This is second-to-none the best deal in town. You get a really healthy and filling dinner for under $10. The owners and staff are fantastic. I'm biased since I'm a high school teacher in town and I've taught all three Hernandez brothers who own it, and most of their staff. But, I'm so proud of what the Hernandez brothers have done. This was my first Pita Pit experience and I LOVED it! What a healthy alternative to the burgers and Mexican fare at the lodges. I could have been more mindful of the calories, but I decided on chicken breast and bacon on white pita bread with veggies and ranch sauce. With a drink, the meal came out to just under $10. Good value! It was the perfect to-go sandwich that fit right in my hand. I could walk, carry my snowboard, and eat at the same time. My friends and I were ready for a late night meal (around 9:30pm) and either everything was closed or WAS closing. Yelp app "What's Open Now" feature to the rescue! Very surprised to find that it was open til 2am! It was fairly busy but not too crazy, and since they make everything to order it was worth the wait. You specify the type of meat, toppings and the wrap (Subway-like ordering setup), and the end product is like a large burrito--very delish and satisfying. They have a saying at Pita Pit - if you eat pitas, it will snow. Boy were they right! We ordered two pitas and it didn't stop snowing for two days -- does that mean one pita per snow day?? Great, cheap place in the Village where the gondola drops off if you want a snack, a light lunch or late dinner. You can make your pitas any way you want it - beef, veggie, chicken, they have it all. The veggies are varied and fresh and then there are your choices for sauces -- they even have tzatziki sauce which of course I asked to have drenched all over my feta pita. This allows for maximum creativity capacity, I have to admit my companion's hummus pita was much better than mine but hey it was my first time - I'll get better! I can't even start to explain how hungry you get after a long day of snowboarding. Especially when you accompany the boarding with a decent amount of alcohol (to keep you warm of course). After 3 intense days on the mountain, on our way out of "winter heaven " we've decided not to get our usual hamburgers and go healthy. PitaPit was the right choice. When you eat those pita's with the Falafel or suvlaki you feel that it's fresh, healthy and most important, very tasty. Driving back to LA was easier and lighter. read more

Great place to grab a meal when you take the Ganjola/Crondola back to the village. The food is healthy and refreshing and made by angry looking young people. This place takes a "dump" on subway. It's quick-serve so I usually will take the Ganjola back down from Canyon and grab a bite then go back to shralping Mammoth. Tip: Try the pita's. read more

THIS IS THE WORST PITA PIT THAT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO! I was extremely excited to see that there was a pita pit right outside my hotel "The Village" when I was visiting Mammoth. I was even more excited to see that they delivered till 2am and that you could order online. But I got excited over nothing. We place the order and waited, 30 min. later, when they are about to close they call us and till us they are no longer delivering. Idk what was so hard about walking up a flight of stairs to my hotel, but anyways, we walked down and when we got there I saw the delivery truck pull up so they were obviously still delivering. :/ Anoyed(I wanted to leave but they had already charged my card), we went inside and our food was still not made. So my boyfriend explained what we wanted which was a falafel pita with letuce, tomato, humus, and feta. VERY SIMPLE! So we wait another 15 min. and he hands us a falafel salad. I was sooo upset at that point and my boyfriend again explained what he wanted. He guy just threw the salad into a pita with no humus, I was soo pissed off. It fell apart when we tried eating it, it was cold, and not what I wanted. They also charged my credit card for delivery when they said they took it off. I had no idea this was a food chain. We were super hungry after hiking in the area so decided to dine here. The food choices are kind of like a subway but better quality ingredients and more Mediterranean style options. I ordered the spicy black bean patty over a salad bed. damn this place sucked! Its been a good year and a half since i had my hands on a yummy pita sandwich. However this location was the worst experience for my girlfriend and i. We placed a order online. they call us a nearly a hour later saying they do not have a delivery guy? since we were staying at the village we decided to go there. we went there and there was 2 employees behind the cash register and prep area. They looked so stoned it was so obvious. I asked for a falafel pita sandwich with hummus inside. during the prep. One of the workers goes in the back and starts BUMPING! crappy dubstep music. Dub step is a genre of wobble bass, hip hop beats, and pitch synths. It was so loud the speakers were clipping! I waited 10 minutes and then they come out with a falaful SALAD? in my head i was like *WTF A F***IN SANDWICH is what i want NOT A F***IN SALAD* they were so stoned and stupid they put all the stuff that was inside a salad inside a pita. and it was so gross. Quick, convenient, tasty spot. This is not authentic by any means, but it's still good. It's like the Chipotle or Subway of Mediterranean cuisine. I got the gyro wrap with grilled onions, peppers, and mushrooms. Then I added everything they had available in, such as red pepper hummus, lettuce, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, olives, cucumbers, cucumber sauce. In the end, it was the size of a small baby. I liked it from the first bite, the ingredients were evenly layered, so that I got a little bit of everything in each bite. I could only eat about 3/4 of it, it's huge! If you're not a big eater, you could definitely split it with a friend or take half home. read more

I don't think there are many both inexpensive and healthy options in Mammoth but this is one of them. We ended up coming here twice, actually. I had the chicken souvlaki and it was really good. They fill the pita with any veggies you want, similar to Subway. You can choose cheese and sauce if you want as well. It's great for lunch but maybe not enough for dinner. We conceded to buying an expensive lunch on the mountain while boarding so we decided on a cheaper dinner at Pita Pit which turned out to be an awesome choice! I got The Local (buffalo chicken) with a bunch of vegetables including grilled onions and mushrooms and ranch dressing at the recommendation of the cashier. This tasted so crazy good after a day on the slopes and didn't break my wallet. It felt good since I eating so many vegetables and the pita was also solid enough not to break while being filled with so much stuff! I grabbed a bag a jalapeno chips which really made this a tasty meal. I'm definitely coming back next season when my wallet is feeling a bit light or I'm craving mouthfuls of veggies =)! read more

