This is our favorite pizza place in Waltham. That said, I will not be ordering from here again. I just waited over an hour for a buffalo chicken pizza and Mac and cheese bites that look like they were sitting for that full hour - super soggy and nasty. Also, pizza must have been tilted because half the cheese was off of it. Literally inedible. We order from here all the time. I called to let them know this was not the norm and the response was that I could have a store credit or another pizza and there was nothing else they could do. If their pizza wasn't as good as it is they definitely would not get 3 stars from me. Their customer service is TERRIBLE. I walked in and go to the counter to order - the employee is sitting at a table and walks over to the register leisurely. I asked how long it would take for two slices of buffalo chicken pizza- she proceeds to ask spicy buffalo or just buffalo? I was dumbfounded as I only saw one buffalo chicken item on the menu. she didn't hand me my receipt or even ask if I wanted it. Maybe the worst experience here. Pizza was cold, the French fries were also cold, soggy and embarrassing that they were even served. The salad consisted primarily of lettuce and was the most overpriced salad I have ever had. Five bucks for a few pieces of foxy lettuce, what a joke! I have been ordering Pinis pizza since I was a kid but I feel as if the pizza has went very downhill. I'm not sure if there is new management/ owner but the pizza dough is different and almost every time I order it is undercooked. I ordered a cheese pizza and a Buffalo chicken pizza. Buffalo chicken pizza was very salty, over loaded with blue cheese dressing and undercooked. Cheese was ok but it's a cheese pizza... I find it very disappointing paying almost $40 for pizza that we ended up wasting. I understand with the cost of produce going up but still it should be consumable in the least and it was not. I remember when I moved to north Waltham from Winter Hill in Somerville that I'd have to give some things up... being stumble-home distance from bars, easy-ish access to the T, and my favorite pizza place at the base of Winter Hill. Imagine my delight when I discovered that it was a chain! A chain of two, and the other was in Waltham. Destiny... Pini's has the best crust of any place I can think of. It's chewy but not rubbery, crisp without being crunchy, and when it's oven-warm it's a slice of heaven. The cheese pizza is a good NYC-esque pizza. But for my money, it's all about Aunt Virginia's Pesto Special. Artichokes, mushrooms, pesto and cheese on that magic crust represent an evolution of the pizza- a quantum leap in cuisine. True New Yorkers will most likely turn up their noses, but I can't drive to New York Pizza in Roxbury every time I want to score a slice, and Greek pizza to me is too greasy and crispy to enjoy. Woooowwww I was wrong about Pini's.... Their pizza is actually pretty good. I never looked at their menu before and my opinion was based solely on the cheese and pepperoni that my work or ex had always ordered. This time I left my dentist office, just next door, and thought to myself, "damn I could really go for some pizza now..." and so I thought I'd give them a try once again. And let me tell you, I'm glad I did. While, their slice pizzas didn't appeal to me, simply because they only offer cheese or pepperoni. I'm a fan of neither really. And so I look at their list of pizzas more thoroughly.... SWEET... they have white pizza called the Zsa Zsa. I haven't had a white pizza in a looooong time. Now... let me just give you a warning, this white pizza is not your typical white pizza. Where I come from, we have "WHITE PIZZA" with ricotta and goat cheese. However, up here, the interpretation is a bit different. Apparently, white pizza up here means "sauceless" which I had no idea until I read the menu more thoroughly while nom-ing away at my pizza in one hand and the menu in the other. So what exactly is on this pizza you're probably wondering at this point. Well... I actually ended up getting 1/2 ZsaZsa and 1/2 Bianca which cost me a total of $9.48 with tax for a medium size (12") pizza. The Zsa Zsa is loaded with garlic (bam! loooove this!) , some olive oil?, tomato chunks, and their 3-cheese blend. While the Bianca had slices of breaded eggplant, broccoli, garlic and maybe some olive oil as well. I can still taste the garlic from these two and I love it! So.... a note for everyone... if you come to Pini's don't just get the cheese or pepperoni pizzas, 'cause they're better put to use as a frisbee; instead get something off of their specialty gourmet pizza menu! I tried them twice. The first time I got a buffalo chicken pizza. It was not very good. I ended up giving it away. Then two months passed and it was convenient to go to Pini's from my work so I tried something new: cheese pizza and mild buffalo chicken tenders on the side (Sense a theme here?) Well, the buffalo chicken was a little spicier than I thought for a mild sauce, but over all it was crispy and tasty. However, the cheese pizza had globs of cheese (I suspect they use imitation cheese, it didn't taste that good) and very little sauce. The sauce they had was not what I liked, I prefer a marinara tasting sauce on mine. I did think the crust was decent, however with everything on top tasting gross, it didn't really matter. Another thing, they had the incorrect price on the chicken on their website. I ordered via phone and when I went in I was charged more than expected (only a dollar, but still). I told the woman, who said she would tell the owner. The website still has the incorrect price on it. I guess I'll be ordering from Domino's next time. read more

