Our Famous Hand-Breaded Onion Rings
Litha M.

Staff was great. Made us feel like family when ordering. [[HIGHLIGHT]]To note: it's a drive-in style restaurant but we thought there was seating inside. There's not.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So we ordered at the counter, since we were inside, and took it to the car to eat. Order the pizza. Zero complaints. A great pizza. Side salad was simple but what I was looking for. Skip the onion rings. We ate a couple and tossed the rest. They are hand battered but the batter had zero flavor. It tasted like flour and cornmeal and that's it. Really missing seasoning. Maybe it was just not my style. Idk. Ketchup couldn't save them. But. That's just my opinion.

Recently spent some time in Knoxville, TN and found out they had a 'pizza drive-in' called Pizza Palace! I've never been to a drive-in pizza place, so had to give it a try. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The food itself is average, but the experience was really cool.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Like a typical drive-in (like Sonic), you find a parking spot, check out the menu and press the button to order.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Like a movie, the speakers are very old, making it very hard to hear the person taking your order, but we managed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Unlike most places, Pizza Palace only takes cash, so when they bring the order to your car, you pay at that point. Overall service was fast and friendly. Food was hot and fresh. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Again not the best pizza or wings, but experience definitely makes this place worth a visit![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Pic of salad after I picked out the olives, radish, and hot peppers. They definitely did not use grilled chicken.

I order their salad with grilled chicken. It came with lunch meat not grilled chicken. Really deceptive. Also had a huge radish and hot peppers and green olives. All of which were not in the description and I don't like any of those so I had to pick them out. Was also supposed to have feta cheese on top and if it was there, I couldn't find it. Incredibly disappointing especially not having grilled chicken and getting sliced lunch meat chicken instead.

I was finally able to stop at Pizza Palace. I have been looking forward to trying this place for quite some time. I love nostalgic local places like this. I have to say that the wait was worth it. One thing to note, they only take cash, but they have an ATM of sorts if you forget. Just order first, then go inside to pay or you can order inside. I got pizza and onion rings. I really wanted the onion rings. A half order is huge. They were phenomenal! Probably in my top 3 that I've had. The pizza was really good and worth going just for that, but get the onion rings too. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I wish I lived closer, but probably best for my health. If you are in Knoxville, don't hesitate to check out the Pizza Palace and get the onion rings to go with whatever else you want.

Small super from Pizza Palace, Knoxville

To each their own and today, my own was a stop at this drive-up pizza and spaghetti joint. I did manage to fit my Sprinter van into the spot though it was a tight fit. After hitting the button and placing my order, it only took about 12 minutes for my order to be prepared and brought out to me. A very nice lady with a big smile handed it over, made change, and I was on my way. I opted not to eat in the van, taking it with me for about 15 minutes down the highway to a rest area. The spaghetti with meatballs was a big portion. Hearty sauce and al dente noodles, I managed to eat the whole thing without spilling one drop on my shirt. That's a plus. The small "super" pizza was also delicious though a bit underdone for my taste. Doughy crust, lots of toppings (pepperoni, onions, peppers, sausage and more), it was nicely sliced. As I'd just finished the pasta, I only had one slice with dinner and the rest for lunch the next day. The veggies were quite crunchy and not cooked much. If that's how you like your onions and peppers, you'll love it. I'm glad I was able to hit up this spot. Good stuff. [Review 19566 overall - 390 in Tennessee - 537 of 2023.]

This was the first time we have been to Pizza Palace. Many people have recommended to try this place out. I decided to call ahead and then pick it up since it's about 25 mins from my house. The staff were very kind and respectful on the phone and in person. They had big smiles and that made it feel very welcoming since it's not in the best part of town. It has a cool drive in feel for sure. I could only imagine how cool this place was during it's prime. Now to the food. We did not need a full order of the onion rings, half would have been plenty for sure. They were very fresh and hot when I picked up the food, you can tell they are made in house. The flavor was decent but could maybe use a little more seasoning, just my opinion. I would probably try them again. The pizza was great, I mean if you like thinner crust pizza with great flavor this is your spot. There is a lot of cheese on the pizza so you will have some grease. The flavor was outstanding and I for sure will be ordering it again. The child's meat sauce spaghetti was well for sure the star item, I would have never imagined the sauce was going to have the flavor it did. Amazing and we will for sure be trying more of their bone pizza options too. Price: it's not cheap but I wouldn't say it was real expensive either. I recommend giving them a try.

