I loved the pizza and cauliflower here but it did seem just a little bit overpriced for the size. Overall it was good especially the pizza I got. I never get butternut squash pizza but this one was so good! Also I have to note that the servers are very kind here. I had a problem with my order and they took care of it right away. This restaurant was the closest to our hotel and we walked over as our kids wanted pizza. There is seating on the 2nd floor above so don't let the bottom floor deceive you. We ordered the margherita and the rustichella pizza. The 4th star is for the the service as they were excellent. read more

What do you do when you really like, but don't love something? That's kinda how I felt with this place. Solid thin crust pizza. Good sauce. Good toppings if a little stingy (though the thin crust can't really handle anything too heavy either). The prices are steep. It is, after all, just pizza. My review is for the gluten free pizza. I have been gluten free for years now, I cannot even express how GOOD this one is. Their GF pizza makes you feel like you're eating regular pizza. Light, airy, but chewy- my husband ordered a regular pizza, and he had a bite of mine, and it's the only was he could confirm it was indeed GF- he knows how hard it is to find a decent GF crust and was also in disbelief at how good- literally a MUST if you're looking for a good pizza and have to eat GF (or just want to) For regular pizza eaters- as per my husband, also incredible. As I came and grabbed my baby the gentleman proceeded to say " I told you no already." I told him that the lady host said she had openings. He replied angrily and said " she doesn't know anything." I came here because of the Yelp reviews. First if you want to sit somewhere besides the bar or the front two tables make sure to make a reservation. I kept hearing everyone with a reservation getting an option for if they wanted to sit upstairs, outside and find the best place for them. Those without one were offered the bar or the front two tables, then once that was filled were turned away. I'm still surprised when the place was empty they turned business away. The food: the bruschetta was good, however the bread was very soft in the middle barely holding the tomatoes. The pizza was very thin. I understand new from style pizza however the toppings slipped off because the dough was so thin. Speaking of the dough it tasted like flavorless naan. It was chewy in some parts as if it was not completely done. The service: this was the redeeming quality. The service and server assistant were pleasant and they checked on me throughout the meal. My water was never empty which is a good sign and cleared the plates immediate after I finished. David was there to provide great service. On a tight schedule to get to the Met for an opera we walked from our hotel over to the place. Nothing fancy about this place. We were seated at a 4 top up front and got menus right away. But the waiter didn't return so I flagged down a more senior guy who came right over. I told him we had to get to a show and with that he placed our order and got to it. Less than 10 mins our pizza came out with wine etc. The pizza was perfect I think he put us in front of the line since it came out so fast. They use buffalo mozzarella and the crust was light airy and freckled with char!! One bite and it was heaven. So I had to ask the man with the Italian accent where he was from, and he says proudly Naples!! Well of course....and the pies were that good. I'll be back many times, he's been there for 11 years and they have a thing. He told me they make homemade pastas so have to try it!! Great service and even better food and wine!!! Side note: we went back the next day for lunch and got the homemade pasta, I got the Ragu and Sandra got the Genovese, to our delight both were superb. Gave Pizzarte another try after many years and unfortunately the food at this restaurant is just not good. We ordered two pizzas and both were soggy. So soggy that the bottom of both pizzas ripped apart. We also had the salmon which was just okay, and also ordered a side of potatoes was probably the best part of the meal. Service is very friendly but despite the restaurant being pretty empty we often had to wait a long time before anyone came to refill water, bring our check, etc. Overall prices are pretty high for sb-par food quality, so we won't be returning. read more

