Came in for 1 slice. Ordered 3 more. This was before I had a few more beers and wish I bought a whole damn pizza. If you need more convincing, they accidentally gave us the wrong pizza and comped us the extra slice. Seeing some 3 star reviews here so I'll caveat this by giving more contest on my own personal pizza preferences and believe this is in my top 5 alongside Sister's pizza and Bronx to name a few.

I really wanted to love Pizza on Pearl because I remember going to their original La Jolla location years ago and thinking it was so good. Since I don't make it out to La Jolla very often anymore, I was excited to hear they opened a North Park location. The inside is really nice. It has a nice theme going on, spacious, and even has a pool table, which I wasn't expecting. It feels like a fun place to hang out with friends over pizza. They also have a variety of slices on display, so it's easy to grab something if you don't want to order a whole pie. We decided to try the AB7, which comes with pepperoni, ricotta, basil, and hot honey, along with the Verde, which has spinach, ricotta, and garlic. Ricotta is one of my favorite pizza toppings, so both of these immediately caught my attention. Service was probably the weakest part of the visit. It looked like there was only one person working the front, so I completely understood why things were moving slowly. We waited a while just to place our order. Then when our slices came out, they were served on paper plates even though we had already said our order was to go. We ended up waiting another few minutes just to get a pizza box before leaving. Unfortunately, the pizza itself just didn't live up to my expectations. The Verde was the better of the two. The ricotta added a nice creaminess and the spinach was fresh, but I honestly didn't taste much garlic. It felt more like a spinach and ricotta pizza than anything else. The AB7 was the bigger disappointment. On paper it has everything I love on a pizza. Pepperoni, ricotta, basil, and hot honey sounds like the perfect combination. For some reason though, there was a strange burnt plastic flavor that kept coming through. I couldn't figure out exactly what it was, but it made the slice hard to enjoy. I left pretty disappointed. Maybe I just caught them on an off day, but this wasn't the Pizza on Pearl that I remembered from La Jolla. The space is beautiful and I still think there's a lot of potential here. I just hope the quality becomes more consistent because I'd really love to have a great neighborhood pizza spot in North Park.

We tried Pizza on Pearl for the first time. We ordered takeout to end our night and overall it was pretty good. We ordered a large pepperoni and jalapeño pizza along with an order of garlic cheese knots. The pizza had a thin crust but it wasn't crunchy. It was cooked well and tasty. The combination of pepperoni and jalapeños was a great choice. We also had them put a little of the hot honey on our pizza. The place itself was really clean and the staff were friendly while we waited for our order. The only disappointing part was that we paid for the stuffed cheese knots but received regular knots without any cheese in them. I was really looking forward to those, so that was a bit of a letdown. Still, the pizza itself was good and we'd be willing to give them another try.

Walked into this place before a gig and was definitely feeling it at first. Empty is my vibe when I'm hungry, sometimes I'm in a rush and don't consider why it's empty. I grabbed a slice of North Park and Pepperoni.. Not gonna lie... looking at the slices in the display case.... They looked old. They looked like they needed help. I almost walked out but was starving and was in a time limit. I saw them load a fresh pizza on top of old slices... kinda strange. They took each slice to the back and warmed them up. When I sat and had a bite from each, you could definitely tell they were old. Extremely crunchy and the pan crust was really dry. The North park was okay... super dry and bready. The pepperoni was extremely greasy and was stiff. If you tried to bend it, the crust broke. So that sucked. I understand it's thin crust but it shouldn't break apart into puzzle pieces stuck to cheese. Idk. I probably would just have rather ordered a chain pizza rather than stale reheated pizza. Now I know why it was empty. $5 a slice is kind of wild for old stale pizza.

Pizza on Pearl opened its second branch about a month ago near a busy intersection of North Park where a longtime vegetarian eatery had operated. The last couple of times I was at this address, a short-lived Asian restaurant and a separate collective had each tried to do business here. Parking was not easy in this part of the neighborhood even with a nearby multi-level structure that was inaccessible during my visit because of the weekly farmer's market. I liked how the new owners opened up the suite to make it feel more spacious. They even added a pool table in the middle of the dining area which looked nice, but I think additional seating would have been more beneficial. Close to 20 different items were on display in glass cases at the service counter. A large menu board hung above the counter. It was shocking to seen entire red or white pies cost over $30 each. I understand the cost of goods plus labor have both dramatically increased, but still. I imagine that pizza by the slice was the most popular choices as there were several variations at different price points. I picked two slices and a soda (lemonade) for my order. The two pizza types were Hawaiian and North Park. The first was simply ham and pineapple which I have no problem with the latter being a topping. The second was part of a white pie that contained garlic paste. Pepperoni cups, vodka sauce, pesto sauce, and pizza sauce were the other ingredients. Both slices were triangular in shape with a crunchy thin crust. The layering of the North Park made it look prettier in presentation. It was decent pizza, but I wasn't particularly blown away by either of my two varieties. For the price and quality of the pizza, I gave Pizza on Pearl a rating between three and four stars.

