Lunch Specials ROCK at this place. They are great with groups and have no problem doing separate checks. I've been here twice. I got the Lunch special of a 2 topping Pizza/salad...I think it was about $15. Enough pizza for leftovers...not just a slice but a generous sized personal pizza. I went a different time and got the chicken sandwich on focaccia bread which was served with home made chips....yum! Staff is great about refilling drinks and getting the food out in a timely manner. When I lived in Davis, my ex and I would drive for an hour just to devour some mind-blowing pizza here. This is a horrible place for a date though, because the minute the garlic chips hit the table, it's all about the food. And when the pizza arrives, you'll want to throw the art of courtship out the window and get busy with some intense pizza eating. It's alright--your date will be of similar mind and you'll still get laid later. I promise. Having grown accustomed to the deep dish pizza of the Bay Area (think Zachary's, Little Star), I was initially disappointed that P.C.'s version of deep dish was not in the same style. It had a thick crust instead of thin, and not enough tomato sauce. But you know what? It was DAMN good and rocked my world anyway. I recently came here with some Sacramento friends and they were instant converts. This was the first time my friend and I had dined here. When we walked in we were immediately greeted and seated. The young waiter also took our drink order right away. After we had chit chatted for a bit we finally ordered. My friend ordered the garlic chips and a small cheese pizza. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. The garlic chips turned out to be good ole garlic bread. I am not sure why they call them chips since they are nothing like them. My friend said they were good, as was her pizza. I enjoyed my sandwich as well but did not eat the side of chips due to my healthy eating. They did offer a substitution of a side salad, but it was for $2 which I find to be steep compared to other restaurants. The quality of the food was good/average. The reason I am not giving this restaurant 3 stars is because of the pricing and service. Our waiter was young and unfriendly. This could be because he is shy, bored, etc., but I prefer my server to be friendly and accommodating. We didn't see him smile once and he didn't seem very happy to be there. I agree with some of the other reviews regarding the staff lacking "people skills." As for the prices, my friend and I saw that the garlic chips were on the menu as a special price of $6 with any purchase. After seeing a price of $9.95 on the bill we asked about the discrepancy and he told us that is only on Mondays. We told him we didn't see that note on the menu and he just turned, walked away and returned with a menu and pointed out the very small print. I hate to be a generous five star giver, but I'm guilty! All I have to say about this place is DAYYYYUMN. One day I ventured over to my parents house, looking to mooch on some leftovers (hey afterall, I am broke, just got laid off, and in my mind I am always thinking "please God, let there be pizza leftovers in the fridge!") BAM! One day my Mom says "there's leftover pizza!" I tried it, it was incredible... it was from Pizzeria Classico, she said. I come from a family of Italians and picky eaters. They don't like to try my Thai, Vietnamese, Pho, Sushi, Fusion, exotic whatevers restaurants (sad face) so you can imagine my dismay when selecting a restaurant for my Birthday dinners each year. I swear my family's idea of exotic is adding extra salt and pepper to their entree at Olive Garden or Red Robin. This year I selected Pizzeria Classico after I was very very pleased with the cold pizza leftovers at my parents house. I was deeply impressed. I was not super impressed in terms of ambiance... but the looks of the inside of the establishment are what you expect from a Pizzeria. It's definitely a step up from places like Round Table in terms of cleanliness, and feel. I think a good pizza joint just has to have that kitschy feeling though, kinda like a roller rink, so this one is above par. Additionally, they have extremely unique pizza's on their menu. One even has roasted potatoes!! Wow!! I feel like compared to other non-chain pizza places (such as Zeldas, downtown Sacramento, or Basic in Roseville)... I felt the pizza options were a lot more creative/original and appetizing... whereas Zelda's had more meat based options. I'm by no means vegetarian but I do not include a lot of meat protein in my diet, and try to limit it where possible. They had adequate seating, parking kinda sucks and is limited, the place is rather small but very inviting. The staff was VERY prompt, very attentive. You didn't have to bug a server 20 times for more napkins, ranch, coloring books for my family's toddlers, etc... which is saying a lot for a party of over 10 people. I felt like we asked for a lot of items and the servers were quick to attend. Bravo, P.C.... you are my new favorite pizza place!! I'd have to say they would blow a gourmet pizza place out of the