    MANGO STICKY RICE ($11.99)
    Sandee L.

Craving something light and sweet after the gluttony of House of Prime Rib. My friend found Ping Yang and we tried to walk off some calories along the way (kinda sketch btw....we didn't realize we were on the border of the TL). Empty at 8pm, they happily obliged our request to dine in. I loved my lychee and Thai tea bingsu, which was more than enough to share between two. The strawberry bingsu was just as delicious. The mango in the mango sticky rice was a very odd off-putting color, but it was sweet. Another friend got the strawberry crepe and was surprised the crepe itself was the red like a strawberry (probably red food coloring: kinda weird). Atop was the smallest scoop of "à la mode" for an additional $5... Service was good.

Came across this place while looking for a restaurant open late on a Sunday evening and decided to check it out! I browsed through reviews mentioning the unideal area but most people seemed to rate it highly, and I figured the area can't be that bad, so I was sold Bussed over and arrived as a party of 2 a little after 9:30pm. As multiple reviews mentioned, this did not appear to be a popular place to dine-in for dinner (it was indeed empty when we arrived) and it seemed takeout was the more popular option. Sure enough, soon after arriving, someone came in to pickup a takeout order while we were looking at the menu. Decided to go with two chicken pad see ew's (one with a 1/5 spice level and the other with a 3/5 spice level) and a Thai iced tea. Enjoyed the Thai iced tea but was pretty disappointed about how bland the pad see ew was (we added soy sauce and that helped). However, they really did not hold back on the spice HAHA. I consider myself to have a mild tolerance for spice, but the 1/5 spice that I ordered felt more like a medium. My dining companion, who has a pretty high spice tolerance, was also breathing a bit heavily while eating the 3/5 spice. The Thai iced tea proved to be quite necessary for our meal in cooling down the spice but was not enough (I also ended up chugging a large glass of lemonade at home) The rating for this place is pretty high (currently at 4.3/5 stars), so I'm wondering if we ordered incorrectly or maybe the desserts are much better. However, since neither the trek to the restaurant nor the pad see ew were that enjoyable, I'm not sure I'd see myself coming back (at least not at night).

Great no-frills late-night dessert place! The restaurant was completely empty when we walked in on Friday night (think most people get take out), and we opted for the mango bingsoo. The texture was impeccable, and the flavors were too: it even came with lychee pieces which were unexpected. Would come back to try out their other desserts!

I ordered from here as a post club dinner lol and it hit the spot! it was my first time trying their food and it slapped! also I am someone who can handle spice (I don't need hot sauce on everything but I enjoy it with the right foods) and I ordered my meal to be their medium spice level and it was hot! I could still eat it but def burned after a couple bites hahahah I am totally gonna come back to try their mild flavors! I got the mussaman curry which was a 9/10 for flavor! and the cashew stir fry rice which was an 8.5/10! def worth trying

Yum! My partner and I shared the duck curry, tom yum noodle soup, and mango sticky rice. Everything was SOOO delicious and I enjoyed every single dish. Service was great too. If I'm in the area, I'd come back here.

The food was better than I expecting. Coming from Sacramento, I was concerned it would be a miss but they proved me wrong. They are opened late and we arrived at 10 pm so kapoon was unavailable. However, we were happy with our order. The waiter was super kind and chatted with us. He also came to our table to refill our water even though we had a pitcher. The atmosphere was relaxing and clean. Definitely will return!

EGG FRIED RICE & STIR FRY EGGPLANT
    Jade L.

I ordered takeout for dinner from here and got the stir fried eggplant with tofu & veggies at the medium spiciness level. I also substituted the jasmine rice it came with for egg fried rice. The food arrived quickly and was nice and hot on arrival. Everything tasted great, and it was a good value for what l ordered.

The area was a little sketchy on a weekend night, but I got even more paranoid when I saw that the restaurant workers blocked the entrance with a table. Once we settled down and saw more customers filtering in, I started to feel more at ease. A lot of items sounded amazing, but I got this stir-fry noodle dish that was so delicious. I just landed in SF that night so my appetite wasn't big, but I wish I could've eaten more! I didn't take the leftovers to go since we would be eating out every day. The shaved ice looked so good, so even though we were all full, we still ordered honeydew melon bingsu. It came with lots of whipped cream and condensed milk.