I have to say, I agree with Roni E. If you are looking for some nice hot cheap cheese and sauce on cardboard, this is your place. Personally, if I am going for broke (calorie-wise, that is) and ordering pizza, I want it to actually taste like something other than frozen store bought pies. Not to be too critical of other reviews of Pini's, but do you really trust the review when the reviewer's favorite word is "awesome"? My faves are West Newton Pizza & Grill (try the thick Sicilian style!!) and Sweet Tomatoes - both in West Newton Square. In fact, I ought to go review those two right now. read more

Ordered a large roasted red pepper + black olive pizza with a side of sweet potato fries from here based on all the positive reviews on Yelp and was sadly very, very disappointed. The pizza took over an hour to get here (on a Wednesday night) and when it arrived it was lukewarm and the cheese had congealed. The fries were cold, soggy, and burnt. After microwaving the pizza it was barely edible. The cheese was nasty, the peppers tasted like they weren't ripe and the crust was chewy and tasted of flour. I WOULD NOT recommend this place. We got better (and cheaper) pizza from Athens (only other place we've tried so far) around the corner. read more

Fantastic NY-style pizza. You wouldn't know if from looking at the place, as it seems like your average strip-mall pizza joint. But when you see their menu, things start to look up when you realize that they don't actually make much other than pizza. I agree with Rob L.--the eggplant parm pizza is spectacular, although every flavor I've had there has been really good. My sister came up to visit from DC and was quite jealous that I lived so close to such a good pizza place. The only problem? I was on a shopping trip to BJ's and got sidetracked by Pini's on my way to Shaw's. I was thinking in my mind that if there's a Chinese take-out around, then there must be a pizza shop too, and I was right!! I was only going to get a slice, but when I saw my options, I decided to order a small cheese pizza. This pizza is all about the crust, very light, doughy, and crusty - overall very fresh, and probably the freshest dough on a pizza I've ever had. There wasn't enough sauce for me, and the cheese was mediocre. They did a good job of keep the pizza bottom nicely cooked but not charred. I also did enjoy the slightly burnt cheese. While I did enjoy the pizza, I wouldn't go out of my way to get it but would consider getting it if I were in the area. The pizza here is usually good and this review has nothing to do with that. I live a few blocks away at Watertown mews and usually it's hot without issue. This time ordering at my girlfriends house in Waltham the pizza was cold and the fries don't even bother with those, for 4.20 you get what looks like less than a small at every other place and they were crushed in the box. The 2 liter soda was previously opened as it arrived flat. I called to say the soda was flat and they sent another one over about 25 minutes later but didn't apologize for anything. If your going for just pizza and picking it up or having it delivered within a few hundred yards then I recommend it but don't order if you are outside that radius and your expecting something even remotely warm. read more

