Pitfire makes some solid LA pizza. I think this is definitley one of those places where you really have to look at what the people are complaining about here (no Hawaiian or half and half options). Is this the best pizza you will ever have? Probably not. Is it a really solid option for pizza? Yes. That being said this is a regular stop for us when we visit our friends in LA. Their pizzas have lots of fresh ingredients that you can really taste the flavors of. My personal favorite is the Honey-bear. The combo of sweet/savory/spicy is just so yummy. It is also BYOB here so if you want to bring a bottle of something, they will cork it for you (not sure if there is a fee or not). If you don't, they have solid drink options. Service is decent. You order from the counter then find a seat. A waiter will then bring you water and drink refills as needed. Servers aren't always as present as I might like, but not terrible. Overall it is a great option for some good pizza. 28/100 read more

So I live in the valley and would typically go to the North Hollywood location, however it is closed temporarily (I assume because of remodeling). I work in Culver City so I started ordering take out and going to this location on my way home. I LOVE THEIR VEGAN MARGHERITA PIZZA. I crave it constantly. It's probably my favorite vegan pizza in Los Angeles. Their Vegan mozzarella is incredible. If you're a vegan and want a good margherita pizza, this is the place to go. read more

We were so excited to eat some good pizza. Staff was super nice, the place was busy, the atmosphere and outdoor heating for the tables was great. But we ordered a margherita pizza... and honestly I'm not really sure what we got lol. The cheese was mushy and the pizza didn't look like any margherita pizza we've ever gotten, the cheese tasted different also and whatever 2 or 3 leaves were on top were toasted black lol. We asked an employee if this was correct and he said it was, we were confused but also trying to assume positive intent and give the benefit of the doubt. But honestly a Chuck E Cheese pizza is like 5x better than this lol. We didn't want to complain further but somehow one of the managers knew we weren't satisfied and did what she could to make it right, gave us a brand new pizza and complimentary cookies. The Sausage pizza was a little overcooked and the Margherita could have used a little more cheese and basil on it. The size is a little small but the flavor overall was pretty tasty. Pitfire is an artisan pizza pasta salad spot served by hipsters, and patronized by hipsters, jocks, moms, and business casual types like me...at least on a Wed. I had lunch here.. Restaurant executives would classify this as fast food because you pay for your food first, but a server brings it out to you. It's kind of clumsy when you sign your credit card bill and there's a tip line. But today, I gave the hipster a tip for his tip...er, let me explain. Even from the outside you can smell Pitfire, with it's almond wood used in making their signature gourmet pizza dishes. It looked and smelled great, but I wanted pasta since I had pizza a few days ago. So, I asked the hip dude behind the counter what their most popular dish is. And immediately, the guy says, "I have a tip for you...I hate mushrooms and don't really like chicken, but the Chicken Pasta is my favorite thing to eat here." Huh? I couldn't follow his logic. Did you smell too much almond smoke? Anyway I took his tip, and he was right. I loved this dish. The chicken pasta had mostaccioli cooked al dente, mixed with what tasted like a white wine and light cream base with onion and garlic, black pepper, fresh spinach, mushrooms, and sliced cubes of grilled chicken, Portion size was just right. The place inside looks very casual with concrete floor, and patio type furniture. They play a wide range of musical styles overhead. If you want a quiet place, this aint it. There is also a TV on ESPN. Anyway, one thing I was told was that we are supposed to get our own water. If we want to buy another soda, we can get the server to sell it to us and bring it out. Don't count on free refills with your soda. There is also beer and sangria. But I had bottled cream soda and also root beer. I don't remember the brand but it was really good. I hear they're planning to open one of these joints in Costa Mesa! Yay, I think most there people will like it. Other people eating with me had the Margherita Pizza and steak paninini. They both looked and smelled fantastic, though the dough in both seemed a little burned. But they said it tasted great. Everything is made to order, so it might take some time to get your food. I love that the kitchen is open, and you can watch them prepare your food. A friend in high school once worked for "one of the fried chicken" fast foods we all know. She told me they caught a guy who spit inside the cole slaw when he got fired for being late. Ugh...thus open kitchens are cool. One thing you may hate about this place is the lack of parking. We've had the: Grilled Steak Salad ($11) Romaine, arugula, tomato, avocado, blue cheese, walnuts- Good, nothing amazing. Margherita Pizza ($9.5) Fresh mozzarella, basil- Simple. My favorite! This place was a total dud for me. :( I love pumpkin and I got really excited when I found out about their roast pumpkin pizza. So much so that I placed an order online for next day pick up. I also got the roast pear and ricotta salad. First, the positives: -they have their own parking lot. No need to look for street parking. -quick and efficient service. I was in and out in less than 5 mins. -easy to use online ordering system. Now, the bad. This pizza didn't have any sauce. It was just brown butter and cheese with toppings. The pumpkin was actually winter squash. I guess I'm so used to japanese pumpkin (kabocha) and that's what I was expecting. The squash was so bland!! I liked the crust though. They also used too much pumpkin seed oil. There was a puddle of oil on the bottom of the pizza box! The salad was a disappointment too. On the menu, it says it's a roasted pear salad with ricotta, dates, pine nuts, and a fig and olive vinaigrette. Sounds delicious, doesn't it? It was meh. The lettuce and radicchio were nice and crispy, but that's about it. Maybe I'm just not a roasted pears kind of gal. Oh, well. It was nice to meet you, Pitfire. But we shall not meet again. That's it! I am done with the mar vista pitfire pizza in Washington Blvd. 2 out of 3 times I place an order by phone they mess up the order to the point where it had to be redone (we have allergies and are very specific when placing orders). But tonight was the last straw: I decided to place the order online to avoid any more phone order mess up but that was a big mistake. I use my American Express card to pay for the order but when I got to the restaurant, they said they never received the order -that was very strange. So I called my American Express card, phone number and the representative said that Pitfire had canceled my order. I repeat the merchant had canceled the order. I had the American Express representative on the phone and I spoke with the manager of Pitfire Pizza to explain the situation and the only thing the manager said was he didn't know what happened. He wasn't sure what happened but if I wanted to place an order now, it would be like 15 minutes to wait. Mind you by that time it was late cold extremely loud in the restaurant and I really didn't have the heart to wait for another 15 minutes. I have to say the manager's attitude was extremely disappointing. No apologies no "I will find out what happened and get back to you " nothing. Pitfire messed up again and did not even apologize for it. I am done with them. read more

