I went to Pineapple Thai for happy hour with some friends, and it was the perfect pick! We ordered almost everything off the happy hour menu along with a few non-alcoholic drinks including the young coconut and Thai iced tea. The food tasted authentic, and the portions were generous enough for our group of four. While everything was tasty, I highly recommend the pixel wings, garlic noodles, and golden t-cubes, all standouts! We sat outside on the spacious, beautifully decorated patio. Our hostess doubled as our server and, even while managing several tables, she never missed a beat. The service was friendly and attentive throughout. My colleagues love coming here for lunch, and I usually choose a new dish each time. I enjoy their Thai Iced Tea and other non-alc beverages. The papaya salad was delicious but came with a large slice of uncooked cabbage. We were unsure if we should eat it or if it was decorating. It was overpriced $36 with no soft shell crab, small pieces of crab meat, no flavor, and small portion. I called restaurant to update their online menu. All portions we ordered are also very small. I also ordered green curry and it had a lot of fish sauce taste, couldn't really taste Thai spices, and curry was runny. They put curry in cardboard box and it soaked up curry. Papaya salad was okay but portion very small. Pixel wings are tiny, not sure what type of chicken they use. This was our third time visiting Pineapple Thai and it was definitely the best visit. The service provided by Champ was fantastic. And all of the food was delicious. We tried some new dishes this time. For appetizer, we tried the fried tofu and it was awesome. Loved the sweet and sour dipping sauce. I ordered the Pad See Ew with chicken and it was so good. I couldn't stop eating it. I will definitely order that again next time. And this was our first time ordering desserts. I personally didn't try any but everyone else raved about the pineapple pie and the sticky mango rice. I stopped by Pineapple Thai for an early dinner and I thought it was only okay. Maybe I caught them on a bad night though as most other people have glowing things to say. Service was excellent but food was meh. We ordered the mah hor, chive cakes, and tried to order garlic noodles, but they were out?! So we switched to chicken pad see ew instead. The mah hor was beautifully presented and tasted pretty interesting, but I think it's supposed to be a cold dish and it wasn't very cold. The chive cakes were interesting! Food, presentation, ambiance, and service were all top notch here! My party of four and I tried a plethora of dishes, two drinks, and a dessert. Everything was delicious! My personal favorite was between the Gang Panaeng and the Basil Beef Fried Rice. Both had a perfect kick, flavors were well executed, and ingredients were fresh. The fried rice is definitely quite expensive but they give big chunks of perfectly cooked meat! The Pad Thai here is excellent; I don't usually order this but the one here was really flavorful and coats your mouth with that signature tangy flavor. You also need to end with that Pineapple Pie dessert! The Pie itself is a crispy, flaky, warm pineapple-jam filled pastry, and it's topped with a delicious coconut ice cream with more pineapple jam on top. 10/10 dessert! A lot of people complain about the price here but I find it pretty average considering the location & ambiance. We were looking for a quick meal after a hike, and Pineapple Thai popped up on yelp search when I searched for "casual dinner". After dining here, I would say, it's more like dressy, casual, not post hike, casual. Nonetheless, the meal was delicious and I would definitely come again. The green curry was definitely the standout dish, as it was extremely flavorful, but not overpowering and the vegetables in it, eggplant and peppers, weren't too soggy like you often find in dishes like these. I've been meaning to check out Pineapple Thai's happy hour, and luckily they have it on the weekends, too! It's 3-4pm drinks only and 4-6pm if you'd like to order food from the small bites menu. The space is modern and comfortable, with both indoor and outdoor seating options. I really enjoyed it! Service was good with adequate check ins, but nothing too extreme. They were good with noticing and providing water refills. We tried the Pad Thai with chicken, Pixel Wings, Endless Summer Roll, Golden T-Cubes, Garlic Chive Cake, and Thai Beef Jerky. Pad Thai had a nice sauciness and sourness. The summer rolls were a little bit lackluster fillings-wise but the peanut sauce made them serviceable. Pixel Wings (chicken wings with Thai chili sauce) were delicate and had nice seasoning. The Golden T-Cubes (fried tofu) were okay and the sauce helped a lot to bring it together. Thai Beef Jerky was a well-seasoned beef, but more of grilled beef pieces, not the dried/crunchy "jerky" we had envisioned. The Garlic Chive Cake was our favorite -- a mix of fluffy/crispy texture with aromatics. And we kept dipping everything else into to the accompanying soy based sauce, so you know that one was good. Overall, a great spot for happy hour bites. Parking wasn't too difficult to find on a Sunday, as the plaza has a parking garage. Closer to 3.5 stars for my Happy Hour experience two months ago. Came here with colleagues on a Friday evening for drinks and small bites. The name is "jumbo" but it's pretty small for four people. I also tried a new