water (eg Hot Italian, downtown Sacramento) because the location is nostalgic, just like their establishment. Prices are affordable. After reading all the great reviews, we stopped here for lunch on the way back from Tahoe. We arrived around 1pm on a Sunday and surprisingly, the resto was dead and even worse, no TVs for any football viewing, yet they had a Raiders banner on their wall. Whatever, we're here to eat, I guess. We start off with the Garlic Chips. Not knowing what exactly it was, it came out and it looked like a small cheese pizza cut into strips. It was good but, it was pizza, nothing "chippy" about it. We ordered the Family Meal and it came with a Caesar Salad which was purely simple and no frills. For our pizza, we of course decided to go deep and did the Classico Supreme. Surprisingly enough, the pizza was prepared quite fast. Our go to spot in the Bay Area is Zachary's which takes a good 30+ minutes but, we got our pizza in just less than 20 here. I liked the crust, it's pretty rare to find a pizza spot that uses corn meal in their dough, which I love. The pizza overall was good, however the pizza was halfway cooked towards the center of each slice, not a fan of eating "warm" pepperoni. Service was okay, I think our server was new as he was kind of nervous and made a few errors but, I thought it was kind of cute yet admirable at the same time as he reminded a lot of myself during my first job. Came here for the first time on a Friday night before ice skating in December (me and everyone else, right?). I had a group of 50 to accommodate; no small feat in Old Folsom. I called a few days before and was told that although they don't take reservations, if I got here early they would try to work with me. I arrived about 20 mins before my party, and the hostess had about five tables set aside for us, and said that we could take more as they cleared out if we needed them. We ended up taking almost the entire right half of the restaurant! The waitstaff was ON IT, no one waited to be seated or for food, drinks, or the bill, and as far as I know there was no confusion with keeping all the checks separate (we're talking about 30+ families here). We go out about once a month, and I will say this is the BEST experience I've had with a group this size. Even restaurants twice as large are not as accommodating and capable. And the food was delicious, too! I had the garlic and shrimp pizza (Stinking Rose maybe?) and it was fantastic. Overall, huge (albeit overdue) kudos to the staff at Pizzeria Classico! Wow. What is with all the five star reviews? The pizza is so-so and not worth the price. I can't speak for the other dishes on the menu, but the restaurant does smell nice and garlicky. However, I really have to give just two stars based on the service we had a few weeks ago. There were only a few other people in the restaurant, and half a dozen staff members just hung out behind the front counter. They didn't come to take our order for about 15 minutes. And--get this--when the server brought our pizza he just chucked it on the table without a word and walked away. WTF? I've never waited tables, but I think you are supposed to say "here ya go" or "will that be all?" or something like that. And, of course, he never returned to refill our sodas. I think he felt a tinge of remorse when he brought the check because he asked, "uh, do you guys want some water?" Maybe they are nicer to regular customers. Who knows. But from the time it for us to wait for our seat to when the host was ready to seat, I had to excuse myself and just leave. The employees were so rude and inconsiderate that I just couldn't do it. My friends continuously try to persuade me to give this place another try, but the service was too unprofessional and inconsiderate for me to ever try this place in the near future. We've been coming here for a very long time, usually ordering the half garlic/pesto chips and a margherita pizza. Usually we find the pizza flavorful, brightly colored and aromatic... but not today. Today's pizza was one of the worst. It looked burnt with a brownish color. The sauce tastes like a bland canned tomato sauce. There was no flavor, unlike how this pizza used to be. Went here for the first time last week and got a large Chicago stuffed pepperoni and garlic pizza. The sauce was slightly more spicy than I prefer, but the overall flavor was good. I enjoyed the crust- which to me kind of had the texture of a really dense biscuit. When I placed my order, I told the guy that I wanted "a lot of garlic" and they did NOT disappoint. Literally this thing had so much minced and roasted garlic in it that I could still taste it on my breath 2 days later. Good thing I had it over the weekend and didn't have to sit in any tiny conference rooms with coworkers- I probably would have killed them! I'm not holding this against them tho, this is what I asked for and I definitely received it. Next time I think I'd opt for JUST minced garlic :) Also tried the garlic chips- which lacked garlic in comparison to the garlic overload pizza we had! They were basically like a pizza with just cheese and