5 stars for being open past midnight in Mammoth! Great spot to chow down when everything else is closed for the night. This place is awesome for a quick dinner after riding all day. Affordable, which is getting harder to find in town as Mammoth goes "upscale." I like pretty much all the wraps. The people who work here are really entertaining. That's the icing on the tasty cake for sure. The last time I was there they were playing Arcade Fire tracks off an ipod. So cool to hear instead of the ski lodge rock that dominates most spots up in Mammoth. read more

I read another review that likened this place to Subway. It is like Subway in that it has a bunch of toppings you can chose from, however that is where the similarities stop. We were pleasantly surprised by Pita Pit. The meat was fresh and cooked to order and you have many choices. White or wheat pita, different sauces and toppings including artichoke hearts, spinach and pepper jack cheese in addition to the usual toppings. I wish they had a Pita Pit in LA, closer to my house because I would come here all the time. read more

I went there twice during my trip to Mammoth. I definitely recommend if you don't have time to sit down in a restaurant or you don't want to spend to much money on food. Also, it's much better than any other type of fast food... For about $7, you can get a huge pita with as much ingredients as you want. Pita Pit is a fine and convenient choice for stocking back up on calories post-ride. It's right in the village as you get off the gondola. Throw your board or skis in the snowbank outside the front door, get in line, order your pita, and your food is made to order customized with the toppings you choose. They mostly serve grilled chicken and vegetable sandwiches, the chicken is those frozen "steak umm" thin sliced flat chicken stuff that they fry up/grill on the griddle. The chicken caesar pita is my fav, as the chicken is grilled they put a little caesar dressing on it and then put bacon on the sandwich too. Get a ton of healthy veggies in your whole wheat wrap, like spinach, green peppers, tomatoes, romaine, black olives, and then have them throw some of the tzatziki sauce in there, and you're good to go. It only costs around $7! Doing this will allow you to skip dinner and head straight to your hot tub. Avocado, hummus, and some other more substantial toppings are like $2 extra so be warned. The only thing is, the place is always packed and it does take a fair bit of time to get your sandwich. Why don't they pre-open all the damn pitas? That's what takes them so long - they have to manually open each one as it is ordered before putting the fillings in! Dumb. read more

I came in here thinking it was a Greek food cafe and found out it was more of subway'ish/Greek -esque food. The menu behind the counter was overwhelming and huge. The guy behind the counter helped me decide on how to build my wrap, with options or I can turn my wrap into a salad. I opted to turn my gyro wrap into a salad. I really liked how they have spinach as a option instead of lettuce, the rest was just like building out your sammy/salad with your typical subway selections and salad dressings. I went with a balsamic dressing and it came with tzatkiki on the side, because I ordered the gyro. Love this place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. They fill the pita' in a unique way I've never seen else were. And there are many choices for fillings. They have a number of composed pitas, or they will build you one custom. My fav is the souvlaki, but I've never had one that disappointed. So often my ski weekends are an orgy of beer and fatty foods, but at Pita Pit, I can be sure to get my veggies and fiber. The best thing is that it's across the street from the Clocktower, so we can grab a pita quick and get back the important work of drinkin' beer. Anecdote: I once literally bumped into Robert Downey Jr. at this Pita Pit a few years back. He was leaving, I was arriving, and nether of us were paying much attention to our surroundings. Healthy fresh! This place makes a great lunch spot. Easily driveable from town, or accessible from the slopes via the Village Gondola (kinda cool to slip away from the hill for lunch!) It's a unique twist on a sandwich shop in that most items are cooked on the grill, and served in a pita wrap. It's like a cross between a burrito and a sandwich. I've never been let down by the items here, and they're reasonably priced (average $7-8). Most of the time they won't fill you up, but they won't leave you walking away hungry, either. Make sure to get some veggies grilled with your meat... it's the best! Try some different combinations too, everything is good. Ugh, I dislike giving places less than 3 stars but my experience here yesterday was not good. It was extremely busy which the employees can't help but I waited 30 minutes for a salad. Once I finally got to the front of the line for my food, they didn't even have my order, it was like the ticket got lost. So then I had to wait a few more minutes. Hidden gem at the street level of the Village! We loved this place! Just came back from skiing & weren't in the mood for a complete sit down, but wanted fresh & healthy food. The pitas are very similar to healthy wraps, made fresh, customized however you want it. I had the prime rib pita with lettuce & tomato & melted cheese. As simple & convenient as Subway with much higher quality ingredients. We were eating our food literally within minutes of walking in the door. Yummy, filling, cheap, convenient location, late hours. All of these things are why I give the Pita Pit five stars. The line can be long, but don't let that deter you ...it goes relatively quick. My favorite pita is the gyro with tzaziki sauce. I love how they ask if you want your veggies grilled (yes, please!) and the workers are always friendly. It's amazing the amount of yumminess they can stuff into a pita. With all the different ingredients you can put in your individually made pita, it can give you your daily allotment of vegetables so it's a pretty healthy choice. Given the area dollar for dollar the food is a pretty descent value. After a while Pizza and Mexican start to get old so having something fresh and quick is a nice change of pace. The only issue is the decor of the place. Not sure who they are trying to market to, but perhaps a refresh is in order.