Had a wonderful lunch here. We were just walking by and decided to give it a try and were not disappointed. We had a smoked mozzarella pizza with meat ragu sauce. TO DIE FOR!!!!! We split it so the pizza portion is generous. I ordered bruschetta, worrying a bit about poor flavor tomatoes but they were surprisingly good. So I can recommend it too. I loved the pizza. The space was cozy and simple. My visit was between lunch and dinner, right before the opening World Cup match, which they may have been closing for (so I can say with near certainty, this was Thursday, June 12, 2014 around 3:30pm ). My point is, it was an unusually quiet time and I got extra attention from the friendly guys running the place. I enjoyed a glass of wine too and I remember it 9 years later. Food is delicious. This review had to be written because of the service experienced. My spouse and I (after a matinee show) thought we could grab a 5 PM dinner. I love the food here and we are regulars. We did not have any reservations but thought we could get in given it was so early on a Saturday night. We enter. The restaurant is empty. I tell the hostess, "2 for dinner." She asks if we have a reservation... I tell her, "no we do not." She says, "then I can put you at the bar." Her non verbal communication was also very unwelcoming and rude. I then point out the restaurant is empty and would prefer a table...to which she says is not possible because we don't have a reservation. Because this young woman is so unpleasant, we decide to leave, to which the hostess could care less if we left. Half a block away, my spouse says "let's check if they are fully booked." We check to find out the restaurant's online system has plenty of open reservations. We book one. At this point, I'm irate- given how concrete this situation is. There is a man, whom looks like the boss, holding the door when we return. His name is Valentino and is the manager. I try to explain to him that WE WERE JUST DENIED A TABLE BECAUSE WE DIDN'T HAVE A RESERVATION AND TURNED AWAY, when there are plenty of reservations available! Instead of diffusing the situation, Valentino begins to argue with me! He wasn't even listening nor concerned. Just kept waving us in...and then tried to put us at the bar! After realizing what this is all about, he sweeps us off to the most uncomfortable table in the joint. To his credit, he did attempt to come by later and, I suppose in his way ? apologize by telling us to "ask for him next time." No actual accountability for the lack of professionalism and ridiculousness of this situation. For a pizza, soup and pasta and $100 later we should have gone somewhere else. We did not enjoy our food given this encounter. We don't enjoy paying to feel unwelcome. We won't be going back, which is a shame because they do have a decent pizza when in midtown. read more

Been here a couple of times and the pizza is good. We've tried the gluten free and the regular. We were impressed with the crust for the gluten free pizza. On the Tonno pizza (tuna), the toppings were a little skimpy. One piece barely had any tuna. So, while the pizza itself is good, the execution on the toppings isn't quite as good. I do like the crust - it's soft and not too thin. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to eat here, but I would come back again while I'm in the area and need a quick easy bite. The fried dough pizza was solid and I would definitely recommend this to diners who enjoy it. Service + ambience 3/5: Service was fine but nothing notable. We spent a week in New York and went out for lunch and dinner to a different spot every meal. We actually had a rule in place to have pizza at least once a day. PizzArte has won our unofficial official contest that nobody knows about. The pizza was a fantastic. It can certainly be shared if you order appetizers and dessert. It really was so good, I didn't even think to snap a picture of it before we devoured it. They also have a great selection of wines that are decently priced. The staff were the most pleasant, inviting, and lovely people. And that's saying a lot; we're from the south, we know hospitality. This is a fantastic spot for a date night or a very small group of friends. They do have one large table upstairs in the back if you have a larger group but I would recommend a reservation if you do have a bigger group. read more

We asked for a replacement. They brought us our plates, both of which were dirty and had food and dust stained on them. We asked for new plates. Time to order. We were interested in a house special elongated pizza. The waiter had an accent that made him a bit harder to understand. He said the price was $16, or so we thought. We ordered it, then we ate the pizza we thought we ordered. We got the bill, and it listed the price as $70 dollars. A $70 pizza from the big fancy Manhattan pizza shop. With dirty plates. The point is, we ordered a pizza we thought was $16, but it's possible the waiter said $60 and we misheard or misunderstood him. However, it's not possible that he said the price was $70, which is what it was. We talked to management, who were thoroughly without remorse and unhelpful. Instead of offering a free dish or a discount or anything for the situation, they offered their business card. As if we were ever going back there. read more
