Came here for lunch the other day while doing some wine tasting in Sonoma and taking a walk in Healdsburg. This place wasn't too crowded so despite the mediocre Yelp reviews, we decided to give it a try. The service here was friendly. A little disjointed at times but everyone was pretty pleasant. We ordered a Caesar salad, Brussel sprouts, and a pizza to split. The Brussels were just ok. Nothing to write home about. The Caesar salad was unfortunately frozen. Like the lettuce had ice crystals on them. So we had to send that back and get it taken off our bill. The pizza was decent but honestly I have had better. With so many great places in the area, I was disappointed this wasn't on par. Friendly service but mediocre food and they missed the point on the salad. So happy we stumbled upon this place. (Literally stumbled...) After a day of wine tasting, nothing could've topped is off better than pizza, salad and of course ice cream. What a great place! Everyone was super nice and attentive and they helped us make great decisions. We ordered a couple of pies and a salad to share between 4 of us. Probably would've had leftovers, but it was a long day... We ordered the Margherita Pizza and the Spicy Coppa topped off with a Mediterranean salad. The Margherita Pizza was so fresh and easy to eat. I probably could've polished it off myself. It was cooked to perfection and the mix of toppings just gave it such a clean taste. The spicy Coppa caught us off guard. It definitely had a kick, but in a great way. It's that kind of spicy where you just can't get yourself to stop eating it. Besides the slice, it really was incredibly tasty. I'd go back to the area just to revisit the pizzas. I'd love to go on about the salad, but it was a yummy salad. Not too much to add to that... Great compliment to the pizza, but the pizza was our main focus and the salad acted as our healthy filler. However, I'd till will order a slad upon our return. Lastly and definitely not to be over looked is their ice cream. I had a large helping of vanilla soft-serve that was dipped in chocolate. I really can't say enough about it. My husband and I celebrated celebrated our 18th anniversary at Pizzando tonight, and our experience was magical! First of all, the location is spectacular, right on the Healdsburg Square. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, and the huge windows allow you to take in all the beauty of downtown Healdsburg. It was especially lovely because the square was decked out for Christmas. Our server, Danielle, the hospitable manager, and all the support staff were incredibly welcoming, professional, and kind. The service was fantastic! Our food came out hot and fresh in record time. I cannot remember a dining experience when the food arrived so quickly. The food was absolutely delectable! My husband and I spent 3 weeks in Italy this summer. We found that the food at Pizzando was better than any meal we had in Italy. The serving sizes were so generous that my husband and I will each get a whole other meal out of our leftovers. Super bad attitude. I went in to ask for a table. No one would even look at me and when i finally inquired for a table they told me outside seating was only available. We went to sit at those tables, and as my four and seven year old kids were standing quietly by the table, a guy who looked to be the chef came out, looked at all of us and said "I need to get through here" and then threw a rolling cart in our direction. So after we moved the kids out of the way, my wife went inside to inquire about if anyone would wait on us. They were rude to her too, saying sit outside, but no one would address us, bring menus etc. so we left! I don't imagine they will make it past their remodel with the current staff. read more

One of the most delicious Gluten Free Pizza's I have had in the area. The price is a little steep but I found it well worth it. I ordered the Mushroom Truffle oil pizza and it was fantastic! There was just the right amount of truffle oil, however, I wish they would of not skimped out so much on the bacon. There was literally one slice spread around the entire pie.. not enough Bacon for this girl whose nickname is Bacon! I also ordered the brussel sprouts but since the order was to go it was not crispy when I opened the container, but the taste was amazing. I can only imagine how delicious they must be when they are crispy as the menu suggests they are. Lunch date with my kid. Thought we wanted French bakery, but they were only making breakfast/brunch. Pizza sounded good so we mosied to Pizzando. Lucky for us we both love mushroom-heavy pizzas. This place delivered! Crispy crust, cheesy cheese, flavor aplenty! And the little gems Caesar salad was dressed as perfectly as it tasted. We talk in and there is a girl to the left of us, we let her know we placed an order. She ignores us (me thinking she didn't hear us) then we tell her again. She asked us if we were here for ice cream???? So told her once more we had an order. She Starts "looking" for our food, leaves, comes back. Leaves an order near by us with a tab on top and walks to the back without telling us anything. Mind you she is "secretly" talking to one of her co-workers and looking at us!! Stopped for an early dinner on a rainy Tuesday, I'm glad we got seated early cause the place was packed 15 minutes later. Service was quick if a little abrupt, she didn't tell us about the pizza of the day and also forgot about our cocktails. Nevertheless the food was delicious. It's so much more than a pizza joint, there is some top notch flavor combinations happening in the salads, pastas, smashed burger and especially the pizzas. Thin crust, and the wood fired oven gave just the right amount of char. It's tiny and often crowded and noisy but worth it. read more

