Arrived for sister's bday. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were the only ones outside and enjoyed the ambiance, heating lamps and food with my pup on the side.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was good, food was good - my pup's food was a little slow to come but once it did, he swallowed it down - so must've been good!! We also was also to bring our own wine, corkage was $25 (i think or $35). Enjoyed it. Will return.

I came here with a few of my coworkers for dinner last night and had a great time. My coworker made a reservation ahead of time on OpenTable for a party of 4 the same week. The restaurant is located near Bernal Heights and I drove up a lot of hills before we arrived. I did find street parking right next to the restaurant. We were immediately seated when we arrived and ordered some pisco sours and it was very tasty. We also got a mixed ceviche to share and it was a bit sour to my liking. I also wasn't a fan of the nuts in the dish. I ordered the paella since it was recommended by the server. I didn't like the flavor of the dish because it tasted like sewer water. I wouldn't get this dish again. Cool restaurant with a great vibe overall but wouldn't come back since I'm not a huge fan of Peruvian food.

It's been over 3 months since I visited Piqueo's but I still remember the Seco de Cordero like it was yesterday. First bite of the meltingly tender lamb shank with creamy lima beans, earthy cuzqueña sauce and rice was sublime. I had to contain my inner Mark Wiens of "OH WOW" with his animated, cray cray eyes. It was hearty, comforting, and damn delicious. Great rec from our server! Been sleeping on Piqueo's all these years until I was looking for something in the city with outdoor seating and "easier" parking. Piqueo's fit the bill. They're open for takeout, delivery, indoor dining, and outdoor dining (dog-friendly). Rezzies made on Opentable and we were promptly seated upon arrival. M E N U Peruvian cuisine with full bar. Like their sister restos (La Costanera, Mochica, Sanguchon, etc), steep pricing and I find it odd that there's different pricing for takeout versus dine-in. F O O D * Ahi Tuna Tartare w/ nikkei sauce, lime, avocado, andean chips, tiradito sauce ($25): https://tinyurl.com/5dkzyfwy Although pricey for a casual neighborhood resto, the tartare was solid with fresh chunks of ahi tuna and ripen, buttery avocado, and tender choclo (peruvian corn). The Andean potato chips were thin and crunchy yet sturdy enough for scooping. Beware: They do NOT pit the olives and my friend bit into one. =T * Seco de Cordero: Lamb shank, lima beans, cuzqueña sauce, jasmine rice ($29): https://tinyurl.com/3dpyn9kf Everything about this dish was YAS! The meaty lamb shank was fall-off-the-bone, meltingly tender. The lamb effortlessly flaked off with a fork so no knife was needed. The stewed lima beans were creamy with bite. And, the cuzqueña sauce made with spinach and beer complemented the lamb with a bit of earthy sweetness. The fresh sharpness of the red onions tied everything together, cutting through all the meaty richness. Pair that with properly cooked rice for satisfyingly delicious meal. * Lomo Saltado: Stir-fried beef tenderloin w/ onions, tomatoes, gluten-free soy sauce, fries ($29): https://tinyurl.com/2s37jcs9 ***Add $3 egg *** Requested medium rare Lomo Saltado, a Chifa (Chinese-Peruvian) dish is something I usually order when visiting a Peruvian resto. The lomo was underwhelming - the beef tenderloin was overdone and tough. While the sauce had a good balance of salt and tang, it couldn't salvage the beef. The best parts were crispy McD-like fries and the onions+tomatoes that had wok hei. S E R V I C E Our server was hospitable - friendly, warm, and gracious. We had early rezzies so food service was prompt. A M B I A N C E Casual and cozy neighborhood spot. Props to whoever built the parklet! We visited on one of the windiest and coldest days where my dog could have easily flown down the street. The sturdy panels didn't shake and shielded us from the strong winds. P A R K I N G Metered and residential parking. Compared to other parts of the city, I rarely have issues before 6 pm. Overall, with too many options in the city, I rarely visit a restaurant twice unless it's cheap and/or for convenience but the Seco de Cordero will def get me through Piqueo's doors again!

My date and I celebrated Valentine' Day a couple of days early. We started off with the pastelito de choclo aka "corn cake." I kind of expected a bit more corn, as it was mostly mashed potatoes and cheese, but I really liked the accompanying sauces and the panko crust. My meal was the lomo saltado. The meat was marinated nicely with some pieces even served on the medium side. The part of my meal that I didn't really like were the onions. Thy were pretty raw and overpowered the flavors of the dish. As far as my date's meal, he wasn't too impressed with his chancho adobado (or pork shoulder). He said it was relatively bland in flavor. Overall, it was an "OK" experience. Some hits and a some misses.