We have seen this location swap out of businesses many times in the past several years and so when we saw that a pizza shop was coming, I got really excited. Firstly, they gutted the front of the store and made it way more inviting with their open doors and seating area. They even have a pool table inside! We ordered our food and they brought it out to us. We sat on the 'patio' area where they have lawn chairs overlooking 30th street which is awesome. Slices are $5. We got the BCR (Bacon Chicken Ranch), Pesto Pepperoni, Cheese, AB7 (Pepperoni, Basil, Hot Honey, Ricotta) and the North Park (which was a thicker slice) which had pepperoni, pesto, marinara, and I believe vodka sauce. Each had a perfect crisp to them and I enjoyed every single slice. Most of their slices are of the thin variety with the exception of the North Park. The crust was more crunchy and reminded me of breadsticks which was really good too. Plus the garlic knot was delicious. All in all, Pizza on Pearl is a great addition to North Park!

I just had lunch at Pizza on Pearl's new North Park location. They had just opened and I ordered a slice of the Wally and the Margarita. The Wally came with a pesto sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni cups, and drizzled with hot honey. The slice had good flavor, but the crust was bland and did not offer much texture, especially in the chew department. I was one dimensional or just crunchy. I was a little confused with the Margarita, especially since they put feta cheese on top, not the fresh (wet) mozzarella cheese or true fresh mozzarella cheese. The slice offered a decent garlic flavor and sliced tomatoes, but the feta cheese was very bland and had a dry clunky texture. In other words, it did not melt properly. This slice also suffered from the uneventful crust. I definitely have had better pizza than this, but the service provided by "Carina" was quite good. She was very welcoming, offered good conversation, and was overall very friendly. The pizza was a two star event for me, but the service pushed my rating one more star to be fair.

This place looks like a perfect place for ending your night bar hopping. It's an open space perfect for people watching. It just soft opened and has a pool table on the middle. I had the Hawaiian pizza and stuffed garlic knot and it was tasty. Staff were extremely friendly and kind. Pizza was delicious! I think the original location is in La Jolla, but this is my first time here. I would definitely come again for a quick affordable pizza slice. Note: there are some steps/part of the ground that are uneven and I tripped (thankfully did not hurt myself). The manager or owner was measuring so I'm sure it will be fixed - they should add a cone or sign.

I do love walkable pizza and now we have another spot in north park to frequent! The spot is cute with a pool table and outdoor seating to people watch on 30th. I had a cheese slice, pepperoni/hot honey/ricotta slice, and a garlic knot. The crust and base was crispy which isn't typical when it comes to pizza, but I really enjoyed it. It was a crunch I didn't know I needed in a slice of pizza. The garlic knot though! That was delightful. Will be ordering one each time I'm there. Everyone was friendly and we will for sure be back regularly.

First night open! Extremely friendly staff - just a little light with the crowd - means more pizza for me!! Very thin crust - and I'm going to assume this restaurant is related to Pizza on Pearl in La Jolla. My only complaint was my Buffalo Chicken was just drenched in sauce - the sauce was great - just too much. BCR and is also a winner - and next time I'm going for the garlic knots. Cute interior with a pool table and outside seating with lawn chairs!

10/10!!! The owner was so so nice and giving he was super helpful, offering us napkins more ranch etc. We went on a Monday evening and it wasnt too crowded, pretty chill spot to hangout with friends. Food was great and not too expensive, i forgot to take a picture of the garlic knots but it was so yummy a must try. I ordered the pizza of the month, they are very generous with their ranch which i loooove!!! Pizza was nice and warm. Not too greasy, not too salty, nice balance

Beers, vibes & waiting on food.

The atmosphere is amazing! The location is prime time! The staff was AMAZING - they even played a song request that we asked for!!! Shout out to Andrea for the great customer service, vibes, and being such a nice person!!!! Best spot to stop by when in North Park :)

Example of some of the slices they offer.

I am always looking for good pizza place and this is good. You can get thin or thick crust. Looks like they are still getting setup. You can sit outside or inside and people watch, lol.

