Mildred's Spring Chicken paired with mashed sweet potatoes. (Had the Mountainous Prime Rib Bites appetizer.)

We were new to the area and unfamiliar with the restaurant and didn't realize a reservation was needed for the fine dining area. The hostess was kind and informed us that the menu was the same and offered us seating in the bar room. We were met with a kind and patient waitress that explained the menu and offered recommendations, even though she was quite busy. The recommended appetizer was phenomenal and the entrées we chose were absolutely delicious. Ambience was friendly and cozy.

Nice place. Good food. Service was pretty smooth also. It was quiet, the food was good. I would go again when I'm in the area.

The service was quick and friendly. The sangria was very good, the shrimp and lump crab was absolutely delicious and the chowder was also excellent. The rest of the food we ordered was not worth the price.

Came after snow tubing with a group of friends on vacation and we all enjoyed our food. It wasn't busy at all and our waitress was attentive and helpful. Food came pretty quick and no one had any issues.

The food was not great for the price. I wouldn't say it was bad but I expected better. The service was pretty good. It was a little slow but we had a larger group so it wasn't abnormal. The restaurant was set in a lodge which I did like. I think I would go back because there were things I saw that looked great.

My take on the food is that it's good, not great. The drink menu is solid with a lot of wine choices and cocktails. I got the chicken parm and there was plenty of chicken. My family tried the crab cakes, chicken dish, soup, lobster tail... a lot of food! The salads were fresh! Ok, the negative happened when I received my potato. It was rotten inside. I mentioned to my waitress if she could do something about it and she says, yes, no problem and that she was sorry about it. We spent very close to $500 only to get $5 off because of the rotten potato. In my opinion, this is unacceptable for such an establishment. Make for an unforgettable experience and take care of your customers, especially those who are spending a lot of money at your restaurant. Maybe a desert on the house or a larger discount on the meal itself. I'm not sure I'd come back.

I've spent a bunch of time in the area in the other seasons but seeing it spring was new for me. So was lunch at Firewater. I enjoyed both. As you might think from the name, Firewater is all about the drinks. Not only do they look beautiful but they punch above their weight in a tourist mecca. My Baby Got Daq was so much better than one would imagine for a cocktail on tap. Served in a coupe, this traditional daiquiri was made with anjeo rum, which gave it a gorgeous brown color. The simple (traditional with a twist -- pineapple!) recipe (lime and sugar) allowed all the ingredients to sing and you would be hard-pressed to tell that it came from a tap, rather than a bartender's careful hand. Drink in hand, the food menu acquitted itself just as nicely. My large (Southern) party made short work of the deviled egg appetizer. Likewise, my brisket sandwich (on gluten-free bread and served with a side of grits) was filling, smoky (with a crunchy bark) and deeply-flavorful.My group took advantage of the nice weather and are outside, enjoying the lovely water views and pleasant service. With a population the size of a New England liberal arts college, odds are if you're patronizing Firewater you're not a local. That's fine. Tourist cities need tourist dollars. Spend yours here. While in Deep Creek, this will become a trusted lunch destination. I'm just surprised I 'discovered' it so late after multiple trips.
