We had a great lunch on a sunny Monday sitting outside at this wood fired pizza kitchen. We started with the crispy Brussel sprouts and creamy burratta appetizers. The brussel spout eaters raved about them and I enjoyed the burratta and luscious cherry tomatoes. They've got a nice selection of pizzas with one being plenty for two people. The Italian sausage with shaved red onion was super flavorful with a beautifully crispy and chewy crust. We also ordered a mushroom and artichoke pizza that was equally good. My only nit was the pokey service with long waits for the check and to go boxes despite us being the only customers outside. Definitely a tasty spot and their creamy soft serve ice cream is a nice compliment to the pizza if you have room. read more

Went here craving the Oso Buco. I chose to sit in the small bar because I was solo and didn't want to be near families with their kids. There was only one couple in the bar and the bartender was talking to them so I waited. Then he started talking about basketball etc. etc. while I sat there waiting for acknowledgement. Finally, I got up, walked 5 feet to the bar and asked for a menu. He kept talking to the other people and after a few minutes he finally came over and took my drink order. Then he left after a waitress asked him if he wanted another table in the restaurant area. I waited and waited. Never got my drink and didn't see him again. Stopped in for dinner after a show at the Raven Theater without a reservation. Staff was quick to seat us and get us started with water and menus. Waitress was very attentive taking our appetizer order right away. The calamari was very good (not fried which I really enjoy). While we ate that, she took our dinner order - shrimp scampi and lasagna. This is where we were disappointed. My scampi arrived and looked like it had been sitting under the heat lamp for several minutes. Then we waited....no lasagna. After 5-7 mins, I got the waitress' attention and asked where his dinner was and was told a few more minutes - it was in the oven. It came out a couple minutes later. The waitress was extremely apologetic even though it wasn't her fault. This is a kitchen failure - poor planning. Flavor wise, both dishes were just ok - nothing special. The manager came to our table a couple of times but never said anything about the issue and offered us nothing for our inconvenience. This is just poor customer appreciation in my opinion and we won't go back. read more

Love their pizza! After a long day of wine tasting, we swung by Pizzando to get a pizza to take back to our Air B&B. The Broccolini pizza was fantastic! Loved how the broccolini had a little char and the sausage was delicious. Ad the Buccatini was also fantastic! We had a cocktail at the bar and our food arrived just as we finished. Perfect timing. Solid pizza with no complaints from the experience we had yesterday. I'm gluten free so a friend shared with me and our other two dining partners shared the gluten full pizza. We all tried the prosciutto and peach pizza and I thought it was delicious! The gf crust was more than a cracker which is always a bonus. I know it's hard because sometimes gf is such a texture issue. This had good chew all the way through to the crust ends. We were in and out pretty quick. Service was fine for us. I see there are a lot of service issues, we didn't experience this other than having to ask for some water a couple times, not that big of a deal. I've never eaten here before, it's good to know it's tasty I know it's been around for years so that also says something too. Great little authentic Italian spot and we picked up a sausage pizza. Perfectly wood fired, though we heated up over a campfire afterwards so may not have tasted the genuine chewiness of the pizza dough. We ate here on a Saturday afternoon in November, the wait for a table for two was about 5 minutes. The staff is friendly and attentive, and our fried calamari and burrata appetizers were delicious. This is a favorite spot for local pizza. Their pizzas are wood fired and get to the table quickly. I do ask for extra crispy (not wet in the middle), and they do not disappoint. The brussel sprouts are a 10/10! So tasty. Their calamari is also really good, a little spicy and not fried like it usually comes at other places! A great place for drinks & a meal. Wonderful helpful wait staff. We had the rosemary sea salt focaccia and it was heavenly. We enjoyed a Margarita Pizza and it was amazing. We were seated outside under the heaters. We started with lovely cocktails and draft craft beer. I ordered the special of grilled seasonal vegetables with sole. The portion was hearty and perfectly cooked! My hubbie had the Mediterranean Chopped salad which was an excellent accompaniment to the pork belly. We were looking forward to a fun girls' night out with some wine and tasty Italian fare. Upon walking in, I was impressed with the rustic yet upscale atmosphere. The hostess greeted us with a smile and promptly seated us at a table with a lovely view of the open kitchen. So far, so good! However, our server took a bit too long to greet us and get our drink orders. I expected more attentive service at a restaurant of this caliber. We started with the bruschetta and caprese salad to share, which were fresh and flavorful. The homemade mozzarella on the caprese was a nice touch. For our mains, we ordered a mix of pizzas and pastas to share. The Neapolitan-style pizzas had a crisp crust and high-quality toppings but were on the small side for the price. The pasta dishes were more generous in size but lacking seasoning - my penne bolognese was bland and needed a lift from the parmesan and red pepper flakes on the table. This is a small casual restaurant located on the plaza in downtown Healdsburg. We've dined here a few times and love their pizzas. On our first visit we asked the chef to create a vegan pizza for us and it was loaded with mushrooms and was delicious! Since then they have added the Vegan Mix Pizza to their menu with artichoke hearts, mushrooms, onions, olives and spinach, and it is equally delicious! We also really like the Wild Arugula Salad, the lemon vinaigrette with the peppery arugula is a very nice combination. This is once of our favorite pizza places and our go to place while we are in Healdsburg. read more

