Food was edible, but this place is hardly what it purports to be. I saw no evidence of a real "chef" anywhere on the premises, contrary to what is touted on their website. This looked like it was trying to be a chain restaurant - seemed all rather artificial. Salads were pre-made and served with dressing in plastic cups on the side. Bread was stale. Steaks were cooked to temperature but weren't the greatest cuts, and also looked pretty small for the the 5oz's listed in the menu. They had a couple windows open and the stinky smoke from the associated "saloon" was wafting up and in. Overall, this is poor value, certainly was not worth the price we paid. The reception is less than welcoming. I agree you have to ignore the teeny booper receptionists at the front. Although they are there to check you in they are easily sidetracked by each other and a quick mirror check to ensure they look good. Food was okay and it's a bit pricey for the quality. Al la carte is not a good idea at the restaurant since the plates are so large and entrees are a bit small. The watermelon slice next to the entree is def in poor taste. We had the oyster Rockefeller that felt more raw than cooked. The calamari was breaded well, but was average. Mushroom caps were great. I had the flounder stuffed with crab and drizzled with lobster bisque, I couldn't finish it was incredibly salty. My his had the oak barrel steak with the crab cake. The steak was good. Pine Lodge disappointed us this evening. It was my daughter and son in laws 5th anniversary. The kitchen tried to hide their mistake of putting cheese on a dish by removing it. The steak was good, the apple cobbler undercooked but very disappointed when I checked my credit card account. My bill came to 52.15. I tipped the waitress a $10.00 bill. My credit card was charged 60.00. So my waitress gave herself an additional 7.85 bringing her total tip to 17.85. Ridiculous!!!. If it wasn't for the 3 hour drive back, I would definitely go back and speak to the manager. My husband and I got the cream of crab soup. I have to say it was very disappointing. The cream base was runny and had too much butter sitting on top. It had way too much celery flavor. I want to know where the crab was in the soup. There were only tiny pieces of crab. I think they used small white potato pieces to make you think you were getting crab meat. I went with the Oak Barrel steak (along with another person in my party) and we both didn't care for it. There was no flavor. Apparently the filet is where it's at! This place was amazing. The steak was so juicy and tender. It was melt in your mouth. I tried the oak wood fired steak and filet mignon. They were both delicious. I recommend getting an accompaniment with your steak. The restaurant is also beautiful. I love how the inside is decorated just like a lodge. read more

Had the most amazing server at pine lodge. Too bad the food was subpar and the manager was horrible. Ordered a prime rib med rare " on the rare end of that". Steak came med to med well. Got a second one even more well done. The manager proceeded to tell me it was darker due to the au jus. No sir, that may make the outside darker but the inside color and TEXTURE was so obviously over done. BTW it's understandable with prime rib ( because of the way it's made) to simply say 'sorry, we have no more at that temperature' which would allow me to order another cut. So on my $26 steak he took off $10.... really??? Finally after talking to what I presume to be the GM, they refunded it but how crazy for a Steakhouse manager to be or think I'm that stupid. read more

Our server Sarah was great! She let us know all the specials that were going on and answered all of our questions! We had the crab soup which was great, very creamy and filled with crab! Our entrees were, the shrimp pasta scampi and a 1/2 rack of ribs, the pasta was beautiful and the ribs were falling off the bone. We also enjoyed the salted caramel cheesecake, it was $5! We went for Christmas Eve dinner as we were staying at deep creek lake nearby. It wasn't very crowded which was nice. I ordered a dirty martini which was actually very good. The crab soup was delicious as well. Otherwise, a very bizarre experience. We had one waiter but for some reason every person working felt the need to constantly check in on us throughout the meal. It got to a point where we had to tell them to leave us alone. I ordered the steak and lobster tail medium rare - big mistake, it can back raw. I asked them to re cook it and when they brought it back it was still raw in the middle. I then asked just to skip the steak and they seemed to get very nervous and kept apologizing throughout the rest of the meal. This place was great!! Nothing served from a can or box at this restaurant. I love food and this place filled that hole. I had the half-rack of ribs with sweet potato casserole and my GF had the gouda prime rib sandwich. Every bite was excellent. I love places like this and the restaurant is a really cool log cabin and provides a view of the lake. Our server Serena was excellent (five stars just for her). Was looking for a place to take my girlfriend for a nice meal. Since the pickings were slim I chose Pine Lodge, assuming a steakhouse would at least have a decent steak. My gin and tonics were served with club soda and rotten limes. The cream of crab was ok, but had a good amount of shells in it. The spinach dip was sad. My girlfriend got the filet and crab cake and I got the cowboy steak, both medium rare. It took a while and there was one other table in the restaurant. When the steaks were brought out our server asked us to cut the steaks in front of her to test the temperature. They were both well done. The server was very nice and took them back to cook fresh ones. The manager (I think? He never introduced himself) came out with the re-fired steaks and my girlfriends filet was once again well done and my cowboy steak was rare. She didn't want to complain again and ate hers but I didn't want to spend $40 on something I didn't order and got mine cooked a little bit longer. When it came out the third time it was correct. Unfortunately, the best part of the meal was the free slice of store bought cake we received for the inconvenience. Ultimately I wish we had stayed in and eaten the cold pizza from the night before. Let me start by saying, I have never been motivated enough to ever write a restaurant review--until now. Do not waste your money! I don't mind paying for a nice steak dinner but I can assure you it was the worse steak dinner we ever had. I, along with my sons, ordered $29 steaks. We all asked for medium. Both of my teenage sons' steaks were cooked medium-well - but they tolerated it because we already waited a long time for our dinner--and they were too hungry to wait for a new steak to be prepared. Mine was very-well done - I sent mine back. My next steak was medium well on parts, medium on another part and RAW toward the thick edges. I showed the manager and she apologized and offered to discount my meal. It does not change the fact that the steaks lacked flavor and were grisly. On top of that... I ordered a salad with my $29 meal... And it was iceberg lettuce. Come on folks... Really?!? Save your money, don't go there. I wasted $102 of my hard-earned money on a crappy meal...it was not worth it. read more