Trendy... cool... pricey... bikers... crowded... fresh... fun... ok. All of these words describe Pitfire Artisan Pizza in west Culver City near Marina del Rey. The vibe is a clean trendy mix of Octoberfest seating and organic marketing. On the night we went, the parking lot and outdoor seating area was packed with bikers. Did somebody forget to send me the evite? The very patient and friendly guy at the order counter was enthusiastic in his recommendations, so, we ordered all three. The first to find our table was an order of Hand-crafted Chicken Meatballs. 3 meatballs are covered in a typical marina sauce with a sprinkling of cheese. Maybe it was the chicken and maybe it was how they're prepared. Whatever it was, the meatballs were fairly pedestrian. For drinks, we tried a Cucumber Lemonade and a Cane Sugar Cream Soda. Both were a nice change of pace from standard restaurant offerings. Olivia Z. was in the mood for pasta and the order taker said that not only was the Chicken and Mushroom Pasta his favorite item on the menu, but that "he'd eat it every day if he could." How could we not try it? The pasta was a-ok though a little light on flavor. It's not something I could eat every day. Of course, this is a pizza joint, so we went with the recommended monthly special of Merguez Sausage Spinach Feta Pizza. The lamb sausage and feta added a nice tanginess to the pizza. The pizzas are small individual size cut into quarters. Unfortunately, most of the outer edge of the crust was burnt black (see photo). We couldn't eat it. For a pizza place, the pizza was a disappointment given the elevated prices. We did enjoy the casual setting and watching the pizzas being made at the counter right next to our table. The service from the moment we arrived until leaving was friendly and natural. If the food actually was better or less expensive, I'd become a regular thanks to the service. In the interim, Pitfire Pizza is still a place I'd hit again to try a Burrata Pie or White Pie. read more

I pick up from pitfire occasionally. The pizza has grown on me. It is the best locally and the best you are going to get in LA. Sometimes there is little pizza and all crust. Depends on the day. Most of the time, if your picking up, it is luke warm even if you eat a slice in the car on the way home. So prep your oven. Staff is always super nice. If you eat in they have good beer. read more