The first impression was made in the parking lot. The attendant was really friendly and I think we got lucky, because we got one of the last spots. So far so good. The second impression was also made in the parking lot. It smells amazing! Moving inside, the first thing you see is a decent sized Italian Market with a lot of products and to go items. We looked around after dining and there are a lot of things you can't find in your typical grocery store. Our party of four was seated quickly and we were greeted by Lisa almost immediately. She was fast, friendly, attentive, and always nearby when needed. The dining room has a lot of character. And if you like Chianti bottles, you're in for a treat. Originally, we were thinking pizza, but ultimately, we each ordered our own entrees. Our group tried the ravioli, the meatball sandwich, the Shrimp Filippi, and I had the lasagna. I've been disappointed by lasagna at other places. Sometimes the portion is underwhelming, or it's cold in the middle. That is not the case at Filippi's! My portion was huge, piping hot, and delicious. I ate every bite. Did I mention how quickly our food arrived at the table. It was scary fast considering how good the food is. Also, they have the best garlic bread, so splurge and get some. Filippi's has been around for a long time for good reason. It's the next best thing to homemade. Thanks for a great meal! The wait time was reasonable and it wasn't too crazy after 8 PM. They don't have very much parking in the lot but we got lucky and found a spot near the back. The hostess and servers were all very pleasant and accommodating. The food was served promptly which was appreciated since we didn't have lunch at the convention. My son ordered the eggplant parmigiana dinner which came with a side of cheese ravioli. He had nothing but positive things to say about it. My wife and I split a sausage and mushroom pizza. It came out piping hot with a nice thick layer of gooey cheese. Just the way I like it. It was very good but not quite as good as I remembered. Still, I consider it a very good pizza. Just not mind blowing. Filippi's has been around for a very long time and a trip to San Diego is never complete without a stop here. If you've never been, you have to try it at least once.

Next, we got a glass of prosecco. I told the waiter that I only like wine that tastes much more sweet then bitter or strong and he made a perfect suggestion along with giving us a sampler of 3 different wines which was so generous. I got to try them all and pick the one I liked the most, but even the samples were a generous size. For main course I got one of the current options for the cheese wheel pasta they make in front of you in cacio e pepe and my husband got the formaggi pizza with truffle mushrooms. My husband absolutely loved his pizza and the crust was one of the best he's ever had. My pasta was fresh and had a ton of sauce and cream so they didn't skimp at all. I could tell easily that they use very high quality Parmesan because i'm a Parmesan connoisseur and could taste how potent it was. They let me have as much extra as I wanted on without limiting since I enjoy a lot on it which was also a plus in my book. Next time I would get a pasta that's a little lighter, because it was a more heavy dish and it tends to make me feel pretty full after which is totally a me thing, but they have so much on the menu to try that I'm sure I'll love whatever I get even more next time. Lastly, dessert. We got a regular tiramisu and it was absolutely amazing. They put a ton of cream which is exactly what I look for. It wasn't too espresso or cocoa strong and had a perfect ratio. The cream was so light and fluffy that we had to get another one to bring home and eat tomorrow night! I had seen a previous review on here about someone not liking the tiramisu here and it not meeting their expectations for a more upscale Italian place but I've been to quite a few authentic Italian gems and this one had tiramisu up there so I'd have to disagree and completely recommend! The service was impeccable. Every waiter was kind and prompt, constantly making sure we were taken care of and getting what we needed. The atmosphere was also a plus for us because we have a 1 year old baby and there was enough room where we weren't too cramped or crowded in, and it wasn't too loud or overstimulating. The place was very clean and taken care of as well as the bathrooms. All in all, I loved this place and I will be coming back. I would definitely recommend Monello for a nice little date night, and don't forget the tiramisu.

The whole hostess staff had great smiles on their faces and they were very welcoming. After about two minutes of sitting down, our server came to ask us if we needed time to look over the menu. We said yes but that we wanted a Foccacia Bread table starter. She smiled and immediately went to put the order in. A few few minutes later she came back and we ordered our drinks for dinner: Raspberry Italian Soda, Orange Crush with Fresh Cream on top, and a non-alcoholic spritz. After we got our drinks and sip on them, it took us a bit of time to decide what we wanted. We all know that the burger here is fantastic! However, this evening, we decided to try new things. We ordered: Pappardelle Bolognese with Added Meatballs, Pappardelle Bolognese as it is normally prepared, and a Caesar salad with shrimp added. The staff was friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the meal, which made the experience more enjoyable. Unfortunately, great service can only make up so much when the food doesn't deliver. While I appreciated the hospitality, I don't see myself returning for the cuisine.