On several visits, we have specifically requested that our garlic cheese bread and salad arrive before the pizza so we can actually enjoy the appetizer and salad course first. Tonight, we again had a very clear conversation about this request, yet everything arrived in the exact opposite order. What was most frustrating was being told that "the pizza comes out when the pizza comes out," as though there is no ability for the front staff and kitchen to coordinate timing. In an open-concept restaurant where the order staff and kitchen are working side by side, it seems like simple communication could easily solve this issue. We truly enjoy the food and want this restaurant to succeed, but proper pacing of a meal is part of good dining service. Appetizers and salads should enhance the experience -- not arrive simultaneously with or after the main course. We hope management will take this constructively because the food deserves service that matches its quality

The order was ready extremely quickly and we dived in - everything was hot and fresh. Kids liked the huge slices of pizza - thin crust. The cheese sticks were amazing - big and fluffy - only about 6-7 in an order but would highly recommend. Pizza was delicious - pesto base with chicken, arugula, feta. We ordered the medium and the pizza was filling. A great stop if you have kids or are craving pizza - lots of different speciality pizzas or you can build your own.

Overall this is a great pizza option and I will go back any time we're back in town.

Booths weren't comfortable. We ordered the garlic knots. They were really good. I ordered the two slices of cheese pizza. I wanted to get pepperoni but hearing the put toppings on already cooked cheese pizza.. not worth the price for subpar way to get pepperoni slices. There isn't enough time for the pepperoni to cook and yield it's flavor to the slices. Two cheese slices 5.49. Two topping slices 9.89. Almost double the price. Make that make sense. My spouse decided on the calzone because at least it was made fresh. It was pretty large and filled out the plate. Calzones were 10.99. The flavors and food was not that good to justify the prices. I get that it is a chain restaurant but the slices were what I would expect from a local gas station or grocery store. They definitely weren't nyc style in terms of flavor and uneven thick cheese. The cheese is clearly a blend of varieties. I don't think we will be back for the food. Neither options were hit out the park delicious and it's pricy for the actual value.

The space is cozy with about 4, 4-tops, a few outdoor tables, and a bar along the wall with stools in case you come in for a slice and soda deal at lunch time. We ordered breadsticks, a salad, a thin crust with pepperoni, and a stuffed pizza with sausage. They told us that we couldn't order the thin crust with half no cheese (for our lactose intolerant kiddo who still loves sauce, crust and toppings), as a heads up to anyone with similar dietary restrictions. This is due to the cook time being inconsistent for the cheese versus no cheese sides of the pie. We were asked if we were dining in or ordering to go. We opted to eat there since we live a decent distance away. Our breadsticks and house salad came out first, packed for transport and no plates or silverware were provided. They seemed confused and a bit annoyed when we asked for some. The breadsticks tasted like butter and parm doused funnel cake fries and the salad was fine...served its purpose but nothing special. Our thin crust came out next and was fresh and fabulous. My husband felt like it was a bit more overcooked than when we previously got it. Tons of cheese, slightly sweet sauce and crispy pepperoni. It is cut into squares. Lastly, our stuffed pizza came out. Again, no pie server given and we needed one desperately for the thick and gooey pizza. We waited awhile to get our requested pie utensil and then struggled to cut the pieces with our thin plasticware. The pizza was extremely fresh and tasty, however! If you are wondering what the difference is between the deep dish and stuffed, the stuffed is almost like a pizza sandwich. One pizza crust on bottom, toppings, and then another thin crust on top of those before spreading a thin layer of sauce. The crust is thicker than on a deep dish, too. I am sure that we will get pizza here again at some point, but never ever will we dine in. The trash was overflowing, every table wobbly and in need of cleaning, and unfortunately very uninviting service. They seemed quite miserable.