Well after trying three different pizzas on different days I'd give it a 2-3 stars. The sauce is like Chef Boyardee. The crust is okay texture wise but has no flavor and lacks crispness. The combos are kind of like a high school kid was trying to be gourmet but is still just learning. The sausage is good but the tomato's on the margarita are cut in half cherry tomatoes that are not even ripe or remotely cooked. I remember this place being a lot better about 3 years ago. We recently visited today for lunch and it was just ok. Not terribly busy, but a somewhat young hostess (had to be in HS) appeared to be distracted in thought and didn't even know we were just standing waiting to be addressed. Once she noticed us, we were quickly seated and offered water. Our server arrived shortly thereafter and took our drink order, which seemed to take an usual amount of time to return with. Drinks were ok, as both my sister and I ordered house special drinks which seemed overly sweet and kinda lacking alcohol. The salad was good as well as the Brussel sprouts. We ordered 3 pizza's, which 2 of 3(Margarita, Spicy Coppa and Sausage and Broccolini) were very good. The sausage, garlic and broccolini pizza seemed to lack a salty component, my guess was the sausage was not seasoned enough, but we still enjoyed it. We were never followed up with to ask if the food was good or if we needing anything else. We were offered a dessert which we declined and paid our bill and I tipped 15%. Service needs a little work, and drink times could have been better and had a follow up was done, another drink order would have been placed. Lost sales. May revisit again. read more

3.5 stars. This pizza place was in downtown Healdsburg and was pretty small. Parking was street parking which could be limited depending on the time of day. The six of us carpooled and parked probably half a block away. We came around 12:10pm on a Tuesday and it wasn't busy. The weather was nice so the doors were open and the sun was shining into the restaurant. The menu was simple and a lot of the pizzas sounded good. The Tomato, Basil, Mozzarella ($14) pizza was probably a safe choice as three ordered that at our table. I was feeling adventurous and ordered the Roasted Beef, Spicy Tomato Sauce, Potatoes, Scallions ($16) pizza. They did have appetizers, pasta, and two meat items (steak or chicken). The kitchen was right next to our table and they had a stone oven (at least it looked like that from what I saw inside of the oven). The pizzas took a while before they came to our table. My pizza came out last probably because of the roasted beef on it. The potatoes were good but the roasted beef was not what I was expecting. It wasn't bad though but just wasn't what I was expecting. I finished the whole pizza and was the last one to finish since I didn't get my pizza until almost everybody was halfway through their food. Second time coming to Pizzando in downtown Healdsburg. Three stars is taking in to account we visited about four months ago and had a really good margherita pizza and some Brussels sprouts that were just okay. Fast forward to today and it is apparent something changed in the way the pizza was made, maybe a new cook... but the tomato sauce this time around was just okay, not very flavorful as we experienced the last time. We are always in search for that perfect wood fired pizza and after our visit today are going to have to keep searching. We did also order the Burrata appetizer that came with bruschetta and greens with crostini, that was delicious and the best part of our meal. read more

So, I kind of understand the mixed reviews on Yelp. I think objectively, the food is good. The service leaves something to be desired. The young man who served us was... distracted? And didn't always follow through on requests for water. And service was slow. I also felt like the ambiance here is lacking. The dining area is cramped - the bathrooms are small and very dirty. And overall it gave me more of a deli vibe than a pizza and wine place. Our pizza was delicious though. Well cooked, tasty. My friend and I each had a lovely glass of wine, too. I felt their wine list was well put together (one would hope, given that it's in Healdsburg). I'm not sure that I'd return if I come back to the area. Too many great options nearby. read more
