Pipi's is a "must eat at" place when you are in Puerto Vallarta. It's not classic Mexican but more of what we have grown to expect in the U.S. with sides of rice and retried beans. The food and service are excellent as well as the quart sized Margaritas! The table side guacamole service is an experience. You have not lived until you have eaten such a freshly made side dish. In this visit I had chicken enchiladas with red sauce. The crispy shrimp tacos are huge and the breading is reminiscent of Chinese food. Good pozole. Tourist trap for sure. Recommended by a few folks and of course, the 4 star yelp rating, we came here for dinner on our first night in PV. The table side guac was amazing but that was all. I ordered the seafood enchiladas and my fiancee got the carne asada chimichanga. Both were meh. We've had better mexican food in the Bay Area for sure. This place, definitely for tourists that are too scared to try real mexican food, the fact that they have buffalo wings on the menu should say everything, and the fact that I actually saw someone order it should tell you the type of people that come here. Over all the food is delicious and the avocado is perfection! But....... As a Mexican American visitor ( and from the looks of it our table was the only one with a full set of Mexicans) I felt I needed a lighter shade of skin to get better service. Not only did they take for ever to take our order or bring us the "on the spot avocado" a person whom looked to be in charge had to come in and check if they had prepped it for us already! Unfortunately this wasn't the only issue with this place. Not only did the waiter drop a large set of dishes next to us with some of the glass and left overs on our table a piece of it punctured my sons leg. The damage was minimal but the response received was disappointing. Un acknowledged. I had to request to replace my sons drink because I was afraid there would be any glass particles and was made fun of by the waiter almost mocking my request. After the meal was paid... typically we get receipt back and we leave tip in the check book. Which is a custom any other restaurant I've been to. The meal had an overall 50 pesos in change. Which again we are obviously not quite done with our drinks the waiter comes back to our table demanding 300 pesos in gratuity. The meal was more than what the Change was and assumed this was their final tip. After his rude demand we just decided to leave. read more

Our cab driver recommended this place for good margaritas but I was more impressed with the free guacamole at lunch! They make it right at your table and give you a large serving. All their servings were large, you will easily have leftovers or can share with someone. Margarita was enormous, we got the mango and it was only $6. read more

This place obviously caters to foreigners. The locals doesn't dine here from what we have seen. Food was extremely whitewashed. Seasoning was extremely light and no spices in their main entree. This place is an EXPERIENCE! The margaritas are HUGE and strong. I had a combination plate that I split with my wife and it was more than enough. Two tacos and two enchiladas! We arrived later in the evening and there was a large party already waiting. I was surprised when they said it would be a five minute wait. We were seated promptly and from the very beginning we were treated to enormous margaritas (we only needed one), large and tasty portions, and amazing service from the army of servers and assistants. Probably one of the worst places I have eaten. I went here because my brother recommended it... both my boyfriend and I got our entrees... took a couple bites and called it quits. I ordered the Seafood Burrito, which wasn't great... but my boyfriend's dish was the real winner. He ordered seafood enchiladas which came smothered in a pan-Asian-like sweet-and-sour sauce. We've been coming to Pipi's for many years, and it's part of our traditional yearly visit to Mexico. The food is usually great, the atmosphere is fun (but LOUD) and the food comes out fast. This year, however, our experience wasn't very positive. We were offered seating right next to the women's bathroom, which was odd because there were many tables open that were not near a bathroom. We asked to be moved and the hostess agreed. Our food came quickly, and the portions are ample: my wife and I shared one of their combo meals - two tacos and two enchiladas - and we were satisfied. Our food was quite good (4 stars). My father ordered the beef fajita, and wasn't very impressed with it - the beef was tough and flavourless, and the onions and peppers were barely cooked (3 stars). My mother got the worst of it though: she ordered the coconut shrimp with Chipotle mayo and it gave her food poisoning (1 star). Six hours after eating it - and she had nothing else that night except the frozen ice cream we all had there for desert - she was extremely ill. I do not toss around the term "food poisoning" lightly, but this was a clear cut case. Pipi's needs to take more care with their food prep. I don't know that we'll ever be back, which is a real shame. read more

Very good, we were given chips and two salsas both are good. One had a good bite of chil flavor. My husband ordered the Chili Relleno plate. He enjoyed every bite. I asked for shrimp tacos that were not on the menu. I got exactly what I wanted 3 savory crispy shrimp tacos and refried beans. Then a nice gentlemen will stop by your table and prepare fresh guacamole, also complimentary. When I return I will order one appetizer and one main to SHARE. This will be satisfying, meet most people's expectations and more than enough. Heck, the margarita could be a share item, as well. It's that big. Finish the night off with a dessert item, if you wish. What makes this place special is the musical group that plays all night long. They are fantastic and get the crowd going. I got drugged here. Not lying. Was with four adults. We each had two margaritas and food. Took the last sip of my second margarita and blacked out and have no memory for four hours. Every adult I was with had the same conclusion as my condition escalated in a matter of minutes and I literally have no memories or snapshots during this time period. Thank god the other adults were able to get me back to the cruise ship without any incident. I would be happy to discuss this with Management or anyone here curious of the details. Admittedly it may not have been the bartender or restaurant that was involved but I feel I have to tell my story. Food was great but our waiter was horrible Older gentleman named Jose De Jesus. He was cocky. Didn't like that we shared a meal and our bill came to $84 US dollars. We gave him a $20 tip and he got upset about that. Scoffed at us that the tip wasn't enough. Complained that he should have gotten more. What an ass! People I was with gave him more money out of guilt but he scammed us. I asked around and found the expected tip is 16%! We gave him 23% and then they throw him another $8 thinking we were in the wrong. He ended up getting a 33% tip and still wasn't happy! Don't let Jose scam you on the tip! read more

I loved coming here every time we came to PV. Now not so much. I brought my husband here with friends for his birthday and although the food was great and so were drinks the atmosphere was really low. When the bill came and I gave 20% tip they said it was cheap and then asked if the service and food were no good.., They were horrified that I gave this tip. In Canada they get 15% of the bill??? I really don't think it is right for them to complain about the tip. I will never be back to Pipi's and I will NOT recommend this place to anyone.
