The bread maketh the pizza and they bloody well nailed it , that thin crust is about as good as it gets , so much so that our second pizza was bit burnt but I couldn't care less. Margherita at Pizzeria Testa (Frisco) is still unbeaten for authenticity and flavor but this slightly sweeter city cousin with the thin crust is a worthy contender. I took a chance on this place after randomly picking a pizza place to try on yelp and wow. I saw that this place sells pizza squares and I wanted to see how they compared to other pizza squares I've tried here in DFW. The person at the counter, which I assume is the owner, was very knowledgeable and informative when telling me about their specials and how they make their pizza and sandwiches! I was a little overwhelmed at first but stuck to my main mission of trying their pizza squares. I ended up ordering the all cups square and a meatball square to go. If you order two slices and eat it at the restaurant then you also get a free soda. I enjoyed both slices, the pepperoni being my favorite. The sourdough is prominent in the crust and brought the whole slice together. The meatball square was also great, it is made with a vodka sauce, meatballs, and pesto. He highly recommended I try the thin pizza or sandwiches and I will definitely be back to give those a try. The place also had a very warm ambiance to it and it felt like the guy at the counter genuinely cared about every customer that walked through the door. Walking in the ambiance took me back to some great little pizza places I have tried. You know the type, a sliver in a shopping center that's mainly kitchen and a little seating. The kitchen bustles as 6 people work with the precision of a symphony putting out orders with perfection. The harmony in the kitchen was fun to watch. Truly a great energy. I stopped by last Saturday, and even though it was at an odd hour (in between lunch and dinner) they were pretty busy with take out orders. What attracted me to this place is that they have beef pepperoni. It was my first time there and I believe the owner was there and he ran through some speciality pizzas. I ended up getting The Diva, and oh my goodness!! It was delicious!! It's really too bad that I live very far away from this location, because otherwise I'd be a regular. What a great spot for a weekday lunch in Preston Center! I loved all of their options for lunch specials, all of which were reasonably priced. I ordered the Monti and got a healthy serving of Mortadella. The pizza crust style bread was so good and I loved the ricotta and pistachio pesto addition. Okay, maybe I'm being a little dramatic, but when it comes to pizza, I'll proudly wear the crown (Fefe aka drama-less Queen)! Anyone who knows me, also knows my love language is "Pizza". I grew up on New York slices, I have an Italian chef in the family, and a study abroad stint in Italy where I majored in pizza (unofficially, of course :-). So when I say this is some terrific pizza, I mean it! This isn't your run-of-the-mill chain pizza and I drove across town in Dallas traffic just to try Pizzeria Carina. The location is a cozy neighborhood spot with 6 -8 tables. The owner, Eugene, is absolutely fabulous. We got to chatting and his story about how he ended up in the pizza business is so fascinating. I won't spoil it, but trust me, it's worth a visit to meet him and try his amazing pizza, of course. It's Roman style thin crust pizza that reminded me of being right back in Rome. The flavors are bold, the ingredients are top-notch, and everything is clearly made with love. It's so distinct and fresh, so when I had the chance to share it with my family later...I was excited that everyone loved it! I started with Noona's Meatballs (all-beef and served inside a pizza bowl!), then sampled four pizzas: Bella, Tony (beef pepperoni), Walter White, and classic Margherita. Each one was delicious, and it was impossible to pick a favorite. Also, Eugene was gracious enough to send me home with a tiramisu that was so authentically delicious. Bonus love: several of the staff are from Ukraine, and they've brought such warmth and pride into everything they do. The hospitality here is just next level. This place is great! Anywhere that has gourmet toppings and not just the same stuff you get from Lisanti foods is a huge plus in the pizza game. Your can tell this place is an amalgamation of different cuisines and inspirations to create some good za! The dough is sourdough and reminds me of a thin khobz al-sabah. I think it's the different types of flour that are used in the dough that strike the thought. The place does lots of takeout which is how we tried it. It really needs to be eaten fresh as the box kills the texture they work so hard to achieve. I could taste the quality of the ingredients and see the oven results even though the box steamed it on is way to my house. Next time I'll just eat it out front Portnoy style lol. I really like this place. I hope they get a rotating specialty pie as I'd love to see what the owner Eugene has up his sleeve. I was told this place was great,.. so I'll try them out. I ordered a pepperoni and Italian sausage. I got 90% pepperoni and 10% Italian sausage (if even that!) It was so greasy I used four paper towels to sop up the grease before I could eat it. The crust was crunchy and nice, but the overall experience was nothing I want to have again. MAN, I wish this were closer to Irving. Good pizza is hard to come by in Dallas. Parking in the afternoon was a bit of a challenge, so don't be discouraged, just be patient. It is a small place with only about 4 or 5 eat-in tables. The owner will walk you through the highlights of the menu. The owner and I were chatting all things Pizza, and I was saying how much I love Tony's in SF, and that i have met him a few times and chatted with him. And of course this guy knows Tony too. "It's a small (pizza) world after all" We decided on the super thin margarita Skinny Marge pizza with sausage (he gets the sausage from some special place and it was delish, not that crappy small crumble crap a lot of places in Texas uses). We also got the Roadrunner sandwich that is the ode to Anthony Bourdain with the fried mortadella, and an order of the chick pea fries. My favorite thing was the pizza, it was indeed the thinest pizza crust I ever had, not too much sauce and little pieces of high quality sausage. Food tasted absolutely amazing (Ordered 4 different Roman squares) and the entire ambience of the restaurant was cute. In addition, absolutely incredible quality for the price. The only reason for 4/5 and not 5/5 stars is because two things: 1. Since this is a relatively small restaurant, the staff could easily get overwhelmed and the wait for the order can be a while after ordering. 2. The restaurant, because it is very small on the inside, was filled with burnt smell and smoky. My wife and I decided to order and waited outside because of it. I was looking for a new pizza place around my work and came across Pizzeria Carina. They had a 4.9 star review on Google, so I decided to give them a shot... and they did not disappoint. I got their Tony Pepperoni pizza with spinach, and it was delicious. The pizza crust was nice and thin, the sauce was not too sweet nor bitter, and the ratio of pepperoni was perfect. I couldn't believe it. If you enjoy thin Rome-style pizza crust with just the right amount of dough, cheese, sauce and toppings, you won't be disappointed.