garlic (no sauce). I asked for a side of marinara so I could dip my chips in, but turned out not to matter much since I didn't care much for how spicy the sauce tasted. I should have gone with classic ranch@ Anyhow, I'd definitely come back here- tho not too often. It's a bit pricer than I prefer, but you definitely get more than enough food! Pizza & Breadsticks are wonderful...when they came! Unfortunately, I can only give this a 3 becasue the service is never good here. The first couple times we visited, I thought the service was lacking because of the amount of people that were there; however this last time we stopped in, it was 4pm on a Saturday afternoon and it still wasn't good. Location is very hidden, in Old Town Folsom on Sutter st it seems as though I pass by this corner place all the time, I should have picked up a pizza on the way. We ordered the Classico supreme pizza and the rosemary garlic chicken pizza. The Classico had a great crust to the pizza and was loaded with toppings!! The crust couldn't hold all of the toppings together. The rosemary chicken was perfectly cooked and the pizza had potatoes in it! Great touch to bring all those ingredients together in one bite. I love the food here, I have lived in Folsom for around ten years and have claimed this as the best pizza in Sacramento area. I love the "Stinking Rose"( roasted garlic, red onion and shrimp). Within the past year the service has dropped off. I ordered a pizza for pickup and the young man that answered the phone had an attitude as if I was interrupting his fun. The service at the counter (at pickup) was equally as unpleasant. It feels as if there is a lack of management or a person onsite to ensure quality service (again only within the last year, before service was excellent). I was told (tonight) I needed to pay for Ranch with order of pizza, it was always free(?). I recommend ordering for pickup, parking is almost impossible on weekend nights. The food is great beer selection is limited to lighter beers I think the darkest is Great White or Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Pesto chips are good and I also recommend the pizza called pestatoes( pesto / potatoes ), I tried once to try something different, it was great. read more

The place is located in the corner of a small shopping center on Sutter, has very cute booth seating like an older pizzeria should! First things first, if you're hungry enough to have an appetizer-- you HAVE TO order the garlic chips...to DIE for. I live in Los Angeles now and I crave them day and night, I wish I could find a place here that had something similar. I think I will attempt to bake my own. Anyway, this is like a huge square pizza cut into triangles, baked with the perfect amount of garlic and cheese. Incredible. Next, the pizza...wow. Perfect from the crush to the sauce to the cheese. I'm not big on toppings, so I usually only order plain cheese or pepperoni. This is 1000 x's better than any of the delivery pizza or Papa Murphy's in the area. They're baked perfectly, thick crust, great cheese, and sauce that's smooth! My mouth is watering... anyway, TRY this place. Great for a date night, or a place to bring the family. Atmosphere: I personally like these types if environments. It can be dark and quiet or dark and noisy, depending on when you come in. Very traditional and cozy. It's very clean as well, but the bathrooms are shared with the building, so you have to go outside. Service: I was sat quickly, although it was not busy. The waitress took a bit to get to me and get our drinks, but was acceptable. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful with the menu, which I like. Food: The pizzas are excellent. There are unique pizzas and common pizzas as well. They have a pretty good kids menu including spaghetti and not oven/microwaved crap. Or at least it doesn't look like it if they do. Once again, a big plus for me. Summary: A unique enough place to call it unique. The pizza isn't common, the atmosphere isn't common enough, and it's set in Old Folsom, which is a nice place for a stroll on a Saturday evening. I would read the menu more carefully if my in-laws ordered anything different from the Family Special deal which comes with garlic chips, a house salad, and a choice of pizza, which ends up being the Vegetable Delectable every time for dietary reasons and it's impressive balance of toppings and flavors. The house salad tastes as we would expect and we eat it more out of giving the appearance of health & moderation than what our deeper, obvious motives really are. The garlic chips come in the form of a small pizza by itself and has been perfected with a crisp but fluffy crust smothered in bountiful, molten cheese and salty pungent garlic. The vegetable pizza features the same great texture of taste of crust and cheese which overshadows the performance of olives, mushrooms, and peppers. Our Classico servers are usually attentive high schoolers who nervously read their welcome scripts between their braces and work diligently to deliver the prized pizza as quickly as the kitchen can pop them out the