We've been waiting FOREVER for our schedules to align to be able to try Pizza Lupo man oh freakin man. That is some of the best pizza that I've probably ever had (I don't say that lightly). We tried one of the regular style pies and one of the Drunken Meatball grandma sicilian style pies Hands down best sicilian pie that I've had in outside of Nj. So light but thick at the same time. The crunch of the crust makes me drool just thinking about it. Definitely put it on your list if you haven't tried it yet! Delicious is selling it short. read more

Pizza Lupo lives up to the hype. I am typically a Driftwood Oven loyalist but was convinced to try a new place. Call early though, because they do sell out quickly. We ordered the drunk meatball and tropic thunder pies and were shocked at how large the "small" pizzas were. The vodka sauce pizza was unique and I really enjoyed the creaminess of the sauce paired with all of the fresh toppings- tons of meatballs and fresh mozzarella. The tropic thunder pizza was probably one of the better pineapple pizzas I've had in Pittsburgh, and I loved the extra spice from the jalapeños. Overall, really great thin crust pizza that pairs perfectly with your favorite beer! Also right down the street from the Butterwood Bake so you can pick up a slice of cake on your way home :) read more

After trying both styles of dough and a couple different specialty pies, there's no doubt in my mind that this place is one of the best pizza shops in Pittsburgh. While it's a little on the pricey side, the pies are sizable. You definitely get your money's worth. The dough is killer and cooked to perfection - a little crispy, and a little doughy. On top of that, the homemade meatballs melt in your mouth. The red sauce is sweet and tangy and the white sauce is deliciously garlicky. Alright, who has been hiding this amazing pizza shop from me!?! I live about five minutes up the hill from Pizza Lupo - it's a small shop with a counter that smells like pizza heaven. We ordered online on a Friday night and the receipt said 20 minutes. I got there right at the time and had to wait about 15 minutes. So just FYI (not mad at all, I'd rather the pizza be hot and ready!). We got a small margherita pizza (about six large cuts - it was perfect for two people but not if you want leftovers) and a house salad. The pizza crust was crisp, thin, and fluffy - the perfect woodfired pizza. The basil was very fresh! And the sauce flavor and texture was fantastic! I've heard great things about the vodka sauce too so I'll be trying that next time. Also probably the best salad I've ever gotten from a pizza place??? Freshly shaved parm, delicious cucumbers and fresh tomatoes, spring mix leaves. Nothing wrong with any of that! Sadly I took no photos because I was so enamored with how delicious it all was. It was just after 7:00 when I was picking up our pies and I heard her say... "Pizza Lupo, we ran out of dough" Makes sense to me. They are just getting started and the product is DOPE. Staff seems to be having a lot of fun together. High energy. Small space. Frankly I had a small element of reluctance to write this since I don't want to miss out on one of these great pizzas but they deserve to be regaled. Following appropriate safety stuff. Let's get that out of the way. Pies are very thin. Nice leopard spots on crust and they hold their shape super welll. Crust is crunchy. I like a tad more chew but this is nitpicking. Meatballs are very good. I'm sure the meatball parm follows suit. Tropic thunder was a really balanced pizza. The plain was a really nice pizza. Got for my son but I'd get for myself going forward. I am psyched to try the full menu in coming weeks assuming yinz don't make em run out of dough too soon. A great pie in Lawrenceville. Let's gooo! read more

Was excited to try this new pizza place in Lawrenceville! Ordered their vodka pie and artichoke pie on a Friday evening and said would be ready in a hour. The pizza was ready when I arrived and the store smelled delicious. I was pleasantly surprised that the small pies had 6 generous slices. These pizzas were not small at all and reasonable for the prices. The vodka pie was excellent! The tang of the sauce with fresh mozzarella and basil was absolutely perfect. Such a simple pizza, but executed flawlessly! The artichoke pie was also flavorful and unique. Their crust holds up the pizza well without being too thick or flimsy. Overall, I was very impressed with Pizza Lupo and definitely will be back! Glad to see a quality new pizza joint in the burgh. read more