The shaved kale salad is delicious. They deliver and usually they are within the time they agreed to deliver your food. The prices are affordable for the quality of food they serve. Green Eggs and Ham is a genius combination that could be eaten for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. 3. Farmer's Market Plate is chalk full of fresh and roasted veggies. What's with the low reviews here? I am the world's foremost pizza expert. This place was somewhere in between gourmet and hole in the wall, actually it was the perfect mix. You can't just lump pizza into one category. You must put it into at least two, gourmet and regular old pizza joints serving awesome pies. This place is a hybrid. Super cool place, lots of wood and open space, ever changing specials menu and they even have Hitachino, MMMMBOP!, thats some good Japanese import! I got a Pork Belly sandwich, it was delicious, tender, sultry and saucy. I would go out on a date with it if I didn't eat it first. Also, tried the pumpkin pizza they had that night. It was different but pretty good. BE ADVENTUROUS! Oh also had some of the Burrata Pie. Awesome! It was like a cross of some good mozz and some good ricotta, excellent. A wonderful mellow cheese. I'm kind of confused as to WHY this place got 3.5 stars. Usually, I try to steer away from anything rated under 4 stars on Yelp because why would you settle for something less than great? I'm glad, however, that my friend and I decided to settle for Pitfire because I was nothing but impressed with their food. So, the question is, how did we exactly end up eating at a 3.5 rated restaurant? My friend and i were in the West LA area, desperately looking for a place with no corkage fee. After calling about a dozen places and finding out that some places charged up to $20, we found out that Pitfire actually does NOT have a corkage fee--as in, you could bring whatever bottle you want FOR FREE! It was late, so we decided to settle. We decided to order the Burrata pizza and the Chicken & Mushroom Cavatappi pasta. Both dishes were great. Even between the two of us, we thought it was A LOT of food. It might have been even way too much food. The prices are relatively decent. I believe we paid about $24 for 2 dishes, which seems standard for pizza & pasta. The restaurant itself is very clean and simple. I liked how it was set up. It almost reminded me of a cafeteria style restaurant. I ultimately enjoyed the food and everything about the experience. Would I come back? Sure if I'm ever in the neighborhood. There's ample amount of parking, the food is great, and I could bring my own alcohol. What more can I ask for? read more

We ordered a vegan margarita and a non-vegan margarita and they both had the same cheese, which I believe was vegan. Pitfire on Washington is has been one of our go-to week night take out spots for half of a decade. Food is always good and the people are really nice. The only thing is they need to fix their online ordering system to accurately update timing estimates based on how busy the restaurant is. This is a consistent issue and I don't think it's the workers fault. Tonight (Valentine's Day) we tried to pick up pizza and they were in disaster mode, so we are not getting our dinner lol. I understand the business is probably dealing with staffing shortages right now, but curious if they can do some problem solving to help (eg, update order estimates, offer higher salaries to attract talent, etc) We used to order from Pitfire Pizza a lot more (pre pandemic), but the timing has been so bad on multiple occasions that we don't do so as often. Oh also, I would love to put in a request for Impossible Foods or Beyond Meat ground sausage! I would love to order plant based sausage more but the taste of the current vegan sausage is not for me. I'm not the biggest pizza fan but I admit I have a good time when we go to this place. It's an order at the counter type of place. Very open space with counters and booths and good energy. Moderately priced. As in, more than a delivery pizza but not expensive. And absolutely worth it. They have a great beer selection and make their pizza with high end ingredients. Last time we were here we had the burrata pie and the farmers market plate. Both were very delicious. The pies are the perfect size for two people to share and not over do it. They also, are not covered in grease, which I really appreciate. The farmers market plate had grilled radicchio, fig and goat cheese on focaccia, brussels sprouts and fingerling potatoes with a tasty sauce. On previous trips we've had the lamb sausage pie and that was delicious. Pitfire is a great place to get your casual dining on. It's reasonably priced food but still luxurious enough for a date. This Months Farmer's Market Platter is absolutely DELICIOUS. I'm a big fan of a well cooked vegetable...you roast just about any root vegetable and you have a friend in me. But Pitfire takes it to the next level with beautiful brussel sprouts caramelized just enough with an aioli that is lickable. Honey glazed roasted carrots. Sunchokes. Chickpeas in a yummy harissa, chard sauce. Oh dearie me...I never thought I would salivate over a VEGETABLE platter. But I am. And I could honestly bathe in a bowl of those brussel sprouts...and dagnabit I would not be ashamed to eat every little bit of em after doing so! Go ahead. Judge me. I'm judging me. Aside from that they have some great pizza - seasonal ones and signature pizzas with a thin base and nice chewy crust. Their salads are great too - filling and well balanced. I have yet to try their pastas or sandwiches though. You also have the ability to order online for pick up or delivery in advance - makes life so much easier. Pit Fire has great salads and pizzas. This location is my favorite. I have only been at night, but the ambiance is good for a group outing or even a date night. I've also seen several children's parties here, although I don't think this is the best place for kids. The salads are big and hearty, and you can't go wrong with the pizzas. Definitely recommend the Burrata Pizza, it comes with arugula, caramelized onions, pesto, and hazelnuts...so good! Pizzas are personal size in my opinion, so get a couple to share.
