It's typically an Asian dessert cafe, but they do have an extensive menu of savory Asian food items. This place has been around for awhile and it's great to see that it's still here. We usually visit for dessert, as most patrons do. So the majority of treats I've tried have been on the sweeter end. On our most recent visit, I tried their Sesame & Almond Paste $10. This was burn your tongue hot, so beware! And it was extremely filling and thick! The Husband got their version of the Ginger Milk Curd $9, with a warning that it's very "gingery" which we gladly said yes to. It was also yummy, although not sweet enough. He did notice it was sweeter closer to the bottom, so maybe the sugar wasn't dissolved into the milk as well. The Little Guy and Little Gal always get the Hong Kong Style Waffle $7.50. My mother enjoyed her Mango Sago $11, while my brother kept it ridiculously simple with his standard Banana Split $12. On this last visit, we came on a Saturday evening and I was worried since we had a party of 10. We lucked out as it was early enough before the later crowd and we were able to split up easily at two tables. The owner did offer to move another table for us, which was unnecessary since we were all seated already. It was quite nice of him. This place has been around for as long as I can remember and it's honestly such a staple in SF for classic HK dessert and cafe snacks. I usually come here when I'm craving no frills desserts because they have all your classics and everything is not too sweet. Their Hong Kong milk tea is also on point. They also have great happy hour deals from 5-7pm where certain items come with a free drink. Came for a quick dessert stop on a weeknight. Around 10:30 pm it was pretty busy and the atmosphere was lively. We ordered salt and pepper fried tofu and mango-go-go. The mango-go-go come out within 5 minutes and the tofu came out in around 10. Mango-go-go was alright, pomelo was on the bitter side and the mango wasn't that sweet. Portion size is a bit small for $12 as well. The fried tofu was a big disappointment. It came out hot, but flavor wise was seriously lacking. This is a HK style cafe . As the big banner outside they are proud of their traditional Chinese dessert . I ordered the steamed egg custard in ginger juice . We got the Mango Sticky Rice which was more like a pudding with black rice rather than what you'd traditionally think. It was good! The mango was very sweet and juicy, and the rice wasn't too sweet but had more of a porridge texture. This cafe reminds me of the cafes I went to growing up after school because of its homey ambiance and wide-ranging menu. We came in on a Monday night, and it was very empty (so good for us). I ordered an iced Horlick, a macaroni soup, and a sesame balls in ginger soup. Horlick, fire, honestly can't mess that up. Macaroni soup was good, the egg was perfectly runny. But the soup was a bit too salty. Sesame balls were really good. Plump and soft. Ginger soup is also always a hit.
