not have it. A refill was requested but never received. The others ordered ice teas and they were gone by this point. The fish sandwich came as the fish dinner without/fries which was addressed by "the only difference is bread and cheese". What? Also one person ordered a hamburger with Swiss cheese and requested mayo and mustard. The hamburger came with American cheese and the mustard came 1/4 through the hamburger and the mayo 1/2 through. Although we specified two different couples, our bills were mixed up. My biggest complaint is that although I know staff are hard pressed these days, if you are charging these prices then you should receive similar food quality and service. read more

Entering this restaurant with a large group of 17, they were prepared. As the evening continued, it only go worse. Not to mention it was expensive ($8 for 6 add on shrimp) but we spent almost 3 hours here due to an error in checks. Some of us didn't even receive them, and some were completely wrong. Due to the nature of our event, we had somewhere else to be, and the extensive check issue was ridiculous. Do not recommend. we went for dinner Friday night at 9:30, we were sat by the hostess & after not being waited on for 15minutes & several servers looking at us through the window, we went inside and asked what was going on, & was rudely told "you can't just sit yourself you need to see the hostess!", we explained the hostess was the one who sat us there, & eventually they had someone come out. the food & our server was very nice, however we were rushed out by the manger, it was 20minutes until closing & the manager came out & looked at us & yelled "the last table is finally getting ready to leave". After questioning them since it said they closed at 10pm online the girl said "oh well I guess you can place a order" we said we would call back in a few minutes once we had everyone orders together, we called back about 3minutes later, & they shut the phones off. My husband and I were recommended by our Innkeeper at Carmel Cove where we are staying (also a gem spot). The Pine Lodge Steakhouse is less than a lovely 10 minute ride from Carmel Cove. We were so pleased with our evening. Upon arriving, we were greeted by a very personable host and chose to sit upstairs where some smooth jazz gently played. Our server Caitlyn was absolutely delightful. She was attentive and politely engaging and steered us well. Moreover, the food was fabulous. My husband enjoyed his baby back ribs (personal preference though lighter on the sauce) and I loved my Chicken Mildred dish. We were here in Deep Creek on vacation for 5 days, and tonight was our last night, so we came here looking for a nice dinner for 2 couples. The restaurant was in the same room as the saloon, which was a not quite what we were expecting, but we were told to sit wherever we liked as we were the only dinner table there at the time. Our waitress, Sierra, came over quickly to take our orders. We ordered drinks and an appetizer (crab dip) which was decent. When Sierra came to take our dinner orders, I asked for the strip steak and a crab cake. She asked "soup or salad to start?" which all 4 of us took to mean that it was included with dinner. I even said "oh wow, I did not know that was included!" To which she said NOTHING. And then with the crab cake, which 2 of us ordered, she asked "cocktail or tarter sauce?" AGAIN, no mention of any extra charges. So we got the tarter sauce. Dinner comes out, food is OK, steak is a bit overcooked but that happens and it was still edible. The stuffed flounder was exceptional. That is the only reason this review is 2 stars instead of 1. Then the check came, and not only did each of us get charged $7 for a very small cup of crab soup each, but the little cups of tartar sauce were $2 each!!! I have never been to a restaurant where there was an up-charge for tartar sauce, much less when the waitress seemingly intentionally did not mention it, or mislead us about whether or not an item was included or extra! We were also charged an extra $3.00 higher for the add-on crab cake above the listed price on the menu, to make things even worse. After all of this, Sierra had the audacity to give us a card requesting a review, so here it is! Very disappointed and would not return or recommend. read more

We came to Deep Creek Lake to celebrate our anniversary. As part of our lodging package, we were given a $25 gift card to Pine Lodge. We waited until our final night and decided to take out and eat in front of the fireplace. In retrospect, it may have been a bad choice despite the $25 credit. Upon calling the restaurant to place our order, which was ordered at approximately 2 PM, we ordered a baked potato but was told "that's a no go because it's before 4 PM". That began the long saga of the Pine Lodge dinner. In addition to French onion soup which did not have croutons and or cheese which was promised on the menu but included bay leaves at no extra charge, the spinach artichoke dip was approximately a quarter of a cup of dip along with stale multicolored chips and terribly over burnt pita chips. The Caesar salad was good but the crab soup for my Crabby Chicken sandwich was cold and the chicken breast was over cooked and dwarfed by the kaiser roll it was so small. Overall I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone unless you want to pay too much for not enough. read more

We come to DCL every summer and have eaten here before. This was a terrible dining experience. The only reason I give it two stars is because our waitress was very nice. The filet mignon was so undercooked it was almost raw in the center; we sent it back but still it was very undercooked and unappetizing. The French onion soup was tasteless and the bread pieces were burned. The baked potato was also overcooked. The ribs were so dry and overcooked too that they were nearly impossible to pull apart. This was our first time to Deep Creek Lake and we were starving after a long trip in a driving rain storm. At first glance, the atmosphere and decor seemed nice. I ordered a Cesar salad and Cowboy steak. The Cesar salad was terrible. The lettuce was soggy because it was caked in dressing. The steak was completely undercooked (and I typically like my meat rare.) However, I ordered the steak medium rare. The waitress was nice, but got frustrated as we kept asking for some basic things. We asked for parmesan cheese to go with out kids pasta, and three, separate times we were presented with a small ramekin instead of bringing a normal amount of parmesan for a kids pasta. Anyway, if you are looking for a steakhouse, this isn't the place. read more