overnight. The staff usually looks on my screaming nephew just as I do with shock and anxiety not knowing what to do. A Blue Moon or Sierra Nevada are some of Classico's better beer selections. About the pizza: Good, crunchy crust (not burnt) with a nice flavor Generous toppings Not sweet sauce Just enough cheese Not too greasy The "Deep Dish" is not Chicago Style-- it's a little more like there's a lot of crust and they fill in with whatever toppings. We got the one with pepperoni/mushrooms/peppers/other stuff and there was a lot of vegetable on top that didn't seem overly cooked, with a regular pizza sized layer of cheese/meat on the bottom. Sort of like a salad pie, but to be honest, I think I like that better than the greasy piles that some Chicago-style deepdish pizzas turn out like. They offer some unique pizzas like Rosemary Chicken and pizzas with potatoes (for those who need extra carb action). Nice twist! Service: They accommodated a party of 20 with no reservations and no complaints within 20 minutes of us getting there! The food came out as promptly as could be expected and the servers were courteous and helpful. They had enough discretion not to make a huge deal out of the fact that we'd obviously come from a wedding and had the bride with us (at the very least). Ambiance: Cozy and unpretentious. Hands down, some of the best pizza I"ve had in the Sacramento area. Fair bit of warning though, I haven't been to *that* many different fine pizzerias, so take that with a grain of salt... The inside is pretty cute, like the booths... Our waitress was charmingly awkward without being inept. We got the lunch special, which is a pretty good deal, you get a little pizza with a caesar salad, which me and my friend split, and I got a blackberry italian soda, which has whipped cream in it, super yummy! The caesar salad was very satisfactory, and that pizza, oh... Y'all are gonna think I'm weird, but just remember that I like strong, bold flavors: it was mushroom, artichoke hearts and anchovies. My new friend was so impressed to find somebody else who liked anchovies. They buried the anchovies under the cheese, which made for a delicious salty explosion in my mouth (oh baby), which went well with the equally salty artichoke hearts. The mushrooms were a little overwhelmed, but it was a choose-your-own-toppings kinda thing, so all blame is on me. The pizza, as a whole, was of very good quality. Among the best, if not THE best I've ever had (that one goes to the Vegan wonder of That's Amore in Cerritos). But it still gets my very enthusiastic approval. Note: dinner might be a little more pricey, but if you do the lunch special like I did, it's not too bad... I really do like Pizzaria Classico's food, but we hardly ever go here because the parking is horrendous. There is a tiny lot in front that you shouldn't ever bother trying for, and a large lot in back, that is often full, and requires many steps up to get to the front door. I took my (elderly) family once, forgetting about the steps, and they almost had several heart attacks from the climbing. Also, the bathrooms are outside public ones, possibly a little sketchy in the dark on a weekend with so many bars around. But that's all besides the point. The pizza is damn good. I wish wish wish they would deliver, if they did, I'd have it every other week or so. I've also had their salads and hamburgers, they were OK, but not to my liking as much. I've heard others rave about it though. This is a great place for large groups, because there are several booths that can accommodate 8-10 people. Awesome place to have pizza in old folsom. There are multiple types of artisan pizzas to choose from. My favorite is the Hawaiian pizza, which is topped off with macadamia nuts, I thought it was weird at first but it actually tasted really good. If you like pesto don't forget to order the pesto chips, they're kind of like a flat bread pizza appetizer that you will not regret ordering. Pros: Has a large selection of pizzas Pizza taste great Appetizers are really good Nice selection of beer Service is good Decent for group dining Cons: Parking is hard to find during the weekend if you don't want to walk very far. Just got back from yet another great meal at Pizzeria Classico. I have been going to this place with my friends since our high school days back in the late nineties. Tonight, it was only fitting that the old high school crew get together to celebrate our last year in our twenties. Pizzeria did not fail us. Even though they have great pizza, definitely get a salad. Get a small or family size and it will be plenty to share with the table. It's good to get some greens before diving into the cheesy grease. You have to have the garlic chips. That's the signature dish. And they are not super garlicky, so don't worry about that. My friends all love the pizza skins. They involve pizza crust, mashed potatoes and cheese. They are pretty good, but I don't like bacon bits on my food (I know, I'm weird). And of course, the pizza. It's all good. Mix it up with different sauces and all kinds of toppings. You won't be disappointed. read more
