(Tookout 09/07/2024 SA @ 6:45pm & 09/12/2024 TH @ 7:00pm): Pizzas were made for L.A.! After two separate occasions of visiting a nearby brewery, Pizza LA was on my drive path home, and pizza always sounded good after drinking. My love for pizza had no boundaries, and I always enjoyed exploring new parlors, so this was one I didn't know about until now thanks to the Yelp app. Honestly, pizza should be its own food group. With so many pizza joints in L.A., would this one be a slice above its competitors!? PURCHASE A&W Root Beer 12floz Can ($1.60): I always loved root beer with pizza, and this was the OG of root beers in my case - creamy and frothy! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=GUSoeK-j5C7pl0NBGIWJtw 6pc Traditional Wings Mango Habanero ($10.99): Purely an impulse buy, I was happy with my decision. With your choice of sauce (mango habanero in this case), each piece was meaty, moist, and drowned in the sauce. In-bone was the only option whenever you ate chicken wings! This was a finger-licking good time! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=It6byGF2cYZDn_symfXAaA 18" XL Supreme Pizza ($23.99): Cut into twelve large slices, this pie was constructed with a bounty of toppings that included green peppers, Italian sausage, mushrooms, black olives, pepperoni, red onions, and mozzarella cheese all on a chewy fluffy thickish crust. Everything tasted fresh, hot, and dammit a simple enough pizza for a relatively good price. I had this for several meals! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=ZLEvuEEFdHtcy13s5uL22A 4pc 10oz BBQ Pork Ribs & 8oz Potato Wedges Meal ($14.99): Rather meaty sizeable ribs lathered in slightly spicy tangy sauce, I loved these as the meat was succulent, fell off the bone, and again I was licking my fingers clean. The wedges were a good portion size, steaming hot, fluffy, and slightly seasoned. This was an amazing value meal with legit ribs! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=x0n2bjbmXYkM5kJCBRazqw Flan 12oz Cup ($3.99): I loved flan especially when it was warm, covered in caramel sauce, and topped with whipped cream. Sadly, none of these applied as it was served in a drink cup, chilled, and lacked in flavor. Although the price point was really nice, I was truly disappointed with the final product. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=pp5oGwgH1rF54t1jg52e-A SERVICE Immediately greeted by a friendly young man behind the counter once I entered, I easily placed my takeout order (I already knew what I wanted), waited for about fifteen minutes, and then my food was all packed and ready to go; easy-peasy - thank you! PARKING (FREE) Located within an outdoor strip mall that also included Burger King, Subway, WaBa Grill, and more, they shared a medium tight parking lot - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Basically a takeaway place with a handful of chairs to sit in while you waited for your order, the menus https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=ykXEkwJn61__SyfRAQUiiA were hung on the walls https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=heD7376xlLswuoNtRegbFw as soon as you entered, a refrigerated cooler filled with drinks https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=Ahd8VGVNmt8HB7BsG0CFAg in a corner, and a wide order counter https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=6eX0ndhB0ehoz-Nu6HF_EA that looked into the kitchen/prepping area. Decent amount of natural lighting came through the blinded windows and doors while soul-sucking fluorescent electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs while pop music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=zUjIVylkTuaUbEW5UfKJnQ ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I was pleasantly surprised by Pizza LA and would add them to my pizza routine, especially if I continued to drive home after an outing at nearby Solarc Brewing. Everything I ate was really good but at the same time nothing special; just very good food. They had some intriguing pizzas https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=eh9D_AInyDbY0Md7m3c7Jg I hoped to try on future visits. The prices were comparable, they had a Yelp check-in offer https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=HIOxf8UG8IJIVA55qucAjg as a treat, and the service was quick and straightforward. Plus, I always preferred to support small mom & pop businesses. I found total value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $59.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

    Welcome to Pizza LA. #AtWaterVillage
    Carl N.

Pizza LA is small pizza place at Atwater Village neighborhood of LA. It's located in a small plaza along San Fernando road. They only serve To-Go. I ordered a thin crust medium Margherita pizza. I was surprised that it tastes good enough to satisfy my hunger. It's best when you it eat while hot. Staff was nice and professional. Indoor atmosphere was chill but space is extremely small. Overall, I enjoyed my pizza. Muy delicioso!

    Truly a taste of heaven

This is the best pizza in the area! The hipster spots in Glendale are good but you end up paying $50 for takeout and $100 if you dine in. Thank you Pizza LA.

