Second time coming to Pizzando in downtown Healdsburg. Three stars is taking in to account we visited about four months ago and had a really good margherita pizza and some Brussels sprouts that were just okay. Fast forward to today and it is apparent something changed in the way the pizza was made, maybe a new cook... but the tomato sauce this time around was just okay, not very flavorful as we experienced the last time. We are always in search for that perfect wood fired pizza and after our visit today are going to have to keep searching. We did also order the Burrata appetizer that came with bruschetta and greens with crostini, that was delicious and the best part of our meal. read more

I remember this place being a lot better about 3 years ago. We recently visited today for lunch and it was just ok. Not terribly busy, but a somewhat young hostess (had to be in HS) appeared to be distracted in thought and didn't even know we were just standing waiting to be addressed. Once she noticed us, we were quickly seated and offered water. Our server arrived shortly thereafter and took our drink order, which seemed to take an usual amount of time to return with. Drinks were ok, as both my sister and I ordered house special drinks which seemed overly sweet and kinda lacking alcohol. The salad was good as well as the Brussel sprouts. We ordered 3 pizza's, which 2 of 3(Margarita, Spicy Coppa and Sausage and Broccolini) were very good. The sausage, garlic and broccolini pizza seemed to lack a salty component, my guess was the sausage was not seasoned enough, but we still enjoyed it. We were never followed up with to ask if the food was good or if we needing anything else. We were offered a dessert which we declined and paid our bill and I tipped 15%. Service needs a little work, and drink times could have been better and had a follow up was done, another drink order would have been placed. Lost sales. May revisit again. read more

So, I kind of understand the mixed reviews on Yelp. I think objectively, the food is good. The service leaves something to be desired. The young man who served us was... distracted? And didn't always follow through on requests for water. And service was slow. I also felt like the ambiance here is lacking. The dining area is cramped - the bathrooms are small and very dirty. And overall it gave me more of a deli vibe than a pizza and wine place. Our pizza was delicious though. Well cooked, tasty. My friend and I each had a lovely glass of wine, too. I felt their wine list was well put together (one would hope, given that it's in Healdsburg). I'm not sure that I'd return if I come back to the area. Too many great options nearby. read more

Wonderful pizza place on the square offering 12" pizzas and sides. We ordered the Brussel sprouts and burrata as starters and they were very good. The pepperoni and Margherita pizzas were hits with the kids. But the highlight of the evening was the mushroom, bacon, truffle oil pizza which we ordered with a gluten free crust that was light and crispy. It had garlic cream and ricotta added to the cheese topping and was unique and excellent! Highly recommend! read more

This review is for room service at Hotel Healdsburg. It was SO convenient being able to dial the restaurant from your room and get it delivered to your door. The pizza was delicious. We got the Margherita Pizza and the Sweet & Spicy Pizza. Both delicious. You can just charge the food to your room and pay at checkout. The service was great and the food arrived quicker than expected. We liked it so much we ordered PizZando again on our last night. Highly recommended after a busy day around Healdsburg to be able to enjoy and relax in your room. read more

I am giving this place a 1 star because the customer service is awful. Last night, July 4, I waited in line for 45 minutes to put my name on a list for a table. When it was my turn to give the server/host my name he said they aren't seating anymore and I could only get pizza to go. So I ordered two pies, and waited again. I ordered two glasses of wine for me and my friend and paid for my order. After waiting close to an hour, growing increasingly frustrated because they were sitting new guests at tables, I asked why my pizzas were taking so long. I learned that my order was never submitted and the guy who took my order tried to hide his mistake and said it was on its way, I asked what happened and he said nothing it's on its way, they are working on it now. I said you just put it in, I heard you tell them. My sons were so hungry and we were all annoyed that not only were we singled out and not allowed to sit at a table but he never put our order in and took no responsibility for the error. Needless to say, after waiting nearly two hours for nothing, I told him to cancel my order and refund my credit card. He charged me for my two glasses of wine and said "it's done, bye". He didn't apologize, didn't try to make things right by comping wine, he only said, "I had to change you for the wine because you drank it." Rude obnoxious and never returning again! read more