Pini's is my favorite pizza EVER. They have a lot of toppings and special fancy gourmet pizza's but for me nothing beats pini's cheese pizza. We order from there almost every saturday. Delivery is always pretty quick, we live pretty close. One time when i first moved in to my apartment i ordered a couple pizza's that my mom was going to pay for when she got to my house, but didn't realize they only took cash until the delivery guy got to the door. Of course i didn't have any cash, but luckily the guy lived in the same building as us so he told me he would send his wife by to get the money! He was pretty cool about it! They have really good greek salads too, lots of feta and fresh veggies. read more

I have a sewing school nearby and we do birthday parties. We always recommend Pini's to our guests. The service is great, the crust is awesome, and it's not too greasy. Something else I like is that they're always extremely consistent and right on time. Both are very important during a kids party. I've also ordered my own "special" pizza from Pini's. The first time they thought I misordered, but now they've figured it out and they do an amazing job. I really like how they offer different crust options and the ingredients are fresh. Without a doubt, the best pizza in Waltham. Perfect thin crust, great fresh toppings, and reasonable prices. Big fan of "The Classic (sausage , extra cheese, and garlic oil - YES PLEASE!) and the buffalo chicken pie. Wouldn't recommend going in to sit down at lunch - the space is pretty cramped. Call in your order, get your food, and run to the nearest isolated spot where no one will put their dirty hands on your delicious pizza. I was all prepared to write another "boring, everyday corner pizza shop" review for Pini's, but they SURPRISED me! I had a craving for pizza, and my pal always orders from them. I knew they had all the new fancy schmancy pizzas (mashed potatoes, alfredo sauce, spinach, etc.), but I just wanted a decent plain slice of pepperoni. Couldn't seem to locate that on their menu (!), so I went for the classic- sausage pizza. OMG! It was heavenly. The crust was tasty, the sausage delicious, the amount of cheese was perfect, it was just a darned GOOOD PIZZA! They lost a star for SLOW DELIVERY. Let me just start by saying that I love pizza! I have pretty much tried all the local places and this is by far my favorite for takeout. It is not ideal because they won't deliver all the way to Brighton nor do they take credit cards. But whenever I get a craving, we drive out to Waltham to pick it up and I have never been disappointed. The crust is fantastic! When you are building a masterpiece, the foundation is key. They make their own crust (and I am fascinated by the dough baller machine...so fun to watch). I have no idea what is in the recipe, but they got it right. I am so sick of cardboard texture, no-flavor pizza crust. This place is a breath of fresh air to me. The sauce is also good and they do not load up on it. It works out well because you can taste all the flavors instead of being overwhelmed by one. The gourmet pizza combinations they have on the menu are interesting. If you decide to be creative and pick your own toppings, you will not be let down either. They have never messed up an order for us which is more than I can say for most pizza places. During this pandemic, it is really hard just to get a slice on the fly. Well, I found my new place that was right under my nose. I visited another place and was welcomed with a "...place ur order in advance and it will be brought out to u!" Disappointed. When I found Pini's and called I was so refreshed that they were open and I could grab a slice with my little girl. Service was great and fast and I was able to enjoy it outside. It doesn't cure cancer, come coated in super awesomeness or grant immortality the way a handful of the other reviewers on Yelp seem to think it should have... nope. Instead, it's just very, very good pizza, and one of the very best places that serves up the pie in Waltham for sure. Pini's is the pizza I've been looking for since moving to the Boston area over a year ago. Everything about their pizza is excellent, and they use fresh toppings (including fresh pineapple!!). They even have gluten free options, which rocks because I know plenty of people with allergies. Their salads are delicious, too. Last night I ordered a pizza for take out and they wound up remaking it because it had bubbles, but then the cashier let me take BOTH pizzas home! I made the decision to go and pick my order up as the reviews I read all had issues with delivery time, adresses, etc. I just got a large pizza with peppers, onions, pepperoni, and olives. It was hot when I showed up and it was about $17. The crust is on the thin side, which I like. And the pizza wasn't too wet despite all the toppings.