What do you do after spending a no break/4 hours round trip of exploring the Angeles Crest Highway? You search for a good spot to eat. I randomly took the San Fernando rd. exit turning right and found this spot in the middle of a strip mall of restaurants and neighborhood shops close to the exit. Small takeout place and thought they were a chain but was happy to hear they were local and family owned. A good amount of pizza offerings as well specials -2 slices and soda under six bucks as well whole pizza specials. I asked the friendly young man if their Calzones were good. He said they were. Alright then, Pepperoni Calzone it is! Just the right size with a great balance of sauce to cheese and pepperoni. I noticed there wasn't a side of marinara as we get on the east coast but I said to myself this must be west coast style so who am I to question? Excellent Calzone and I didn't need any Marina for dipping! I can only imagine the pizza would be just as good. For sure a local's favorite as they had good traffic around 5 pm. Will definitely come back to this gem if I'm in the area again!

Hendrix loving it! Classic Pepperoni Pizza

Classic pizza! Affordable prices. I ate sooo many pepperoni pizzas while pregnant so it only makes sense that a couple years later my son is now addicted to them too, must've loved it in the womb. 10/10.

Great neighborhood pizza spot. They have a personal pizza for $8.50 that you can have up to three toppings. The pepperoni sausage Jalapeño combo was really good. Their buffalo wings are really delicious too. Only thing is they charge extra for ranch and the wings don't even come with ranch so they need to fix that thanks bye.

So this is their pizza 5 minutes after getting it home ! Doesn't last a second in my house !

This is the best pizza I have ever had . THEY DONT MISS. I've lived around here for a year and it's not worth it to order pizza from anywhere but here! Family owned business very nice people! the pizza here is top tier.

I ordered the chicken strips with fries, while my partner ordered a two-piece chicken dinner with macaroni salad and spicy rice. Although we had to wait a little while for the food, it arrived hot. We both agreed that it was some of the best fast-food fried chicken we had ever eaten. The chicken was moist and the batter was crispy. My fries were good, and my partner's macaroni salad and spicy rice were both flavorful. We especially loved the biscuit. I also couldn't help noticing that although the dining room feels like something of a relic, it is very well maintained. There were no dirty tables and no trash on the floor. I was genuinely shocked when the cashier came out to ask how everything was and whether we needed anything else. Most fast-food chains seem determined to eliminate as much human interaction as possible. Pioneer Chicken was a refreshing reminder that fast food can still be friendly, clean and satisfying. Pioneer Chicken is a winner in my book!

If it's your first time visiting Sampa, you have to be open minded towards the concept itself. Yes, the dishes here are smaller in portion and costs more than your typical fast casual spot. All the servers here are attentive and offer to help with what to order if you're unsure. For dinner, the Crispy Pasta is their take on crispy pata but served with spinach tagliatelle. The crab fat fried rice is a no brainer and depending on the night you come, I highly recommend the Sinigang xiaolongbao special. You don't have to be Filipino to appreciate what Sampa is doing for the culture, just come by and see for yourself.

Found this place by chance and wanted to love it but now torn between a 1 and 2 star review…read more First, entering the restaurant it was dead empty except for a single diner. Decor is all black. By design to hide cheap furniture or dust I don't know but it did not elevate the space. Pretty cold welcome as well. Went to Bestia down the street the week before and everyone greets you and the energy was high, not here. To the food, I'll preface this by saying I'm Filipino so I know the flavors. First course, kare kare tamales ($26). Pretty bland, meat didn't seem like oxtail but was at least well braised. Masa was really mushy and sauce lacked peanut flavor and salt, seemed like just a lot of cream. Second course, Bicol Express Mezzelune pasta. Seemed like the same protein inside as the kare kare tamales and the pasta was really undercooked. $38 for 7 undercooked mezzelune? For that price, could have had a whole meal at Olive Garden for 4 and been more satisfied. Entrees were Crab Fried Rice ($38), Pork Pinakbet ($56) and Crispy Duck Pancit ($48). The Crab Fried Rice was the best of the night with good flavor and lots of crab. The Pinakbet was nothing like pinakbet I've had before. It was a huge pork knuckle drowned in a heavy cream sauce. There were 2 okras in it and no other veg. The Crispy Duck Pancit was overcooked (not crispy) duck breast over some kind of noodles that were like mediocre Chinese take out with a little vinegar to make it Filipino. Toward the end the waitress then asked if we wanted dessert (of which there was only one option) even way before we were done with the entrees. When we declined, she dropped the check even though we were still eating. I had such high hopes for this restaurant because I think Filipino flavors are prime for higher end dining but we got none of the punchy, bright flavors that are common in Filipino cuisine. I would say the food for the most part didn't even measure up to Waipahu or Daly City Filipino restaurants much less elevated, fine dining. This meal for 2 adults and 2 teenagers was $400. We've had better in Waipahu for $75. Boggles my mind how there are so many good reviews here. Unless you are rich and desperate for anything resembling Filipino food, I would just take a pass here. P.S. the 2 mocktails for $14 each were also underwhelming and a little weird.