dish 'Mu Yang' which has grilled pork served with sweet & spicy tamari's sauce & sticky rice. (2) Pad Thai - just OK, the sauce was a bit too sweet per my preference and it was as def not spicy enough even though we asked for spicy. (3) Tom Yum soup - my least fave, understand its happy hour but and side order but it was lukewarm which is hard no for me. I had dinner at Pineapple Thai for the first time last week. Make sure you book reservations! If we didn't have reservations, the wait was 45 min. There is a free parking garage nearby, but if not you can try your luck at street parking. The restaurant itself was super nicely decorated with holiday decor but was a little cramped. We were sitting near the doors that they had opened so it got a bit chilly since the cold wind was blowing in. Our waitress was really nice & food came out fairly quick. We had ordered Pad See U, Chicken Satay, Pineapple Shrimp, Thai Beef Jerky & for dessert the Pineapple Delightt. The Pad See U is a classic. We got it with the beef and it was hands down my fav dish of the night. I would get the chicken satay again. It tasted like what I expected. I would probably skip on the Pineapple Shrimp & Thai Beef Jerky next time. We had thought the shrimp would grilled but the dish was pretty underwhelming. The Thai Beef Jerky definitely tasted like jerky but these cuts were pretty thick and chewy. The pineapple delight was huge. It can definitely feed 3-4 people. Taste wise the coconut ice cream I thought was ok & there was sliced pineapples at the bottom which were fresh. It reminded me of a Filipino dessert, Halo Halo, because of the beans/jello. I've tried Pineapple Thai on two separate occasions, and on both I've had a wonderful experience! Located in Main St. Cupertino, parking is never a problem with the multi-story garage. I always make sure to join their waitlist ahead of time, this will ensure you get seated immediately. The service here is always so hospitable, all waitresses are accommodating and lovely! The decor inside is really cute as well, they have indoor and outdoor seating with heaters. Their Pad Thai is on the sweeter side, but I love the huge portion! I've also tried their Grilled Pork & Lychee Salad, which was such an interesting pairing. The dressing is super spicy be warned! But the flavors are on point, sweet lychee compliments the char of the pork really well. On this occasion however, we opted for their Pineapple Fried Rice and Chicken Satay. My only qualm was the duck was a touch overcooked, but otherwise nearly perfect. *Yum Yum Jumbo Soup was filled with jumbo prawns that were cooked perfectly and was a fun hands-on experience eating. *Since we had a party of 5+, they charged an automatic 18% gratuity, and the waitress was quick to point out that it was already charged and no extra was necessary. When you go out for Thai food, there's usually an expectation of variety and flexibility. That simply wasn't here. Several common options weren't available, which became a recurring theme. The tea situation was particularly frustrating. My partner asked for tea and was told the only option was ginger tea with honey and lemon. What arrived was a large glass that tasted like ginger juice or a piece of ginger soaked in hot water with lemon and honey mixed in. It was $7. It was offensive to be charged that. I asked for black tea and was told they only had some kind of orange spiced tea, so I opted for water. Food-wise, I ordered the green curry with chicken ($20). I had to actively hunt for the chicken and found maybe three tiny pieces total, at best half an ounce. Flavor-wise, the dominant note was just spice and none of the other elements of a good green curry really came through. It was serviceable, but very average. My partner ordered a vegetable dish with chicken, garlic, as described on the menu. Like my dish, it had almost no chicken and felt uninspired overall. She asked for brown rice and was told they only offer jasmine rice and yet another small but cumulative disappointment. Service was polite and functional, but completely lacking personality. We overheard another waitress at a nearby table who was noticeably curt and dismissive when customers asked about substitutions or availability with lots of "no, we don't have that" and "you have to get this" without much warmth. It didn't create a welcoming vibe. The space itself is fine and about as atandard Cupertino Village atmosphere as one can imagine, but for the price point and expectations, this was a miss. Came here for the first time this week and loved the ambiance. Restaurant was very clean and food was pretty good. I am deducting one less star due to the "wellness charge" automatically added to my bill. When I asked my server what this charge was he said it was for sanitation and other things. I asked him if he could remove it which he did, but I'm still unhappy with all these random up charges for employee wages etc. we shouldn't be subsiding and I hate when restaurants sneakily add that in.... That was the biggest turn off for me. Also they didn't have mango sticky rice when I went there. What Thai restaurant doesn't have that available? It was a bummer because its usually the one thing I look forward to at Thai restaurants. Overall, the combo lunch deal was decent and it comes with Thai iced tea. Still on the fence whether I would return due to the miscellaneous wellness up charge on the bill. read more