I've been waiting here for 20min after I was seated. Have yet to be treated by a waiter or even a server assistant asking if we would like water for our table. What's the point of seating guests if your not ready to serve them. I wish I could give them ZERO stars at this point. I don't want to spend my money on a place that has zero service and is over priced food from what I've seen come out. read more

This little place is outstanding in every way. Excellent food matched with great service. The only disappointing thing is that their menu doesn't reflect the flexibility they actually offer for those with dietary concerns. At first glance, you wouldn't know that most of their items could be altered to be vegan and gluten-free. That's unfortunate for both potential customers and the restaurant as I'm sure they loose some business that way. They were completely willing to modify anything on their menu, especial if they could. Very friendly about that. The fried brussels sprouts were amazing as an appetizer! The bowl had more brussels sprouts then I've ever seen in a single portion. Extremely generous portions on both the sprouts and the fried marble potatoes. Both were so perfectly cooked and seasoned. Delicious! Both were made vegan by eliminating the aioli and Parmesan which in my opinion are complely unnecessary for flavor. They were both super savory and tasty as an appetizer. The pizza I ordered and the salad my wife ordered were also fantastic. The pizza crust was so perfect, crusty but chewy and flavorful. The sauce and topping were also perfect and very fresh. The salad was made gluten-free by just eliminating the bread (on the pizza, just remove the cheese). It too was outstanding and incredibly fresh. This place is a total jewel in the little town square area of Healdsburg. Do yourself a big favor and stop in for lunch or dinner. It's one of the best options in the entire area. Nice place! We came in for lunch and had quick service. Food was out quickly, which was nice, and everything was devoured. Pasta, pizza and salad- all cooked very, very well. Reminded me just how much talent is behind the scenes back of house in this town. Not for groups, not exactly quiet or romantic if it's busy, but centrally locates and open doors make for warm nights with a pizza that will burn your tongue and entice your tastebuds after wine tasting or before the many tasting salons nearby. Good for conversation, starting the night, or carbing up. But for us- a family needing to refuel mid day- it hit the spot. read more