We stopped in to dine at this recently refurbished and enlarged restaurant in the center of Healdsburg. We walked in and got seated without a reservation. We began by ordering focaccia and Caesar salad to share. The server dropped a piece of our focaccia order on way to table. She apologized and said she would bring us another order. That never happened. It's actually a good thing because this focaccia was like nothing we have had before. It was all hard crust, practucally inedible. The Caesar salad was OK. We both thought the dressing could use a major pick-up in flavor. Her eggplant Parmigiano and my spinach fettuccine with mushroom sauce were very good. She finished with an affogato and me chocolate soft serve ice cream in a cup. Simple but tasty. The dishes and flatware were very nice, but for some crazy reason, the spoons with dessert are plastic. "She really likes the pizza" "Yes, but they don't get very good yelp reviews" This was the conversation as we walked from Young & Yonder to Pizzando. Enjoying the company of friends, I didn't care much what the yelp-o-sphere thought of Pizzando and once I was sitting there enjoying Pizzando's mighty delicious pizza I cared even less. Pizzando has some awfully good pizza for which I'd happily return, but let me take a moment to set expectations for others: Pizzando sits in a lovely location across from a charming green park. The whole of downtown Healdsburg is charm-central and littered with upscale dining establishments. Pizzando feels a bit like the lower end of that upscale-ness. It's neither a pizza hall nor a fast food establishment but rather, a sort of casually nice, simply outfitted, somewhat open-air establishment in which I felt perfectly comfortable in biking attire. The service at Pizzando falls into the same category, perfectly decent but not top of the line. Nobody told me what the pizza of the day was and when I asked, our server had to go check. Big deal... NOT. But indicative of the type of place Pizzando is. Based on my one visit, I think what Pizzando does they do quite well and perhaps those who wound up unhappy here were hoping for it be something it's simply not. But who could argue with really good pizza shared in a pleasant atmosphere with friends? Not I. Pizzando is not the place I'd pick for a special meal in Healdsburg but for a tasty pizza and a glass of wine I'd not hesitate to stop back in. read more

To start, the calamari is SAUTÉED, not fried FYI, super weird presentation served alongside purple potato chunks.... The spinach fettuccini noodles were hard, and the bolognese tasted like it came out of a box & was very runny. (We walked by another bolognese plate - and saw a different looking consistency). Very slow service. Kitchen seemed overwhelmed and stressed. Very disappointing experience. Not sure why this place was so busy - not many Italian options in Healdsburg I guess. read more
