I went into get a smog check done on my car. They said that because of illegal parts it won't pass. I ask which ones are, they said "air intake, throttle body, and headers" explained they don't have carb numbers on them so they are illegal". I explained I found the carb numbers for 2 parts but couldn't find one for intake from the site I bought them from. I said I would get the intake replaced, and come back. He said I needed to talk to a smog referee about the parts, because since they don't have the numbers on the parts, that he sees that as illegal and won't take them without referee approval so I went home. I talked to the parts manufacturer, and they explained the numbers do not have to be on the part, that if you have numbers you can give it to the shop and they can look it up or you can have stickers put somewhere in the engine compartment and let them know where they are. And went on to explain that a lot of companies do not put welded carb numbers on the part because when the license is renewed they can be issued a new carb id, and if the part has the old ID it can cause a shop to see it as illegal unless they go digging for old ID numbers of the part. So I'm getting my intake replaced since I can't find carb id for it. And I have got stickers from the part manufacturer to apply to the car for headers and throttle body. And I'm going to go different shop to avoid any issues again with them. They didn't charge me since they didn't actually run the test, and they gave me the info for the referee to have the parts looked at, so I Give them that. But the fact they I couldn't comeback without checking with a referee on the headers and throttle body was odd, since I found the Carb numbers on a website and could give it to them to look up themselves. So It's hard to tell if they were being cautious or just being rude and not willing to look up the IDs for those parts. 3 out of 5 read more

I guess things change over the years. Made 2 attempts to take my car in for repairs and smog check. First time I wasn't greeted when I walked in, so I stood around awkwardly for a few minutes while the guy at the desk just ignored me. When he did acknowledge me, I began to explain my problems, where he proceeded to cut me off and said I needed to drive my car around for a little bit longer. I figured he's right, the battery died and the car's computer was reset. I attributed his rudeness and demeanor to just a bad day. A couple of days later, same thing. Got to the shop, this time however I made sure to say good morning when I walked in. I was still ignored. When he finally did talk to me, I explained to him that I was there just a few days ago, followed his instructions regarding driving the car, and needed them to check the CEL, repair, and then do smog check. He then tells me he's too busy today. I asked if I could leave the car with them that night so they could work on it the next time they open. He said no, come back tomorrow and slip the keys in the garage with a note and we'll see if we can get to it. So I was a confused. I couldn't leave the car with them that night, but I could drop it off the next day (when the shop was closed)? Either way, I was already upset with his condescending attitude so I just left. I still give this shop 2 stars because they have taken care of us in the past, so I know they are good mechanics. However, there is now a gatekeeper with poor customer service who, based on other reviews, seems to be rubbing everyone the wrong way. read more

I am honored to be able to give Pit Stop Auto Repair in Suisun City, CA its first Yelp review. My vehicle broke down in the Suisun City area, very far from home and far from anything familiar. The tow truck driver who picked up my car recommended Pit Stop, noting also that it is a AAA approved auto repair shop. It is tucked away at the end of a standard-looking industrial building, with only the building's plain signage indicating its presence. I walked into the front office and met Tim, who was very professional and helped me arrange for rental transportation while my car was in Pit Stop's hands. Throughout the repair process, Tim and his associate Richard were very patient and kept me informed as to the status of the repair. Man oh man what a day. Was the bf's moms bday and were driving up to sac for the day when all of a sudden we got a flat! Bf went to change the tire but low and behold theres a lug nut lock and of course we dont have the key! So we call AAA and they end up towing us to Pit Stop Autorepair. I wouldn't recommend this place. They are expensive and don't take the time to actually find the problem or listen to the customer. I took my car to get an answer of what was the problem and basically got an "I don't know" answer. Took it somewhere else and was diagnosed properly and fixed. Out of the many auto shops that dart the Suisun area, Pit Stop has been the best one I've visited thus far. We came here when the my rear left window stopped coming up. $600 for a window regulator repair ~ I don't know enough about vehicles to know if that's a good price, but it's the one we paid. A brief scan online said the average price for such a repair CAN exceed $1,000. I was pulling out of the lot and realized that my radio wasn't working when I got home, although it had been before heading to the shop. Too much of a coincidence, so we called up the shop. Initially, they didn't want to look at the vehicle (probably thought I was trying to get an extra repair for free), but agreed to take a look at it after some conversation. It turns out a shorted fuse from another faulty electrical part was the issue, and they took care of it quickly and professionally. Great customer service, great repair, will consider them for future work. read more