Fish chunks in the ceviche were way too large and were difficult to enjoy. Also tough to scoop up. Chicken empanada was different than what I expected -- it had powder sugar sprinkled on top and not the usual crust I'm use to for an empanada. Sangria was easy to drink but tasted more like juice than sangria. Overall, food seemed fresh but didn't hit the point for me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was great and the outdoor seating was nice on a sunny day in Bernal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I never had Peruvian food before, but now I'm intrigued. We had an appointment down the hill and decided to get lunch beforehand. I went through Yelp and was actually going to go somewhere else and then we ended up in the Bernal Heights neighborhood. We thought this was cute and we should check it out. We crossed the street and decided to settle here. Piqueo's is such a charming small place with indoor and outdoor seating. Since SF has fickle weather, we decided to go indoors but next to the window. I will admit the patio seating has a cute set up too! We started with cocktails - I ordered off of the Sangria menu and my husband ordered a Cusquena (lager). We shared two plates. Note: We would have ate more, but we were a bit nervous. We went with the Costelita de Chancho (pork spareribs/coleslaw) and the Chicken Chicharrones - both were good picks but we liked the spareribs a little bit more. Good blend of spices where compliment each other and the meat. Service was great. I know it's a small restaurant, but it did feel like the personal touch was geared towards us. I hope to come back here again when I'm in the area. What a great find!

We came here for weekend lunch and it was pretty quiet. They have indoor seating as well as a cute street-side patio area. They serve a Peruvian menu of small plates and larger dishes, cocktails, and drinks. We had the Ensalada Nuevo Andino salad, which for better or worse, was my favorite dish of the meal. The salad was very fresh, with a good amount of toppings that complimented each other well. I loved the ginormous corn kernals as well as the nuts. Not sure what kind of nuts they were... they were shaped like pine nuts, but darker brown and crunchier like what a squirrel might be after. Empanadas- this had a very fresh, crisp pastry crust, and presented kind of like a gigantic pop tart. We had the corn one (also have chicken or mushroom). I wasn't really expecting it to be filled with curry sauce, but it was very flavorful. Between the flaky pastry crust and the curry, it's definitely a knife and fork situation, not an empanada you can walk around the park with. Pastelito de Choclo- this was described as a Peruvian corn cake with cheese and potato, but was not really what either of us expected. I generally anticipate a corn cake to be firmer and denser. This almost tasted like mac and cheese wrapped in a very thin masa-based crust. The herbs/garnishing on top went really well with the dish, and I wish there had been more of that. Flavorful, lovely dish, just not what we expected Mac & Cheese- got this for my kiddos, and they enjoyed this gourmet very cheesy, borderline soup-ey, dish. From the entrees menu, we only had the Aji de Gallino. This was essentially a rice dish with chicken and onions in a yellow curry. Could've used more vegetables in the curry, but otherwise was a flavorful dish. Overall cute little spot in Bernal Heights, nice place for some tapas and drinks.

Came here for a business dinner last week and was oh so pleasantly surprised. The interior is cozy and modern. The staff is so friendly and sweet. We had the absolute best service and the food was packed with flavor and fantastic. Unique selection of drinks (lots, if not all cocktails, have sake). I had the hibiscus spritzer and it was the perfect spring cocktail. We sampled so many delicious tapas, paella, among many other dishes. Everything was perfect and great for a large group. The restaurant is very small so a group of 12-13 took up almost the entire front portion of the restaurant. Everything was so authentic- I can't recommend enough! We will be back when in town.