This pizza reminds me of the pizza I used to eat growing up from Elizabeth, NJ. It was honestly super yummy and fresh. I ordered a cheese pizza, but I imagine that all of their speciality pizzas would be delicious as well! I called around 5 PM to place my order (small pie) and it took about an hour so if you're hungry, be sure to call in advance! Decided to try this place due to all of the great reviews and it definitely did not disappoint! Others said it could take awhile for it to be ready so we called around 445 and it ended up only taking 30 min. Pick up was easy - only two people allowed in at a time! We got the small cheese pie and small drunk meatball (definitely big enough for 2/3 people) - the cheese pie was very good i would definitely get it again the sauce and cheeses were great, the vodka sauce on the drunk meatball pizza was delicious and a very thick consistency for a sauce but what was really spectacular was the meatballs.... they had so much flavor and were cooked perfectly! One of the worst fates in life on this planet is when your favorite pizza shop closes the doors after years of faithful service. Fortunately for me, my new favorite pizza shop moved into that same location. Pizza Lupo is absolutely great. They make that pizza which offers the smallest little gems that some people don't even notice. Other pizzas I've had, that have a perfectly round symmetric shape and crust edge, never get a second chance with me. But Pizza Lupo's has that crust which pops up in places and gets a great char on the top of that crust bubble. That is heaven. The sauce is great as is the cheese and every topping they can add. Is it a couple dollars more than the cookie cutter pizzas? YES, but what you lose in the form of a couple of bucks you gain back in pure ecstasy. YOM! Wow, that was some truly delicious pizza. I tried the artichoke and drunk meatball pies, and both were amazing. I'm glad we got two and could enjoy them side by side. We all agreed that they were light on toppings (could use more meatballs or artichokes, as the names suggest), but the flavors were excellent. Please keep the artichoke on your menu! Also, my sister appreciated that there was a liner between the pizza and the cardboard box, leaving the box unsoiled and therefore recyclable. read more

My husband and I made our first visit to Pizza Lupo in Lawrenceville during the Best Bites Pizza Passport event. They were extremely busy but the staff was working efficiently to fill pickup orders, telephone orders and orders from walk-in customers. The chef recommended the Burrata pie which was delicious with a thin crust that had a chew to it, a flavorful tomato sauce that was not overly strong, a generous amount of the delicious soft cheese, and was topped with fresh basil. Even though we don't live in Lawrenceville, we will be back because pizza this good is worth the drive. read more

Not certain if everyone involved in making pizzas here is on the same page. Training is everything, Consistency is everything. We've been going ever since they opened. At first the pizza was great and I said so in a previous review. Then came the burnt basil stage, where every pizza was dressed in basil leaves and THEN baked. The leaves came out charcoal black. The next stage was well, and I do mean, well done pizza. A little char can be great on certain foods but not when it's so black that it disintegrates into powder when it's touched. And now, I don't know what to call this stage. Maybe the anything to anybody pizza. We always order mushroom and sausage. You'd think that the pizza should at least give a hint of those two ingredients. If someone ordered a Margarita pizza, it could easily be switched with a sausage and mushroom pizza and you wouldn't taste the difference. In addition to the morphing of flavor, the tomato sauce is gone. There's something red on the pizza but in very few spaces and it doesn't taste like tomato. Also the crust has turned into a stiff plank with the consistency of a saltine cracker. What happened? You opened with rave reviews and a great product. Then the experimentation stages started. Try to recall the first pizza that you ever made and go with that. I am willing to keep coming back but it has to at least possess all elements of a pizza; an edible crust, tomato sauce and cheese. Close your eyes and imagine what Italy tastes like... I've never tasted something more authentic than this pie from LUPO. Upside-down grandmas pie. Couple guys rolling dough in a small storefront. Unreal quality, superb freshness, sauce is nice and tomatoey but hits with a little heat. On fresh focaccia and that's what makes it come full circle for me.