Our vehicle needed service for a variety of issues and was taken care of. Tim and his staff took care of us and were very prompt. Came in for a smog fail diagnostic for high idle. I told them when I got there that if the car idles for about 10-15min the idle goes down. A few hours later they called saying they checked timing and it was in norms and passed smog. So I question what was diagnosed or done or why I was charged a diagnosis fee at all when what I said was accurate and checking timing is part of smog so wth? Just happy it passed that's why I didn't rate lower. read more

If I could rate this business lower i would. I took in my Mitsubishi 3000GT for a water pump and timing belt installation. I supplied the parts because i wanted to make sure that the quality of parts going in the car was good. A few days after the repair i was driving and there was a major pinging noise coming from the engine. The car could not hit 60mph on the freeway and had lost almost all power. I took it in to a local auto shop near me to fix the problem because not only is their work not good, but their prices are very high at Pit Stop. When i took it in to my local auto shop, they said that whoever installed my timing belt either installed the tension rod wrong.... or that they had a faulty part. Considering that i did not supply them with the tension rod, it was not a faulty part unless they installed one without telling me. My local auto shop said since i didn't give them one, Pit Stop should have asked cause you always change it when you do the timing belt. These guys have no idea what they are doing and i will be spreading the work about how bad this business is. They refused to repair the damage that it caused. I suggest going anywhere else besides here. read more

I'm not going to write much because this place isn't worth it. I have been told by many people that if you want your vehicle to pass smog . . .. um, even if it does not pass . . . . this is the place to go to get a certificate. Thats why I went there last time and my beater truck was a mess with a cat. converter not even connected. Thats why I was going there again. To bad the boy can't keep an appointment. I called the day before for an appointment. I called before I left the next day asking for 15 minutes after the appointed time to get in immediately and he said his smog guy wasn't even there and was going to be 10 minutes late so 15 minutes after would be perfect. I called him half way there to verify appointment since he is 24 miles away. He said appointment still good. I called him from across the street because I could not find him since he is hidden in the middle of no where. He said no problem I'm ready for you. I get there 2 minutes early. He says(with a straight face), "Sorry, it's going to be 30 minutes I just put 2 other people in front of you". I stayed calm and reminded him I was the guy that called 3 times to verify appointment and get directions at the very end. He said "Can't do it I have 2 people in front of you". Of course we all know what 30 minutes means especially with 2 people in front of me. BTW: Don't go there for a "Pass" on your smog test. I'm going to have the right person call from my place to take care of that with a couple of different offices with the DMV. They have been doing sting type operations recently. I'm curious to hear what they have to say what they will do. That and a good Saturday morning stress venting is why I spent what I figured to be "30 minutes" on this(that took an hour if you know what I mean). At least the right people at the DMV license offices and state licensing along with the B.A.R. office will be informed. Obviously BBB if I get to it. I'm sure he will have his version of the way things happened but what I write is exactly true. When I was leaving, I yelled to a closed door from my truck to "look for me on Yelp". He came running out after me. He tried to talk me out of it. When I called him from 10 minutes away(across the street of a four lane highway) there was no mention of 2 new people I would have to wait for. However, that was his reasoning for making me wait for 2 new people - lol "30 minutes". Even if thats not a lie about the 2 people, would you do that to a customer crossing the street with an appointment thats on time per three different phone discussions of that day? You know, I even tried to compromise with him and offered to stay if I was next (after 1 out of the 2 he put in front of me). He would not even do that. I could have told him to tell the people that he made a mistake and that I had an appointment so I would be first, but it's not my place to tell him how to run his business. He thought it no big deal that he wastes my time given all of the above. I charge my clients 495 an hour(that's not 4.95). However, I was doing this for charity. Alternator went out 3 hrs from home. Had it towed to Pit Stop on tow driver's recommendation. He called ahead to see if they could work on it right away, I thought it was too good to be true - but it wasn't ! Dropped it off at 2:20 and they said they'd try and get it done in an hour and a half. They called and said it was ready at 3:50! I am soooo pleased with this shop, highly recommend!