Love this place! Their pizzas never disappoint. FYou can tell they use quality fresh ingredients and their crust is always cooked to perfection in their fire oven! This time we had the special pizza of the day which had pork belly tomatoes and peppers yumm such a good combo but their simple margarita is still one of my all time faves! OK, it was Mother's Day so it was kind of busy. We finally asked for menus and the young man literally threw them on our table, no words. We ordered the appetizer with the pears, prosciutto and ricotta. It was pretty good so we were hopeful. There were only 2 other tables inside besides ourselves in the restaurant and they had outside seating going on. One waitress was walking around crying. What is going on in that restaurant? No one was friendly. We were sitting close to the door and there was a steady stream of people on the street coming into the restaurant to use the restroom, so that was weird. We ordered and the food took FOREVER to come out. No one checked on us, in fact, we were wondering "who exactly is our wait person?". 2 out of 3 meals came out, then the final one. The food was nothing to write home about. So, we wasted about $90 on this meal. Very disappointing, mostly from a customer service perspective. I see lots of positive reviews about service? I eat here a lot and have had almost everything on the menu. This place is AMAZING!!! They use only the finest ingredients and many of them are directly imported from Italy. My favorite things to get here are the soft shell prawn appetizer served with chili butter, the smashed marble potatoes with garlic aioli, the crispy chicken, and the arugula pizza with fresh burrata cheese (it literally melts in your mouth). If you are looking for authentic Italian style pizza, come here! The ambiance is great for a date or family affair. The place is pretty small so I recommend a reservation if you have a big group. If you are lucky, you will come in on a night when current TOP CHEF contestant Chef Luis (head chef of Spoonbar and partly here) is in the kitchen! You cam see all of your food being made and there is a great wood burning brick oven for the pizzas. The best pasta here is the one with dried chorizo. The pasta is cooked perfectly and the tomato sauce is made in house daily! I can't remember but I think there is a small section for outdoor seating. The service is wonderful from the front of the house all the way back to the friendly dishwasher :) I have had wonderful dining experiences here thanks to the managers Justin and Vince. I also had great service from Chris, Erin and Evarardo (spelling?). Florentino works in the kitchen and is hilarious. The crew here is a great perk of this amazing restaurant. My boyfriend and I are not fancy people and dining in downtown Healdsburg seemed so hoity toity and confusing to us. Sensing that pizza was the safest bet, we found ourselves here on a sunny Saturday afternoon. It was post lunch rush but pretty busy. The place is small and you're seated very close to one another. The woodfired pizza coming out for others smelled delicious so we opted for the simple tomato/basil/cheese. As a starter we got the romaine leaves with sunflower seed dressing ( wish they bottled and sold that-yum!) The pizza came out crisp but not burnt and tasting of fresh ingredients. Cute restaurant on the corner, open to outside. Nice ambiance and good food. Honestly there is so much GREAT food in Hearldsburg that this place is almost there. The crispy asparagus was really good, we had 2 orders. The soft shell prawns were delicious but they come to your table smoking (the walnut wood) and the smoke followed me - the butter and lime were great with it. We had 2 Pizza's - the mataki mushroom and the Burrata, Arugula and lemon marmalade - I liked the marmalade but my husband - not so much. The food here is good, service was attentive, spot on. I've eaten so much Pizza this week that this one was good but not one of my favorites. Really greasy but we ate it! The place is cute, laid out with windows that open and tables in the front. It was casual, family friendly but still upscale Healdsburg. I was not in the mood for pizza when I stopped in here for dinner with a friend the other night but was pleasantly surprised to see that Pizzando has a lot more to offer than that! A small but interesting menu includes some seafood, salad, sandwich and even veggie options that make this a great spot to pop into. Off the menu we ordered the calamari, brussel sprouts and fish sandwich. The calamari, especially the bodies, were very flavorful and the portion was generous. The sprouts were fantastic and practically a meal themselves. We would definitely order these again. The fish sandwich (which came with an option of fries or Caesar salad) was tasty and came with a lot of veggies on it. The weak point was actually the roll which was too soft for my taste. The Caesar, which we opted for instead of fries was excellent. The dressing was very tasty and the greens were crisp. Next time around is get the salad as a stand-alone to share. For dessert we ended up trying the organic soft serve ice cream which comes with a lot of topping options and is huge. One is enough to share. A light dessert was a nice way to end the meal. I wish I'd taken a picture to share. All in all a good meal, and we didn't even get to the pizza so we will have to go back! The restaurant itself is small and inviting, the staff friendly and attentive and the location is excellent. Prices were average for Healdsburg and for a casual dining experience worth it. read more

My husband and I had the best lunch here on Memorial Day. We split the delicious little gem Caesar (in my potentially unpopular opinion, all Caesars should be made with little gem lettuce!) and ordered two pizzas, so we would have dinner leftovers. The mushroom pizza was divine, they put bacon on half for picky little me, and the pesto caprese pizza is my personal favorite. I could see driving to Healdsburg for this and this alone. There simply aren't enough quality pesto pizzas available on menus so I was doubly pleased! Love that they offer GF crust as well. Last but not least, we left with soft serve waffle cones which is SO random, because I had asked my hubby if the ice cream place on the square might have vanilla soft serve. Pizzando had vanilla soft serve!!! There was a food angel looking out for me this day, I tell you. So good. Our server Marci was the BEST too, she had such a great personality and overall was just a delight. Give Marci a raise! She will keep your customers coming back. We stumbled upon this trendy little place while exploring the area. After ordering the margherita pizza it took a good 30 minutes to come out (we were the only ones in the restaurant at that time). The owner or manager brought it over in person, apologized for the wait and gave us half price. So classy move by owner/manager man. We liked the atmosphere; it was very hip but relaxed with large open windows. The pizza was just ok. The crust was over cooked and just a sprinkling of cheese. It was basically a cheese-less sauce cracker with a basil leaf on it. That being said, the tomato purée tasted fresh and so was the basil leaf. read more