After a failure of trying to get dinner in Japantown, we decided to come here after seeing the good reviews. We did not consider the location and found ourselves in the Tenderloin, but luckily it was not as sketchy as a couple blocks down. Food: The appetizer sampler was okay, and felt like they just fried an assortment of frozen items like French fries and spring rolls. The watermelon bingsoo was refreshing but a bit heavy like vanilla ice cream. The ice melted so fast and we were left with soupy watermelon. The restaurant was clean and comfy and the staff is nice, you can tell it is a family run mom-and-pop. I wouldn't return because the food and location is not great.

Great place for a later night dinner or desert, I was surprised how many places closed early or at least early for us and this place came up. Very happy with the dishes we got and for 3 of us it was easy to divide a couple main dishes and appetizer for 3. Small place with a nice staff and we loved the curry and soup we choose. The one person in the group who ordered dessert said it was good and I will take his word, I have not even been much for most Asian desserts. Prices also seemed very reasonable for the city so all that makes it worth five stars.

Introducing one of my favorite desserts in San Francisco! Fresh mini-watermelon combined with sweet shaved ice - it looks incredibly cute and appealing, but it tastes even better! I've kept going back, and there's usually no wait at this restaurant. Have a wonderful summer! Dessert: Watermelon Bingsu @ Ping Yang Thai Grill & Dessert

Spontaneous find for appeTHAIzing dessert and food. We were just looking for a dessert spot near where we were, saw the watermelon shaved ice and said "PHUKET *shrugs* . Let's give it a shot" .:: Food ::. Watermelon Bingsu $14.99: served in a half watermelon, they scoop watermelons to make it IG worthy. I didnt expect much honestly, thinking it would be PLAIN shaved ice with watermelon and condensed milk but I was WRONG. The shaved ice was so milky sweet, and it melts on your mouth. It was like "snow". Not the icy kind. It was sooo good. Moo Ping Set $14.99: Moo Ping = skewers that are grilled, and this tasted like pork. Had a good portion of fat to meat ratio. It was served with sticky rice and a tart like sauce which amplified the flavors. LOVED this dish. Nome Yan Sala $5: my friend ordered this pink drink, he said it tasted like bubble gum. .:: Ambiance / Service / Parking ::. The place was very simple. Wood decors and green vines along the wall. Very quiet when we went on a Friday around 7pm, we were the only dine in group. Our waitress was VERY nice! Food came in a very timely manner. We got lucky with parking down 2 blocks, free since it was the weekend and after 6pm.

After a soccer game, or to celebrate something, or just on a random Tuesday night. But somewhere along the way, pizza became a delivery thing. Something to eat when I was feeling lazy. My quest to find the best pizza in San Francisco is reminding me how much I enjoy sitting down for pizza with the ones I love. And Hi Hat is one of the best spots in the city to do that. The people are super nice. There's plenty of space to cozy up, and probably a dozen beers on tap. Good, local beers, like Bare Bottle. Cellarmaker. Ghost Town. And yes, the food is really really good. Especially the pizza. They're known for their spicy vodka and Stracciatella which has this creamy, garlicky sauce...and a slow burn to it. I really enjoyed it. And the jersey pie, which is really all about the tomatoes. My wife LOVED it. I thought it was good....in a simple pleasures kinda way. You can these by the slice, and after 9PM slices are three bucks. But some pies, you can only get whole. Like this sausage and ricotta pizza that I absolutely loved. I'm normally not a ricotta guy - but this was whipped so light and airy...in between bites of salty sausage....I get it now. And of all the NY style spots I've tried on this quest, this might be my favorite crust. I asked their pizza tosser how he does it. It's a five day process, and they keep the dough cold until the second it goes in the oven. That traps the air bubbles inside. And those bubbles are what give it this airy, crispy, fluffy crust. Then he slid a cookie in front of my daughter, and it hit me that this was HER first random tuesday nights going out to pizza with mom and dad...and I know she loved it too.

The taproom is quite spacious and could accommodate several large groups; however, the night of our visit was relatively quiet, perhaps due to the cold weather. Since there weren't any large tables, our group spread out over three smaller tables. As people came and went throughout the evening, it was convenient that we could each order our own beer and food at the bar. I selected an IPA from Fieldwork, a local favorite, and the beer stayed cold and refreshing throughout the evening. The food menu was limited, but I was craving something warm and salty to pair with my beer. Stepping through the door you wouldn't know the place was under new management if you didn't check the name on the door. Same decor, same layout, same everything except the logos/art. It's a nice place to swing by for a good beer. I hope they do well so that they expand the list of taps to a larger selection (they have the infrastructure, just not the kegs).
