It is not at all authentic, not one local or expat present. They immediately come to your table and ask you "how do you want your guacamole, medium, mild or hot". Fortunately, we knew of this "money maker" and declined their $9.00 guacamole. The food was awful, nothing was freshly made or tasty. I had to apologize to my friends for bringing them to a tourist trap, when great restaurants are all around us. Service was efficient American style, not the warm friendly Mexican style we expected. The place was noisy with everyone attempting to talk over the the blenders, and music. Honestly, if this place was in my neighborhood back home, I wouldn't visit. Went to this restaurant after reading the mixed reviews. I ordered the chicken fajitas. They came on a skillet. What was surprising was the entire dinner came out in 5 minutes from when I ordered it (faster than a big mac) The chicken was dry and hard. No flavor. Not juicy. It was definitely not cooked fresh. The fajitas were bland tasting. Overall it was mediocre at best. I would not go back, ever. The price was too much for the poor food quality. Okay, Pipi's is admittedly geared towards the cruise liners coming into centro Vallarta; particularly with American tastes in mind that appreciate gargantuan portions, but who can argue with a excellent margarita the size of a goldfish bowl after a "stressful" day of shopping at nearby zona Romantica and a rain storm? I had high hopes as this was a spot my husband had been to previously and loved it. We were seated quickly, but the table was tiny for two people and a baby, and it was tucked into a corner. It was difficult to fit the food and the margaritas on the table. My husband enjoyed his seafood enchiladas and I had the beef fajitas. I was hoping for more flavor, but they were pretty bland American flavored fajitas. Service was fast, but the food is definitely not mexican, but rather American. Excellent atmosphere for a festive group looking for good Mexican food and margaritas the size of your head. Complementary chips and fresh guacamole is prepared for you table side. This is some of the best guac I had in Mexico. If you are cilantro adverse- make sure to let them know because it was heavy on the cilantro. The combo fajitas (shrimp, chicken & steak) seemed to be the thing to order. The highlight- the flavorful lightly grilled sweet onions. The frozen margaritas are huge and delicious. I recommend ordering them on the rocks to save room for your food. They are that big. They also have a mariachi band that really livens up the atmosphere in the place. Also, saw a few out of the bottle tequila pours into mouths around the place. Seems aggressive but fitting preparation to explore downtown Puerto Vallarta. Very inexpensive. $12 USD total per person. Amazing food for the price. Gauc and salsa wildly fresh. A man with a guitar comes to play and the servers speak English (which may be helpful to some) and are incredibly nice and helpful! This place came highly recommended as "authentic Mexican food." My wife had an appetizer and it was a full meal. I had beef fajitas which were very good. I had the chicken, shrimp, and beef. I gave only four stars because the chicken was way over dry and tough. We also had the made at table side guacamole. It was good but it had too much lime which gave it a very overpowering citrus/acid flavor. Overall, a very good meal at a fair price. Note: when we were there they had a mariachis band. This is not my favorite thing but these guys were good and played a wide variety of music. If you want a quiet dining experience don't go here, it is one huge party. read more

Just visited there after several times in the past only to find that the food, margaritas and service was not as good. Maybe they have changed ownership or cutting cost like most businesses today due to covid. I provided them with this feedback via email and was told I should have mentioned this to them at that time. I told them that I will not go there on my next visit if things to not improve and they said sorry to hear this. I hope no one else has the same experience. They have always been exceptional. Boy, are we glad we listened to him. We ordered the seafood enchiladas and one combination plate as well as guacamole and chips. The food was really delicious! My favorite was the seafood enchilada. I always have the shrimpusses which are super fresh and prepared perfectly. Lotsa choices when you're looking for fresh shrimpusses. Just a little hint, my least favorite is the grilled shrimp which come with their tasty rice AND mashed potatoes. I like Pipi's special shrimpusses with mushrooms & peppers. We always go here when we come to PV. It's fun, the kids like it, everyone is friendly and polite. The prices are reasonable. They get customers in and out pretty quick. They know how to cycle and maximize revenue. This is the norm, you don't spend hours having dinner if that's what you want. If you want a nice enjoyable relaxing dinner, this isn't the place. Pipi's in Puerto Vallarta is a Great place to eat and just let loose. Its a fun and vibrant place and looks like there is a party going on outside the restaurant. Some people would call this touristy and I can see that, but for me it was fun. Not every place that's good has to be nondescript in PV. We were there in the "off-season" and it was busy so I can see that during the regular season there would be lines. The table roaming mariachis were great and played our table some requested songs for a modest amount. The kids and family loved the mariachis. Now while I didn't have one, I can attest that the Margaritas are HUGE. One thing I can highly recommend is the tableside handmade guacamole which is done at the table and is astoundingly fresh and delicious. The guy who did this was very friendly and had it made very quickly. We ate here twice and everyone loved it. I had the beef Chimichanga and I could only eat half because it was so enormous. The taste of the Chimi was vibrant and fresh. I also tasted the combo fajitas and I would also recommend these as well. The wife had a lobster combo plate which she said was Amazing. The meat quality was mediocre, but it was accompanied by a healthy portion of veges (onions, bell peppers and mushrooms). We also ordered a blended strawberry margarita and a Cadillac margarita. Both were extremely strong, hitting us within 8-10 sips. Thank goodness for togo cups ;). Very attentive service without the overbearing feeling. Total price was ~$30. Worth it? We went here twice on our recent trip to Puerto Vallarta. The food was yummy and prices were fair. They also have Air Conditioning (from AK here so this is a huge plus) and a Mariachi Band. Most of the dishes you will recognize from your home town Mexican food joint, so if you are looking for something more exotic I wouldn't look here. Table side guacamole is tasty and the margaritas were huge but not watered down. We went as a group of 18 and they were able to seat us no problem and the service was excellent. read more