Looking for tapas? Near Bernal Heights? Piqueo's is your spot. They have an awesome Peruvian tapas menu. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Indoor seating has a nice cozy atmosphere and the outdoor parklet seating is also nice. Highly recommended making reservations. They get pretty busy. Now let's talk about the grub. Honestly everything I've had here has been totally on point from the cebiche mixture to the lomo saltado. Tonight we started with the camarones crocantes, which is quinoa crusted golf jumbo prawns. Great taste and prepared very well. Crispy yet tender inside. Served on a very tasty sweet potato puree. Next was the house empanada. Fairly large empanada but turned out great. Light crust and savory and tasty chicken filling. When I was in Lima a few tears ago, I experienced chaufa for the first time. Blew my mind combining Chinese and Peruvian styles cooking. So Piqueo's chaufa pork had me reminiscing of a great trip. Crispy and tender pork belly folded into Chinese inspired fried rice with a Peruvian spin. So dam good. Save a bit of room for the alfajores with dulce de leche

Went for dinner right around 5 PM. The outdoor sitting area is well decorated. However, it was super windy today. Kinda chilly too. Glad they had heaters. I ordered two tapas as suggested by the waiter. The salmon in the ceviche was super fresh. The side dishes were very interesting. It was my first time tasting giant corn too. Haha. That paired with chips. 100/100. Definitely a recommend. The short ribs was very tender. The sauce was kinda tomatoey. But I was amazed by the yucca fries. They were amazing! This is a recommend too (primarily for the fries). Would love to go back and try other dishes.

    Tapas Here!

Everything here was delicious with a unique flavor. We had 10 tapas and each tapa was shared with 4 people. All is listed in the photos. We sat in the outdoor area which was comfortable under the heaters. This was a great quiet place to enjoy your food with loud music or people yelling as they do after getting a few drinks down. The service was great and every dish came hot right out of the kitchen. The highlight for me was the baked (not fried) mushroom and corn empanadas. Service was outstanding, all the food was timed perfectly. We ordered three dishes at a time to make sure we had time to relax between courses. I suggest that as a good strategy. Will definitely be back to tasty the other third of the menu as we did serious damage to the first 2/3! 5 stars

This time we were a party of 4 and were celebrating a birthday which they acknowledged and thoughtfully wished happy birthday to our celebrated guest. This time I ordered the ceviche limeño, which was a mix of shrimp, white fish, octopus and calamari served with crunchy corn, soft corn and sweet potato marinated in a delicious sauce with a hint of spice (the base tasted similar to leche de Tigre) Other guests in my party ordered the whole roasted cauliflower with eggplant puree, and the rice with shrimp. Both were delicious. I tried two new alcohol-free drinks: guayaba healer (guava, lime and tajin) and the red October. Both were tasty, however for non alcoholic drinks $12 is a little steep, particularly for the red October which is served in a fluted cup and has a lot less volume than the other non-alcoholic drinks. We ordered two desserts, both were excellent: the suspiro loco with cotton candy and Dulce de leche, strawberries and crumbled graham cracker-like cookies, was crazy and fun, yet well balanced. The second dessert was the tapioca tropical, which is a tapioca pudding with toasted coconut, raspberry and ice cream, which was not too sweet and quite delicious. We got a complimentary coconut tres leches for the birthday guest, which was also delectable. As for the service, it was definitely improved compared to last time, yet not seamless. We were sitting inside this time and had a bigger party. Our waitress was very friendly, however one of the items we ordered never arrived and I had to point it out to them when the check arrived. She apologized and they took it off right away. One of the hosts came to check in on us a couple of times throughout the meal which was much appreciated. Our water glasses were kept full, however it still seems they are understaffed. If I could give half stars they would get 3 1/2 but since the food has been consistently good I guess 4 starts will do for now.

There is a nice selection off the main menu for Happy Hour 4-6pm. Providing an opportunity to sample one or more of the menu items as an appetizer. I chose the mussels with garlic bread, as good ones are not found easily. The portion was quite ample, and the sauce I dipped my nice crunchy garlic bread in was very flavorful, warm and delicious. I also tried the plantains which were cooked perfectly; not too mushy with a perfect char, and the sweet onions on top were also tasty. Paired with a very tangy dipping sauce. All the flavors came together well. My husband ordered the Cantina burger which he enjoyed down to the last bite. Our daughter also sampled off the smaller menu with Lomo Empanadas and the Chicharron de Pollo which she reported were both very nicely prepared. Will, our server gave us excellent recommendations which we availed ourselves of. The bill for 4 items plus the burger, a side of rice, and a ginger beer came to just under seventy dollars, which was a reasonable price. I would definitely give the food five stars, and the restaurant four as it's a long and lengthy bar with a few tables for two. The majority of the seating is in the back with two flat screens and an open kitchen. I can imagine how loud this place can get. We went at the perfect time: not a lot of customers so we received excellent individualized service from Will. I would hope to be able to return next time we visit GG Park and sample some more menu items like the Peruvian Paella which sounded very promising.
